SFE1000p and POE

Hi all

This is my first post here and I really hope for more help.  I just took the SFE1000p so I could set up a small laboratory of VoIP at home.  I have problems with the POE.  (The only reason for which I needed)  He won't feed my phones at all.  That's what I have:

2 x 7960 G with firmware of the CSPC

1 x 7940 G with SIP firmware

1 x Polycom 321

Maybe I'm new with POE switches, but I was hoping it would be just a "plug switch and the phone" and everything would be fine, especially since it's all more or less cisco but cisco phones are the only ones not getting power.  Polycom has come forward, the 3 series of cisco don't get no power.  But when I check the status on the ports they like UP.  I already double checked that POE has been enabled for phone ports, but I can understand what to do past.  Can anyone help with this?

Thanks muchly...

Welcome to the community of Cisco.

EFM can only push 15.4 on four ports or 7.5W on 8 ports and also the power supplied is IEEE802.3af; who are not able to your phones. The next model 7941 and 61 are compatible 802.3af however. Unfortunately, your only option is to use the power for phones brick.

Here is a guide of the phone link, which should have all the information you need.

  • AIR-AP1231G and PoE

    Evening,

I have a number of AIR-AP1231G scattered in my factory. All are fed power inline injectors and are working properly.

I am wanting to buy a number of PoE switches that will have the task off the injectors inline for an easier game to the top.

I bought a Cisco 300 Series 10 Max PoE Switch port, however the AIR-AP1231G won't start when you plug into the switch. No light on the switch or the AP.

Oddly enough, I have an AP1242G AIR of what powers well without any problem of the switch.

Is there any configuration, I need to do on the access point so that it can turn on from the switch? The datasheet of the switch indicates that it is 802.3af. I tried the access point on the 10MP models of 28 p of the 300 series and no go.

Can someone tell me please in the right direction? I'm really lost and PoE is slightly beyond me at the minute.

    Hi Tim,.

    You are welcome

Yes, it's worth a try. The 1230 is shown as it is supported.

  • Questions SG200 - 50 p and PoE

    Community,.

I just bought a switch SG200 - 50 p to replace a WS-CE500-24LC, who had a limited duration (4) PoE ports.  I was running points of access Cisco 7940 IP Phone, Cisco AP1231 and AP1100 via PoE out of this switch.

When I try to connect these types of devices in the SG200 - 50 p they don't feed upward.  What is going on?  Why these devices (IP phone 7940, 7960, phone IP, AP1100 series access point, AP1231 series access point) do not get PoE switch SG200 - 50 p?

Is there a setting to allow these devices to receive switch PoE?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello

The modern series switches SGx00 accept 802.3af compatible devices.

A coursory look at these devices, they are pre standard POE.  Check the URL of questions below for answers regarding at least the phones.

But no where in the datasheet for the AP1231 I see that the AP 1231 is compatible 802.3af.

There is a solution in the URL below, that is to choose a switch that can provide standard and compatible POE.

  • PowerConnect 5548P Fatal Error - SNMP-F-BADTDOMAIN

I have a stacked with 6 units of 5548P switch and I followed their status and basic via SNMP using Spiceworks and PRTG info.  Yesterday we had a weird breakdown where all the ports on the unit 4 are off (indicator HDMI and StackID remained upward) affecting traffic and POE devices connected to this unit.

After the restart of unit 4, things are back to normal. Then, check the logs of the system, I found the following message is displayed. Has anyone seen this error before?

% SYSARE STCK-A-UNITMSG: UNIT 1 ID, Msg: % SNMP-F-BADTDOMAIN: invalid or not supported TDomain received - function SNMPNotifyG_TDomainAndTAddress2UdpAddress 2 * FATAL ERROR * task Reporting: NCCD. Thank you

I did some research about this error message and could not find a lot of information. The version of the software on the switch seems to be a very old version. The most recent firmware includes many improvements to SNMP and corrections where specific SNMP events would result in a switch to crash. A time to update the firmware of planning is the first step, I suggest you.

Once updated, then watching to see if this problem persists.

  • Why do I get Amber (light orange on replacement N2048P...

