SimplePass 'upgrade '.

HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook, Genuine Windows 7 64 bit

Recent "update" of SimplePass 2011

After several months of operation, I wanted to re - register a fingerprint.  When opening SimplePass 2011, I see that an upgrade is available.  I chose to download and install.   Now, I can't open SimplePass at all.  It always seems to work at startup and I can always use it to open a session, but I cannot open the application to record new data.  A pop-up advises could help restart windows or restart the application.  Neither does.   Any help out there?

I solved this dilemma, at least for now.  I myself am supported involved HP and the end of history was to restore to a previous point, when everything was fine.  This did the trick and got the "upgrade to 2012" uninstalled and returned to the use of the original 2011 SimplePass.   All I have to do now is to recycle myself to ignore the upgrade offer.

and btw, is there a way that I can return the version that came with it when I bought it in 2013?

    @Xain_Basit

Depending on the exact model of your laptop, you should be able to use this driver of validity:

    sp58900 validity sensor V4.4.234.0 W8 - W8.1

It is impossible to know which version of SimplePass you use - depending on what you were using before, one of them will work for you:

    Series 6 (AuthenTec)

    sp63224 HP SimplePass V6.0.100.276 Win7-8

    Series 8 (Softex)

    sp71729 HP SimplePass V8.01.46A 32/64 bit W7 - W10

Understand that the 8-series is NOT a newer version of the series 6 - here are two completely separate programs and they are not compatible.  Choose one or the other.  If you choose wrong (according to you), you can remove the 'bad' program > reboot > install the other series.

You must not have installed other HP drivers for Windows 10 - you want to have your drivers HP installed, and THEN you try to process logon Windows native 10 fingerprints, THEN you try to treat SimplePass.

    GENERAL instructions:

    • Create a Restore Point
    • Update your drivers HP for Windows 10 versions of the HP drivers
    • Ensure the Windows Update are up-to-date (unless you have 'deferred' updates to update, updates are automatic)
    • Configure Windows 10 fingerprints fingerprint logon (including the PIN)
    • Restart and sign
    • Install the driver of validity
    • Restart and sign
    • Install your choice of SimplePass
    • Restart and sign

  • HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC: hp simplepass 2012, do not configure Windows 10

I recently installed the Windows 10 operating system, as many have, and I'm having a problem with SimplePass 2012.

The reader will not be 'new' prints to access my account.  (I made a new admin ACCT, after having the issue "Critical Error" with the W10 start menu.)

I tried reinstalling the SP 2012 program to fix any problem of corruption, and the stalls of the reinstall at the stage of "Please wait while Windows configures HP SP 2012."

    Any thoughts?

    @Ronaldgg

The oldest program of series 6 HP SimplePass not was not written to run on Windows 10 although I heard that it will offer service on the new operating system Windows 10 indeed.

I hope you have at some point in the past remembered to export your Webcards. If it is necessary to remove and then install the SimplePass program, you will need this backup on importation of your Web sites / passwords again in the SimplePass database.

    I can offer the following:

    Topic title:

Procedure - updated / (install HP SimplePass Re)

    ===============================================

    General considerations:

    • Windows updates must be installed and up-to-date before installing HP SimplePass and / or repair operations
    • You can create a Restore Point in order to protect your 'place in the sand '.
    • If you have not previously exported your Webcards: you may lose your Webcards (Web site passwords). Assuming you get the program to work, but still manage to lose the existing database, this means that you will have to perhaps start and reset (back) all of your websites and passwords. Proceed at your own risk.
    • There are two sets of HP SimplePass:
      • AuthenTec series 6 HP SimplePass and Softex series 8 HP SimplePass
      • The two series are not compatible with each other
      • You cannot migrate from series to series (or back)
      • You can "pass" series

    ======================================================

    Driver is first!

The pilot of validity must be (re) installed first, i.e. before the SimplePass program is installed, repaired or otherwise manipulated. It's hardware - fingerprint reader and his driver - be ready when other programs 'come on board'.

Looking for a Driver for sensor of validity at least for Windows 8.1 - better Windows 10.  If site supports your computer Web page of the driver does not provide a driver, there may be in the document, you can use a compatible driver.

See the titled subject: Bits and drivers

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    HP SimplePass is planned

Next: once you have installed / reinstalled your valid driver and restarted the computer, decide what methods will offer the best chance to get the HP SimplePass working on your computer program.

NOTE: success may require more of an essay or a combination of methods. the program is old and different environments.

