Specifications of 8700 XPS is a blank PDF, the link for manuals and Documentation

A disappointment and inconvenience on the page for 8700 XPS and Documentation: http://dell.to/10AzZux , is that the 'Spécifications' link generates a blank PDF file.
I hope someone at Dell will correct this.

Thank you all for responding - tips for update browser and Adobe Flash could immediately.

However, an earlier statement, the office video Forum, including URL - 8700 escapes me as I write, was to use "Internet Explorer".    Sorry for not not to give direct credit to this employee of Dell.

Recalling their advice, I used IE on a laptop Win - XP, IT worked!

(Version of IE 8.0.6001.18.702).

Firefox Chrome & on the same laptop Win - XP showed NOT 'Spécifications' properly, but as a blank PDF page.

Unlike other manuals, which are PDF files, on the page of 8700 XPS and Documentation: http://dell.to/10AzZux or www.dell.com/.../xps-8700, the 'specifications' are a web page with a collection of links to pages of spec of separate component, selected and displayed as separate web pages.

The operating system where I reported the problem had been Linux Ubuntu 10,04.4 with Firefox and Chrome browsers.

On the laptop Win - XP, Firefox and Chrome browsers display once again 8700 XPS as a white page PDF specifications.

The likely answer is, in my opinion, to use Internet Explorer to look at the specifications of 8700 XPS.

Thanks for your recommendations.  Next time, I'll be more precise about the Machine, OS, browser &.

For now, I want to order a 8700 XPS.

"Adobe" is the name of the company that provides a great many different applications.

Adobe Reader is free and allows you to view pdf files.

Adobe Acrobat is expensive and allows you to create, edit and view pdf files.

Assuming that you are referring to the reader, uninstall all the versions of it using the control panel > add or remove programs.  Then either

    1. go to http://get.adobe.com/reader/?promoid=BUIGO and download the current version (remember to uncheck the box to install McAfee Security Scan Plus.

    or

    2. go to http://www.foxitsoftware.com/Secure_PDF_Reader/ and download Foxit Reader, a small pdf reader and many more.

Then, install the reader that you have downloaded.

I have a strange problem. I noticed that when I close my XPS 13, it stops (as indicated by the boring before LED) but then later it will start up while it is transported. Sometimes I'll get home, get out of the computer case, and it will be as hot as a heat missile because it worked.

I don't know why it would boot only randomly like that? I have power options 'sleep' when the lid is closed, as shown here: http://i.imgur.com/p0x1C86.png.

Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks :)

I could solve this problem by installing a clean version of Windows 10. I have an MSDN account so I downloaded the ISO from there and everything removed from the hard drive before reinstalling Windows 10. The only problem I encountered is that I wasn't able to install UEFI mode. After you have installed all the drivers for Dell, laptop can accommodate properly and autonomy is great. There must be a problem with software that installs Dell with Windows that is the cause of the sleep problem.

  • Installation of a BLU - RAY DRIVE internal in a 8700 XPS PC.

My purchase of a Dell XPS 8700 computer has arrived, and I want to install a drive internal blu - ray since mine did not come with one.

    Is this possible?

I'm a bit of a novice in computer science and I watched videos online of the people equip their computer with a blu - ray player, but none of them is featured a 8700 XPS.  Can anyone help me with instructions on how to:

    -Open the computer

-connect/install the blu - ray player?

I appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you!

    Hello

It should be possible.  The XPS 8700 should come with unused bays where the blu - ray player can be adapted.   But I must warn you that you're dealing with electronics when you do the upgrades and installs.  Please make sure that you watch videos that explain all the security requirements when it comes to the delicate pieces.

Here is the link to the manuals for the 8700 XPS.   It has both a guide and the specifications for you to review document.  Again, I strongly recommend reading the safety precautions section and "before you begin" to get a better understanding of what you need to do.

It should also be a section in the manual to know how to install a replacement disk, which will essentially be the step by step instructions.

Good luck and don't forget to follow the safety guides and installation instructions completely.

  • Ports SATA 8700 XPS 2/3/4 not seeing not added Blu - Ray burners

I bought an XPS-8700 (16 GB of RAM / HD 2 TB) at Costco online and received on Friday.