I just got a replacement from Dell switch.  We have two N2048, for some reason the replacement switch is amber display lights up but the when connected to our other N2048, it does not show this link color.  Anyone know why get us amber random link light?

Orange fixed means that the connection works at 10/100. The flashing orange avtivity link means that the port is an active push/pull and PoE is running.

  • SRW2024P phantom power

Do you know if this switch is capable on provision of PoE on the data lines (e.g. phantom power), so that a 1000Base-T can be fed up with PoE?

I can't find any information on the manual or the net.

I'm going to buy a 600 Routerboard (http://www.routerboard.com/pricelist.php?showProduct=55) which supports 1000Base-T and PoE at the same time, and I would check if the switch also supports.

    Thank you.

I had the chance of laboratory it. The results are positive. I'll post screenshots sometimes today.

  • Convert software SRW2048 SG300

In my view, the SRW series is the same as basic material the SG300 series.

Is there a way to update the firmware on the series SRW using firmware SG300?

The SG300 firmware is much more usable. Also I'd rather have consistency we have the old SRW2024/48 and new switches SG300.

    Bob

    David,

    You are on point.

the 300 series is an Update replacement and hardware and software of the oldest product SRW.

If you have purchased order p/n SRW2008 the updated version here in the United States that's so order p/n SRW2008-K9-NA

We made the change in order p/n for reasons of consistency so that if you ordered SRW2008 in the past you order now SRW2008-K9-xx

where xx is a code region for regulatory requirements and power.

SRW2008 was a linksys product while replacing, SRW2008-K9-NA, is for example a Cisco product that now takes care of switching L3, IPv6 and a bearable CLI and a whole bunch of new features.

    SRW2008-K9-NA has a cisco SG300-10 p/n internal.

  • Wired router with POE and Gigabit ethernet to run two AC1750 access points?

Hello, I'm looking for a recommendation for a wired router with POE and Gigabit ethernet to connect to both access to ceiling LinkSys AC1750 points internet routing on the WAN to a Virgin Media UK cable connection plug - can someone advise a good solution?

I'm a Home Office / Small Office so user there are several Wired's devices and a mixture of wireless clients. I need at least 8 ethernet outlets. Reliablity and speed performance are important, but not important enough to go overboard on the cost!

    Many thanks to you all.

I recommend a router Linksys (SMB) LRT214\224 and a switch POE LGS Linksys (SMB). This combination will be very fast and stable.

  • Injector POE 10 SX20 and tactile

    Hi all

Tap 10 includes POE as Touch 8 injector?

If this isn't the case, when we use 10 touch with the SX20 and there is no switch POE, CTS-POE-NIJ is necessary, I guess.

But we can control CTS-POE-NIJ separately on CCW, so if you forget to order CTS-POE-NIJ with SX20, what can we do?

10 Touch works with standard POE injector like that?

    http://www.TP-link.com/LK/products/details/?model=TL-POE150S

    Kind regards

    Kotaro

None of the documents I've seen says that the PoE injector comes with the Touch 10.  Because they were originally designed for the MX series include the port 10/100 PoE to connect to and the SX10 compatibility and SX20 has been a recent addition of compatibility (in TC7.2 +), I guess that if you ordered one, it would not come with the PoE injector.

The only documentation of note that I found (the SX80 administrator guide) says that there need to be a Midspan PoE injector, or to power it with a PoE switch.  So, any 802.3af injector that works with Touch 8 should also work fine for 10 touch.  (And Yes, a quick glance at the specifications, the device of binding TP that you linked seems to be a device that would work).

You can probably order the good injector PoE of CIsco on CCW, you just find the correct part number high range - similar to the additional licenses for endpoints - these can be a little hard to find if you don't know the right of departure (and, no, I don't know where to find the PoE injector but maybe someone else can help).

Otherwise, you can wait a few months and you will be able to pair it directly via the USB port (the TC7.3 release notes: "A Cisco adapter USB-to-Ethernet brand will be available in March 2015").

  • that switch for POE and 7940G phones?

