Smart Update slows U310

Hi you guys at Lenovo.

Software/installation of smart update on my U310 consumes a lot of time to treatment (+ 30, 40%) at the start of this ultrabook and it remains in memory all the time until I finish this process.
Can anyboy explain this and it is absolutely necessary that the process is still active?

Thanks in advance for your support,

Jim

Thanks Zehnsteine,

I have just UNchecked Smart update in msconfig, I do not need desperately

But I still wonder why this process should consume such duration of treatment.

I guess that developers consider pro all pros and cons before putting it on the market...

Maybe I have to wait for an update/correction of this problem?

Friend, Jim

    Hello

The wireless internet connection seems to be ok if you can access the Web sites.
So I think that the problem must be installed software or application.

    You use Norton 360?

  • [Photoshop CC 2014]  New guides smart everything slow

I use 15 "top of the range MacBook Pro Retina Display and it saddens me that I had to disable the new Photoshop CC 2014 guides intelligent because when I work on large files PSD GUI they just slow everything down.

Whenever I have try to zoom in or out by using the keyboard shortcut, I see the wheel rotation of death. I think this happens because most of the shortcuts are used by pressing the command key, which is the key that activates the new smart feature guide.

We just released the first update for PS CC 2014 (20141) and the update includes a few performance patches.  Update to the latest version if you have a chance please post here if you are still experiencing some slowness when smart guides are turned on.

  • El Capitan 10.11.5 update slow SMB (bug)

Since I upgraded my Macbook Pro retina 2015 to 10.11.5 SMB transfer speeds to my Synology NAS are not go faster, then 25Mbit.

When I use AFP I get 110Mbit speeds on my nas.

A Mac Mini which has 10.11.4 and the SMB and AFP tested speeds are good 110Mbit.

10.11.5 mac mini updated and I get speed via SMB 25Mbit!

Looks like a bug in the release of El Capitan 10.11.5 SMB protocol

Same thing here - very slow speeds to my NAS Qnap (SMB) (also the mentioned 25Mbit. Before 10.11.5 I had about 100 Mbit).

My machine Windows 10 speed is still ok = > it is not a problem of the SIN.

  • Update slow frame rate during playback of videos

I noticed when playback of YouTube videos, the update of the video images at a slower pace to the point where he feels that the film takes place in slow motion. Sometimes it conditions other stays for a few minutes. There is no any degree if I'm streaming or playing a movie stored on disk hard (machine is not the CD player).

I ensure it no other apps work which could infiltrate power of main processor/RAM or video processor. All the drivers are the latest and greatest, and I don't see any warnings anywhere in System Manager.

Hello and thanks for the display on the HP support forums.  If you have gone through removal and installation of the drivers and make sure they are all pilots of fixes.  You've gone and made sure all the apps are closed so that they do not have the resources.  You've done everything you can do on one aspect of the software.

  • Inspiron 11-3147 A09 bios update - slow post

Has anyone else who noticed after the bios update to your 11-3147 A09 she way takes longer to start? It takes on average 15 seconds to look at the logo Dell before Windows 10 begins to start. I installed an SSD drive once it arrives at the point of the operating system to start it is fast as lightning... just the bios post seems unusually slow. I will try to reinstall the previous bios to confirm. I wonder if anyone has had this happen also. I also have an 11-3148 and there was an update of the bios for it the same day. It has not affected there startup speed at all and in fact seemed to deal with "plugged not supported" she had.

    I use a Samsung Evo 850 256 GB.

Here is an update of this strange story: yesterday, I started the bios A07. BIOS went all very well, but then can't start windows. It is not my drive. He does it in the bios but not during the post apparently. All start-up parameters and the reader look the same as they were before. Tried a 10 repair facility that has actually worked for me this time (before I only got failures for some reason any). It ends and gives me a file of the application log, as he killed in the process. Mostly just the Apps from Dell that is not a big deal. Rebooted and once more start times are nice and fast as I hoped. And that's not all folks! On top of that, he now sleeps properly instead of stopping just as I was whining in my last post. Weird to say the least. It was my last ditch effort. If it didn't I was going to return the dreaded 8.1. Used all night because I normally and it works perfectly. The only thing I noticed mention, is that the battery does not charge of 100% which is what fixed the update to bios A09. No biggie. It says 99% and I know that it is fully charged. It really makes me wonder how the guys at Dell discover stuff before it was dismissed. Seems that every type of computer that is working for my company is in the same way... a correction of a bug but neglect to check if the patch touched anything else and walk.

  • New system Win 7 Pro Builds - take 2 days of updates - SLOW

    Hello

We build Win 7 Pro SP1 machines for our customers on a daily basis. Each generation system is exactly the same with respect to the hardware and the OS.

Once the equipment is mounted, load us Win 7 Pro, install all the drivers, activate the key and then begin the process of 2 days to update the system before we can finish the build & ship to our customers.

There are usually about 230 + automatic updates who needs every machine according to the update of windows. We have 32 GB of RAM in each machine that we build during the update phase to ensure that there is nothing on our side to help make this process slower. (Our machines are rich in resources and very fast hardware)

When we launch the update, it will last for 5-8 hours BEFORE it starts the download/update/restart process. There is no possible way that we can maintain our customers in a faster way because of this process 2 horrible day. This process of 2 days is eating my lunch.

