  We have 4 running 5.5u3 esxi hosts connected to a shared Storage area network and a device vm vcenter. All hosts are Dell R710 servers with processors E5620 (Westmere generation). We take the plunge and add a server R730 with an E5-2660v3 (Haswell) and hoping to avoid having to take guests to activate CVS. What I've read, it seems that I could activate our current with the baseline Westmere cluster when I'm ready, and then add the new server in this cluster. No downtime, no muss, no fuss. Is this correct?

  I realize that limits us to the older processor features, so we will not be able to take advantage of the features of Haswell, but we are more interested in continuity at this time. In the summer, we will be able to add more R730s, date in which I move all the VMS off guests and raise the level of reference VCA to Haswell.

  Please, someone let me know if this plan seems correct, or if I get in the grass to chat too.

  Since all hosts in the cluster are currently running Westmere, you can go ahead and activated VCA with Westmere baseline on the fly.

  And since a new host Haswell (no virtual machine on it, yet!) is being added to the cluster of this already EVC enabled, there should be no problem. You can go ahead and add the host Haswell on the fly.

  Only if you have virtual machines running on hosts Haswell, then you are obliged to switch off the virtual machines on the hosts haswell.

  From now on, no downtime. Turn on Westmere > add new host Haswell > good to go!

• Turn on CVS on ESXI 4.1 running cluster

  I have a group of 13 ESXI 4.1 using processors E5540 intel. We intend to introduce a single host X 5675, with possibly more to follow.

  I could activate CVS Nehalem(the highest available mode for E5540) for 13 existing hosts, then introduce the new X 5675 to the cluster. I hope this will allow VCA no downtime on virtual machines.

  I read articles on activation of VCA. I am aware that raising EVC mode requires power for the virtual machines to use the features, and this reduction requires the first VMs powred.

  -Not allowing VCA Nehalem on an identical to the starting cluster allows me to leave virtual machines power?
  -What happens if we decided to restore, remove the X 5675 and passing of Nehalem to CVS not?

  For your cluster of E5540s, allowing the CVS with the highest mode will not require a breakdown. As long as it is valid in the VCA selection window, you good to go. You can then add the host X 5675.

  I always recommend having what EVC enabled to facilitate their guests adding later. It does not cause a drop in realistic performance.

  vCenter will have any problems being in a cluster of EVC.

  Running two ESX hosts v4 - update1. All VM lived on DAS until recently. Implemented ISCSi SAN and reinstalled all VM shared LUN.

  Verified that both hosts have access to the same Lun, same config network and DNS seems to work fine.

  Create a cluster HA with VM followed active and I'm ready to add my two hosts.

• How can I extract and use the driver "exe" to communicate and to load an Excel "cvs" in my Amateur Radio transceiver?

  I use a Mac Mini OS 10.11.3 (El Capitan) processor 2.5 GHz intel Core i5.  With 16 GB of ram at 1600 MHz kDDR3.  I down loaded the program I need and you used my (Mac) excellent program to load the cvs program sheet.  However, the driver is contained in a 'exe' format and I can't or can extract my Mac to use this program.  This driver is required to enable communication between my Mac and radio transceiver.   The only option I see is to acquire a computer laptop windows to allow the use of this application unless there is a program bootable can I mix on an external hard drive and then use Bootcamp?  Help please.

  The 1457 CVS is designed to be used with one or two cameras. It may be possible to use a separator of GigE, but this is not supported, so there is no guarantee that it will work.

  If you go to/etc/natinst/share you will find no - rt.ini and lvrt.conf. Time zone is located in the [LVRT] section of ni - rt.ini (RTTarget.TimeZone = "Etc/GMT + 6" for example "), and the startup application are defined in lvrt.conf.

• Connection to CVS GigE camera via a network switch

  It is a fundamental and very simple question!

  I intend to connect two GigE cameras to NI CVS-1458RT for an application of Imaging. When I tested the configuration in MAX, I realized that I can connect the cameras directly to the PoE ports, or alternatively, connect the cameras directly to the network switch and in both cases, connect the CVS to my network via its ethernet port. I was wondering if there is a benefit by connecting directly the VCA cameras, if I do not anticipate supply their Poe or if my switch has PoE Betacam.

  Usually, you always want your cameras on dedicated lines, or at least only sharing bandwidth with other devices. The mechanism of transport used by GigE Vision isn't really sharing good bandwidth with other devices. If you only share the bandwidth on a link given with other devices, you can throttle each take only a percentage of the total bandwidth. If you have devices without camera on the link, they don't usually have a mechanism to control the gap inter-frame limitation insofar as GigE vision made which would be necessary for properly sharing the bandwidth without remove the packages of bandwidth.

  If you end up sharing one of the ports for the operation and configuration of the CVS on the network, you will be at the risk of losing image data packets whenever the rest of the traffic is sent. Although there are mechanisms in place to return data, these add latency and jitter to your purchase.

  I want to use a chassis with a CVS 1458RT EtherCAT. I'll have to dedicated to one of the three gige ports (1/3) to communicate with the 9144 chassis? Therefore 1 for my camera, 1 for gigE plant LAN and 1 for chassis EtherCAT?

  I know there are EtherCAT drive, I work with Allen Bradley, so I think to use a 9263 and a 9411 for analog player. Could you confirm that I will be able to control the analog output of the CVS at the EtherCAT frame to 4ms?
