SG500 5 GB SFP module

Hello

I was wondering what fiber SFP module that I use to stack 5 GB SG500 referrals.

In the data sheet it is said SFP - 10 G - SR can be used for battery of 10 GB switches of SG500X, but does not say if she can or cannot be used on the SG500.

I use mulitmode fiber and the distance is less than 200 m.

Thank you.

Tom, this was to be the most infuriating conversation to read. The poster kept asking what FPS to use for exploitation at 5G FIBER, and you kept giving him options of COPPER to a limited cable length. He said several times that length copper SFP fixed does not work because of the switches being some distance.

Girard, according to the Guide of Directors, 10GbE fiber will only work at speed and can not 'falling' at 5GbE. There is no module fiber that run to 5GbE, only 1 GbE and 10 GbE. If you need fiber, your uplink is limited to 1GbE, as the SG500 does not support fibers 10GbE.

    Hi Experts,

I would like to know if a channel of ether can be created using two different SFP modules IE using

    Thank you

I have tried something like this in production. But bearing in mind that you can group copper and SFP interfaces in etherchannel so they have the same speed, L2/L3 config etc I think it's possible... but not 100% sure

  • For Fast Ethernet SFP modules

    Hello

We are looking for fiber-to-ethernet converter.

Is there any SFP module that plugs directly into the Fast Ethernet to a switch port.

Please visit the following link: -.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/prod/collateral/modules/ps5455/ps6578/product_data_sheet0900aecd801f931c.html

He said "the Cisco100BASE-X Form Factor Pluggable SFP (Small) (Figure 1) is a hot output device that plugs into the Fast Ethernet ports, dual rate Fast/Gigabit Ethernet ports or Gigabit Ethernet from a Cisco switch ports or a router, which connects the port with the fiber cabling network.".

If this module can be plugged into any port of FE, is it compatible with Cisco switches only?...

    Please reply,

    Thank you

    Amit

The SFP port is just a place where the optical SFP is sitting in the switch (connect internally to power, data bus, etc.). SFP offers you the possibility to install a plug-in to adapt to the requirement of the network; If short-range fiber, fiber long reach or same RJ45 without changing an entire line card or switch.  SFP ports are integrated in the switch by a manufacturer, not bolted on after.  The specification for the connector module and SFP interface is detailed in an SFP MSA (multi-source agreement); designed to offer a platform in the industry to build.

If your switch has a fixed electric port and you do not have access to power (for a converter to media or other), then the terminal switch will be replaced by a device with a fiber interface option. That, or you'll find a power on fiber system with enough power to drive a Media Converter (which I don't think that there are still).

    I hope this helps!

  • can I use both optical and fiber sfp modules?

    Hello

I have 2 stacked 3548 P PowerConnect switches. The top switch got uplink fiber of 1 MM (G1) to another switch in a different building. If the top switch has 1 free uplink port and the lower 2 switch free uplink ports. Recently, we bought 2 servers Poweredge R620 and I would like to connect them to the Gigabit ports. The 'normal' switch ports allow only 100 Mbit/s, so I plan to buy 2 modules SFP 1000Base-T (for copper) to connect to them.

Is this feasible? Can I use G2 on the top switch for SFP 1000Base-1 T? Is this allowed?

    Kind regards

    Erik

Yes, it's quite feasible. The connection will be configurable the same 100 Mbps ports. Here is a link to the part number for the 1000Base-T transceiver.

The X Catalyst 3750 - 12s switch is a based FPS you don't need SFP transceivers. Take a look at table 6 to the Cisco Gigabit Ethernet transceiver Modules compatibility matrix for details on the supported transceivers and the OS release that they are taken care of.

    Hello

The switch supports modules 1000-SX and 1000-LX. Those aren't Fiber Ethernet, fiber channel storage. The 5324 does not support the Fibre Channel.

  • Trouble connecting Netgear XS748T to Ubiquiti UniFi US-48-750W via Port SFP +.

