  (2) use the Code Security and verification of device Code.  This is where you enter your security code you created for iCloud keychain and then enter the number of secondary authentication received (usually via SMS).  This method for those who may have a backup plan for the first option.  As in my case, I have the SMS authentication will my phone number and my wife's phone number.  While my wife does not access my iCloud Keychain, I can use him as a point of authentication in case I'm not the #1 option.

  Have you implemented 2-step audit on your Apple ID? If you do this, then whenever you connect to icloud.com you are likely to be asked for the security code, which will be sent by SMS to your device of 'trust' - mainly the mobile phone you have registered with Apple.

  in case the error code is equal to sec_error_unknown_issuer, please try to add an exception on the bottom of the error page (don't add it for real however) and inspect the certificate as shown in the screenshot
