Slide archive scanning.  TIFF or jpg?

Scanning a bunch of slides to scan and archive and take us as long as TIFF at the moment.

That takes a LOT of space.  Should I be convert to jpg before importing?

If so, where, CS3?  I don't use any bridge.  What size, etc. ?

Joia

Everything is good. In Boston for the week for the Lacrosse Championships.

"Convert" maybe not the best term for LR it calls export. You can export to a separate folder, or gave them in the same folder as the originals, probably not what you want if you intend to save space, so maybe for organization of the needs, which could do well!

With the help of PS CS6 on iMac (24 inch, early 2008) 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, iMac, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS 512 MB: when you try to open a scanned tiff image, it opens sometimes directly in PS, sometimes open in Camera Raw. All works well when CR opens, but that happens only occasionally. When you open directly in PS, everything works fine for one or two images, then the following images opens not entirely - perhaps visible to 75%, the rest blank of canvas. Whenever I left the PS it can work a couple of times, and then to cut the image again. What the Hay? Is there a way to open Camera Raw directly?

HP offers models/media to scan slides 35 mm and photos of varying size on all-in-One Pro8500A device?  I have a PhotoSmart Photo Scanner S2o but it seems that HP doesn't have drivers for this unit for Win 7.

    Hello

I understand that you are referring to the scanning of negatives/Flim. If Yes this printer doesn't support scanning of slides. So it does not come with any holder /template for this type fo scaning

Please come back for more details.

  • Limited resolution export to TIFF or JPG format

    Hello

I can't export image 4500x2500mm with 300 or even 150 dpi. You will have to do with only 96 dpi.

    I use Acrobat X Pro.

What is the limit and why are there limits?

This combination is way too large to manage, especially a 32-bit application such as Acrobat. 4500mm at 300 DPI is 53150 pixels wide (which gives a picture of megapixel 1496).

  • ColorSync does not export png or jpg tiff after update to iOS 10.11.3

    Using ColorSync:

Completed the update to iOS 10.11.3 yesterday, but acknowledged that, after the update, I have one more no *.tiff export *.jpg or *.png files.

Many options for export has disappeared, that shouldn't be a problem, because the format png and jpg still appear in the list of options. But once I chose one of them I get an error if the name of the original file and the name of the export file are the same.

    Example:

Open hearst.tiff in ColorSync and choose Save as.

In the menu next, I clicked on "hearst" to use the name, but now I said "could not export the document.

Looks like it was already possible to choose a file name by clicking on a file without actually replacing the existing, if the file type has been changed.

What do you mean "using ColorSync"? Do you mean "color synchronization utility?

Why would you use to convert an image file to another format? Preview is the default application for this.

Utility color synchronization is not an image editor; It is intended to manage color profiles to ensure accurate reproduction of colors on different screens.

  • My all-in-one HP Photosmart C7283 will scan only tif and jpg bmp. I need pdf. I'm on windows7

    Hello

I have the HP Photosmart C7283 all-in-one printer scanner copier fax. It worked fine on my old Vista laptop and now I installed it on my Windows7 desktop. The only thing that does not work properly is the scanner. It only lets you scan files bmp, jpg & tif, but not one I mainly use namely pdf. If someone could help. Thank you very much.

    Hello

The PDF function should be available using the software of HP full feature.

If you just plug in the printer and used the printer in OS driver is ecpected behaviour.

For this scenario, you should unplug the printer, remove any installed device, then install the full feature software:

    1. Disconnect any USB cable connected to your printer.
    2. Enter the control panel > devices and printers.
    3. Right-click the printer icon, then select remove device.
    4. Restart your PC.
    5. Download and install the full feature software below:
      http://ftp.HP.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL30662/MP-76036-1/PS_AIO_02_Net_Full_Win_WW_130_140.exe

However, if you have installed the full features software and you use HP Solution Center to perform a scan, PDF file type should appear.

If it does not appear, you have selected more likely not to install the OCR software that required for scanning to PDF:

    1. Start the Installation of the complete software functionality.
    2. Click Add additional software
    3. Select the Iris of the reading or the OCR Application and complete the installation.
    4. Restart your PC and PDF should appear in the dialog box, scan a Document.

Please let me know of any changes,

  • How to export the same MB size of my cr2 files in jpg or tiff files in Lr?

How to export the same MB size of my cr2 files in jpg or tiff files in Lr?

Let's say that my height is 22 MB, when I export the file in TIFF or jpg, although careful Iam with size of file settings, size, resolution, I can't manioukate how I want it.

With jpg I tried everything, no matter what I do or a change in file size or meanless remains the same size - 7 mb instead of 22...

    Please advise,

    Best wishes

    T

You should not even try to do it.

JPG uses compression technology, so the files will have to be smaller than the original size of your RAWs. In addition, JPGs are 8-bit, while your RAWs are probably 14 bits, so the size needed to store your image will be smaller.

Thus, there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting a 7 mb JPG of a 22 MB RAW.