We bought a new switch Netgear XS748T and try connecting to our existing network which consists of several switches of Ubiquiti UniFi US-48-750W, and we try to connect using the SFP + 10 GB ports on the two switches. We have a Direct Link SFP + SFP + DAC, passive, 1 m, cable AWG30, we bought at Amazon / 10Gtek and when we try to use this cable between the Ubiquiti switch and the Netgear we get no link activity.

However if we use the same cable between two of Ubiquiti switches it lights immediately and works very well, the same is true if we use the same SFP + cable between the switch Netgear XS748T and a XS728T that we must also. Its almost as if the switches detect the same manufacturer at the other end and right link up but when its manufacturer another pass on the other end, it does nothing.

It is very aggravating, and Im going to be obliged to return the new Netgear switches. Can someone make a suggestion or confirm if they should or may not work? Everything simply connecting switches together using a cable of copper works very well but since our current switches don't support 1 GB via copper it provides not enough bandwidth for our use so we really need the port SFP + 10 GB to give us the uplink.

Here is a link to the modules SFP + cable, we bought:

    https://www.Amazon.com/DP/B01LSGGUOY/ref=twister_B01M0ER4M0?_encoding=UTF8&PSC=1

It seems that I solved the problem myself. I bought a set of:
    10Gtek for Cisco SFP - 10 G - LR, 10 Gb/s Transceiver SFP + module 1310nm 10km

And the LR version worked instantly. I honestly don't know what's the difference between a SFP + SR module and a module LR SFP +, but for some reason any LR module has allowed these two switches to connect.

Here are links to the modules and the cable used in case anyone needs a solution to this:

  • PowerConnect 2824 Ports SFP does not

We bought a new switch 2824 with a corresponding to SFP module replace old 2724 PowerConnect and SFP module.

After the configuration of the switch and installing it, we were able to get a connection on our uplinked to fiber.
SFP light illuminates and flashes from time to time, and the switch detects correctly module SFP is inserted and that the fiber is connected.  We can see the insertion of the SFP is detected and the switch for change of fiber mode by looking at the output of the console, and the web administration port status page lists the port as "ComboF" when the SFP is inserted and the fiber is connected.

However, the switch always indicates that the port State is down.  (The port is not administratively disabled.)

The old switch works very well with the old SFP module.  The new switch does not work with the old or the new module SFP.  We tried two combo SFP ports.  We also checked that the fiber itself is fine. We cannot get the new switch to display the drop-down list port status that up when you use the SFP. We tried to completely reset the new switch by removing the configuration file via the boot over the serial connection menu and re-run the initial configuration wizard, but the port still won't go up.

    Any ideas?

After a few tests yesterday, we determined that part of auto-negotiation must be disabled for switch work with our copper and fiber Media converters.

The 2724 works very well with our media converters, with auto-negotiation enabled.

The 2824 works very well with auto-negotiation enabled when it is connected to an another SFP transceiver in building switch.

But when we introduce the Media Converter in the path, the 2824 will bring only the link up if you disable auto-negotiation.

    So far, everything looks good.

  • PowerConnect 6224: Dell SFP + port supports combine Dell SFP?

I have a Dell Powerconnect 6224 switch and I installed a Dual Port SFP + Module of adaptation for PowerConnect
6200 series at bay2 at the rear of the switch. I inserted a transceiver, SFP 1000BASE-LX, wavelength 1310nm 10km Reach in the SFP slot + and the other end is connected to a connector SFP 1gbe. I don't have any link. My question is if Dell SFP ports + supports SFP transceivers or it only supports SFP transceivers +?

I checked the ports to help an SFP + SFP +, 10GbE, copper Direct Attach cable Twinaxial, and link LEDs are lighting up.

I believe that the SFP ports + back work with SFP transceivers. Ports before combo will work with SFP transceivers. Another thing to look at is the cable being used. Don't forget that there are specifications that are compatible with transceivers FPS are you wanting to use. A SFP + SFP connection would require that the SFP transceiver + supports a connection of 1 GB.

    Hope this info helps.

  • 62xx to 62xx via SFP + 10GBase-LR

    Hello world

a battery consists of two 6224P, I use two FC SFP + modules (couldn't dig up D/PN, wink will be soon attached)

g23 mastery (but any other SFP +) via FC to third 6224P

now I see that the link is there, at least both ends indicate link is there and no problems reported, yet...