    • Repair your program's existing HP SimplePass (database) in programs and features
    • Download the latest version of the 6 series HP SimplePass and overload manually (installation) program on top of your database (program)
    • Remove the program HP SimplePass existing in the system > Reboot > download and install the last programme of the series 6 HP SimplePass > if available, import your file, .tsd (Webcard backup)

    Finally:

    • Switch to series 8 HP SimplePass for Windows 10. Note that you must reset it, i.e. to create all your passwords site Web from scratch. You cannot 'import' your 6 HP SimplePass in series 8 HP SimplePass series password database. Don't forget: the two series are different programs.

  • Dv7-7338ea envy: HP Simplepass Software

    Hello

After resetting my laptop, I have more HP simplepass installed if the fingerprint reader / biometrics journal does not work.

I tried to find somewhere on the site HP simplepass from download but nothing appears. Is there a link? Web site can not find all the software / drivers for the laptop or the other.

    Thank you

    @SARColbert

Apparently, there's an issue with the page drivers for the system.  Haver us has reported the issue for this system and others who are affected.

The following valid driver is designed for your type of system and is rated for Windows 8.1 (that should be enough to run with Windows 10):

    sp58900 validity sensor V4.4.234.0 W8 - W8.1

There are two different series / major versions of the HP SimplePass program.

The original / AuthenTec version of the program:

    sp63224 HP SimplePass V6.0.100.276 Win7-8

The Softex version of the program:

    sp75196_HP_SimplePass_V8.0.1.53A_W7 - W10-32/64-bit

    Comment

The oldest AuthenTec 6 HP SimplePass series is no longer supported, the company that wrote the program is no longer active.  However, the program is robust and well written - it can still run with Windows 10.

The new program is written by Softex; (Series 8) HP SimplePass is supported in Windows 7 through (and including) 10 Windows.

The two sets of SimplePass are NOT compatible between them; they cannot be on the computer at the same time.

Series 8 HP SimplePass is NOT an upgrade to the old 6 series program.

IF you were previously using the AuthenTec series 6 HP SimplePass

AND if you have a website / Export your webcards (.tsdfile name) password,.

then you may want to try reinstalling the series 6 (version 6.0.100.276).  The program may - or may not - work in your existing Windows 10 environment.

If you don't have any export of your webcards (.tsdfile name)

and/or if you used previously 8-series HP SimplePass (that is, a version 8.x of the program),

then you install the Softex series 8 HP SimplePass program.

If you were previously using series 6 HP SimplePass and the program will not work in your current operating system, then you must switch to series 8 HP Simplepass.

If you switch to 8 HP SimplePass series:

    • You must remove the series 6 HP SimplePass programs and features >
    • Restart and log in >
    • Install the 8 HP SimplePass series >
    • Restart and log in >
    • You start from scratch and create a new 'webcards', that is, site Web user ID and passwords for each of your connections.

If you install 8 HP SimplePas series.

AND you if have a vault to the export of your Web sites / passwords (file.opiname).

then (to retrieve your Web site login), you can import this backup Vault after installing the series 8 HP SimplePass program.

You can also use the latest - and different - Softex series 8 HP SimplePass.

Pass the series 6 (AuthenTec) to series 8 is completely OPTIONAL.  The only time you can be forced to swtich is where you can use (not more) of the old version (s) the program on your computer AuthenTec.

Understand that both programs, the series 6 version (s) of HP SimplePass and the versio (s) 8 of HP SimplePass series are NOT compatible:

    • You can "pass" series
    • You cannot have two programs on the computer at the same time
    • The series Webcard 6 HP SimplePass export file, that is, the file backup that you create to store your Webcard passwords and Web sites, is NOT compatible with series 8 HP SimplePass.  He must "start over" and create all new Webcards (called your vault entries) when / if you pass series 8 HP SimplePass.

  • ENVY of HP TouchSmart laptop 17: last version of SimplePass records is not some Web sites

It's frustrating, isn't it?  One might think that there is a definitive answer to a simple inquiry.

There may be such a response; I doubt that you will find it here.

In particular, the 8 HP SimplePass serial code could be a simplified version of a program written by Softex (Omni) that is provided to the markets of the company.   This is a personal observation based on nothing more than a guess.

Assuming for the moment that it is indeed the case, the full blown, Enterprise program (for which companies pay a lot of money) can indeed operate differently.  The algorithm used to detect Web site connections can be written differently and may be more sensitive to the many different methods that use some Web designers to integrate the username and passwords in a Web page.  It can even possible, given a fuller, more intellgent program, we could use an identification code of the user and the user name.

