Slow USB on Satellite A50 after format

Hello

I hope someone here can help me...
After that a few years of the 'waste' on my Satellite A50 collection, today I wanted to format the hard drive and start with a clean installation of Windows XP.
Before that, I had both a wireless network and an external hard drive connected via USB, and the two works great.
Now, after that cleaning installed, Windows always tells me that I have material fast USB connected to a slower USB port and under 'Hardware', there is a USB controller that is not properly installed. However I can't find the drivers for this anywhere!
I know that it must be possible to update the USB 2.0, because until yesterday everything worked very well.

Can someone help me please?
It would be very appreciated thanks in advance!

Did you install all MS updates?
My brother had the same problem. He connected a scanner to the computer, and the message appeared because of USB 2.0.
He asked me a help. I've updated just the WinXP installed all service packs and QFE s.
It's the key
Check it out.

By the way; Please do not forget that the chipset utility has been installed

  • How to configure the BIOS to boot USB on Satellite A50-110?

    Hello.
I own a Toshiba Satellite A50-110 and I have a USB bootable Flash drive, but I don't know how to boot from the USB key.
I guess I need to access and configure the BIOS. How can I do? Where can I get information on this subject? What are the steps to perform this task?

    TIA

    Hello

As far as I know in the BIOS cannot be configured anything. As much as I now on this old notebook you can use just USB floppy for boot drive (U key at startup), but not the USB flash drive.

Enter BIOS settings with the ESC key at first upward and check that all listed bootable devices.

  • Satellite P200: after formatting, no more wireless

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite P200 PSPB0E with Windows Vista 32 bit PC.

I simply formatted and I was amazed that I don't have the wireless, so I guess that's the driver because my button "wireless" is enabled.

My network card is a "Realtek rtl 2101 family PCI-E Fast Ethernet (NDIS 6.0).

Updates does not work and the driver on toshiba website 'Wireless lan driver' is not working too. Nothing changes.

I hope someone can help me.

    Thank you

    Hello

What do mean you by what I just formatted?

Have you used the Vista DVD for Toshiba recovery to reinstall the Vista operating system yet?
Or did you use the original DVD of Microsoft Vista?

Usually if you have used the Toshiba Recovery DVD, everything should work fine and all devices are recognized in the Device Manager as the image of Toshiba already contains all the necessary drivers.

So please check your device if Manager the wireless network card is correctly recognized.
You can find it in the network adapters.

By the way; are you sure that you have a Realtek Wlan card to 100%?
As I know the card chip LAN is Realtek but the WiFi card could be Intel.

  • Satellite A50 - after Exchange of disc HARD, I have the same ability

Hello, I just changed the old 40 GB HDD in A50 a new 60 GB HARD drive.

Until I changed it, I used True Image to do a backup of the old HARD drive file so that I can get everything to the new HARD drive. However, when I did the HARD drive has everything on the old HDD but the capacityis changed to 40 GB... ! I then use the restore on the new HARD drive CD and hoping the capacity can be changed to 60 GB, but it can not...
However, when I went to disk management I see there is an another parition (black color) with the remaining space, but it does not appear in my computer...

Is anyone know how can we recover the remaining space?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

Normally if you clone a HARD drive, you can also change the size of the partition. I also use Acronis True Image and if I clone a HARD drive I will be asked for each size of the partition.
    Check again!

However, now you must delete all existing partitions and then create a new one with the capacity of 60 GB. For this, you can use a Microsoft XP disk for example.
After that, you can start to install windows using Toshiba recovery disc. Then, you should have the full capacity of 60 GB.

  • Satellite A50 - starting possible USB DVD writer external?

I have a Satellite A50-11 four years old, I need to format a partition of the hard drive (the one with XP) installed but my DVD burner is broken.
My BIOS supports booting by an external DVD burner? Where it shouldn't, should I have any other possibility?

    Thank you

I doubt that this could be possible

As far as I know the BIOS supports booting from HARD, ODD, LAN and USB FDD (floppy) disk

    Hello
    I have laptop Satellite A50 543 with Win2k SP4 installed.
The problem is that USB 2.0 is not active.

I found a usb device that luckily automatically installed, so I installed it manually.

The system is now a usb 2.0 hub - root.
If I go to properties it shows me that the usb-external hard drive is connected. So far so good...
(the external hard drive is USB 2.0!)

now, I copy a file from the internal hard drive to the hard drive external... and there: surprise!
    I have a transfer rate of about 2.5 MB/s
now I really Don t know what I can do!

thx for your help and sorry for my bad English! ;-)
    hope you understand me!

    TOBO

    Hello

Well, as far as I know this device was shipped with a USB 2.0 and it should support a rate of 480 Mbit/s and USB 1.1 data transmission support max 12 Mbps transfer rate.
Did you mean the transfer rate of 2.5MB/s or 2.5Mbps?