I have 2 (and maybe soon other 5) 7940G phones to add to my network, which already has a Netgear POE capable switch. I have since discovered that early Cisco POE is not the same as current POE, and the switch is not supply phones.

I was looking at the addition of a switch with 8 ports to power Cisco SD208P phones, but I soon discovered that there only 4 POE ports, and I'm not sure that this switch will even be able to the 7940 G phones. And if the other 5 phones show up, I'll need two of these switches with no room for expansion of the network of the voice.

This switch will equip these phones?

Is there another little switch so I don't replace my existing infrastructure of switch to get these phones to work? Or should I throw the phones and get something newer that will work with the current standards of the OCB?

    Will,

I want to watch ESW520 8 ports switch, it will supply phones and will be the "*" VLAN configuration already in them.

Side note ' * ': This implies that you use VLAN100 and Cisco Voice system for the switch

  • PoE 3502i WAP & Catalyst 3550 and 4500

Guys we will deploy about 50 of the most recent WAP 3502i soon to a remote location hosted on switches catalyst especially 3550 and 4500.

My concern is the ability of these PoE power switches correctly to the most recent WAP.

Can someone tell me if there is some requirement of blade in the 4500 and the 3550 being able to feed these WAP?

I know that we can go back to bricks if necessary, but the decision must be made in the front so that they can be ordered if necessary BUT we would prefer PoE.

This has the advantage of what allows us to reset the WAP via lowering on the occasion of the port without a remote worker to get on a ladder to pull the plug.

    Thank you

    Hello

According to technical data sheets, it requires 15.4 W max, so if your switch is able to provide the same then no problem at all! Here is the link for the same thing, just search POE!

  • PoE to power a switch

Does anyone know of an Ethernet hub or switch that can be powered from Power Over Ethernet?  I have a location without electricity but with an Ethernet jack.  This would allow me to extend the network there without having to invest in the walls of the electrician and opening etc.

    Thank you.

There are switches that can provide Poe or be powered by PoE equipment (such as Netgear and TP-Link) network suppliers. It is also possible to use a separate PoE injector for the provision. For switches/routers without possibility to be powered directly by PoE, a PoE splitter can offer an alternative solution. There are some limits of voltage and current (and temperature) that must be respected. In addition, always check the construction and electrical instructions for your country.

  • I get my internet through a Repeater.  There is a POE carrier then online, then a router adapter yet.   Can I use an Airport Extreme with POE to improve my WiFi range?

I live in Baja California Surinamese no cable.  You want to improve WiFi.  Not sure how to interact with a POE.  Tried to set up the airport without a bit of luck.  Appreciate some feedback.

If the connection between the POE (Power over Ethernet) device and the AirPort Extreme is a wireless, then you will not be able to extend the network Wi - Fi of the OCB in the extreme. This is possible with an another AirPort base station.

In addition, only a particular model of the base station AirPort Extreme POE supported wired connections. It was discontinued in 2007 and is model # A1034.

  • GS728TP: PoE fault

    Hello

We just purchased a Smart GS728TP PoE Switch.

Unfortunately, when we plug in a new device requiring of PoE, the switch must be rebooted before will recognize (and power) of the new device. It works without problem once this has been done.

I raised a support ticket and Netgear advised me, it must be a hardware failure on the device. They suggested that I return to the vendor.

My initial intention was to buy a GS724TP, but was apparently it is now obsolete and the GS728TP was a direct replacement.

We also have a GS748TP (purchased at the same time), and it works without any problem of PoE.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

Maybe I missed something obvious in the configuration. However, I have done a factory reset (and also waited 20 minutes to see if the switch recognizes the device without having to reboot).

    Many thanks in advance,
    Stephen

    Hello

I am very happy to find a topic referring exactly the issue I encountered.
I also received a replacement switch put the problem was always the same (latest firmware from the website, etc...).

After hours of troubleshooting, I discovered that it is related to the switch cascading behind it.

This GS728TP was connected on a GS724TP, both are POE switches, I disabled the POE feature on the two switches on the ports used for them and no problems cascading more.

I don't know if you've had the same configuration, but in my case, it is now resolved!

    Kind regards.