More simply put: I guess HP SimplePass program version is "only so smart" and that the code used to read the opening of website code is not smart enough to read a limited number of methods of login Web page.  If the site departs outside these methods or if there are errors in the Web page, and then poof!  HP SimplePass fails to read the Web login page.

Yet once, these statements are entirely based on conjecture and assumptions.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You run series 8 HP SimplePass.

AuthenTec program series 6 HP SimplePass former, either put to date, may be a little more robust that the newest program of round 8.  Although the series 6 is indeed 'old' code, it was written by an entirely different set of programmers - by another company - and it can react differently to the same websites.  6 HP SimplePass series works with Firefox and Internet Explorer.

You can "Switch" series; You cannot "downgrade".  The programs are "hostile" to another.  You must remove the 8 series before installing the 6 series.

It there is no guarantee, no matter.  Many computers, laptops or desktop computers, can run 8 series or series 6.  If yours is one of them, is something you can decide to try.  Joys and constraints to be your own boss and everything.

  • How can I activate SimplePass now that Google has blocked the Chrome Extensions

Recently, Chrome has been updated to block all the extensions that are not bought from their online store. My PC (a Pavilion dv6) came with HP SimplePass installed. I use it for all my online password management, but now it is blocked by the Chrome (my preferred browser).

There are, apparently, a SimplePass extension available on the site of the shop online chrome, but he says that it will work only with SimplePass version 8. I have version6. The current owner of the SimplePass - Softexinc.com - indicates anything about getting the software updates.

The combination of player SimplePass/ingerprint was part of the reason why I bought this particular PC in the first place. I'll be very disappointed if I never use it again. Please help me to re - activate this feature.

    Edited to add:

OK, it's even worse. I found a download for SimplePass version 8. But there is no upgrade path. Features of import/export of the two versions are incompatible, there is no way to migrate all data from my login/password from the old to the new version. Please, HP, address any of these problems:

-create a SimplePass upgrade to convert data from old formats

-develop a Chrome extension that works with SimplePass v6 AND meets the requirements of Google to allow it to run

-improve SimplePass 8 to be compatible with the (older) versions of SimplePass

    Hi all

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

I'll address the Chrome and extension of fingerprint reading question. I've solved the exact problem for a single user by following the steps in this thread: Chrome - policy disabled Simplepass extension

Other suggestions include the use of SimplePass on Internet Explorer and FireFox. Although, if you want to try to get Chrome working again, you can try the steps that I have proposed.

Here are the steps from the thread:

    1. uninstall your current version of HP SimplePass and install it (even if it is the same): HP SimplePass Identity Protection Software Version 6.0.100.276

    2. If it does not help: (it is more of a workaround than anything)

    (a) go to settings in Chrome. Search for the "Extensions" menu and click on "get more extensions".

    (b) in the Chrome Web Store, search for "SimplePass" and it should appear under the Extensions. Click on '+ free' to install it, then try to use it.

    3. you can try to reset the Chrome to default settings: reset the browser settings

4 system restore, just because the time travel can be useful: System Restore

    5. try the steps in an Incognito window (Yes, I just suggested that). Incognito mode disables all extensions by default (at least it's supposed to). You can re-enable any extensions, including ones site connection.

    6. download and install an older version of Chrome, then try to get SimplePass and connection extensions Web site works: Old Version of Google Chrome

If none of this helps, then I'll propose some complex measures. This requires working in Developer Mode.

1 switch in Developer Mode via the Extensions menu.

    2. Note the ID of the extension (for example, jilhkcaiaaepfiajaebpkmhonmfgabhf)

    3. go in C: / / Users / / AppData/Local/Google/Chrome/User/Data/Default/Extensions- name of the user account -/- extension ID -1.8 (or another number, you have a different number)

4 copy the path of the file.

    5. go back to the Menu Extension of Chrome and click «Load extension unpacked...» ». Paste or search the above path and press ENTER.

    6. the extension should now be re-created and active (or activate). You may have to restart the computer.

These measures should be sufficient to solve the problem, according to what experimentation I've done. For reasons of this problem, let me know what happens after trying each step.

I will continue to follow this thread, while playing with Chrome and SimplePass eventually discover more solutions. Please let me know your results. Thank you!

