Small question of network

Hello:

I have fast network question and I was wondering if someone can help me...

If I have virtual machines on the same group of ports configured with IP addresses on the same subnet, this means that traffic between virtual machines never leave ESX (vSwitch) box?  If the traffic (between VMs on the same group of post) never leaves the vSwitch, is there a way to block traffic between virtual machines? What is advised here?

I just want all traffic go by my gateway even between VMs on the same port group... Is this possible?

Thank you

qwert

Virtual machines on the same subnet on the same ESX Server in the same portgroup will never hit the physical network.

You can force your virtual machines do not ' see ' each other using PVLANs, but you would need vsphere enterprise plus (and distributed its vswitch) to do. But even in this case, since you're still on layer2, VMs will NEVER see each other.

The only way for your configuration to work, is to put each VM in one VLAN, then deliver them with a physical router.

  • Quick question on network printing when you use e3000 in cascade mode

HELO there! I'm new to the community and would be very happy if someone can help me please with a small question I have?

I just got Verizon FiOs in my house and still have my old Linksys e3000 router. I was reading online that it is possible to configure as an another access point wireless or cascade to expand my wifi. However, I am in a pinch of becaue I have I used to print wireless from my laptop. My printers are connected by ethernet to my router. I don't know if I can make the LAN - LAN configuration so I was looking at the LAN - WAN configuration procedure, but he said something on that there are separate networks (2) instead of (1) if I like that. I'm unable to connect a wire from my Verizon for the Linksys router.

So my question is, if I do LAN - WAN configuration cascading, I would be still able to print from my printers if they are always connected to the e3000 if I am connected to the main network? Or if I should move to the other network before printing?

I apologize if my question makes no sense - I don't have a lot of experience with routers or the words with her.

I would be very happy if someone could help me. Thank you!

    I followed this guide - http://www.linksys.com/ca/support-article?articleNum=132275

Cascading E3000 LAN to LAN works perfectly with the existing configuration of the printer.

In waterfall or connect a Linksys router to another router

Things to keep in mind when cascading a second router:

    1. Change the IP address of the secondary router to something like 192.168.1.254 so its on the same network, but is not in conflict with the main router
    2. Make sure that the DHCP service is disabled on the secondary router
    3. Make sure that nothing is ever connected to the Internet port on the secondary router
  • Qosmio G20: Question about networking & monitor in and Xbox

Just bought a G20 last week and I'm in love. First laptop I've ever owned and its worth every penny.

    A few scarecrows.

I never received an antenna adapter to connect my in arial, but I'm sure I sohuld of fact. In the quick start manual of what it listed everything that I should received in the pack, and who was listed. Was not enough one - if anyone knows a number to contact Toshiba and get one of these sent to me? Can't seem to find one anywhere.

Second... I'm going to my brother's computer network. Novice course of network, it does not work that well. I'm not sure whether if we need a router? I just want to connect to his computer and use the internet through that. As you would with a network cable. So he bought himself a wireless network card... but we'll be buggered if we can get it too work. Any advice or a definitive guide... or do we this router after all?

And thirdly, sorry for the long post, but I'm playing my Xbox by the G20, but I'm having no luck what so ever. I plugged the monitor using the three composite cards (white, yellow and red) but nothing that passes through. The only way I've seen a photo is when you set up a decoder and it happens in a small box when its analyses for channels... but I can't select to see and it seems s delay 1 second.

Sorry for the post long-term... just try to make it all sorted.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello

You are right that the Qosmio is a very nice unit.
But I'm not sure about the antenna adapter. I found the information in the user manual that the antenna adapter is optional. In this case the adapter will not always come with the laptop, but you can ask that the Toshiba service partner.

Well well, on the network connection: If you want to connect two computer, you need a crossover network cable if you don t use the router. In addition, two laptop computers must be in the same workgroup. In addition, you must manually set the IP address, the default gateway and the subnet mask in the internet protocol TCP/IP properties.

  • Question about network bridge

    Hello

I'm on Windows 7 Edition Home Premium and I have 2 installed on my PC LAN cards, one is built in, the other has been added via PCI. I have my internet connection is the built in LAN port and I use a cross on the cable that is plugged into the PCI LAN port that plugs a laptop. I went into network connections and highlighted both and right-click on one of the bridged connections them and selected.

