SETTING MTU ON VCS

Is anyone know where and what command to set the size of the MTU on the VCS control? I need to change from 1500 to 1300.

Thank you.

Hi Chet,

connect on roots on VCS and run below command.

# ifconfig eth0 mtu 1300

to make a permanent change change the file "/ etc/network/interfaces" using vi command and make a entry «mtu» 1300

Here is the command when I did it on my RESUME, and when I read the same file by using the command "cat".

~ # cat configurée

# This file is automatically generated. Manual changes will be lost.

MTU 1300

After you make the changes, you can simply restart the machine.

To verify the "ifconfig eth0" command execution and check the mtu size.

The MTU size is necessary to allow the passage of executives more than 1500. I found the necessary setting on the Admin page to enable frames. In order to be a layer 2 switch, this isn't the answer. You must enable frames more than 1500 to allow their passage.

  • VCS Starter Pack - home Movi

    Hi guys,.

I have a problem with saving a customer Movi to a VCS Starter pack on the Internet.

My design is the following: Movi - Internet - router - VCS Starter pack (no TMS). The VCS is connected to the local network with a single interface and is static using a NAT to the internet with the cisco router that lies in front of it.

I am able to record the movi for the vcs client if the movi is connected to the network local lan. The setting on the vcs are simple:

Default credentials - authentication - Check policy

By default, subzone - authentication policy - threat as authenticated

When I try to connect customer movi home (over the internet - without VPN) I get this message:

    I read

Cisco VCS Expressway Starter Pack - Cisco's TelePresence - Cisco VCS X5.1 Deployment Guide and I think I did all right, but because it doesn't work well I have right to sth.

  • RV042 vpn pass trough droping?

    Hello

I have a Linksys RV042 (defined as a gateway, Firmware Version: 1.3.12.19 - tm) witch I use to balance the load. Two difrent ISP, one in WAN1 defined for ip automaticlly and the other in WAN2 with a static IP address. The two set MTU to 1492.

On WAN2 I configured a VPN tunnel to another site where I have a Zywall 10w, witch works fine without any problems.

In the building, we have about 30 computers. Some of them use software that works through a vpn connection. This vpn connects ok until a point when juicing it immediately and it does not connect at least that I reboot the Linksys.

The newspaper does not say enithing.

I discovered that when I change the MTU or renew the IP address of the connection drop.

Is that it must do something with load balancing?

    It is out of memory?

Discount to zero might help but you must reconfigure everything.

    reflash the firmware.

    HOEP that helps.

  • Added to Roadrunner WRT54GL, no internet, I tried everything!

I installed my Wireless Linksys router for my Roadrunner connection, so I can get all my 3 computers online. I can connect a computer directly to the modem and of course, he can get online, but I get nothing with the router added into the mix. I searched here and on other forums for at least a week trying to get this working, but not luck. I know that this topic gets grew a LOT so I apologize, but I promise you I searched before making a new thread and none of the solutions work.

    Brief overview:

WRT54GL router (firmware 1.21 of tomato)

    Motorola SURFboard SB5101 modem

-Modem-> WAN port on the router

-router WAN port set to DHCP

-The value of the MTU 1500

    -Router IP 192.168.1.1 (default)

    -Modem IP 192.168.100.1 (default)

    -Nec DHCP LAN (range 192.168.1.100 - 253 * 255.255.255.0)

-router Ethernet port 1-> Host (only 1 computer connected at this time)

    -Computer configured DHCP

-MAC address of the computer that is cloned to WAN

As long as I turn on the modem first and then the router, WAN will connect just like it should using the IP/subnet/DNS/etc provided by the modem. The strange thing is that I can bring up the console for the router and the modem, and I can also ping the modem... so, everything seems to be set up properly on my end, but for some reason, I can simply not outside the modem for internet. In fact when I try to go on a site like google.com for example the browser says «Waiting for google.com...» "You would think that if there really was a problem for the internet, he would say"Looking up google.com", but maybe not, whatever. I know that I don't have the settings of the software/on my things messing PC upwards.

Here are the basic steps I used to put everything in place:

    1. connect the modem to the WAN port and computer with Ethernet 1 port

    2. set the router WAN port DHCP, save

    3. manually set MTU to 1500 WAN, save

4 clone the MAC of PC to WAN address, save

    5. set LAN ports DHCP, save

6 turn off modem, router and PC... let rest a few minutes.

    7. turn power on modem, wait until completely cooked

    8. turn on power up router, wait until completely cooked

9 power PC, enable LAN connection

At this stage in the console of the router WAN settings show the good MAC, IP, subnet, gateway, DNS and MTU. As I said before, I can successfully ping the modem and make appear the modem console, so there is obviously no problem of communication for the modem... it just won't let me on the internet!