    Question:

Is there anything we can do to simply load the updates on our end - or another possible solution that does not require that us invest in a roll of enterprise quality cost platform?

Note: Starting tomorrow, we're going to experiment with cloning a fully charged & update Win 7 Pro Solid State HD - which has not yet been activated with the key. Once clone us the master SSHD to an another SSHD, we will then activate the 2nd SSHD with the appropriate Windows button, etc... Our idea is to just clone the master for the builds - then enable each SSHD on the new machine with the windows key is supplied with each machine.

Any ideas are appreciated - if our experimental is the better solution, please let me know.

    Thank you!

    Jason

  • Problems since update: slow catalog and crash

I have recently updated to the latest version of LR and have had problems with the fact that it is slow and crash since then. I recently posted that I had some insights on these imports, but I solved that by optimizing the catalog. This morning I sat down to work, and my catalog has been extremely slow. I restarted my computer several times but LR was still unusable. Then it crashed and said the catalog was corrupted and needed repair. After 30 minutes, I was told repair was not possible. I backup every night, so I copied the backup of my EXHD, and open instead. It was slow but functional. I optimized it and when he finished it is still slow. Now, it crashes after a few minutes of being open and now it will not open at all. It is a vital catalog and the only backup I have is that I already tried to work from. Help!

  • Windows 7 update - slow download, svchost high CPU usage

I have a problem downloading by using the Windows Update application. This problem started after January 2016.  In the past, the request of update seems to work without the use of the svchost high CPU and with a reasonable download time.  There is usually a delay until the download has started, but then they ended quickly.

I have 4 computers: 3 running Windows 7 Pro (CPU - Intel dual, i5 & i7) and 1 running Windows 7 Home (Intel i3).  If the problem is not related to the CPU hardware as best I can tell.

My update setting is 'check for updates but let me download and install ".

The Windows Update process includes 3 steps:
    1. identify the important and recommended updates for your computer.
    2. the selection and download updates.
    3. the creation of the restore point and of the installation, the selected updates.

My problem is step 2, download the selected updates.  This happens on all 4 systems, and I do not expect a download to be this CPU load.  The download time is too long on all systems 4.

My online search for answers has been frustrating, but several posts said search for viruses, malware and Trojans.  I ran Malwarebytes (free), Windows Defender, Norton Security and ESET (online) on systems and no objects are found.

My most recent experience involved my Lenovo 7847 system (Intel dual core). Monday, May 23, I checked the updates and there were 15 updates important and 3 optional updates listed.

After reviewing the updates, I chose the 15 updates and started the download process.  The svchost.exe that is associated with the update happened to 45-60% CPU usage, update status showed no size or % finished and the task manager - network or explore the process did not show any activity download for a long time.

Finally, after about an hour, the update showed the download size and the % downloaded.  Svchost usage remains high during the time of whole download.  Once the download is complete, the restore point was created and updates have been installed, who also took some time (but it would be I/O CPU & Drive dependent).

The download status has not changed during most of the time that the download process is running.  The Task Manager and process explore both show very little network activity up to that very near the end of the download procedure. There is therefore no real indication that the process is blocked or just turn very slowly.   It almost seems that the Microsoft servers are overloaded, they delay the download for some reason, or the process svchost and sub-process fail to create good handshake with the server for download.

    My Questions:

    1. Why is svchost usage so high when nothing seems to happen?
    2. Why does take an hour or more to download the updates?  These aren't the huge file sizes, and this attempt to update was almost 2 weeks after Patch Tuesday, then Microsoft servers should not be overloaded.
    3. Why is the situation unchanged for so long during the download process?
    4. most important, what can I do to change this situation?

Thanks in advance for your help.

My 'update problem' seems to have changed.  Checking updates takes a lot of CPU resources and a lot of time.

We will leave well enough alone for now. [It took 3-4 hours for MU download/install updates of June on my Win7 boxes].

But please bookmark this thread. If the behavior persists in July - and especially in August, respond to this thread instead of starting a new. Good luck!

  • BlackBerry 10 Knowyou update slow - 13% in 4 hours

Is something wrong with Knowyou, my phone? My update (which dates back to 10.2.2. because nothing else worked) I am 13% an it took about 4 hours.

When I did my first update, I did not have this problem. It started after decommissioning in OS 10.2.2 form: 10.2.1.294 10.2.1.3247

I have purged the Ubi and all the stuff linked from my PC and recompiled Knowyou. This improved upload speed from PC to Q10 considerably. Lets see, this will help me to complete the update and get back on my phone.

  • Since the last update, slow in real reality, why thunderbird?

It takes forever to go from 1 folder to another, and it takes forever to load emails. This all has happened since the last update 18.

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try one of the following:

    • Restart Thunderbird with disabled modules (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click "restart with disabled modules. If Thunderbird works as usual, there is an add-on or theme interfere with normal operations. You will need to reactivate the modules one at a time until you locate the offender.
    • Restart the operating system in safe mode with network. This loads only the basics needed to start your computer while allowing Internet access. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: 10 Windows, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX
If the safe mode for the operating system to resolve the problem, there are other software on your computer that is causing problems. The possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as updates of the program.
