Slow WiFi

I have a slow WiFi connection. I use a newer MacBookPro and have no ethernet to make a direct connection. I had a router to the South, but just before he went to the South, I was getting 220Mbps down speeds and I just got a new modem D-Link and he got setup one moment I'm stuck on 23Mbps. My other MacBook which is oldest to 125Mbps downwards. My desktop Mac mini becomes the same as my remarks 23Mbps Pro. If I connect directly the mini I get a compatible 220Mbps speed. I've been with comcast today and they don't see any problems with a direct link and 220Mbps, and my other book on wifi getting an Im 123Mbps sure that the issue isn't with comcast. I don't know what settings are now the speed down. I know that this is not the new router either because I have an old router which is at the same speed but the router that went towards the South allowed me to get the 220Mbps via wifi when it was working fine. The D-Link is new and seems to be ok. My other was a router Netgar N900. The D-Link is the AC-3150, a pretty radical router. The interface is a bit different, but it has the same information as the other routers.

IM pretty good setting up networks, but this one has pulling me my hair out.

I can't connect directly, otherwise I'd do it but why with a laptop. I also connected directly with my mini and who then shared and still only got 23Mbps speeds. My service is minimum 150Mbps downwards.

Someone has an idea of what might be wrong. I reset and rebooted several times. My connection is DHCP but I did no changes using this or static. I checked the settings between the two laptops, and there is nothing else that I can see.

I need help.

Pete

Fixed a problem. I have the new D-Link AC3150 Ultra WiFi router. It is supposed to be an intelligent router that gives you the best radio for the fastest speeds available. Maybe it's not so smart after all. I disabled the smart function and configuring a dual network. One for the other for 5G and 2.4 g. I put the 2.4 for older speeds and 5G for speed N/AC Protocol. After setting this up, I chose the 5G network and now my speeds are shouting along to 224Mbps and solid as a rock.

Other than to be not so smart at least on a Mac platform I see no problem still with this router. I will pass along this information for D-Link. If you purchased one of these and your speed is way slower than expected then you need disable the smart function and have just two separate networks. Catch 5G as it is young, but don't forget that you only let the speed N or AC. Don't let not default on older slower speeds.

Bluetooth is turned on? If so, turn the Bluetooth off and test the performance of the WiFi.

After upgrading my laptop HP DV7 with Windows 8, I found my wireless connection was extremely slow. My card is a Broadcom 4322AG. This seems to be the same problem as has been in the forum

Slow WiFi with Broadcom 4322 and Windows 8 CP.

Following the advice in this forum, I changed to TKIP AES security and everything seems to work properly.

Thanks a lot for sharing your solution! My problem was that I downloaded at least 1 Mbit/s and transferred approximately 15 Mbps. Then I changed to TKIP, just as you said and now I'm moving 21 Mbps of download and 19 Mbps downloading. All this on a MacBook 5.1 :)

  • Slow wifi transfer rates with Airport Extreme network.

I have an Airport extreme Rev 5 and am trying to transfer files between 2 Mac on the network. Everything works fine, but the transfer speed is only about 2.5 meg per second. Should get more than that?

Everything works well, I get my full bandwidth from my ISP (11.8 Mbps) when downloading via wifi, it s just during the transfer of files within the wifi network that things are slowing down.

    Thanks for any help

    Tim

Wireless is inefficient when you double jump... This means that... both computers are transfer of files via the Wi - Fi because wireless deals actually double the packages... So he immediately reduces speed by 50%.

Let us ensure that we are using right units first.

    1. your download from the internet is measured in bits per second... Please use b for forests.

    2. your file transfer is measured in bytes per second... Please use B for bytes.

So, if you look at the monitor of activity... a copy of computer file wireless to NAS (ethernet) ran at 38-40 MB/s

If I transfer to another computer that is also the wireless speed would be halved. Or worse... (see below, even with AC wireless is far worse) depends on the slower links.

So how do you measure the speed of file transfer and is it bits or bytes per second?

What is the speed of connection on each computer.

Hold down the option key and click on the fan wireless.

You can see that this computer has a 450Mbps link speed... It will never transfer files to that more than half, but you wait for connections at full speed to get the best links.

    My new computer...

So if I transfer the computer file to another, it looks like this.

Even with that wireless, it's much slower than the SIN that has ethernet and spinning drive... The computer has SSD.

  • the Airport extreme, giving a slow wifi connection

    Hello

I've got my download speed of 200 Mbps cable company. I checked a good signal by plugging directly in he back of the Modem (to remove the photo Airport extreme wifi.) ... I have 221Mbps actually...

