Size of boot drive VM for tests VAAI

The Certification Guide to storage said in the section "Configuration of VMS and storage for VAAI - TTY, BlockZero and FullCopy Tests:

NOTE the virtual boot drive for the virtual machines used for the test should not exceed 6GB.

But according to the same manual, I have configured all VM startup disks size 20 GB.

It means that I should reinstall all VM 16?

When we created all our virtual machines using vSphere client, we made 20 G as the boot disk size.  We were able to pass all the tests.

It seems contradictory, but I think we're talking about the size of the virtual disk, and it refers to the size of the virtual machine hard file.  If your vmdk is too large, you will not be able to fit 8 virtual machines in your data store during the tests mentioned by figure 1-15.

  • Need info on max size of HARD drive available for Satellite Pro M30-813

    Hello

The question is mainly to be sent to Toshiba authorized support personnel. The limitation of the maximum size of a HARD drive internal that I could use with my Satellite Pro M30 - 813, what exactly?

Recently, I bought and installed seagate SATA drive of 160 GB, on which I installed WXP Pro and have been running for a while with no problems. Recently, I've been copying large amounts of data to an external hard drive to my new internal drive, and that the files have been copied, as I noticed have about 50 GB of free space left, I knew windows "delayed write failed" and a failure of massive wall without the possibility to recover the data. The system would no longer boot time and the entire MBR has been damaged. As a result, I lost all the data on my new drive.

Well, I realize that Toshiba is not responsible for additional hardware that I use with my computer laptop and who is not officially supported by Toshiba, I am sure that as an end-user of a Toshiba product, that I have the right to know a lot information of limiting size of HDD for my model of laptop. So I ask, representing technical support Toshiba to give me an official reply directly to my question.

    Thank you in advance,

    Hi Andrew

    > The question should mainly be addressed to Toshiba authorized support staff
I think that you are in the wrong place if you are looking for a response from an authorized Toshiba support.
This is a user to user Toshiba forum! You will here meet passionate and Toshiba laptop owner who share knowledge and trying to solve the problems, but no one of Tosh :(

I could give my experience with Satellite M30 and HDD upgrade possibilities.
To my knowledge the M30 Sat supports a 40 GB, 60 and 80 GB HARD drive for sure.
In my opinion, you can use the 100 GB HARD drive, but more large HARD s drive will not run and works correctly.
So go to a smaller size of HARD drive and enjoy the laptop!

I've goggled a bit and found compatible drive HARD and part numbers

  • Size of hard drive bay for Thinkpad Edge E430? and vs SATA 300 600

I'm looking to get a bigger hard drive for my Thinkpad Edge E430, and I have two questions.

The current drive is a Toshiba MK5061GSY - SATA 300. This is 0.4 inches high. I'm looking at a WD Green WD20NPVX - SATA 600. It is high 0.6inches.

    1. What size is the HARD drive Bay? Fits in a drive that is 0.6 inches in height?
    2. A disk SATA 600 is backward compatible with SATA-300 port?

    Thank you.

Ivy Bridge CPU in the E430 supports SATAIII (6 Gb/s) for the main hard drive and the optical drive Bay.

The height of the E430 hard drive Bay suitable for 7 and 9.5 mm (do not know what this amounts to in inches).

  • SSD boot drive upgrade for XPS 8500

I want to add a new SSD 128 GB as boot on my XPS 8500 drive when using my original 1 TB hard drive as a data reader.  Questions: Is there a set of instructions on how to better fulfill the new OS install and configure both hard drives?  Can I do a clean install of Win 7 using the Dell XPS 8500 Windows reinstall DVD on the new SSD? The XPS 8500 supports SATA III drives?  Thanks for any help on this.

An additional question: the processor can be upgraded (from i5 to i7) using the motherboard the original XPS 8500?

    Hi DoctorDED,

8 GB of memory is sufficient for a machine dedicated to the photo or video editing. However, if you run multiple applications with a lot of resources at the same time especially treatment image or video, CAD or 3D modeling (for example, Premiere Pro, Photoshop and After Effects), then you will surely be benefited by 16 GB of RAM. With more than 8 GB also comes in handy if you make heavy use of virtualization such as Microsoft Hyper-V or VMWare Workstaton tools, especially if you are running multiple operating systems simultaneously.

Answer please if you have any other questions.

  • HP EliteBook 8730w: replacement of SSD for the boot drive not recognized

I'm trying to install a Samsung SSD 840 EVO 500 GB instead of the original 500 GB HDD in my Elitebook 8730w (product no. VF889PA #ABG). The 8730w has the latest BIOS (F.20) installed and that is running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (fully patched).