  • Flow of work-psd-> tiff-> jpg

Here are the rules I must follow:

    * Convert your image into 8-bit Tiff file (save as Tiff)

    * In a program like Photoshop, upsize the image of a minimum of 48 MB of image editing. (If you do your longer 5200 pixels and keep proportionally shorter size, this should give you a little more than 50 MB file size)

    * Make changes, check the image carefully at 100%

    * At the very last stage save your picture in Jpeg format and send us this Jpeg. Don't forget, the Jpeg format is the compressed size, then it will be usually between 3MB - 15M

Here's what I'm doing, starting with .raw 16-bit .psd:

    Flatten the psd final finsihed

Change the size of the image to approximately 2 x original 96-104 MB (5200 = 51.6 MB) using smoothed bi-cubique

Change the 8-bit color mode (reduces the file in 1/2)

    Save as tiff

Under tiff to jpg high quality

    My question:

Is this the best flow to use or should I be editing of tiff, or ranging from 8-bit to a different point in time? Can I use anything other than smooth bi-cubique? Or...?

    Thanks for the help.

There is no interest in doing, none of that. It is a fool to flow in the present age. What you need to do is simply to find the raw file (or edited psd/16-bit tiff if that's your original (no necessary BTW Flattening) in Lightroom, hitting export, select jpeg, define the quality of something over 90% (there is no imperceptible loss of quality over 90%), activate the resize tab and set it to one long edge of 5200 pixels) ask the appropriate output sharpening (it's probably for a printing service?) and select sRGB and you're done. This will give the better quality than the workflow in this description and is much faster.

  • How can I scan with OCR with my hp Photosmart 6510? I want to scan to a text of the parameter file.

I got a new Photosmart 6510 all-in-one printer. I have the ability to scan to a .jpg file ot a .tiff or a .pdf file - just like the pictures, no form of text that can be edited. On my old photosmart printer (a 2572) I was able to analyze OCR allows you to place the scanned document in a file with the Edition of the text, how can I do that with this new printer? I thought I was adding features, do not remove them. I use the 6510 wireless on a home network. I am also on the Windows Vista system.

    Thank you

    Hi nawa4,

Software OCR Iris didn't come included with this printer. If you have OCR software installed on your computer, you should be able to scan using this program. If you do not have an OCR program installed you can check the link below.

  • Archiving of raw on DVD images

    Hello

I'm new to Lightroom, unable to find answers to my question, I may not have very similar to the concept of Lightroom.

I've been using Nikon CaptureNX make treatment of the raw files, photoshop to detail touch up for each assignment, I create a folder containing NEF, tiff and jpg in their respective folders, I burn DVDs to archive them and remove my HD after the transfer is complete.

Want to know how to archive each assignment is the way that I used to do? Should I export a catalog of the NAVE to the folder and burn the file to DVD? or using the export to the CD/DVD function to the file than the original format? or save a set of files with the NEF files XMP and burn the entire folder.

    Please enlighten me.

    Thank you.

Lightroom is a complete 'photo management system', as I like to call it. You can import your. NAVE of the files in the catalog in Lightroom and do the editing and proofreading.

For advanced retouching you would still use Photoshop because it is designed as a professional editing app, but you can easily open images from Lightroom in Photoshop and then back in Lightroom when you close the file in Photoshop.

I burn DVDs to archive them

There are also several export options in Lightroom, you can easily export your raw hard disk files (I don't recommend cd/dvd discs, optical media are not reliable). Additionally, when you import your raw images in Lightroom, you can back up the original files at the same time (one of the many fantastic features in Lightroom).

    I hope this helps.

  • TIFF in RAW Conversion

I work with images Lightroom 2.5 and DNG (RAW) of my Pentax K20D camera.  I am not satisfied with the noise reduction in LR (especially for the many slides, I scanned with a Nikon dedicated film scanner).  Therefore, I would use a better program (perhaps Noise Ninja) to perform noise reduction, before I use Lightroom for further developments and exports.  I think that the noise reduction programs work with files only non - RAW.  I would lose if I converted my DNG to 16-bit uncompressed TIFF important visual information to reduce noise in another program, save as "low noise" 16-bit TIFF uncompressed and then convert those TIFFs DNG before importing them into LR?  What other alternatives can you suggest if I can't make any noise reduction RAW files in other programs?

    Thanks in advance, Paul.

First off LR is a non-destructive program, so you can make your changes to the raw file, then send to 16-bit TIFF for the external program to make noise reduction.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600. Have multiple pages need to scan!

I need to know how to scan several pages from the ADF, but have on every page save in an individual file.

    That is to say

    Page 1 = scan001

    Page2 = scan002

    page 3 = scan003

    Thank you

    Hi RCIII,

If you are scanning as. JPG, then they will be saved in individual files. If you analyze then as. PDF, then they will all be in a single file. If you need them. JPG I you suggest to use the bed to scan and then click on the Add/Remove button in the HP scan software of application. If you do not see the Add/Remove buttons, you reduce the IPR analysis.
