Security, privacy, spyware as possible?

I recently contacted you RE. a "friend" junk on my list of hotmail. I foolishly accepted a request from an unknown friend (a "zsummer") and I started to receive messages from sexual content. I deleted this contact, and suite for your helpful answer, I changed my password also.

But since the same day, I accepted said request I got a window popping up constantly behind the screen/page that I am at, at the time (facebook youtube regardless), and it stays there until I became aware of this and close it. This intrusive window is called "ad.doubleclick.net" and it shows variations due to this point, for example: "/ N7464, adi, ICM_Platform, InternalProduct_", then it goes the same word "North American"; then that, or variations of: "sz = 900 x 500; Ord ="and then the invariable" [timestamp]? All of this in one line of course :)

Is this spyware, how to report it and how do I get rid of it for good?

try to run some checks:

Update your AV (data definitions file) package and then run a full scan.

Then download, install, update (by right clicking on its icon and "run as Administrator" and then go to the update tab) and run a complete scan with free malwarebytes
If the foregoing analysis can't find anything and the problem remains, then may also scan with free superantispyware as well.

  • Shared services security - is it even possible?

    I want to know if the following is possible with the help of shared security services:

    • I want to implement a MSAD group who will have to say 50 subgroups.
    • I will define this super group as an external directory of the SS.
    • I then assign security (roles and filters) for each of the groups of 50 cents.
    • There will be no groups or users in the native directory.
    • Based on the needs of users, team MSAD users one subgroup to another without connect to change the SSP.
    • My expectation is when they move one subgroup to the other users, the user will have the safety of the group they have been moved to.

    Is it possible to set security to shared services in this way? I've been experimenting and having a miserable time operate. I just know if I'm wrong or just wasting my time.

  • WARNING pop-up THAT FAILED in SECURITY & PRIVACY

    I was on a website, clicked on a link & immediately got a huge flashing pop - up with print & sound of warning that my computer is locked, & to call a number immediately. Could not close this page, could not close Mozilla Firefox & had to use force to stop.

    I waited a few minutes & then turned my computer back on, ran Malwarebytes scan & clean, then analyzed again. Also ran the first Avast & no problems were detected.

    Is there something more I need to do, or I can sleep?

  • Privacy & Security EtreCheck

    I'm trying to solve a problem of security and confidentiality. As an Admin user, I cannot unlock Security & Privacy to make changes now. However, I can still open users and groups. By a different debate, it has been suggested that I have download EtreCheck and view the results. Run first reported some adware that I already deleted and can't test. The problem with Security & Privacy is still there. I am concerned about the many invalid signatures in EtreCheck report below. I guess I worry a bit with the note below average but more with the signatures not valid.


    Yesterday I ran disk utility checks on the computer (27 "iMac, mid-2010) and also directed TechTool for several hours. Unfortunately, the TechTool run was interrupted before the final report is issued. The race of TechTool is probably slowed down because I have two hard drives external, used for backups Time Machine and Carbon Copy Cloner attached. I'll remove those until I run TechTool again.


    Any suggestions on what is useful information and should I do about it?

    You seem to have serious filesystem corruption (I don't know how you managed to have TextEdit appear in the log of the accident) but recovery would require probably digging through logs console for additional clues.

    Since you have double redundant backups, I would be tempted to boot from an external restore partition, reformat the hard drive and start over from scratch with a clean reinstall and restoration at most only files/user profiles.

    If you use Internet Explorer 7 or later you can try the steps below and check if you are able to download the files.

    b. If nothing works to solve the issue try reset Internet Explorer.

    IE reset warning:
    Please note that reset the settings of Internet Explorer running resets all of the settings defined by the user, including those established by the installed extensions, toolbars and other add-ons for IE by default. This includes all the security, privacy and settings area. Also this will erase browsing history, delete all temporary Internet, cookies, form data files and especially all the passwords.

    If the problem persists I would ask you to uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer and check.