    • The Eagle sensor recommended is actually suitable for Windows 8.1 (and 8); the driver works in Windows 10.
    • The program supported the series 8 HP SimplePass is evaluated from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

IF you were using previously series 6 HP SimplePass (any version of HP SimplePass 6.x):

    • It is time to move as a result of program series 8 HP SimplePass supported.
    • Even if you have an export of your webcards (Web sites / passwords) of this older version of SimplePass, you can use file .tsd (import) series 6 in series 8 HP SimplePass.  The two sets of program are NOT compatible.  There is no program of conversion of encryption between the two programs.
    • When you switch to the supported HP SimplePass version, you must create a new database of your Web sites / passwords.   This means you must create all new connections to fingerprints.
    • The new export file "webcard" is called the vault to series 8 HP SimplePass program.  The suffix of the file is ".opi".  The export process is similar to the old SimplePass program; you export your vault entries from within the SimplePass program to the file .opi.  The file is encrypted - keep - the in a safe place.

  • Scan fingerprints of validity does not not on Windows 10

I downloaded the driver for validity on the site, but does not have my fingerprint reader. When I was running the previews started it worked and I was able to use Windows Hello. But now with the full version, it does not work. Is there an updated driver or one other device that might work?

Your solution may depend on your particular configuration.

You have HP SimplePass installed - and you didn't say whether or not it does - AND you run (a version of) the original program of the series 6 HP SimplePass (delivered) installed with your computer.  This series of the program may, or may not, to run in your new operating system Windows 10.

I've read the claims of one of the members who series 6 HP SimplePass, i.e. HP SimplePass probably version 6.0.100.276 - runs in Windows 10.  I can't verify this is the case.

    How?

Replace the existing driver of validity:

    • Uninstall - do NOT delete the driver from Device Manager
    • Reboot (restart) the computer and connect
    • Make sure your sign Options defined in the laptop settings

If your series 6 HP SimplePass program does not itself, i.e. the program starts and then berms, the start screen starts / stops / flashes / freezes, then you can try:

    • Hard Reset / forced Reset
    • 'Fix' the program SimplePass (programs and features)
    • Tryoverloading the program, that is, install the program on top of itself without removing the current program from the computer.

A strange combination of other factors are not

In all cases, you want to reinstall your driver validity sensor.

You can probably use the Driver for Windows 8.1 you already have:

    validity sensor V4.4.234.0 Win8 sp58900 - Win8.1

    Logon Windows native 10

Even if you do not use HP SimplePass - or if you have never used and don't even have it installed - once you have reinstalled the driver validity sensor, you could check / settings / manage your PC settings > accounts > Sign-in Options

Native Windows logon can you logged on to the computer with your fingerprint - up to now, it cannot connect to Web Sites.

Is it possible, since it is a refurbished unit, it has not been correctly set up at HP?

    Hi Donald,.

Welcome to the Community Forum of HP.

I'm not the only one to help you with this; I never - ever - was able to get the version of series 8 HP SimplePass software works correctly.  When I was able to run, he soon blurred place a small ball of code-waddle.  Sigh.  I use the 6 series, the old version of AuthenTec's HP SimplePass - is no longer on the list official "support" but used by many and, oh, so strong and vigorous.

However, series 8 is the official version of these days AND 8 series is the version that comes with the latest laptop computers.  Series 8 is the future.  We move.

If your HP SimplePass is a heap of smoking rubble (broken):

Jump down to about Page 10 (updated) - Look / search the Section Hard Reset séquence

    Next:

See the Section on Page 2 (updated):

HP SimplePass and fingerprint Scanner Support Document - Windows 8

    Then, if necessary:

Better, you can complete the procedure / steps in the section:

Procedure - updated / (install HP SimplePass Re)

    NOTES:

    • Observe the warnings that the series 6 and series 8 HP SimplePass are not the same program.  Do not try to install series 6 HP SimplePass on a computer on which you have already installed the 8 HP SimplePass series.  While it is true that we can term series 6 HP SimplePass on your laptop, you cannot have the two programs on the system at the same time.  They are not compatible - they were written by different programmers - they were written by competing companies - programs do not like each other.
    • Remember that series 8 has no 'fix' option for the 6 series mentioned in the Guide.  You need to reinstall the HP SimplePass software (available in the Guide, or in your case, Don, site Web on your computer supports pages).
    • For best results, do not skip the reboot / reboot sequences.  Windows like a good restart.  HP SimplePass really enjoys a good reboot sequence; the database is a fussy code fish.
    • If all else fails and you have tried everything and that the universe is against you - completely remove the program from the computer, perform the Hard Reset sequence - do not forget this isn't, won't erase your computer - and then, very slowly, start on the Section:

Procedure - updated / (install HP SimplePass Re)

    • Don't forget that if you want really to CONNECT using your fingerprint, you HAVE not even fingerprints - Windows 8.1 has its own connection software native of fingerprints that will at least you connect to Windows.  You cannot use it to control the Web sites, but you can get at least on the computer by using the fingerprint reader.
