    Try the following steps:

    1. install HP Vista Nvidia chipset, here rebort.

2 uninstall the current Nvidia video driver, install the following:

    NVIDIA 8400 M GS and 8600M GS

    197,16 32-bit and 64-bit 197,16

If errors, try modded INF of the site www.laptopvideo2go.com

For GeForce version 197.16, here 32 bit and here 64 bit

Run the installer first, if it fails, try 3 steps to install:

    1. download the driver, double click and select extract,

    2. download modded INF and replace original INF in extracted folder,

    3. install & restart.

If all goes well, who would set falls down when the laptop is suspended or hibernated.

  • Not to say could not upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional

I pre-ordered Windows 7 months with no indication that I couldn't switch from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional without performing a new installation.  Now I learn that I have to re - install all THE programs, once I have perform this upgrade / 'clean install '.  All the criticism of Windows Vista pales in comparison to my irritation at says this news AFTER the purchase, and not before.  Failure of the installation of the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to note any problem.  All previous Windows upgrades went flawless.  Needless to say I am extremely disappointed by this turn events and we hope that Microsoft will improve its pre-purchase counseling in the future.

I guess I have no choice now but to do a clean install of Windows 7 and then reinstall on my computer that will put me out of use for a long period of time?  I backed up the entire hard drive before trying to install, but I doubt I can get by simply restoring this backup.  Is this correct?

    Hi pwcushman,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers.

Windows Live OneCare Backup works in stages. You start by setting up how you want Backup to run and save the configuration. The backup will then run according to schedule and backup your files according to the saved configuration. You can make changes to this list or add other files and folders.

You can restore all files and folders, but you will have to reinstall all the programs.

Check this link for more information:

  • My CD-ROM/DVD-Rom drive & the Bison Webcam built into my laptop. Does not work after I upgraded from Vista home premium to Windows 7 Home premium.

My readers Optiarc DVD - RW AD-7530 ATA Device DVD/CD-ROM & the Bison Webcam built into my laptop. Does not work after I upgraded from Vista home premium to Windows 7 Home premium.
Although of course, the CD-ROM drive worked during the upgrade.
I noticed that when I turn firstly on the laptop, the last two lines of the front entry from Windows 7 are the following.
PXE - E6i:Media Test Failure, Check Cable
PXE - MOF: Exit PXE Rom
During the audit of each Properties in Device Manager devices", I learned that they both work correctly.  In the list in the printers and the @Devices the only Webcam shown is also a "USB 2.0 Camera"
    Can someone help me please?
    Best regards
    John

    Besides what abdelhak says:

The message of PXE boot that you receive when you start your computer has nothing to do with your CD/DVD-Rom drive. Your computer uses a PXE boot method to attempt to load Windows from a location on your network. Since you do not have this configuration, it is safe to ignore it. If it slows down the startup time of your system, contact your manufacturer and ask them for instructions on how to "disable PXE Network Boot of the BIOS.

    Hope this helps,

    No, for two reasons:

    1. the rule is quite clear. It is a copy (or a license) for each
    computer.

There is nothing new here. This is exactly the same rule that has been in
effect on all versions of Windows from at least with Windows 3.1.

    2. even if you have uninstalled it from your wife's computer, you might not
Install it on your. If it came with the computer of your wife, it is an OEM
copy and license to get an OEM copy permanently it binds to the first
It is installed on the computer. It can never be moved to another.

Microphone does not work after upgrade from Vista Home Premium to win 7 Home Basic Edition. Laptop model Sony Vaio VGN-NS25G, bought in India

My built-in mic not working anymore after the upgrade from Vista Home Premium to win 7 Home Basic Edition. Model laptop Sony Vaio VGN-NS25G was bought in India. I have taken the loacl Sony Service Center and they said that Windows 7 drivers for the microphone Sony was not yet available. They mentioned that the only way to fix the problem was to upgrade to Vista. Is this true? Where can I get these drivers for the microphone, and they are not available, when will they be available?

    Hello

    Method 1.
Interestingly, I found the drivers for Windows 7 for this particular model of Vaio. Here is link thye:
    http://www.Sony-Asia.com/support/download/362654/product/VGN-ns25g/sectionfirst?subpage=detail

I suggest updating all your drivers from the link above and drivers Realtek especially.

Method 2. Set the default Microphone.

Once the drivers installed to check if the microphone is the default value, here's how:

Exercise the functions mentioned below to adjust the Microphone as default:
    1. Click Start and click on Control Panel.
    2. click on sound, then a new window will open.
    3. in the new windows, click on the 'Registration' tab and right click in the window and click Show disabled devices.
    4. now check if the Microphone is listed there and right-click on it and choose activate.
    5. turn highlighted that Microphone and click "set as default".

  • Free upgrade from Vista Home Premium 7

My laptop is still under warranty. I bought it New from Best Buy. Given that it was a floor model, they tell me that my computer is NOT available for free upgrade to Windows 7. Why? Is it possible that I can get a free upgrade to Windows 7? It has Vista Home Premium built in and the reason that I don't like is that it is not useful at all as much as to teach me how to use the computer. I am a senior and I learn right on the computer. If I can't get the free update, Do You traore the price of Windows 7 never boils? Any help is appreciated! Thank you very much!-Chris, in Dearborn, Michigan.

Suppose you have qualified for an Upgrade to Win7 for free if you had not bought a floor model is reduced, Chris. In any case, only Best Buy can really explain why the computer does not qualify.

You can buy an Express Upgrade to Win7 Home Premium (~ $120 USD retail or less) or Win7 Ultimate (~ 220 USD $ retail or less). See http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/shop?T1=win7 or http://www.google.com/products?q=%22windows+7+home+premium%22+%2B+upgrade&hl=en&aq=f

Please note that the upgrade to Win7 peut invalidates your warranty and Service contracts.

In any case Windows Update has nothing to do with the upgrade of Windows. Please post future questions about the upgrade in this forum: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7install/threads

  • Upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Ultimate

My 32 bit HP came with Vista Home Premium which is updated with SP2.   I'm trying to upgrade to Vista Ultimate, but get this message: could not start the upgrade.  To update, cancel the installation and choose to upgrade to a version of Windows that is newer than the version you are currently using. "The choice of installation custom is available, but I n

Uninstall vista SP2 on your computer.

The Service Pack level on your computer does not have to be communicated more top/more later then the Service Pack to upgrade.

If the SP1 upgrade, uninstall SP2 from the computer, etc..

If it is higher on the computer, you must do a clean install, as the upgrade is an earlier version of Vista.