The laptop I have is for work and has Cisco Anyconnect installed on it so that we can access VPN. I guess my main question is, how would that work regarding the VPN tunnel through my bridged connection and would be too, that somehow invade my privacy web surfing on my own PC where the network bridge is configured? The VPN tunnel is completely separated from my research on the internet on my PC or my company would be able to see what I do on my personal PC, because the VPN crosses the bridge network on the PC? I hope my question is clear enough here.

  • Small questions about Dataguard

    Hello

I have a few questions about Dataguard. I'm new to DG, carry me so for the display of these fundamental questions:

We plan to install Oracle 12 c to Win 2012 R2 with primary and physical intelligence on different physical servers. We are looking for HA solution, but cannot afford to license CARS. The two primary & Eve are going to be in the same data center connected via a 1 gigabit network. So I have a few questions related to it.

    (a) since both of our primary & Eve is going to be in the same data center with good connectivity. Can I assume that although Data guard is more DR solution, in our case it would be HA solution since we have no network latency.

    (b) is it safe to assume that where primary fails, then the day before can automatically take the role of primary education without any manual intervention, possibly using Dataguard broker?

    (c) so I understand that where primary breaks down, the existing connections transfer automatically from primary to standby db (most recent primary), but how my web based java application will know that more recent connections must be sent to the standby db Server (more recent primary)? I guess net Oracle has a provision to handle this? Who can be automated?

    (d) given that I have only 2 physical servers, can I deploy broker Dataguard on a normal PC (since it is a thin client) assuming the PC is kept in the data center and is online 24/7?

    (e) I was reading about the modes of Protection, account required to our current situation & infrastructure, I choose 'Maximum availability Mode' instead of 'maximum Performance '.

    (f) what is your point of view about Oracle integrated security? I hear too much on Oracle failsafe, because people generally go to a combination of CARS & dataguard for HA? We have a few additional storage that can be shared between the two servers, but I feel with literally no DG network latency can provide us HA.

    Concerning

    Learner

    (a) since both of our main & secondary is going to be in the same data center with good connectivity. Can I assume that although Data guard is more DR solution, in our case it would be HA solution since we have no network latency.

Well it will not provide the level of HA that is RAC. RAC is a Transparent Application failover. With a physical standby, you need to apply some delay for a failover operation. You can implement the observer that can automate the failover and reduce the time.

    (b) is it safe to assume that where primary fails, then the day before can automatically take the role of primary education without any manual intervention, possibly using Dataguard broker?

This isn't really the DG broker, but rather the observer you will need to implement. The DG broker automate failover. It will be the observer who "sees" (where its name) that the principal is down and initiate the failover process. To do this, the observer will use the DG broker, so it will be necessary.

You'll want to read on the QuickStart failover. http://www.Oracle.com/technetwork/articles/smiley-fsfo-084973.html

    (d) given that I have only 2 physical servers, can I deploy broker Dataguard on a normal PC (since it is a thin client) assuming the PC is kept in the data center and is online 24/7?

The DG broker is required to run on the database server. The DG broker will run on the primary and standby. I think that what you're asking really anything is if the observer can run on a PC. Yes it can. However, it is probably not a good idea. A PC will not have the internal hardware redundancy, a server can have. If the PC can fail more often than to a server. And if the gods are bad, it will fail when you most need.

    (e) I was reading about the modes of Protection, account required to our current scenario & infrastructure, I choose 'Maximum availability Mode' instead of 'maximum Performance '.

Your choice should depend on the amount of data loss is acceptable.

    (f) what is your point of view about Oracle integrated security? I hear too much on Oracle failsafe, because people generally go to a combination of CARS & dataguard for HA? We have a few additional storage that can be shared between the two servers, but I feel with literally no DG network latency can provide us HA.

Oracle integrated security only works on Windows with a MS Failover Cluster. Real DBAs do not have Oracle on MSFC.

    See you soon,.

  • Question about network vMotion of the Ferguson VCP5 CERT Guide book.

I'm studying for my VCP5-VTC, and I have a question.

On page 154, a book that I read, it says network vMotion is a vDS ability but not vs.

