• Windows 7 Home Premium - default printer disappears and need to reinstall

  I use Windows 7 HomePremium and have a HP OfficeJet Pro 8500.  Regularly, sometimes daily, the printer disappears from devices and printers.  Only the printer devices disappears.  The fax device is still there.  I have to completely reinstall the printer from scratch.  Windows 7 is pre-installed - this isn't an upgrade of Windows 7.  The event viewer shows that the default printer is passed to the OfficeJet to MS one Note (I have MS Office 2010 installed, but this is also a problem with MS Office 2007).  At this point, the device for the OfficeJet disappeared from the list of devices and printers.  The loss of the unit of the printer seems to happen randomly.  I hope someone can help.  I've seen other assignments of the loss of a printer, but I found no solution.

  I suggest you run the scrubber to the HP website driver and check if there are conflicts in the drivers. The link to the raccoon driver is:

  After you run the scrubber to the HP website drivers, you can try to uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your printer and check if it helps you to solve the problem.

• P1102w: P1102w is no longer connects to the wireless network

  I've been printing successfully for years on my Laserjet P1102w.  Today it print one document and went offline.  There is no network connectivity to the device.

  I plugged in my laptop using the USB cable.  The laptop recognizes the printer and print a Test Page.  I downloaded the latest firmware, but the installation fails.  It is said that it can not detect the printer.  I tried to install the latest version of the software, but it fails too.

  I am at a loss.  The printer was working fine and I have a new toner sitting here ready to be installed cartridge, but the printer is no longer connected to the network, or allow me to update the software/firmware.

  Any help will be appreciated.

  Thank you for showing your interest in the HP Forums! I see that you are having problems getting the printer connected to the network again. I can help you.

  I have provided a few steps to take to set up the printer again:

  Cycle power to the router and the computer.

  Restore the default settings of the printer, and reconfigure the network again.

  Turn the printer off, press and hold the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer on and do not release both buttons until the printer stops making the noise.

  Print a configuration report and check the SSID address and IP are disabled. (hold down the x key and when the printer makes a noise to let go of taken)

  Temporarily, connect the USB cable to the computer.

  View all applications on the computer, or do a search.
  Search HP Laserjet software and select Wireless Setup.

  Run the wizard to reset the printer on the network.
  Unplug the USB cable and test the printer.

  Try to print again.

  You can check this document for printer not found during Network Driver Setup.

  How to print words backwards without loss of resolution on the HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless? Paint will allow printing in reverse, but poor resolution. I want to print the words in reverse order for rub - on stickers.

  Deskjet 6980 driver is compatible with the Officejet 8500 and provides a checkbox 'Mirror Image '.  You can do the following: click on start, devices and printers, click with the right button on the Officejet 8500 and select properties from the Printer Ports.  Note the port settings.   Now, the devices and printers folder click on add a printer, a local printer, select the same port as the 8500 noted previously.  Now, click on Windows Update in the lower right.  It will take several minutes for the update to finish unless there is an error *.  Once the full update Select manufacturer HP (Hewlett-Packard no) and the Deskjet 6980.  Once the printer has been installed, you can click with the right button on the Deskjet 6980, properties of the printer, and then rename the "HP Deskjet 6980 series" to something else, maybe "Officejet 8500 Mirror Image", OK.  Right-click on 'Officejet 8500 Mirror Image' printer and select Printing Options, finish, check the 'Mirror Image' checkbox, apply and in the print task Quick Sets type a new name as mirror and then save.

  After do you have two printers, one the 8500 standard driver that you can use for normal printing and the 'Mirror Image' version, which you can select when you print a T-Shirt transfer documents.

  * If an error 'Windows cannot find a list of the features of update' you can fix that as shown in this post.  I tried this fix and can confirm that it works.

  I'm sorry that you are having this problem. There are several steps you can take to help your connection problem. First of all, when the printer is connected to your network, print a Network Setup page. On this page, use the ip address of the printer and that type in the address bar of your internet browser on your computer. Will take you to the server of the web integrated printer (EWS). Look for the Networking tab change the automatic ip addressing to public static ip (manual). You will then enter the ip address of the printer, followed by the subnet mask, and finally the default gateway, the info that will be on the Network Setup page you printed. Below, you'll assign 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as the primary and secondary DNS. Who should manage the intermittent connection loss problems. With automatic addressing, the printer can request a new address whenever there is a network problem, which confuses the printer. Static IP or manual addressing, is tackling this problem.   We have a problem get sustained response of our HP Officejet 7000 Wide Format Printer - E809a which is connected to the network wireless ethernet to a router Netgear cable.  We tried stripping on the software driver & uninstall of the printer of the registry, and then re-setup from latest downloads from the HP site.  It works, especially if the device is set as the default printer, but the printer greys out less than an hour in the device registry and the default value automatically resets to another printer.  Does anyone know why this printer loses his connection?

