See other Points of restoration

I am running Windows 8.1 v, I'd like to go back more than one restore point and cannot do. Any suggestions?

When I click on the System/System Protection, click the [System Restore] button and click the radio button "Choose a different restore point", I offer only a single restore point. I understand that some users will also see a box "Show restore points more" reading, but I don't have this option. Is there a download available or another way to see more than one restore point? I tried to restore in the hope that I could then see a previous restore point, but no luck. I need to do because I'm a troublesome malware pop up in my browser and going back to a point of restoration (or two) seems to be the only way I can find to stop the display.

Try to install the free version of Malwarebytes and see if you can get rid of the malware. Restore points could not help. If the popup is only in the browser, install another browser and try that. You can have as many browsers as you like. Also open the options in your browser first and make sure that the windows pop-up is blocked.

To see more restore points, to increase the available space in the Protection System. If the space is not big enough, you will have the room to restore only one point.

  • Why my computer displays a restore point (dated today ' hui), even when I click on show other points of restoration?

I'm trying to restore my computer to a previous point, because it's strange (temporary is assigned to some users and the computer itself freezing). I did it before on an older computer which ran on XP. But my current Windows 7 system gives me only a restore option, which is not because it has been established today. I thought that the restore points were set automatically - is this not the case?

To save space, Windows will only keep the most recent points created successfully.  You can increase the storage space reserved for them to increase the stored number.  Always by default, he is very aggressive and will remove older, or when a change is made that invalidates a point.

  • Why Software Distribution 3.0 appears on my Microsoft (restore point) system restore almost every day?

original title: software distribution service 3.0

Why Software Distribution 3.0 appears on my Microsoft (restore point) system restore almost every day?  What is it?

The Software Distribution Service 3.0 Restore Point is created when new Microsoft updates are downloaded and installed.

Depending on the configuration of your system, the updates can be downloaded and installed automatically as we never see what is happening.

For example (this is what I usually see), if you use Microsoft Security Essentials and an update of MSE comes out every day, you can't "see" anything on your system to tell you about this, but when the ESM update is installed, a new called Restore Point "Software Distribution Service 3.0" will be created. "

If MSE gets several updates per day, you will see a new PR of 3.0 SDS created for each of them, so it would be possible to have several SDS 3.0 Restore Points per day.  Alternatively, you can have one for MSE and another for some other day.  Some days you won't see any SDS 3.0 created restore points.

Of course, there are other reasons, you might see a new SDS 3.0 Restore Point and you might be curious to know what is all just never one see you.

Among the technical support engineers Microsoft will surely be able to tell how to look at each new SDS 3.0 Restore Point you have and tell you how to determine exactly what was in this update of the Software Distribution (if you're curious).

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I will certainly help the question of fixing.

Please follow the methods and mark the question below:

    Method 1:

I suggest you try the steps mentioned below.

Steps to re-create the Task Scheduler:

    a. Click Start; in the start search type regedit.exe and press ENTER.

If you receive a consent prompt, click Yes.

    b. navigate to the following location.

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Schedule keys and remove its subkeys.

    c. save the changes and then close the registry editor.

Now check if the Task Scheduler works.

WARNING: Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. I can see other computers on a network of peer to peer windows XP but cannot access their shared files and the shared printer. The computers are connected by a switch, fixed IP addresses that are correctly configured and point to a DNS server outside the network. When I try to open the icon for one of the computers, he asked for credentials. I try to type the user name for the computer that is sharing the resource and the password. It is the user account whose computer is loged on and belongs to the Administrators group. for example: user name (Computer1\username) password (password). It does not work. The Windows Firewall is disabled on all computers. It worked well there 2 days. I can't find anything wrong with the network settings. Does anyone have a solution? Thank you.

If the portion of the machine has activated - Simple file sharing (i.e. it is XP Home or it is XP Pro with Simple (default) file sharing) - while all file sharing connections authenticate as user 'guest '.  It will not matter what username / password you provide, it will attempt to authenticate as 'guest '.  If the guest user has received a password or the guest account is not active, you will experience the symptoms you describe.