Can someone help me understand what is vMotion network?

If it comes to vCenter linked mode, this means that the network vDSs are migrated between vCenters when the vCenter fails?

I thought that most of the work made by the switch hidden on the CDS of the ESXi server that does not migrate anywhere. ?

Thank you in advance for thinking about my question. I googled 'network vmotion' but most of the responses were in regards to VM vMotion.

  • Question on networks of Virtual Machine

I have a host machine running Windows 7. I installed VMware player and I create a virtual computer running Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.5 (almost identical to the version 5.5 of Red Hat). In the end I will be installing an application on the virtual machine that is not compatible with DHCP. So, when I install OEL 5.5 I need to manually provide information from network devices (IP address, primary DNS, subnet mask and host name). I've done it before on successfully on a material physical but never before on a virtual machine. On my first attempt I was wrong and my web browser running on the virtual machine can connect to the Internet.

My instructions say "set the gateway information based on the IP Address of the gateway router. I wonder if this is correct in view of the virtual machine.

On the machine host, when I run the ipconfig command in the DOS window I see a mask of address and the IP subnet for the host, and I see two additional network adapters for VMware (VMnet1 and VMnet8). The three entries (for example, the host VMnet1 and VMnet8) have the same subnet mask value and different IP addresses (first two segments of the IP addresses are the same, third and fourth segments are different).

My question is, what are VMWare network cards and I have to pay attention to these IP addresses when I manually configure networking on the virtual machine?

VMware Player provides essentially 3 types of network connections:

    • 'The bridge' - directly connected to your router
    • "Host-Only' (VMnet1) - limited to the host and the virtual machines network
    • "NAT" (VMnet8) - network address translation

VMnet1 and VMnet8 virtual cards that allow the host to communicate with the virtual machines and vice versa.

Depending on if your virtual machine should be accessible from other systems, you can consider using (in - and outgoing) Bridged or NAT (outgoing mail). With Bridged networking, addresses are usually provided by your router/DHCP server. For NAT, the address of the gateway/DNS is 192.168.x.2. Since the VMware Server DHCP internal for NAT and Host-Only uses 192.168.x.128... 254 for dynamic addressing, you want to select a static address in the 192.168.x.3... range 127.

The easiest way to find out how to correctly configure the network, must first set the operating system to DHCP, note gatherings settings and then just choose another IP address when you configure static settings.

  • small question standard dvd menu nav...

I'm working on a small project right now, it's a concert band. 10 titles, 10 chapters. an hour of time altogether. and I have a 'bonus' of chance from the back stage. now I created a playlist. each song, as well as the bonus feature is his own scenario. I created a playlist for the presentation of the feature, and then I have the pages of chapters, which is where I need help.

I have 2 pages of Chapter 6 songs on 1, 4 on the other (I didn't like the way it looked with 5 and 5, in comparison to the wallpaper 'background' and such) anywho, I WANT to be able where I click on 1, the song when its done to return to the menu and select the next song, that for each song to the menu. I have this great work. question is, is anyway to set up where she did this if left to play, BUT if you press "next chapter" on the remote control while watching a page of chapter link individual song, it passes to the next logical song? I tried several things, but can't seem to get to do. Still allows for this? DVD allows for this? I thought I had to do...-DVD, but now I don't remember.

is anyway to set up where it comes from if to play, BUT if you press "next chapter" on the remote control while watching a page of chapter link individual song, it jumps to the next logical song?

If I click on tell link to 1 song, 1 minute go ' oh, song of evil * skip next chapter * 'it just goes back to the menu.

As the establishment, no.  I do not know I see it's a big problem: 'Oops, wrong song, next successful chapter, go to the button in the menu for the next song, you play the next song.

The main alternatives will give place to play all songs once you select one from the menu.

  • A small question about iCloud photo storage

    Hello

I was wondering if once the internal memory of the iPhone is full iCloud will continue store photos? Or the phone must have storage for iCloud to store? I just want to know before you buy an extra 50gig.

    Thank you

iCloud is NOT a hard drive in the sky.

iCloud photo library is designed to synchronize photos between your device and your iCloud-storage space. If you choose the OPTIMIZATION setting, the device will have files small size phone while files are in iCloud. This can drastically reduce the needs of storage on your phone.

