Shift the Lightroom settings

I swear to you that you used to be able to move the sliders in Lightroom back using the arrow keys. Now he's moving just behind the following image. Have they changed it? How can you make precise adjustments now?

Click name of adjustment. You can then use the + and - keys to move the control to the top and bottom.

  • Recovery of the Lightroom settings

    Hello

I'm just complete an involuntary migration from XP to Windows 7 due to a failure of the computer. Fortunately, I have access to records of the old system.

I have Lightroom configuration / work and I was just wondering if there is some way I can recover my old XP system discs Lightroom settings. I got a backup of the library, but I still seem to have lost a few changes. It is not the end of the world if I can't get back them, but I was wondering where I can find use in version of the old system Lightroom Catalog.

    Thank you.

The catalog will be everywhere where you are (you can choose and better on one drive other than when the operating system or image files are if possible), or if you just use the default location in the my pictures folder. It ends with .lrcat.

Your preferences file will be Documents and Settings / [username] / Application Data/Adobe/Lightroom/preferences folder on XP.

I solved the problem, thanks to other threads. The problem is to have a few key stuck in the keyboard, particularly the F-keys. In my case it is F8, which makes the keyboard behave strangely.

    Questions 1)

Not because the LRDATA file is fair previews, what LR displays on your screen for a faster loading of the image and will be recreated. The previews only stored in the folder LRDATA is the basic overview created at time of importation for the display of thumbnails and previews of 1:1 for images that you have actually looked in the Loupe View or I guess that appears in the develop module.

He get all the data to create the image themselves file extracts.

If you have several files on your system that have pictures in them and you select one of them that you have not looked at in a while, you will notice LR creation of previews for these images, there will be 3 white dots in the upper right corner of the thumbnail. It's LR creation of previews for the thumbnail view. If you scroll quickly in the grid view, you'll notice a few thumbnails of images are gray, until you stop scrolling, then the upper left tile will come in clear view and the white dots will appear on the other images. It's LR creating previews for those of other images. Once LR created the preview of thumbnails that are on your screen, white spot will disappear. If you scroll down again, you will see more white dots

If you switch to another folder that LR begins again create preview images in this folder. The total number of previews created and stored based on caching of the preview you have in the catalog settings dialog in the management of the files tab.

If not, you need not the LR Previews.lrdata folder. Whenever LR is not very good this folder with a catalog he recreates it to store previews in.

  • Saving the lightroom develop settings

I have a question about registration of the development parameters in L ightroom CC 2015 once you remove a photo from the catalogue. My workflow is done in camera raw. Although I the have not used in the past I always thought that a . Xfile MP would save all adjustments of development keywords, flags etc. Now that I've tried it, I see that's not true.  I havet seems to save develop settings, but if you delete the photo, then re-import - it opens with the correct settings, but you cannot modify any of the final adjustments.  It also does not extract together with flags or color adjustments.

Is there a way to do ? Normally, I like to keep my small catalog by removing pictures I do not wish to use it on a regular basis, but I can want to bring their return make some additional adjustments and then save them again once I was hoping that this economy and XMP file would allow me to do, but it doesn't appear to save the metadata not the setting of development parameters. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

I think you'll find (or you've already found) that Lightroom was not designed to be used in this way. Since you say that "any help would be appreciated", my Council, similar to the above, is to use Lightroom as it was expected, and you won't have these problems. The Act of deleting the photos is what you lose information and simply creates extra work for you. Don't not deleting photos is less work and ensures that you do not lose this information. The idea of keeping the small catalogues manages also against the idea behind the design of Lightroom... you want Lightroom to be the tool by which you can find all of your photos and you browse all your photos. There is no advantage to smaller catalogues and no disadvantage for large catalogs, when used correctly.

  • Is there a way to re set Lightroom to the original settings, I've been playing with it and got somewhere that I don't know how to get out of... not particularly computer savvu

Is there a way to re set Lightroom to the original settings, I was playing with it and has gotten, somewhere, I don't know how to get out of. Not very computer savvy

    For starters, stop Lightroom

    On Windows, do the following

Click the Windows Start button and in the search box type: -.

    %AppData%\adobe\lightroom

    Then press Return\Enter

This will take you to the folder Lightroom (see image below)

Select the Preferences folder and click on delete to send it to the Recycle Bin.

Close the Lightroom folder, and re-start the Lightroom program.

  • If Lightroom import parameters of the disc or replace the disc of the catalog settings

When the 'up' arrow key appears in a thumbnail and comes up with the message:

The metadata for one or more of these photos has been changed by another application. Lightroom import settings from disk or replace drive with the catalog settings?

What exactly means?  This seems to happen every time I have to export an image in PS (CS5) and back to LR.  What has changed exactly?  Which settings are imported if I choose "import settings from disk."

I think it would be best to not think in terms of what LR 'applies' changes. Because LR stores the changes made in the catalog, the changes are "applied" to the image on export. I think that it would be preferable to use the term 'view' instead of 'apply '.

Then: when LR, you open a RAW image in PS the LR-changes made until then are displayed in PS and then "apply" when you save a PS (don't forget PS CS5 opens the RAW image).

If you do more edits in PS and save these, LR will display these changes - you will then notice on back of the PS, LR will be re - load the image. On 'Save' PS applies (and here the term 'applicable' is correct) the changes by writing them in the image file. LR reads the saved file and displays it with PS-changes.

But the LR catalog settings are still in the State of the point in time before you open the image in PS. It is so because PS writes the changes to the image file and not in the LR catalog. So now you have a set of changes in the LR catalog and another set of changes in the image file.

To describe it as ' a little 'too top' with the PS applied, changes but it really has not applied the "isn't making the case because LR 'applies' only to export. LR doing at this stage is read the image with PS-changes file and display the image accordingly.

