Slow boot after power interruption

HP Pavilion P6 2130ef desktop

Windows 7 64 bit

No error message

No significant changes made.

My PC was working at the time of the power failure. Once the operating system reconstituted itself, the start time changed to ~ 45 seconds for > 3 minutes.

I did a checkdsk and an analysis of the system, but found nothing untoward.

The OS came preinstalled with this machine, so I don't have an OS disk to reload.

I've only had the system for about 2 weeks and unfortunately I did not save my system after the first switch on. I have an external hard drive on order... I thought I'd be OK without a back-up for a couple of weeks (!).

I was just thinking that I need to reload the operating system software to restore startup performance to 'like '? Or is there another way of jamming non BIOS?

Thank you very much

PIP

I was ready to do a system restore through the tool of H - P when I noticed a button called Microsoft Startup Repair Tool. With nothing to lose, I clicked on it and with the result that my PC is now start with all his speed restored.
Thanks for your help.

  • Long boot after power outage

I have several computers (Dell Optiplex 790, XP Pro, domain environment) which seem to be affected by a very long startup having experienced a kind of power event.  Starting log show that it seems to be a long gap (between 5 minutes and 45 minutes) between loading the autochk and csrss.exe.

During this period of latency - after the XP splash screen and the user login screen - the screen is black with only an occasional HDD activity) as a heartbeat) and no indication that it running a scandisk or anything like that.

Running chkdsk does not seem to solve the problem, and reimage the computer sets the startup time, so I don't think it is hardware related. I know that autochk has a function of delay, but I think not autochk is actually blocked because the duration is less than 1 second, but the following process (csrss) does not start until 10-20 minutes later

  • ESX boot after power failure problems

    All, morning

I think that this may be a simple problem to solve, but for the moment I do not know how. We had power cut which lasted longer as backup ups, where the two ESX servers has dropped recently. One came back without problem however it is not. When its turned on it gets to the boot menu, and when the normal startup mode is selected it panic the kernel with a disk error (device missing or similar - can confirm if need be).

However, if I reboot it and select the debug mode in the start menu it starts very well, starts as usual and will run from VM. This leads me to believe that disks, files, and the BONES are fine and the problem in the config, could be damaged as a result of the unclean shutdown? I did some looking around and read a post on the repair of the boot sequence using the command: esxcfg-boot - r - could not however quantify if this was relevant in my situation or not.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Check UUID in /boot/grub/grub.conf:

    (1) boot VMware ESX Server UUID (root=UUID=c087c715-534d-471e-a023-!@#$%*) is similar with your server VMware ESX (debug mode).

    (2) VMware ESX Server (root=UUID=c087c715-534d-471e-a023-!@#$%*) returns with "/" inside the / etc/fstab

p/s: while you find how u hav thought about to reinstall your esx that can be done in a few minutes.

  • "Windows 7 Build 7601 this copy of Windows is not genuine" and the slow boot after malware removal

HP Pavilion dm4 my daughter recently started to take about 10-15 minutes to start, tell me that he had become infected by something questionable. It is currently running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, with AVG free anti-virus.

When we noticed the problem first, AVG has been disabled (probably by malware), and I could not turn it back on. He would not run a scan at all. I have scanned it with Norton Power Eraser and their free bootable scanner, nor identified any problems. I ran Malwarebytes in safe mode, and it found several files associated with Yontoo, which he deleted. I ran ccleaner, including the registry cleaner. At this time, AVG was returned to service, so I ran a full scan with it. AVG found several files associated with OpenCandy, which he deleted. A scan later Malwarebytes came clean.

For now, the system seems to work fine, EXCEPT: there are still a huge amount of time to start - several minutes between each step. And now, the desktop appear intermittently a message which reads: "Windows 7 Build 7601 this copy of Windows is not genuine".

I found a lot of discussion online about this error message, but it seems that each of them (which I reviewed) has a different twist to what I feel.

Any suggestions for next steps? Thanks in advance.

To recover the files please see paragraph 7.4 in the link here:
    http://www.gerryscomputertips.co.UK/win7tips1.htm

Alternatively, you can run chkdsk from the other computer hard disk.

When you have recovered your data files you can restore settings.

Another option could be to download a copy of windows, to burn a copy on DVD and try a repair installation. The sticker COSTS on the computer applies to OEM Windows Home Premium? -What is the 25-character readable product key?

Once I have selected the bootable media, the screen goes black with a white blinking cursor for about 5 to 10 minutes, then loads windows normally and everything works perfectly.

