  in case the problem... at least as much as we could understand, anyone trying to solve this problem, has been linked to the image that we have created from our DVD media.  Under the leadership of a certain support advanced Adobe, we uninstalled the software from the computer and then downloaded the software with the help of Adobe.  By using the downloaded software, we were able to enter the serial key and install and use the software as intended.  Hope this helps someone else.  Thanks to the Adobe support!

  I downloaded photoshop cs6 after having paid for it an update to photoshop cs3. During installation, it asked for the serial number for cs4 or cs5 but not cs3.
