Spacing of paragraphs

Since I upgraded to El Capitan I can't After/Before leading into Pages.  Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Select the button layout on the toolbar if you do not have a sign showing to the right of your document text Format. Ensure that you have the selected Style tab and section alignment, here's the spacing section. Click on the word ▸ spacing and it will unfold to show the front and after the paragraph settings.

  • How to adjust the spacing between paragraphs in InDesign?

I remember earlier versions of InDesign, simply having a fit that would regulate the amount of space before or after a paragraph. What he did is just to accept the BACKSPACE as an end of paragraph and give the setting you choose, similar to the definition of the line spacing and it was as simple as that. I don't see any icon view setting the spacing of the paragraphs in InDesign now, even a search on the spacing of paragraphs a lot of tangent and complicated theories but nothing simple and direct. Is there a way to do this simply in the new versions of InDesign?

    Hi Ken,

On the far left of your screen, you will see two icons - paragraph and character. At present, the character a is selected, then your control panel is showing options for this. If you click the icon of paragraph below, you will find the controls of spacing you want. It might be that you have a smaller screen as I do, because mine shows the character and paragraph options all the time.

Don't pay attention to paragraph styles. You can format your paragraphs using the Control Panel, select some of your existing text and then make a new style of paragraph based on the selection. I know we all go styles and that they might take a bit of getting used to, but they will save you a lot of time in the long run.

  • Spacing and text Styles - paragraph are possible?

First of all, can I change spacing of the paragraphs in Captivate 8? No line spacing, but the spacing of paragraphs. For example, 6 pt space after a paragraph as you can do in MS-Word.

Second, 8 Captivate allows me to define text styles? I know I can set some styles for all objects such as the legends, but if I can define a style (for example MyTitle = Verdana 18pt "BOLD" or create 11pt Verdana plain = or MyEmphasis = 11pt Verdana italic red) and then apply to a text that I select an object of legend?

Answer is doubly negative. Captivate is not as InDesign, its primary goal is e-Learning, to not publish or processing.

There is no spacing of paragraphs, and I regret as much as you, only leading (line spacing).

There are object styles only, no text style. Use a different (legend or form) text for the title, emphasis etc container and an appropriate object style. You can add attributes to individual words ("BOLD", false fat...) and the color as well. But that's all.

  • spacing of the paragraphs is lost in the epub export

When I export my file InD to an epub, all paragraphs are crushed together, without spaces between.  I tried to add styles to paragraph with 'space before' and 'after' but nothing works.  Adding extra line breaks or returns does not help, either.  There is no spacing between paragraphs in the epub file.

    Help!

Space before and after should work. Can you tell us what version of Indesign are you use and your operating system. If you can share a sample showing the problem we can take a loot at home. You can use Dropbox or similar and post the link here.

In the following screenshot, you'll see that the paragraph at the bottom of the left page overflows the text field on the right page. In cases where the position, headingor paragraph overflow to the next column, I want to force the elements starting with the topic start on the right page.

It is not possible to manually adjust the heights of text frame that paragraphs will constantly change through many pages because of conditional text, and other variables. Is it possible to set up a net of paragraph or another property to automatically produce this behavior across all blocks of text containing these paragraph styles?

  • Is it possible to adjust the paragraph after units of space increment?

Hello everyone. I have a document with pictures inserted in the text stream. I use a style section for the image and one for the description of the image. Paragraph of the picture style has a thumb 0,1875 after the space. I want to set it down. It seems that the increments are fixed to 0,0625 inch at a time (it goes 0 to 0,0625 then 0.125 then 0,1875 and so for) but visually, it actually only adjust when increment reached 0.125 (between the two, it has no visual effect). Is there a way to adjust the increment for she does 0,0625 inch at a time instead of 0.125? Basically, I'm adjusting the space between the image and the description of the image.

You check the attributes for the image description subsection or paragraph image to align with the grid? You should check the description. It is likely to always be a certain amount of space between them because of the leading slug but add more room by using spacing of paragraphs should be gently affecting the spacing unless you align to grid is enabled.

  • The column justification for extending on paragraphs

I'm all new to InDesign. I have a lot of experience with Framemaker and need to accomplish something that was routine with this product.

First off the coast, due to the constant changes and updates, the length of the book and the accidental movement of images (even by House ID, we work with), individually adjust frames is disabled (text framework layers are locked, but the selection of locked objects is enabled, and text editing can work).

We are producing technical manuals for a long time and need to leave the outside edge of the page (in front of the binding) for the most part clear. This will be used for the user and notes of the author, as well as side bars. The ones I know, I can do those with anchored frames.