    Hello

Only a newer version of BIOS is available on the European driver Toshiba page
So, if you need an earlier version; contact a local ASP.

However, I recommend to access the BIOS and to set the default settings.
Perhaps it is necessary to get the Mobile QuickStart

A few weeks ago, I spent a M90e/3244 system with Win7-64-XP - 32 success. Now, I needed to do the same thing to another system M90e/3244. Control Panel, system, advanced system, the boot parameters. But this isn't for the system failure power failure. Sorry - I read your post too fast.

I don't think that today's computers can auto start after power cuts and even if it is possible, it is not recommended. Buy a battery backup UPS as APC must prevent interruptions of power failure and give yourself the time to shutdown properly.

The laptop goes to home Toshiba screen?
If yes there is no hardware malfunction but perhaps something wrong with the software.

You suggested that it of not possible to enter the BIOS. How have you tried to get into the BIOS?
As far as I know, this unit uses a Phoenix BIOS so you must press the F2 key immediately after switching on. Press the "F2" key several times to make sure that the option has been enabled.

The alternative to boot from the CD/DVD drive is using the C key. The same procedure here: press the C key immediately after starting the laptop.
(the CD must be inserted before you start)

After power failure, I got the above message.  I tried to rebuild the CD system following the instructions Microsoft but still can't het PC to start.  Any ideas anyone?

    Thank you

Since you didn't say what were these instructions, we do not know what you were doing!

You need to start the recovery console, run chkdsk r, then /Rebuild. bootcfg The first part can be read here:

    http://www.icompute.info/System_restore_from_xp_cd.htm

You will need to understand how your PC (you neglected to tell us the make, model and model number!) can boot from the CD-ROM. Then, run the Recovery Console. DO NOT ENTER THE INSTALLER! (If you do, you run the risk to wipe your entire disk clean!) Follow the indications of the above page and then stops after having successfully performed chkdsk/r. In other words, don't do the fixmbr part!

Then, for the second part, read here:

    http://www.icompute.info/halldll_error.htm

Restart the PC in the usual way (that is, start with the hard drive) and let us know if you are at the back of buisiness.

  • WAG300N: could not start correctly after power failure

    Hello

After AC power interruption, I tried to turn on my router Linksys WAG300N, but he won't start properly. I will describe what it looks like and what I've tried:

I push the power button / stop, all 4 Ethernet LED simultaneous light for about a second, (if there is LAN cable connected, one or more led lights permanently) and power the LED will blink twice at normal speed. After that, both voltage and wireless, led simultaneously for about 1-2 seconds, start power LED flashes quickly, after seconds wireless LED stop light, wireless flash LED again and stop two LEDs for lighting. Second later power LED flashes two times normal speed and the process begins again but without flashing of the LED Ethernet (loop).

I tried to download the firmware using TFTP, but it does not work. Router did not respond to a ping. After many tests, I noticed that the only time where I can ping router is during normal those two blinks of the power led. I've got 11 times waiting and the response of 1 or 2<1ms, 11="" timeouts,="" 1="" -="" 2="" responses etc... (response="" waiting="" time="" for="" a="" ping="">

I've tried a few ways to reset the router (based on this forum). It does not help, sometimes after the reset I power the router problems or flashing process stops after a few loops (only one Ethernet LED lightning or router turns off). At the end of a day all supports them to the previous behavior of closure with power LED and wireless LED blinking.

In the end, I tried utility upgrade Sercomm 2.07 mentioned in this topic: http://forums.linksys.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=DSL&thread.id=52

This software detects only router after reset, when the router is in unknown mode, Internet and power LED flashes alternately.

Software detects the device as MAC address and visualize correctly the version of firmware loaded into memory. Looks like it works and flashing memory. While flashing memory, power LED, LED Internet and Ethernet LED flashing at the same time very fast. I tried all versions of firmware available, but it does not help, I still have the same behave after flash.

I think it could be a problem with the bootloader, maybe that part of the memory is broken, but I did not how to fix it. I found information on the JTAG interface, but I don't know if it will work for router WAG300N and where I can find the appropriate file with bootloader.

Maybe someone can help and give me the idea what should I / check. Theoretically, I should have left 1 year warranty, but I lost the proof of purchase required for the RMA process. I can't find the place in Poland where professionals can help me, so I think that should do it myself with your help

I think that's the problem with the power adapter... You should try a different power of the specification of the same card...