Until it happens, I had ordered three items for this:

    Plextor PX-256M5M mSATA SSD

LG WH14NS40 Blu - Ray burner

    Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (not a fan o0f Windows 8)

I installed the SSD drive and it works fine.

I then installed the LG Blu - Ray into the slot ODD1 engraver and connected the cable to the SATA 2 port. After starting the system, I was a little surprised to not see Adding Blu - Ray burner.

I tried then reverse SATA cables will ODD0 and ODD1. Now, the LG Blu - Ray burner is there, but not the DVD recorder provided. I reversed the wires without modification in present readers think that the new SATA cable could be bad.

Then I tried to connect the added drive SATA 4 and SATA 3 with no luck.

From what I can tell, the new burner LG Blu - Ray and SATA cable are both fine in their work when it is connected to the SATA 1.

The DVD/CD burner, nor added Blu - Ray burners work on SATA 2 ports, 3 or 4.

I guess (and we all where that leads) that the second optical drive is supported as the two upper bays are labeled ODD0 and ODD1.

Any ideas as to what is needed to get the XPS-8700 to recognize a CURIOUS on 2-4 SATA ports?

    Thanks in advance,

    Ed

Even though I know that this Post goes back to August 2012, today's date is January 20, 2014... I thought that I would say because I have to bought a XPS8700 and he received just 3 days ago.

After installing a 2nd HDD internal who were executed in my Dell XPS420 (OS Win7)... when I first started my XPS8700 running Windows8... Windows has not seen the 2nd internal HARD drive.  I could see the 2nd HDD wooden (like this poster)... but not in Windows.  He did not appear in the 'Computer', the Manager of devices or disk management.

Read this Posters comment, I really thought I had a XPS8700 with a bad motherboard since the poster wrote the 2nd XPS8700, he got... its added reader has been detected by Windows... However, in my case... it was not the result.

I contacted Dell and arrangements were made to have a technology specialist call me.  I explained what I did to include moving the DVD installed Dell, which has been seen by Win8... from motherboard Port 1 to Port 2 (where I had connected the 2 internal)... and Windows does not see the DVD drive.  He confirmed that he would be the Port of the motherboard.  In settings Dell prior WOOD under Win7... you had to get into WOOD and turn on each SATA motherboard and OFF connections... I could not find in the WOOD of XPS8700.

The final document; the Dell specialist had me go back into the WOODS... had me click each tab in the WOODS... it was obvious that he was looking for a framework he hoped that should correct the problem.  Tab START of WOODS, he had me stressed "Secure Boot"... which was displayed as ACTIVE, click ENTER and change for disabled in the Popup window, use exit F10 WOOD and SAVE the settings.

XPS8700 seemed to take a long time to start for Win8... it just seemed slow, I thought that now things are really foires... I can't even start to Win8.  But when she took what seemed like forever, nothing better than just watching a blank screen, when it finally starts screen Win8 tiles and I opened the 2nd HHD 'Computer', I installed was displayed and I managed to get it... write to her...

From what I have studied the COURSE wood is set to "ENABLED"... and it blocks Ports to the motherboard, so that if another device is connected that has an operating system installed the PC will not see it.  If this is true, why wouldn't not Dell communicate this?  Better yet, how many users would connect another device with a BONE... why not the XPS8700 of ship with the SECURITY setting set to DISBALED?  How many people encounter this same problem said their mother was bad... and Dell paid to replace them, worse still, returned their XPS8700...?

I will add, it took a few reboots after that setting has been changed to DISABLED before my XPS8700 started upward and as quickly as he did before the change in closing...

A mere 3 second difficulty... to a very complicated problem... Hope this helps the other faced with this question

The P2217 has the following ports = VGA/HDMI/DP video

Here is a picture of a 8700 XPS standard.

Do you see ports such as 11/12/13 on your 8700 XPS? If so, an added discreet video card has your XPS 8700. This is where the P2217 must be connected.

  • Upgrade of Ram card mother 8700 XPS

I bought the regular version of the 8700 XPS that came with 8 GB of ram not the 8700 XPS Special Edition.

I got contradictory information service to Dell customers on the amount of ram, the card mother the regular XPS 8700 supports. When I bought, but have read on the forum that it is only 16 GB, I said 32 GB of Dell.

Can someone confirm please the amount of ram, the card mother the regular XPS 8700 can handle? Please, I beg you.