I can't start with, both ends ping each other

I like to leave the third switch in stand-alone mode, just a CF link between it and the battery

Why they can't see each other? needs to check/make sure first?

    Thank you very much.

You want to switch master/general switchport mode implemented on ports for connection of the battery and the stand alone. On the PowerConnect 62xx switches, you must use general mode if you want to allow traffic from management on the switch on the PVID.  If you use the Trunk mode, you will not have the default VLAN on these ports.  The ports will only allow labeled traffic.

    example of

    Console # configure

Console (config) # interface ethernet e11

    mode console # switchport general

Console # switchport General allowed vlan add 100 tag

Console # switchport General allowed vlan add 200 unidentified

    Console (config-if-1/g1) #switchport pvid General 1

    Console # end

This suppose you are wanting to connect switches only to layer 2 and layer 3 (routing).  If you route and want to switch to communicate through Layer 3 you will need a range of IP addresses and isolated VLAN. Then, set connection ports between the devices as a switchport access with the specified VIRTUAL local network.

  • Connection of 10 x SFP - 10 G-SR-S to an Interface of 1 G

    Hello

I have a router ISR4451-X, which comes with 4 x 1GE interfaces, and I want to connect it to a switch C4500-X, which comes with 16 x 10 G interfaces. I use SFP - 10 G-SR-S on the C4500 and want to know what SFP module, I need to use on the ISR4451 to plug these devices together.

It is even possible to connect a router that has a 1GE to a switch that has a SFP 10 G-SR-S?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best, ~ zK

No - you must use a facility such as either:

1 GLC - T (copper 1 Gbps transceiver) to 4500-X end in the regular cat 5 copper interface on the router, or

    2. something like the GLC-SX-MM (transceiver Gbps fiber multimode 1) at both ends.

A SFP 10 G-SR-S cannot connect to any or 1 Gbps transceiver interface. 4500-X SFP ports are backward compatible and accommodates 1 Gbps SFP transceivers.

  • can you connect the SFP - 10 G - SR low-support to SFP 1000BASE-SX?

    Hello world:

    today I use the SFP + 'SFP - 10 G - SR' in Cisco Catalyst 2960 S-48TD-L connect to the SFP 1000BASE-SX to 6509 WS - X 6724-SFP module.

the port setting is master, but they do not work, even the light don't flush. Then, I also use the SFP 1000BASE-SX to replace SFP + SFP - 10 G - SR in

2960 S-48TD-L, then they cany working.

I look to the top of the cisco data sheet, there is no roadmap to satament database 10G sfp + can't low support 1 G sfp. So, I want to confirm the problem.

Otherwise, the 10 FPS + can only use for 10G SFP +; can't go down the suport 1 G SFP.

This means: If you want to use the 10 G SFP + the other old device also need to replace.

Thank you ~ for your help!

    Hi Marvin,.

I found this conversation today, because I'm looking for an answer on a question similar to the question that Jerry asked, at the opening of this discussion.

So my problem is this. In a certain place, I need two 10 GB and a connection of 1 GB on an optical cable. To cut costs, I tried with WS-C2960X-48FPD-L, but because it contains only two ports of SFP +, I tried with two WS-C2960X-24PD-L which will be connected with the battery modules.

Then, having two WS-C2960X-24PD-L, I have 2 x 2 ports SFP + 1 GB. There are two open questions:

    1. can I put 1 GB transmitter SFP module SFP + port (that I have a connection of 1 GB at remote site)?

    2. can I use two switches to 24 ports mentioned 2960, in a way that I use one of them for the two connections of 10 GB (using ports SFP + 10 GB connection) and the second member of the battery so that we (2 available) port SFP + is used to 1 GB SFP connection (using the SFP port + as mentioned in question 1)?

I'm not sure if your previous statement covers my questions, because it is not clear if the 1 GB SFP transceiver can be inserted in the port SFP + WS - C2960X - 24PD - L (or any other a port SFP switch +).
