Slow file copy

When I used Windows 7 then copying on USB speed is about 25-30 MB/s. Now, I've upgraded to Windows 8 (new installation). Copying speed is 3-4 MB/s. Also, when I press Ctrl + SHIFT + ESC and then after the UAC warning almost 10 seconds and when I press 'Yes' Manager stains openly quickly. Everything else is fine, apparently. Tried the clean boot, without success. Run 'Automatic Maintenance' on a regular basis. Do not use the type of maintenance software. Don't want to refresh or reset. Another option?

Hi Prashant,

Have you updated the firmware/drivers for the USB key?  It would be the first thing to try.

Although different OS (and slightly different suggestions - such as using USB 3 vs USB 2 ports if you have any vs vs USB 2 USB 1.1 - Although this would be equally true but less likely the case), the rest of what follows can be useful if the installation uses default values that maybe are not what you want.

Another possibility, I saw concerned affecting the performance of USB drives in Device Manager properties - told to change for optimized performance political (or whatever option might be for yours - if there is an option) did the trick and another said he did nothing.  Familiar to the things we see in V & M?  Laughing out loud!

I hope this helps!  Sorry, no idea about the task Mgr delay.

Good luck!

  • Very slow file copy speeds

    Hello

Recently, I myself have built a new PC and am currently under Windows 8 Pro about this. I had a problem with copying files between spaces of storage/drives on the PC. Whenever I start a file copy/move operation, the speed starts usually at a respectable speed (ie. 40 - 50 MB/s) and then quickly descends and hovers somewhere between 50 Kbps - 800 KB/s, sometimes up to 0 KB/s for a few minutes. Try to copy a large file (ie. 10 GB) takes a few hours/days where on all my other machines it would normally take a few minutes. I tried to use Teracopy to see if it could work around the problem, but it seems to have the same problem. If I transfer a file from my laptop to the computer over the network (leave the laptop to control transfers) he will sit at a constant 5-8 MB/s well. Even less than ideal but much faster than what he does internally. I have also updated the bios on my M/B to the latest version just to rule out it as a problem does not.
I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on this problem and help me figure out what causes the congestion. If it helps the machine is an i5 3570 k, Asrock Extreme 4 M/B, 16 GB of DDR3 ram and a Gigabyte 7950 GPU. I have also several HARD drives more a 830 SSD from Samsung for the system drive.
If anyone can help me with this problem I would be very happy!
    Thank you!
    Chris

Sorry guys for not not getting back to this sentence. I managed to solve my problem.

I thought I would test all HARD drives in the storage space and running a benchmark on them to see if they are any ball game. It turns out that one of them was not. Its read/write speeds were about 1% of what all other players received.
So I think problem solved... FAKE! My storage pool was divided into several spaces more that contains media files on single spaces more personal files and photos etc on two way mirrors spaces. It turns out that you can't remove just a drive from the pool as you can in WHSv1 if there is single spaces in the pool. I ended up having to save all my data on another PC (fortunately I do anyway!), remove all the spaces of the pool and then he'd let me remove the drive from the pool. After that, I could finally rebuild all the spaces and then copy all the data back on.
If MS wants this technology to be taken seriously, they NEED to implement a way to replace failed or upgrade to larger without records to delete all the data, or it is next to useless.
I hope this could help someone...

  • very slow file read/copy of WinXP to Win7

I have two PCs, it is WInXP, one is Win7.  On Win7, I produce read/copy of WinXP to Win7, it is very slow, about 10% of the 100 Mbps network (as indicated by the Task Manager and the status of file copy).  However, if I do the copy of file for WinXP to Win7, it is very fast, about 90% of the 100 Mbps.

It is using windows file sharing.

    Why is this?

Please note that all operations are done on the Win7 PC, I have not tried to do it on PC WinXP again.  There are a few problems with Windows XP, access to the share on the Win7 PC (which can access any other PC Win7).  But it is not so important.

I do regular files between WinXP PC at work, they are typically 50% of 100 Mbps.

    Thank you.

I have a problem with the copy operations in windows 8.1 slow file.

When I try to copy large files (cca. 50 GB) transfer rate is less than 10 MB/s instead of more than 60 MB/s.

    Do you have any advice?

  • FTP .txt file copied correctly the cRio

I use the 'FTP Get File.vi"to retrieve a .txt file of my CRio, which is then copied on my host.  The file is a delimited data tab.  The file copied all the data a except that the copy has a blank line between each set of data.  These additional lines take me to read the incorrect lines when the file is read in my program later with the "reading a spreadsheet file.  These additional lines come  I checked the original on the cRio file transfer via MAX and these lines do not exist.  Can someone tell me how to solve this problem?  Thank you

If you look at the entries for the File.vi FTP Get, you will notice that there is one that says binary:

By default, this is false, which means that it copies the data in an ASCII format.  Try a real constant of wiring to this entry.  It's the need for VxWorks and Windows use different end of windowing.  This difference is probably the reason that it is adding lines to it.