However, once I'm going to plug in the Airport Extreme and text my speed on wifi, I get only between 24 Mbps or max after several trials of 54 Mbps on download... I should get just under 200 Mbit/s because of the normal fall through wifi... However, not to the extreme I loss I get...

Tuesday Apple Support has helped me to perform a reboot of the router and I have been good to get 198Mbps... It is here 2 days later and I'm back down to 24 Mbps...

I tried to redo the reboot: unplug the unit, hold down the reset button, then while holding down the reset button, add power on and continue now stuck until it flashes yellow... But curiously, after it flashes it goes straight to the green... (never asking me to airport utility to add a password)

    My Wifi speed stink...

What continues with this device... anyone have recommendations?

I already proved the cable line and the modem (with the support of motorola)...

    Thank you

Most likely you have a faulty AirPort Extreme. Please ask Apple to replace this unit for you.

If you wish to renew a reset, follow the instructions very carefully:

    Turning off AirPort Extreme

    Wait 7 - 8 seconds

Hold the first reset button... and hold in an additional 7 to 8 seconds while simultaneously you reconnect the power on the AirPort Extreme.

Release the reset button to zero after the period of detention

Allow a minute for the AirPort Extreme restart. The light will be Orange fixed for 15-20 seconds about, then turn to flashing orange slowly after about 30 seconds

A slow amber flashing light... about once per second... confirms that the airport has been reset and you can set it up again.

  • Satellite C50-B16T - slow WiFi connection using battery power

    Hello

I have a new Satellite C50-B16T and discovered that when I take it off the power, wifi is slowing down as HELL, to the point that I can't even use it and have to connect it to the power.

I saw a few solutions on a TX adjustment, but my Satellite actually doesn't have this option, and if this is the case, I don't know how to find it and why it is happening.
Would really appreciate if anyone has any suggestions, since my laptop is now essentially a desktop all the time, which makes its pretty useless goal...

Go to-> WLan card device manager-> properties-> tab power management

Here, uncheck the option that allows the system to disable or control the unit in order to save energy.

Also check the tab 'Advanced' for possible energy saving options.

  • WNDR3700 very slow wifi

Seems all of a sudden that my wireless is slow and weak.

I get download speeds of 60 Mbit/s connected to the desktop via the router, but only about 10 with wifi. Router is 2pi away.

I looked in the settings and tried a few things but no help at all. Hope someone has some ideas, thanks

I did download speed tests using residential Road Runners speed test. Only 10 Mbps over 60 wired wireless

This is a problem that happens all of a sudden.

Did a reset and still poor wireless network. Tried to change channels once or twice as suggested on various sites. No effect at all. Cell phones would connect only barely 3 ft away from the modem. I think it is just wore out

Purchased a new WNDR4300 and works perfectly out of the box

  • Very slow WiFi on the 3G xoom with update 3.2

    Hi all

Was wondering if anyone else has the same problem.

I bought the unit a few days before and same day updated to Android 3.2 version. I use internet on my Wifi at home and have a Netgear - WGR614 router. Browsing speed is very very slow and do not open many of the sites.

The intensity of the signal on the xoom is - (asu 3-105 DBM).

Is this a problem with the Android 3.2 update or my wifi at home is low? I was able to reset the tab to the original version?

    any help is very appreciated.

  • Slow WIFI, HP Pavilion dv6 6102eo communication

My computer is running bad in my local WIFI. I think 40-50 Mb/s but more often get 10-17 Mb / s. (I run win 7-64 bit on this computer) there is no other traffic. Intresting, is that I have another computer a Compac CQ, running on Linux (Ubuntu) 64-bit. There are, I have 45-50 + Mbps. they are placed in the same place.

I also had a Compac HP dc5800 win 7 32-bit. I use an external unit of D-link WIFI (it's an "old" computer) I get the same WIFI speed as the other computer to Windows 7. BUT when Win XP worked, I got 35 - 45 Mb/s!

    All systems are updated.

    Does anyone have an explanation?

    Hello letasvar,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that your computer is slow on a wireless network. To resolve this problem, try the procedure described in this document from HP: troubleshooting your wireless network and Internet access (Windows 7)

These measures should be sufficient to solve the problem. If this isn't the case, you can try a manual reinstallation of the driver:

    1. go in Device Manager, then the network cards.

    2. right click on the wireless driver and select "Uninstall".

    3. restart the computer. This will force the driver to resettle.

Please let me know the results of your troubleshooting. Thank you!

    Mario