Think it has something to do with the local network subnet is 255.255.255.0 and the WAN/modem being 255.255.252.0? They both must use the same subnet mask or is it still important? The 3 bytes of all the IP on the network should be the same, with just the last single byte?

Apart from that, I'm all out of ideas... I got this exact configuration works with my previous cable ISP (no-Roadrunner/Time Warner) with almost no configuration is not at all and I'm seriously about to go to another ISP if I can't get this to work.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you people.

(and also thanks for reading this rather long post )

(Mod Note: under the guidance of the compliance of the directive.)

Many people I fixed it and I feel pretty silly.  It turns out that in Advanced--> routing, under "Miscellaneous" all I had to do was passing from 'Router' to the 'bridge '.

    Duh.

Well blood I made things WAY too difficult.  Thanks in any case people!

I tried setting the IP MTU size to 1492 and 1500 on the interface of the router Dialer but I still get the same case. You have any ideas or places to look. We are able to establish a VPN tunnel from this location with a Linksys VPN router or router Drakor. This same router also works when you are using a DSL connection, requiring no PPPoE.

    Thank you

    JUan

Remove this line on the router:

IP nat inside source list Dialer1 160 interface overload

because this would cause the NAT router all encrypted packets which you don't want. On the PIX, you must change this:

NAT (inside) 0-list of access splittunnel

to reference the ACL sheep or add the 192.168.50.0 subnet in the ACL splittunnel.

On the PIX, enter in the following (I know they are there already):

    Outside 1500 MTU

    Within 1500 MTU

    MTU 1500 dmz

then save the config and rebooting, it must get rid of the MTU messages.

  • High EC of Reed-Solomon on 887VA with VDSL

    Hello

I recently implemented a C887VA-W-E-K9 router to connect to Vodafone fiber 80/20.  This is my first time setting a circuit xDSL from scratch on these routers, so I don't know if the config is 100% good - but it works anyway (much to my delight).

After a break-in period initial of unexplained CRC errors & header and chronically low download speeds (~ 6 Mbps download, download 19Mbps) the line seems to have "settled".

Despite said we would most likely be able to move because of our remoteness of cabinet 50Mbps, the router reports as possible synchronization regularly on 73Mbps and speeds in the 1980s.

Although nobody complained of any problems in the Office I know, I see the values of Reed-Solomon EC persistently high in the statistics for the VDSL controller.  The fact that the rest numbers are zero makes me think that it should not be as important?

Here is the result of sh controller vdsl 0, took about 30 minutes after I deleted the counters on it:

As you can see - the County of Reed-Solomon EC is already in 107 824 and he operates a rise into the millions.  It doesn't seem to be constantly special to him.

I've been in contact with our broadband providers who do not really able to help and insist that if we use the BT Openreach modem before our router is not a supported configuration.  Vodafone are also telling them the same thing when she was refitted.  I have also been told - I don't think - that the 887VA cannot support VDSL of 80/20, but the CPU on it barely exceeds 15%, even with the CBAC and active IPSEC, it seems pretty meaty.

Vodafone also gave me a load of settings which don't (I think?) apply to VDSL-e.g. VCI, VPI and VC-Mux/VC-based multiplexing?  I see no way to put these on the Dialer0 interface, and the ATM0 interface is administratively down as he used it.

Anyone can shed some light on this?

Is our "noise margin" too low?  A MTU mismatch cause this kind of problem? (currently I have no explicitly set MTU settings, and sh int shows like 1500 - which Vodafone said also we should aim).

I want to emphasize speed wise I ran speed trials consistently show download speeds ~ 70Mbps and download of ~ 18Mbps and there is no desync I've seen - so just what is causing these numbers of Reed-Solomon EC does not have a negative impact on the line or the quality of the service.

    Hello

In response to user889988, it's a very good point, suggesting an upgrade to the modem FW as Cisco has worked with BT to produce a specific code for UK trade.

    The fix is well documented and you can search;

    automatic operation mode

    internal service

    Modem ukfeature

Flash the firmware file name: [name]

BUT in this case, it is not necessary, 887VA have been shipping for a while (approx.<12mths), with="" later="" firmware="">

The index is the file name

    ... 35J.d23j

Earlier patched versions were 35 nd d. where are replaced by the foregoing.

It might be worth you checking the other orders above well (except the name of the firmware a file).

n.b.: operation automatic mode by default and does not show in the running configuration,

(HS control vdsl 0 contains "DSL Config Mode: AUTO ' well)

and "modem ukfeature" - you can see in the output of

    'show controller vdsl 0 console [number]' after the trains of modem DSL;

    you see something like: -.

    Force UKFeatureBit SET

There was once a link to the doc to the following, but I think it's a dead link now.
