Somehow, I lost a user profile. I'm sure I have it has not deleted, but is no longer appears when I start Firefox.

I think it is after an update that shows only one profile. I no longer get a choice of profiles that Firefox has just opened. Can I retrieve my other profile. And if so, how?

Thank you!

Do you mean that the Profile Manager does not start?

Make sure that all Firefox processes are closed to show the Profile Manager if you launch Firefox with the '-p' command line switch.
You can check under the processes tab in Windows Task Manager.

    Hi Nicolas

This error occurs is because the Service that is running is not properly managed by the system.

See this article for an explanation.

Event ID: 1530 can be recorded in the journal of applications on a Windows Vista-based or Windows 7 client computer:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/947238

The service involved in your case is the Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant service. This service is used when you connect to a Web site that requires Live ID authentication, as the Microsoft answers Forums.

    Open the Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services.

Scroll down to the Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant service and double click on this service to open the dialogue parameters .

Ensure that the Startup Type: is set to Automatic.

This is a common warning for some services and can usually be ignored, unless you are having problems with this component specific (Windows Live ID).

    Concerning

  • The user profile Service failed - all the usual bugs do not work

I have Windows 7 family on a Lenovo laptop and received the 'User profile on logon Service failed' message when you try to connect.  I have only one profile and that you do not have a backup disk.  There is also no set restore point.  I can access the Safe Mode tried all of the fixes that have been previously published on this issue, but no change, I can't still connect in all but safe mode and any changes such as the removal of the user account and create a new one that takes place is safe mode affects the normal connection the same user apparently damaged, the same message profile.  What can I do else? Windows 7 can be reinstalled in safe mode, I have a disc from another laptop?

I had to throw in the towel and wipe the computer and reinstall Windows. Punishment for not having a back-up or an administrator account.

  • Lost domain user profile

    Hello!

Here, in our society it happened that some domain users have lost there profiles.

What happened after being inactive (they had holidays from 10 to 30 days, and they were not active in the corporate network).

    What's really happening
When a user returns (after a long period of inactivity), and tries to connect to the domain, the profile opens upward, but without documents that has been saved previously. It has been observed that the new profile is created, and the previous mode is stored in the users with the same user name, but with an extension .domainName (for example lusajo.gidion.isubahq where, by the isubahq is the domain name).

To others, it's even worse because they lost everything.

    My request

I would like to get assistance on this issue, which is the real cause of this problem and what is its likely solution in order to save the users in our society.

    Kind regards
    Corinne

If you used the recovery partition on your HP Compaq, you put it to how it was when new.

    You cannot reverse that.

And if you have used non-destructive reinstall HP, you have used their data backup instructions, not Microsoft.

You need to ask HP related to your data.

And if it was a destructive reinstall, you must Recuva, etc..

You want to say "Recuva", not to recover.

Good luck with your data, because if this does not work, you should contact the data recovery experts and they are expensive.

  • lost my win 7 with her user profile has my FF favourites, can I get them back somehow?

Somehow, I lost my user profile in Windows 7 64. He did not come when I try to change user and I can't log off the current user account as it is the only one on the pc now. But, when I go into the users folder in the c drive, I can see my old profile and all its folders and files and programs, but I can't find a way to get you to connect on it. Then... I just took all the files and put them on my new profile... no problems except that now... when I clicked on FF to see if the pc to connect to the internet, it was as if I had just downloaded for the first time and all my bookmarks disappeared. Could all be still hidden somewhere on my PC? as in the programs on the c drive folder? or are they just disappeared, erased somehow? I don't remember what I did but I was in safe mode, and I think I clicked on create a group or a working group and the pc look like it was downloading something. now my old profile is locked up and this news is in its place, everything is identical with the exception of Fire Fox and my favorites.
    Also Note *.
I'm on my new job here at work PC, the pc in question is my old pc work at home at my house.
    Thank you!

In fact, I fixed it myself last night. I found all my old files Fire Fox and my favorites were there so I was able to import my new profile.

I used a small Windows search tool I downloaded awhile there is its called 'Search all' and I typed in "Mozilla" and it pulled up all Mozilla on my pc, I clicked then through files until I found this one with the backup book marks in it. I copy and pasted the path to the file in the import screen of Fire Fox book marks and click ok and then boom, they were there. Then I made a copy of this info and place it in a folder on my desk top in case never happens again I will not have my wife calls me at work at 7:30 asking where his bookmarks are lol!

    1. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/fix-corrupted-user-profile#1TC=windows-7

Your user profile is a collection of settings that make the computer look and work the way you want. It contains your settings for wallpapers, screensavers, wallpapers, pointer preferences, settings of the sound and other features. User profiles ensure that your personal preferences are used whenever you log on to Windows. If you tried to log on to Windows and received an error message telling you that your user profile is damaged, you can try to fix it. You will need to create a new profile and then copy the files from the existing to the new profile.