When it is connected to the laptop through a USB adapter, to clone the HARD disk image. the SSDS works correctly. Cloning through data Migration Samsung is reported as a success, and the image of the C:\ drive occupies approximately 153 GB. The image of the disc does not include the partition of 1 GB dedicated to HP_TOOLS, due to a known limit of the Samsung software supplied.

When it is installed in the HARD drive Bay. the SSD is not recognized as a drive and does not appear in the list of startup options. The available boot options only shown are the DVD or a network boot.

would be very grateful for any advice on the steps required to successfully install the Samsung SSD as boot drive.

    Hmmm.
Honestly no, I'm not happy with this one. If it was my machine, I'd be a little concerned about whats the corner of the street. In view of the age, is not surprising really, things wear out over time, the mere fact of electronics.

Search through everything you have posted, all photos, pdf, all the text double checking. I am absolutely puzzled as to what happened. If you 100% does not reinstall the hard disk between the posts above where no HARD drive is detected in the menu boot options for the post below that where the HARD drive is detected in the same menu. I would say that you have a problem with either, the ssd, the computer motherboard laptop or the small connector on the sata port, I think on these is integrated on the motherboard, so it seems that your advice is doubtful.
If his works now, great... but be aware that your machine can fail at some point in the near future. And it looks like a defect of the motherboard, other things are probably waiting to fail.

There is no reason whatsoever your laptop must not have seen this ssd at first startup. A HARD drive is a HARD disk, if its compatible sata, then it will work, no doubt. When he is not on an older machine, its probably a sign of a faulty component.

Looking through your bios options, I recommend the following.

On startup options, get rid of internal nic pxe boot, that will only slow your machine at startup as it will seek for a network bootable device. This is the message that you get at startup saying Media Test Failure, this page is preventable with this option disabled.
Less built lan/wlan switching on enabled in the options of the terminal, also change. This means that if you use wifi at home for example and you decide to plug in a cable network directly to the router to speed up the connection, it will not pass if it is not defined, you will have to do it manually. I work in a large company and the number of people who have this option is unreal. They all assume when they are docked they will on the wired connection.

Because we are here too, if you ever have problems with a flickering screen, first thing to try, is disable the ambient light sensor which is just below this option of switching. Its fine on normally, but its quite common on 8560p for this causes a flickering screen.

Hope that helped. Good luck in what you decide to do with the machine

  • What is the maximum size of external drive for iMac (2009)

Y at - it a maximum size of external drive that can be used for the iMac (late 2009 model)?

I believe that the greatest single external drive currently available is 6 TB, but I heard 8 of TB are coming or may even arrived. OS X does not have a capacity limitation on the HD that it can address.

Try holding the ALT key during start up your Mac to the top. This will make all bootable discs appear on the screen, so tell me what options you see here. Maybe the Windows installation is damaged or you have removed OS X by mistake.

  • Maximum supported size of HARD drive for HP Elitebook 8440p Windows 7 Pro 64 bit runing

Hello, I just bought a HP Elitebook 8440p "off lease" of Tigerdirect and seeks to upgrade the two memory (from 4 GB to 8 GB) and put in the eligible of the biggest HARD drive I can. Either a 512 GB SSD or a 1 TB WD hybrid WD BLACK2 (1 TB HDD / 120 GB SSD Combo drive in a single package!). I would like to see more large disk addressable by using Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit OS since I don't seem able to find this info on the web. HP offers only only a 256 GB SSD in its specifications. but I didn't know if it was do limitations of BIOS or availability at the time of production, even for the HARD drive to 512 GB.

Also, I would like to know if 9.5 mm compliant Bay that it needs to be for the WD drive. Can't find that either, and while the new laptop has not yet happen, all measure exactly the same way regarding what works and what simply cannot be "cheated".

Thank you for taking the time to read this and NO information to that effect would be Greatl appreciated!

Essentially the reason why you do not have a maximum size of hard drive is because there is not everything. Between SATA and 64-bit OS', worrying about maximum size of hard drive is a thing of the past. Are the biggest readers found in the manual, as you suspected him, just a function of the market at the time of manufacture. It was a few years ago now, it is so understandable that the offerings were "at the time" more thin than now.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

Page 4-9 shows the procedure of the Bay and the replacement of the hard disk. The Bay is made for a 9.5 mm thickness 2.5-inch wide SATA hard but the new 7 mm readers also works. The black hybrid drive requires some software (included in the package) to treat the two drives in Windows and I read a modest amount of disappointment in the documentation about them. If you can afford the 512 GB SSD go in this direction and you will not be sorry. I use a Samsung 840 Evo and it has worked perfectly for me for almost 2 years and the most recent 850 I hear is even better.