  • Can not read the word file copied as a shortcut on a disc

Format microsoft word copied as a shocut on a disk is not able to be read. An error message appears that the network connection or the driver that the shortcut refers to is unavailable.

Please excuse my rudeness and gaiety that, but everything that you copied is the shortcut, not the file. If you attach the drive to your PC, it will find the file because the shortcut will direct you to the source file, but if you try to play the file on another PC the source isn't there.

If you do not know where the file is stored pass on the original PC, right click the shortcut and go to properties and it displays the path of the target, because it is a Word file, the entire file is probably in the Documents. In the same box, you should be able to target location or find to open the file. When you locate the file copy on the external drive.

  • Files copied to external devices (USB/PHONE/CD-ROM) damaged when displayed

Computer desktop running W7 SP1 with 64-bit system.  Files copied from the desktop to external devices are damaged when displayed.  Files can be JPEGs (photos) and or (e, g. XLS) data files.   Similar files copied from a laptop under W7 Service Pack One with a 32-bit system correctly screen.  Errors occur on the USB ports and CD-ROM drives used to copy the data.  This is potentially a problem of HD or something related to the operating system?

    Hi David,

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

As you mentioned that the files that you copy from desktop to external devices are damaged when displayed.

This issue would have occurred due to a virus on your computer.

I need some information to move forward.

    1. That you get an message\code error when you try to access these files?

Maybe your computer got infected with a virus.

So I suggest you view the Microsoft Help article and try the steps to find out if your system has a virus.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/does-computer-have-virus#1TC=Windows-7

If you find that your computer has a virus please refer to the link below and follow the steps on how to remove computer virus.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/how-remove-computer-virus#how-remove-computer-virus=Windows-7

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

I hope this helps. Please let us know the status of the updates of your question. We will be happy to help you further.

  • File copy operation

I was wondering how do you file copy operation?

I have a file in my assets, it s a folder image file, and I want to just copy it into the shared folder, but I can´t to achieve this.

    QFile::copy ("assets:///images/image.jpg", "file:///accounts/1000/shared/camera/image.jpg");

    Should I first?

    Kind of stuck here

    Thank you!

The prefix of the correct URL is active: / / /, not assets:.

But QFile is not a class of Cascades and perhaps do not understand this prefix at all.

    Try:
    QString from = QDir::currentPath() + "/ app/native/assets/images/image.jpg";
    QString = QDir::homePath() + '... / shared/camera/image.jpg ';
    QFile::copy (from, to);

Also access_shared permission must be paid bar - descriptor.xml

    UPD:

Try logging & values and verify that files with these names actually exist on the device. If the roads are bad, adjust them accordingly. Device Filesystem Navigator in Momentics can be used for this.

  • Copy of slow files under Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit

System is very slow when the copy of the files. The dialog box "Donostiarra" is for a very long time. Everytime I open a folder there is a green bar which crosses the address as it is scanning, that takes a lot of time as well. Looks like that has happened to Vista and I was able to disable something that allowed a quick copy of files. Anyone know a fix for this problem in Windows 7.

  • Slow NAS using Explorer file copy

I have a network home gigabit. Based on a linux NAS (qnap), 3 win xp & 2 win 7 ultimate.

NAS is the centralized storage for all media/files of all these computers.

Copy/access to the file of XP machines is perfect. But Win 7 is dead slow. Connected to the switch with Cat 5e cable, I get 100 Kbps (not firewall & no other activity on the network). Overall, when I get desperate and let him finish at the speed of the miser, it ends at all.

All the drivers are up to date.

A couple of PC are old, but the two that I bought in the hope of getting rid of this slow access are all new i5/i7.

I read a lot of posts on the net on various fixes. I also tried a few, but no result.

Please don't not/response theory on storage cards post / / speed/network access hard disk etc.

I read everything and I'm tired.

Yet once, in my setup NAS box isn't a problem. Works perfectly fine with XP.

Network card is not a problem. It's because using an ftp client to copy files from the NAS, I get a good 50-60MBPS (YES on the same PC WIN7, for the same files. It is not for a single file. I have FTP'd about 1000 100 GB in size (big and tiny files included)). But this speed only lasts until I open Windows Explorer. As soon as I did this, the speed drops to a crawl. So if I want to get all files in the NAS, I have to restart Win7 and ftp before you open the Solution Explorer.

