  I use Xperia Z5 with DK52 and I don't think it's too unstable. Of course, you can move the phone back or side (it is not completely blocked), but navigation on the phone when connected feels completely safe.

  @z3compactw There is no magnetic original cable. There are only original magnetic docks. What you can do is to pull the cable out of the dock. I know EC21 is a Sony cable but not sold separately, so you can find it in a dock for ultra Z for example (DK 30).

  If you cannot use this method because what did your friend, your options are...

  • Pay Sony for media recovery
  • A base Windows installation followed by installing specific Sony drivers and software from their Web site.

  If you walk down the road of the latter, I would say that, if possible, before you begin reinstalling Windows you download at least the Ethernet drivers and wireless and save in, for example, a USB key. Start your drivers to search for them (and other) here...

  Your principled stand against Sony charges for media recovery is, in my opinion, wrong. As I already said twice...

  If Sony did not provide recovery media that they have provided the means to create them

  If you lost or do not burn them and messed up your recovery partition, it's not for lack of Sony.

  My serious recommendation is to accept a fee of Sony for the recovery media. It will make life much simpler for you.   My Sony Vaio 13 SVF13N13CXB Flip will not charge when plugged in and remains at three percent. Battery icon says "plugged in, not charging."

  RESOLVED:

  I left my computer completely die in having not plugged and turn until he went into this weird reset mode where he was turning power on and off until he eventually just turned off for good. Then I plugged it it in and AHA! -the charging LED amber light turned on and the computer began to load. I think that the computer has become sensitive and he knew that he would die so he is healed itself to charge to stay alive (IE. He understood that I was killing and allowing it to become a brick, but it also has a will to live it fixed itself). I'm just glad, it doesn't have the arm and I worry about the internet connection because it can communicate with other sensitive machines and start to take over the world.