The number of photos and videos on your device is always synchronized between your phone and iCloud. Remove deletions from one place to another.

iCloud "will not continue storing the photos...» "for you.

  • No sound after question sleep & network on the Satellite A200 - 14 d

    Hello

again satellite a200 14 d vith Vista Home Premium, and there are two annoying problems:

    1. very often, but not in every time, when I close the lid to put the computer in sleep mode - after I opened (continued) even once, the icon in the status bar shows me, that there is "no audio device" (Red Cross on the speaker) and so the laptop is totally not mute - no possible to sound (except way loud and unexpected "grinding" of the disk hard suprisigly hehe - grrrrr...).
Sometimes it helps just to close and open the lid, but most of the cases I had to restart the computer.
Of course, I downloaded the latest driver realtek audio from this site, but does not help.

    2. also very often my network freezes. I currently use the UMTS connection on mobile phone - Bluetooth; He stops just in some sort of work itself; If I click on the shortcut icon 'dial-up' nothing happens, also if I right click on the network in the status bar icon - nothing, and if I go to control panel - network & sharing the computer freezes completely, while I have to turn it off by longpushing the switch.

    Who can help? Thank you!

  • Small question wireless - IdeaPad Y730

Hello. I just recently received my Lenovo Y730, Vista Home Premium x 64, in the past few days and it works perfectly, alternative for a small hiccup. It is more than an inconvenience, but I am wondering how to fix, or what goes wrong in general.

I have connected to my router wireless very well, but get shut down or restart? When it comes on the next time it seems have unchecked the "automatically connect" box and turn on automatically when I connect. I have re-checked several times and each time it automatically reconnect.

Any ideas on the problem? Or a solution? I'll try things with the router itself, but it doesn't seem like it's the problem for me. Can be so bad.

Your computer comes with installed ReadyComm? If so, try to uninstall it and use Vista built in Wireless Manager.

  • Small question about shuffle

I'm considering the purchase of a Clip +, but have not actually tested one, so I need to ask a question that the people who have already one can answer easily for me.  When you have turned on shuffle, what behavior is the player uses?  He selects a song at random, each new track?  Does make a playlist of your songs in a random order?  If so, is it always the same random order?

Years, I had a Rio Forge that would be random to your playlist, and once he played once in the list, it would make a new random list for you.  It's basically the behavior I'm looking for.  I prefer to be able to return to the song that played there are 2 songs, but also know what song is coming up next.

I realize that it is a somewhat trivial question, but it is important for me to find a player who behaves the way I want it.

    Thanks in advance!

Also; It seems that the player might make a playlist when shuffle is turned on, you can go back and get the songs that played before.  Example 1-9-4, then looking back at 9-1.

Finally, after playing through the music, the player seems to start over with a new mixed single list.

  • Many friend... small questions will soon tear my head off!

Hey guys... well so where to start.

I've just set up my desktop computer new, not wireless upward at the place that that we just moved. Here's how everything is connected:

    Router cable - Switch (EZXS88W) - (WAP54G) - old girlfriends Mac

    -Ethernet to my computer

So my computer is on the net very well. Girlfriends Mac, however, would pick up the wireless signal, but the browser wouldn't load ('not connected to internet... »). Being the genius I am, I started to change some settings on the router using the CD with that he came. In the SETUP, I changed the setting to 'Static IP' to "DHCP mode" (not sure if that's true, but you guys probably know what I mean). The reason I did it was because the Mac has said that he was unable to find the IP address, so I thought this might help.

    Clearly, I'm horrible with networks.

Now the problem is when I try to enter setup on the CD, it says that it cannot find the router.

Anyone know where I should start to try to solve this problem?

Thanks for your time in advance!

An access point is essentially providing a network via a wireless connection. A connection between a computer and an access point is much the same, as if you were using a cable access point ethernet to connect the computer to the same switch that use it.

Because of this, connect a switch or an access point WAP54G wireless directly to your modem means that all devices will have a direct link with the modem and your ISP. However, most providers allow you to use a single internet connection at a time. In other words, you can have only one device connected to the internet at any time.

A router allows you to share a single internet connection with multiple LAN devices.

Setup in your last port will work. That's how you use a router.