If the serving machine running XP Pro and Simple file sharing is disabled, then you should be able to connect by specifying the user as computer\user and the password to connect.  To turn off Simple file sharing:

Privacy when downloading from a web site

When I download a document or image on the WEB, see other my path of the file? To help you remember specific things about a company or a person, I have nicnames for their files well, it woud be embarrassing if they were able to see those names somehow. Not that they are offensive... just ridiculous ;)

Number of files - particularly documents created by word processing programs and images created by digital cameras - contain "metadata", which may include personal or location information that'd rather you keep private.  It's completely outside any file name you have given to the file.

There are different methods and tools available to "scrub" the files before sharing.  For example, only Word 2010 has a built-in "document inspector" that allows you to watch and remove metadata.  See also http://lawyerist.com/how-to-quickly-and-easily-remove-meta-data/ you can use your favorite search engine to find more ways to remove document metadata.

Regarding the images, the files created by digital cameras usually have "EXIF" metadata included, which not only contains information such as the date parameters, time and camera, but may also include GPS information if the camera has this feature (for example, a camera in a smart phone).  See, for example, the results of this Google search: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=remove+jpeg+metadata

Some - but not all - file sharing web sites automatically scrub metadata.  It is safer to do it yourself before you download files.

And just to be pedantic, 'lung' sounds as if your system memory involves a lot of hot air.  The word you're looking for is "mnemonic".

  • Cannot see other computers on the network

    Am on XP SP3.
When I go to network connections,
    Right-click on local area network
Click Properties under the general tab,
Click on install and click Service
.. all I see is a list for a McAfee driver but nothing for Microsoft. I removed my computer some time ago with McAfee & he must have created problems that I can't see other computers on the network. Is there a Microsoft driver, I need to install and which will help to solve the problem of not seeing other computers on the network.

On the general tab of the properties of your network connection to the LAN card, you should see a box under the heading "this connection uses the following items."  Most Windows XP configurations for home use have 4 entries in this box: Client for Microsoft Networks, QoS Packet Scheduler, file sharing and printers for Microsoft Networks, and Internet (TCP/IP) Protocol.

If you don't have these, you need to install, even if you really need not the Scheduler of QoS packages.

You seem to have got almost to the right place, but be aware that when you click on the button 'Install' in the box, you are given 3 choices: customer, Service and Protocol.  The "Client for Microsoft networks" is obviously a "customer." 'Internet (TCP/IP) Protocol' is a 'Protocol' and the other two are "Services".

    What elements you have installed?

Also check with the manufacturer of the system, their drivers and documentation support online and ask
    their forums (if any).

    ============

You will probably need to reload the drivers of the device and any camera control software.

    Login as an administrator.

Double-click Control Panel / Device Manager - Imaging - writing down of the brand and model of camera.
on this subject and on the tab of the driver is version. Now, click on update drivers (who are unable to do anything as MS
is far behind the pilots of certification). RIGHT click on the camera - UNINSTALL - REBOOT - it
    will update the driver stack.

Now, go to the system manufacturer's website and download the latest driver for the camera and the other related camera
software (if not more recent get the same).

Download - SAVE - go to them and RIGHT CLICK - RUN AS ADMIN - reboot after each driver.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

I'm terribly sorry for wasting your time.

I realized what the problem was. I've implemented the new computer exactly as the old, same name and everything. Come and find the computer name of the computer being the same as the old conflict and did not again see what was on the network.

So the trick was unplug the old computer from the network.

    What could be the problem?
    Thank you
    Gary .net developer

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

In Windows 7, go to control panel > everything in Control Panel > network and sharing Center. Click on "change the advanced sharing settings. You don't want to use the residential group unless you have all Windows 7 machines. If you do and you want to use the homegroup, see Windows 7 Help & Support. Otherwise, in sharing advanced:

Discovery of plug in the network
Open the files and printers sharing
Turn on the sharing section Public folder sharing
    Plug the password protected sharing

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, running on Windows 7 sharing files and printer as above will take care of this for you. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus/security with its own firewall component program, then you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Refer to the safety of any third party program or the user forums for how to correctly configure its firewall. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    C. create the counterpart of the user accounts and passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this:

Start > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

    D. Si one or more of the computers on your network are XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

    E. create share as you wish. In Windows 7 I usually share the Desktop of the user and the Public directory. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