Often, we also have paragraphs span in this space in order to preserve line breaks necessary without unreadably small text. We will have to do the same thing with the tables. How it accomplishes this in InDesign? The obvious way to do it would be to use three columns and define paragraph styles more to expand on two of them. How do we specify that if all columns can be used for the flow of text (due to covering), only the deepest columns should be used (justification of text in columns must remain as-is).

I can force executed outside an image of the text?

If these can be made, anchored frames can be used online? How do ensure you accurate spacing between paragraphs in and out of the frame and how do you do these frameworks break properly on multiple pages?

Is there another workaround solution? A seller of plug-in?

    Thank you

    Jeremy

The alignment of the tables is defined by the paragraph in which it resides. So, put the paragraph containing align towards spine or spinal column, and you should be good to go.

The same concept works for inline frames... That's easier probably depends on your workflow...

  • bullets and paragraph styles

I can't make a list bullet when spacing is identical between the balls but tighter between the lines in the same ball.  I would try to put it in a paragraph style and not manually change the leader because that makes all lines changes

Leader must be defined for line spacing of paragraph intra, then add space befor or sapce after the paragraph style to add more space between the balls. You may need a second style for the first or the last ball to get the correct space above and below the list.

  • CSS in tables - context and paragraphs [was: need help]

    Hello

I use Dreamweaver CS3 and I am trying to add a background image of a cell. I am using the CSS that works but which also adds portions of the background to other cells. The only way I can do it with success is 'Properties' and then 'bg', but I prefer to use CSS because I want my valid page with the W3C. Is there an easy way to do this?

I also have a problem with the spacing of paragraphs. If I align text to the top of a cell with paragraphs, the area above the whole text drops a line in a browser, if I don't have any points then it will look exactly the same as in dreamweaver. Is this normal or is anyway to avoid it happening?.

Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

Paragraphs have a top margin of the default value. You must remove or adjust the margin with your CSS:

    td p {
      margin-top: 0;
    }

  • Paragraph change in margin - did not?

I changed my line of paragraph on this page and also increased the size of the police and removed the line height, which I think I had previously set to 12px (not sure that I really need it so I removed it). The result makes a difference in Dreamweaver - larger text and less spacing between paragraphs, but after downloading and looking, with both MSN and IE browsers, the text appears the same - I even tried a forced reload of the page but it is always the same. Can someone take a look and see if I'm missing something or I'm just losing my mind LOL. Thanks Plesh_Gill

  • Why move the brands section Pages?

I am writing a catalog for sales of photo using Pages 5.6.2 document (no page set mode) with El Cap 10.11.5 mode and invisible view turned on, I noticed that the section marks can move from left to right and can lengthen or shorten when moving objects nearby.  I have a lot of text boxes and inserted images, and this movement around seems odd and the precise object positioning is difficult.  Am I overlooking something that could relieve the difficulties is cause me?

You have the Textwrap to set on the objects and possibly use multiple spaces, tabs, performance and proportional spacing line to position your text.

When you move the objects they are pushing the text around, as they are supposed to, otherwise the text will flow under them and disappear.

If you want a better layout more controllable, make the Inline objects (including a part of the text) and preferably paste them into their own points to the standard before and after spacing as a Style so that they coincide evenly. Also use Exact line spacing for paragraphs, except for images which must remain proportional spacing, as they vary in height.

  • How to keep personal font settings in WordPad

How to store personal settings for the type of police and size, more than line and spacing of the paragraphs in Windows 7 Rich Text Documents, while maintaining its usual use:

Given that so many people around the web keep struggling with this problem, I feel obliged to present this tried and proven method that is simplicity at its best. In short, the guru on this forum, who spend much of their time to help others-"Thank You". The following message is verbose by need, but I'm sure you will like the instructions step by step short and easy at the end...

    First, The bad news

Some workarounds previously suggested here and elsewhere are close, but not close enough. Users are greatly hampered by confusion and/or incomplete sets of instructions; or having to adopt complex usage patterns; or be forced to open a WordPad only one place model (that is, when pinned to a jumplist Taskbar, or by creating and using a shortcut); or having to perform the steps that are totally useless as having previously entered text in their newly created documents; or told to change the default path of the properties for the program WordPad itself (a popular PC mag); etc... And all-the-moment, whenever this subject is revisited a perpetual solution is proposed.

    Next - The good news

For more than a decade now, I used WordPad widely enough for simple daily documentation purposes (rather than my Office Suite), and of course millions more can claim the same thing. I would now like to share with everyone of the silver bullet that allows me to open a text Document 'CLEAN' new, with ALL of my desired policy rich and held spacer and settings anywhere on my PC, except the start menu.