  I see by your post that continues to change the default printer. I'd love to help you.

  Disable the SMTP setting in print, to see drivers if this will help.

  Devices and printers, click with the right button on the printer and click on printer properties, click the Ports tab, select Configure the Port, clear the SMTP check box and the printer should display online.

• OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus: loss of wireless connection, printer does not accept the password wireless

  My printer has suddenly lost its wifi connection. It's the only phone connected to my network to do so.

  Through the Wireless Setup Wizard to restore the connection. Assistant tells me that I entered an invalid password wireless, that is not true. (I confirmed that all devices connected to the network using the same password).

  Reset the router (Technicolor of Time Warner). Reset the printer. The 'Restore default network' done. No luck.

  Zero has changed since yesterday, when my printer was working fine. I used the same router for months, do not change any settings. Any thoughts on what may be the issue? A bad update happen?

  My apologies for the late reply. I managed to get this problem resolved by phone to customer service.

  The security mode of the router had to be changed to 64 WEP for wireless connection to be restored. According to Support HP, it's a common problem with the routers in Technicolor. There was no explanation as to why the printer has suddenly lost the ability to connect wirelessly when safety was created to WPA2-PSK. The network has been configured this way for more than a year.

  I have almost solved this problem on mine (I had read about changing of security in a different post), but ran into a hiccup because of Safari. For some reason, Safari prohibited access to a menu page for my router security settings. You can imagine how boring it is to look at the HP Support use Firefox to access the router and do what a mouse click more, and then I had to make the change. So, if you make this change, be sure not to use Safari to access the gateway of the router Technicolor. Use Chrome or Firefox.

  Most likely, you will need to re-run the installation of the network.

  Since you changed the encryption WPA2, the printer needs to know this!

  2. are you able to browse Internet wireless?

  3 did you changes to the software to the computer before the show?

  4. What is the operating system installed on the computer?

  Steps to update driver Wifi Miniport Adapter:

  1. click on the Start button.

  2. in the search box type devmgmt.msc , and then press ENTER.

  3. Select the device Wifi Miniport Adapter, to the title of the network adapter and right click on it

  4. now, select uninstall.

  5 restart the computer.

  After the computer restarts, the drivers will be installed automatically.

• Difficulty with printer (custody loss of connection)

  I have been using a Zebra 2844 thermal printer during the past year. In recent months he has been giving me problems. When I try to use the printer it is greyed out and says offline, when I put in online it (it shows online) it does not print when I try to print a test page. I use the same cables and software on both computers. The only thing that seems strange with my computer, it's that when I go to install the printer, I have only a single port usb (USB002) option. I have 4 USB ports on my computer, 1 is used by the keyboard, and it has a wi - fi dongle. Can anyone help to understand what is happening? I don't want to have to buy a new computer just to print, but since I use it for my business I don't know what I can do. SE re-formatting help with the problem?

• Printer all in one, loss of network connection

  I have a Photosmart HP 5510.  This is only about a year, but is now always lose the network connection.  I configured correctly (it actually worked!) to the wireless router.  Most of the time now when I need to print, it tells me that the printer will not communicate with the computer.  I took it out of the network, put it back on, and he said: it is connected.  I have not printed the network status page, everything is OK, no problems found.  So I'm still not able to print? It's very frustrating.

  I set it up to my Macbook Pro and my iPad.  He has worked on both devices, but I can't seem to get it back in shape now.

  I have looked on the forum here and have seen many many people with the same problem, but most seem to be using a Windows operating system.  Any ideas on what to do?  I really need to print!

• NETGEAR 7550 & printer HP Photosmart 5520, loss of network connection

  Connect a new printer HP Photosmart 5520 using Netgear 7550 DSL Modem and router with AT & T Wireless.  Software installed without any error, but after 5 min or so nothing is able to connect to the printer.  Restarted the printer and ping started the ip address of the printer.  Once the printer is connected to the network, I was able to ping it, but after 5 minutes the ping failed.

  Other deviceses wireless have no problem connecting to resources (internet, file shares, etc.).

  I also took the printer at home to see if the problem exists.  Printer had no problem and was able to ping from one day to the next.

  The problem seems to be a combination of the Netgear router and this printer HP (firmware?).

  Any suggestions in addition to the uninstall of the printer/scanner software?

  Well Yes. I would say replace the router - and not to buy an another Belkin.  Stick with brands like Linksys or Netgear.
