setting screen resolution

I have been using a mid-2007 24 "iMac for many years, that uses the default 1920 x 1200 screen resolution.  I just bought a new iMac 27 "retina and the default resolution is 2560 x 1440.  I think everything on the screen is too small, or at least in comparison with my old iMac.  The Preferences screen gives you preset resolutions that you can adjust, but the next lower (larger text) is 2048 x 1152, which makes things too big.  Is it nothing, either buy by adjusting the resolution or settings, that would allow me to fine tune so the size is comparable to my old iMac?

In addition, said using a resolution scaling preferences window can affect performance.  What happen to you?

Thanks for any help.

Dan

A resolution using the scale will decrease slightly the graphics performance. If you play some high-end action game you may notice performance degradation. Type word processing, e-mail, navigation, etc. you will not see any difference.

  • My setting screen resolution

I readjusted my screen resolution on my Vista Home Premium to 640 x 480 to play with it. Now I can't get it back to its maximum resolution because the font and the size of the display on the screen are so big I can't scroll the bar to release on the page of the screen resolution. I restored my system to an earlier date to try to solve this problem, but it does not affect the size of the screen resolution. How can I get my computer back to normal?

Go to start / Control Panel / customization / police to adjust and set back default size.  If you can get to the DPI customice button, push it and set it to less than 100% backward, until the fonts are small enough for the small screen size, enough to make you reach the bar of resolution.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • My flex application to the setting screen resolution

    Hello
Is it possible to scale all components and the windows of my flex application when the user uses the resolution of the screen smaller then the one that I developed?

    Thank you
    Raanan.

After some reading, I found the solution. Each user interface component has the properties scaleX and scaleY, indicating the zoom (in or out). The default value is 1.0, so there is no zoom, but you can place 0.5 and the window will be 50% smaller.

There is no resolution 1368 x 768 in the available resolution list.

The graphics card hardware support different screen resolutions, but if the driver doesn't contain this resolution of the screen so that you cannot choose it.
I think so you re not able to choose this special resolution on the external display.

In my opinion it has nothing to do with the graphics card or with the screen, but only with the graphics driver.

    Hello

But especially if the display resolution is not available the graphics card driver does not support this resolution of the screen.

    Hello

The screen, or the screen resolution, resolution refers to the size of the whole image displayed on your computer screen. Specifically, he refers the number of picture elements, or pixels, which are displayed at the same time. A pixel is the smallest element on your computer screen, the more pixels, the more detailed the picture will be. With fewer pixels, display items will be larger, but there will be less space on the desktop for windows and the programs to run.

You can visit the link provided below for more information about the screen resolution in Windows XP.

  • Screen resolution problem. Cannot set above 680 x 480.

    Screen resolution problem

I have a dell latitude d630 2.5 GHz computer laptop under XP Professional 64-bit operating system.  The screen resolution will not be set above 680 x 480, and when I try to increase the computer stops with a black screen message that don't stay long enough onscreen to read.  Dell advised that they don't or support this machine with the XP operating system and that they have no drivers or other fixes for the problem.  I hope that you will be able to help and thank you.

    Hi dduck11,

    ·         What is the default screen of the laptop resolution?

You need to update the graphics (video) drivers for the laptop. I see that there are Windows XP drivers available for the same thing. Download and install the updated drivers to see if it helps.

  • How to manually set my screen resolution

My OS is Windows Vista Business
My graphics card is ATI Radeon HD 3650.
As far as I can see, they are incompatible.
I'm really fed up after more than two years of distorted on my screen content.  This is best illustrated by photos

the viewable area of the screen is 17 inches x 10.5 inches.  It is a ratio, as close as d * 5:3.
CatCC ATI had before 1280 x 960 or 4:3 and, of course, I looked fat in my pix (no comments please!)
So I put it 5:3.  It is why photos should now be good... but now I look emaciated, like something from "Roswell".
    Why?
It seems that I need something like 1280 x 800, but no such resolution is offered.

CatCC ATI offers resolutions of only...
    report 4:3 - i.e. 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, 1152 x 864, 1280 x 960, 1380 x 1050
    ratio of 5:3 - 1.e. 1280 x 768, 1380 x 1050.
    ratio 5:4-1280 x 1024

On Windows XP, it has been possible to set the resolution manually.  Now I can no longer do.
Is this a result of narrow programming Vista OS, resulting in limited options?
Or Dell just gave me the bad graphics card?
As it is, I can't have nothing to realistic appearance on the screen.  This is ridiculous in our technical age.

Is there a way to get around this?
Or am I finally stuck with a square that will always look like a rectangle, regardless of the resolution, I have chosen?

    concerning the will

    Hello

If you upgraded from XP to Vista or you bought Vista preinstalled, you check with Dell to see if there are Vista compatible drivers.

Dell provides drivers and Dell does not include material on buy operating systems pre-installed on their computers or cell phones, if it's not compatible...

If the graphics card is pre-installed as part of your Dell with Vista preinstalled OS, go to the Dell site and download the last Grapghics / video / Chipset for your computer model and operating system drivers.

  • How to set the lower screen resolution on HP Pavilion

I'm trying to figure out if its possible to lower my screen resolution of 800 x 600 on my HP Pavilion Sleekbook 14 - b010us running on Windows 8. I need to do that; It is the only way that I can get my pico projector to run using VGA to HDMI - I tried it with my Sony VAIO and it works perfectly. The lowest setting that I see on my HP is 1024 x 768, and it does not work. Any help? Don't want to have to buy a new projector - this one works very well and the HP laptop has a VGA port

I came across this same issue using the resolution option custom in the Intel driver manager and has had success using mode low resolution.  I had also edited the registry to force more options.  The registry change which resulted in several resolutions between 1366 x 768 and 1024 x 768, but nothing lower.  Windows 8 is not really designed for lower resolutions (at least, which is not the ideal targeted resolutions), so I guess that would be present on any standard notebook Windows 8.

However, I have relevΘ this site today to make sure I wasn't overlooking anything... and it seems that I was.  I don't know how I didn't have to check the option advanced settings for more resolutions.  This approach does not require mode low resolution to restart, but it's going to require a screen resolution > avancΘs > list all modes to get 800 x 600 option each time you need.

Let me know if this has answered your questions.

I just installed vista and everything was huge! I went screen resolution under Customize and there is no other options on the scroll bar expect I am the one on which is 640 X 480 at an average of 16-bit color, I tried to update the drivers for the card and the screen but its still the same, I also reinstalled vista but its still the same HELP!

    Change the screen resolution

Screen resolution refers to the clarity of the text and images on your screen. At higher resolutions, items appear sharper. They appear also smaller, so more items adapted to the screen. At lower resolutions, fewer items adapted to the screen, but they are larger and easier to see. At very low resolutions, however, images may have serrated edges.