This method integrates with drop down menus for all partitions and folders file, as well as the context menu in all locations, including the office. The only exception is when you open the WordPad program directly via the start menu, in fact where you will continue to get the windows settings by default, if necessary.

I really not remember the last time I personally went up out of my way to open a new rich text Document in the menu start, because the work is simply not executed in this place. And there is no need to use a shortcut or for WordPad Jumplist because I am able to simply create a new custom file since that she has planned at the site as usual, including a right-click on the desktop as you wish.

    Now--The really good news

This insertion of registry is actually quite simple and works perfectly, more instructions are easy to understand, and the process takes up to 5 minutes to implement. New personal settings for fonts and spacing are actually kept in a document template and the settings can be changed in the future at will.

The procedure simply uses a subroutine model integrated in Win7, in order to circumvent annoyingly entrenched WordPad default settings. The location for your personal style is the same place where the default read-only Journal Document for Windows Journal to access under Tablet PC - it is a very similar process.

Re-designation functions remain unchanged in their behavior, so regardless of the name given to a new document (including the exact title of the model), the model is NEVER overwritten even if it is not made read-only.

This operation is also totally reversible, simply by removing the template file and the registry of the string value that are initially created without loss of function or stability. Properties and default settings of the WordPad program is in no way modified, through the registry or otherwise - they remain fully intact, as it absolutely should.

Windows 7 by default / / My desired settings

    Font: Calibri / / Arial

    Font size: 11 / / 12

    Line spacing: 1,15 / / 1.0

Line spacing: Added / / deleted

Step 1 - creating a model of personal settings

    (a) In C:\Windows\ShellNew\ create a new rich text named "WordPad settings my model" Document (or whatever you want to name the template, and without quotation marks, just DO NOT add .rtf at the end of the name of this file or it won't work).

    (b) open and edit this file to desired settings for the font type and size, line and spacing of paragraphs. Any other setting change is at your own discretion.

    (c) now, don't forget to hit enter several times (I personally prefer x 5) in order to have several white at the beginning of the model space, which will retain your font settings (with the exception of the last space, who, once left empty always lies with the police by default Windows, similar to the way Windows XP always - used to remember?).

    (d) he has absolutely NO need to type characters in this model! To facilitate the making changes to your settings, the model should NOT be made Read-Only - after all, the location of the file is relatively off the beaten path. Don't forget to save before you close this document.

Step 2 - Add a new string value in the registry

Small Word: If you don't know how to Open regedit, I say this - look at the registry a lot as you would with a good guard dog. There is no reason to fear of biting, unless you do something that you're not supposed to do. However, you MUST display it the respect it deserves! Now type regedit into the search box on your Start menu and click the program on the top...

    (a) Open regeditand in the left column, go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.rtf\ShellNew. To add a new string value, right-click on C:\windows\shellnew and select New > string value, type 'filename' in the field (without the quotation marks or space), and then press enter.

    (b) in the window to the right, right click on the new "file name" field and click on change..., then set the value data to "My WordPad settings Template.rtf" (or whatever you named your model exactly and without quotation marks, and this entry SHOULD include the extension .rtf at the end of the file name). Click OK and exit regedit.

    (c) now, you'll be able to create a new text Document rich from anywhere, as always, you have already, with many empty spaces which are ready for typing with your favorite settings already in place (unless you use the start menu, which will still open up WordPad with all the default settings of Windows 7).

I hope that this information in the interest of others as much as he to me in my daily computing. Answers are most welcome - however, first of all, try the procedure that you may be able to give a comment founded in practical use. Thank you. :)

  • Page does not develop as described in the tutorial (was: delicate design)

Hi, in this tutorial, (https://helpx.adobe.com/muse/how-to/responsive-web-design.html?set=muse--get-started--read y-to-use ) page seems to extend automatically to allow the new elements. This does not happen when I add new items. I would like to know how it works and how to make the elements relative to each other, so when the addition of this new text, how can you stop running on another text without having to manually move all the design whenever you want to make a change?  Thanks Mog

Adobe muse is not exactly a modular design tool, so the answer is no, it will not automatically do what you ask, how to manage what you want, unfortunately, is at the stage of planning the Web site. Which means it's probably the best to design your Web page so you don't have to worry about overlap. Recommended for web designers is to try to use as few elements as possible. For example try using a single text field and continue to the bottom of the page using spacing of paragraphs, left/right justify etc etc. You can paste images "inline" with the text that moves with the text, see here: text on an image

This will make what I think you want, but it requires you to think differently about the design of your Web page.

I hope this makes sense? In addition, in the future, it helps a lot to take screenshots and add them to your message as a picture paints a thousand words!

    Cheers, Steve.