But LR "feels" that what is displayed is not what is in the catalog online.

This is the conflict that Lr wants to solve by popping the message.

You say "if so, then you really would like to import settings from disk so that the file will be PS changes, right?  "

Yes, if you wish that your changes-PS to replace your previous changes LR.

Now, I came to where I do not fixtures in PS that I can do in LR - and I do not fixtures in LR that PS is preferable to a workflow.

In practice: in PS, I do the cloning and also noise reduction when the LR - NR is not enough (for example in the noisy analyses).

I don't do any tonal or color adjustments to the PS because it is easier in Lr and gives me better results.

When the message appears, select 'Replace disk settings' - it keeps all Lr changes and does not overwrite the cloning.

  • The RAW settings synchronization between Lightroom/ACR/PS

    Hello

I understand that when the files back and forth between Lightroom and Photoshop, it is possible to open a RAW file as a smart object and then have the opportunity to make adjustments to this using the ACR RAW file in Photoshop, so to keep the possibility to edit the original RAW file.

The questions I have is, let's say that I open a RAW file in the PS as a smart object, make my changes and then save it as a PSD so the file is displayed in the Lightroom library. If I may make changes to the original RAW file (the same as one that was open to the PS as a smart object) inside Lightroom, is there a way to make these changes be reflected in the PSD file that refers to the original RAW file? And also, if I make changes to the RAW file while inside of the PS using ACR, is there a way to have these changes to be transferred to the RAW file in Lightroom library?

I hope it was not too complicated and thank you in advance for your help!

To view changes to a RAW file in LR in Adobe Camera RAW you must save these changes LR in an XMP Sidecar file or the file itself if you use the DNG file format. To do this automatically in catalog preferences, you will need to check the Auto option write changes to XMP.

Then, when you open this RAW image in ACR, you will see the changes. If you make another change to this RAW file in ACR when you get back to LR you have to load these changes in LR.

  • After the Lightroom CC upgrade, my images have lost all data in the history tab of the develop Module. The settings are kept on the right side of the module, but the history is empty.

Hello, please to offer any assistance that you can think of - I am missing important data!

I'm on a PC, Windows 8.1, I installed the new CC in Lightroom and then updated my catalog. The history of my images disappeared completely. You can see in the following screenshots:

This second screenshot is Lightroom 6, in the updated catalog to date, same exact image/file:

Option 1) close all applications and restart your system. Move the subfolder with the LR CC catalog convert file and file Previews on your desktop or any other folder outside of the Lightroom folder. The Lightroom file should then contain the file catalog Lightroom 5 and Lightroom 5 Previews catalog folder. Launch of LR CC and try to restart the conversion of catalogue LR 5. When he invites you on the catalog choose the option manually select a catalog. Navigate to the folder with your LR 5 catalogue and file Previews. It should detect while she has need of conversion and repeat the process.

Option 2) If this does not work I suggest to try the same procedure using your backup file of the most recent catalog LR 5. Move the file to LR 5 catalog current folder AND found in a separate subfolder outside of the Lightroom folder. Copy the catalog LR 5 backup file and relaunch LR 5 (not CC). This will cause LR 5 to create a new folder of previews. Confirm that the new Lightroom 5 catalog Previews folder was created using the Finder or Windows Explorer. LR 5. close and restart LR CC.

  • I can't find the button 'settings' at the top right. Where else might?

I would find this button because I want to activate my Trend Micro Security thing in the toolbar. I read that the first step to do is to find the 'settings' button at the top right, but I don't think it's there.

I don't know if it's setting button in Firefox or the button settings in your software from Trend Micro.

To see if you have Trend Micro modules in Firefox, you can open the page modules using one of the following methods:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. On the right side, look for the Trend Micro and other add-ons toolbars. If they are disabled, they will be down on the gray background with a corresponding activation button.

    A little luck?

You can also view the Plugins category. If you find Trend Micro plugins here, make sure they are set to "Always enable" instead of "Ask to activate" since the plugins that work across the world don't work well with the "Call to activate" (click-to-play) function

  • Lightroom settings settings lost after edit in Photoshop

    Hello

I've been using Lightroom for a few weeks now. Recently, I came across a problem which seems to bother me more and more each time.

Here is an example of my workflow that illustrates my problem.

    1. I opened my. NAVE in Lightroom files

    2. I make some adjustments

    3. I open the photo adjusted in Photoshop.

    4. I use the healing spot, pen tool, tool etc.

    5. I save the file and return to Lightroom.

6 Lightroom create a .tif with changes to PS file.

    7. open the new file with PS edit in LR develop mode

    8. my initial settings of the LR disappeared. The changes are visible, but the settings have disappeared. For example, I have used the adjustment brush for the face for very precise adjustments, now these settings have disappeared.

For example, if I used the adjustment brush on the face, go to photoshop, make some changes, go back to lightroom and realized I'm not happy with the original settings on the face, the settings are gone. So I have to make the adjustments back into the original file from lightroom and make the same changes to the PS or I must again select the specific area by using the adjustment brush in lightroom. These can be a big hassle if I have to go back between photoshop and lightroom.

Is it possible for me to maintain my setting when switching from photoshop to lightroom?

Which option you are using when send you the image to Photoshop?

I see that it works as expected. It was created a new copy of the image with all the settings you have made before LR. This file was opened in Photoshop. When you came back to LR you have a photo with all the settings you made first in LR and PS. But you can never change the LR settings on this picture more.

The above key combination resets preferences, which is frankly, a huge PITA to fix later.  Much better to reset tools at first.  I have reset usually all the tools, because there is no downside that I can think of, and it's nice to bring back them to their default state.