Read all the messages on this SAME forum, there are hundreds of cases where this has been reported. And I haven't read a SINGLE instance where Microsoft agreed, that's a problem with Win 7.

Personally, I keep not if Microsoft accepts or not, BUT after making a lot of money off the coast of their customers, I would expect Microsoft to CHALLENGE this as soon as POSSIBLE an automatic update.

After writing this monologue, I'd wait for the moderator/decision-making people in charge to answer WHEN WILL THIS GET FIXED.

After spending $ 2000 on the hardware to find out that there is a problem with WIN7, I was more sober and more civilized write this upward.

For the rest of the team, I hope that my FTP autour work is useful to someone in desperation (like me).

    Hello

    I also have a NAS.

Only that my SIN is Windows Home server, and it works very quickly.

    Speed (see here), http://www.ezlan.net/vista/Giga-Optimized.jpg

    It is 70 MB/sec (B = bytes).

You call that a problem with Windows, I call it a problem with Linux (the old story of chickens and eggs).

  • Qosmio X 500-148 - large file copy stucks

Copying large files (about 5-10 GB) between USB or Firewire drive stucks the PC. It goes up to 50% then slows down and there is no possibility to do anything, including cancel them the task or open the browser or a Manager task or WIn Explorer.
The event viewer does not show something strange.

This only happens with Windows 7 64 bit, no problem with Windows 7 32 bit (same external hardware). No problem when copying between disc internal PC.

    Hi eferradino,

Have you also tried the same thing with the version preinstalled Windows from Toshiba?

I always use the version preinstalled Windows of Toshiba and never had any problems with it. I have some software that I need not remove it as a trial version of the office, etc.

So to use the Toshiba recovery disc and test it again.

If the problem occurs only with a Windows installation only, it s seems to be related to the driver or the software.

  • Problem of file copy in Windows 7 on USB

I installed windows 7 64-bit professional original... copying files to usb cling on 5 seconds left... for a while but then suddenly copy is complete... How to fix it please help me?

File transfer speed is governed by various factors include speed supported by the USB device, the speed of the internal hard drive (HDD), USB port workshop, the size of the file, the number of programs accessing HARD drive internal and USB device (the more, slower port speed), the number of programs to the copied file free space available in the USB and the amount of free system resources available (such as the RAM and processor). If none of these factors are affected, the problem occurs. Therefore, it is recommended to use safely remove hardware feature, to ensure that no program can access the USB key. In addition, if the USB device is indicator of activity, until it ceases all activity, it is in use. Analyze the cause of the issue is not recommended because the reason will be different each time the analysis is made. Provided that the files are copied perfectly, the USB device and the computer works fine.

  • Corruption in large file copy to USB - Windows 7 Pro 64-bit SP1

I have seen other people have reported this problem, but I have not found an answer.

When I copy large files (1 GB +) from one hard disk to another (connected to the same computer), and the destination hard disk is on a port USB3 (also maybe USB2), sometimes the file is damaged somewhere towards the end.  Usually, the copy is fine for 60 to 80% of the length but the rest seems so be given totally random.
If I copy the file even over and over again between the same two discs, usually, I keep getting corrupted copies (but not in the same place).
If I copied the files to a different destination drive, usually the problem goes away.
I tried to use the command COPY to command prompt, same problem.
I tried putting the drive source on a USB2 port, so the copy goes much slower, still get corruption.
I ran a test of the RAM for 6 hours with no problems found.
I tried to run a "Linux" operating system on the same computer with drives connected to the same ports, and copies were all good!  But much more slow (about 30 MB/sec instead of 100 MB/s).
Because Windows checks the accuracy of copy of file, it would be a big problem, even if it is not reproducible - but since it is "all the time" and "over and over" with the same files, it's all just crazy!
I have another question strange memory.  I have two 4 GB DRAM sticks in my computer, but the properties shows my memory as:
"GB 8.00 installed (3.98 GB usable)" and right it says "64-bit operating system" - so why can't we use half of my memory?
    Processor: AMD FX-6100 3.3 GHz not overclocked-card mother ASRock 990FX Extreme 4
Note that I have no problem with other programs of writing large files on the same hard drive, for example the output of a video editing software has no problem.
    Suggestions?
    Thank you
    -Gary

I THINK I FOUND THE PROBLEM!

This is the X - Fast USB program supplied with the motherboard ASROCK.
If you have X-Fast USB running (and you know), UNINSTALL IT, reboot and this problem may disappear.  So if please contact ASRock and let them know that their program is ruining your life.