    Hi chrisyackulic,

Dell XPS 8700 has 4 x 240 pin slots DDR3L/DDR3 SDRAM supporting the Dual Channel DDR3L SDRAM up to 1600 MHz. The XPS 8700 supports a maximum of 32 GB of system memory. If you install DDR3L, all other modules should be DDR3L (1.5 V) only.

  • 8700 XPS with 460w, will this work?

    Hello

I have an 8700 XPS with 4790 I7, 8 GB ram and 1 GB of hard drive.

Recently I added a few additional things: 2.5 two hard drives, a Blu - ray burner and a MSI GeForce 960 4 GB.

My question is, will the power 460w HANDLE all these components or is it better to buy a new power supply? If it's too it would make a difference to just delete the DVDRW and keep the Blu - ray burner?

I am interested I will ruin the computer, but don't know if I know how to install a new power supply.

    Thanks for your help!

I have an 8700 XPS with 4790 I7, 8 GB ram and 1 GB of hard drive.

Recently I added a few additional things: 2.5 two hard drives, a Blu - ray burner and a MSI GeForce 960 4 GB.

    I think you'll be fine.

The PSU is the same model in the 8700, and who had a 660 optional GTX which has similar power to draw on the 960.

Memory, a Blu - Ray player burned a disc is about 30 watts vs a burning a DVD - RW disc is 25W, otherwise, 1 to 3 watts in mode standby, 5 - 10W reading.

3.5 "hard drives use more voltage 2.5" and most of that is when you start, but probably not more than 10W for a recent SATA vintage at the start and a few watts running.

Draw draw max graphics card will be when the games or stress test and most people are not of game and burning optical discs at the same time once again, I think you'll be fine.

  • Weird noise of 8700 XPS

I noticed a weird noise with my new 8700 XPS. It is difficult to explain what it looks like so I did a short record of the noise. You can listen to it here http://picosong.com/YQgV/ and it happens at the level of the 2 second mark in audio recording.

The noise happens every 15 to 30 seconds and other times it will happen not for 3-5 minutes.

Here are the specs of the computer if that helps.

Dell XPS 8700, Intel Core i7-4770 3.4 ghz, Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, Sandisk Extreme II 240 GB SSD for the OS and programs, 1 TB HDD, ram 24 GB (8 GB of Dell and 16 GB of Crucial)

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

It is the sound of the HDD heads parking. If you have a Seagate drive isn't what it is for sure, Seagate is infamous for having readers that anchor their heads noisily. My Seagate Momentus 7200.4 in my XPS L502X does this noise all the time.

  • Impossible to 'Reboot' Windows 10 after BIOS A11 on 8700 XPS

I am running Windows 10 on my XPS 8700, and everything was going fine until I updated the BIOS of the A10 A11 such as recommended.  Now, I can restart is no longer Windows System. If I do, the release of Windows and the system hangs just at the Dell logo. I then have to force the system to turn off and turn back on again. Is it possible to downgrade a BIOS Dell to A10? Dell test it before viewing them online and recommend the update?

Try turning course starts OFF.  Then start.

If it starts and fix turn secure startup after you restart with her at least 3 times.

  • Blank PDFs in MS of ancient versions and vice versa.

I am a trainer for a real estate brokerage and we have strange problems. Since the last update of files PDF Adobe Reader (DC) do not work properly. Some agents (outside our brokerage house) have not updated for DC and create earlier versions of PDF files. Some of our agents use software has been updated, so we had to update DC so that it works correctly, but when we have a PDF to the agents who don't have not updated the PDF file now looks empty. So when we send a PDF that has been done in DC to other agents, they see an empty PDF. I have tested it and found that the file PDF is editable, and the information entered, but it seems to be hidden or something. I had to click on the field to display the info, but when I clicked off he would go again. If I clicked on it and cut and stuck to it seemed to stay. We need a patch that corrects these problems, former PDF files must still work in the new version and new versions PDF files should be visible from the old versions of the player. People are slow to get up to speed and to adopt the new versions, but with real estate contracted it is no reason to see the empty PDF files. The needs of Adobe Reader DC unless you have the ability to flatten a PDF file so it cannot display data.

Looks like that the form was filled preview of Apple, not Acrobat Reader.

With Adobe Acrobat, you can export and import the data into a new blank form.