    Hello

I'm not sure but I think that the Toshiba DVD r /-RW / RAM (number P000399450) drive must be compatible with the Satellite A50.
It is also called DVD Super Multi drive, UJ-820BTJ6-A (G8CC0001S210)

I found it on this page:
    http://www.impactcomputers.com/p000399450.html

But generally the best way to control the compatible parts and devices is to contact Toshiba service partner in your country.
Here, you will get all Hamade on the right parts.

  • USB does not work after you install the utility on Satellite A200 Intel chipsets

    Hello.
I installed Win XP Pro SP2 on my Satellite A200-1SM and everything was ok until I installed Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility version 8.2.0.1014 (recent ones on the site of download of Toshiba; before this step all USB dev. worked properly), after all my USB devices wouldn't work. I had my windows up-to-date with updates from Microsoft, but that has not changed a thing.

I use Vista once again, but still want to work one day at the XP operating system.

Please help me if you can.

Like the previous user said, the chipset must be installed as first pilot
In addition, it seems that this laptop supports the Intel® GM965 + ICH8M Intel chip.
It would be advisable to check the version of the Intel page directly

  • Satellite A50-109: after RAM upgrade-> blue screen

    Hi all

I bought a new patriot 1 GB ram sodimm pc 2700 as an upgrade to my satellite a50-109. After installation of the equipment on the back of the laptop, I had some problems with windows xp bsod (blue screen of death). Errors 0x000000e8. After recording with microsoft, I had to reinstall the drivers... Can someone help me please!

    Thank you
    Alex

It seems that you are using a module of memory without a name. These modules can malfunction. It s nothing unusual.
So I use and always buy modules memory Kingston or Infineon brand, for example.
I have goggled autour and actually ntfs.sys error might have something to do with the fault memory.
It s whatever the module has been properly recognized in the BIOS. Certain areas of memory may malfunction

In my opinion, you should check if the laptop will be functions correctly with the modules of memory recommended by Toshiba

  • Recovery CD don't reinstall it Satellite M300 correctly after formatting HARD drive

    Hi all

After having my original problem to create rescue disks resolved with your help (thanks again), I'm at the formatting of hard drives of 300. After that, I want to do a fresh install of Ubuntu.
But I must admit I'm rather nervous about all this.

    So 2 questions:

1 has anyone done this before and how it worked?
    2. I would be able to get the M300 back to the form using the reinstallation discs, AFTER formatting the HARD drive

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

Usually the Vista Toshiba Recovery DVD should reinstall everything again. Simply said, it must affect the M300 return to the factory settings.
The use of the recovery DVDs is very simple.

You must boot from the recovery DVD and must follow the instructions on the screen!
But note; The recovery DVDs will format the entire HARD drive... as the partitions created, etc...

    That s it.

  • Impossible to install its und WLAN drivers on my Satellite A50

    Hello all;

I bought a laptop Satellite A50-111... I formatted it but I can not install sound card and Wi - Fi connection. The drivers that are on the Toshiba internet download site can not find material and they do not work properly.

Is anyone know something about this model? How can I do? Please emergency because I need urgently for laptop.

    Hello

Can I ask what drivers did you tried to install?
    Drivers XP you speaking?

Look, man that the Toshiba driver page presents some useful documents. First of all, you should take a look in the instruction of installation of Toshiba. This txt file describes the way in which, the drivers must be installed! Please follow the guidelines

    Second, you have noticed the information Microsoft Windows XP SP2 update on the page;
According to this page some applications need to be updated after SP2 has been installed.

Finally, and especially all the Microsoft QFEs on the page are needed and should get the operating system to work!

    Follow the instructions!

  • Satellite A50-111 - HARD drive upgrade

    Hello!

I need to upgrade hard drive of my laptop because it is very slow. However, I know it's a 60 GB to factory-installed 4200 RPM.
I'm ready to be upgraded to a fast 7200 RPM, if possible, with a decent capacity, but I'm not sure of the supported hard drive type (IDE?, 2.5?) is a model of 5 years. In my view, there are incompatibilities with the laptops today, hard drive formats, so I really need help.
Thank you very much for your help!

These are the specs on the site
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/JSP/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&com.broadvis ion.session.new = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 97598

    Hey Buddy,

In my opinion the HARD drive upgrade will not increase performance well then you should try the other options first as reinstalling Windows, or upgrade the RAM.

Anyway, Satellite A50 use IDE interface, so you can use hard disks of 120 GB of disk space.
Of course, you can take a model at 7200 RPM, but they need more energy and produce more noise.
    I recommend a 120 GB 5400 RPM model. That s pretty fast!

  • Re: Satellite A50 - how can I change the boot with BIOS password priority?

I have a Satellite A50. I need to restore to factory default to recover DVD, how do I boot from the DVD?

The default boot priority is the HARD drive and is more bootable has been formatted. My BIOS is password protected, how can I change the boot priority? After having inserted the password, its always boot from the HARD drive.

    Thank you

The boot priority, that you can change in the BIOS.
Go into the BIOS with ESC, enter your password and then you can change it.
But don t forget to save the changes.

That s all and then you can boot from the CD.
