Speed up the old iPad

My iPad is about 3 years and running slow.  Is there maintenance tasks easy to accelerate this back and get more life out of it?  FWIW, I'm about to capacity up to 3/4.  I have a lot of stored photos of the sync'ing regular.  Thank you!

Here's my own variation on the normal restore procedure who worked, successfully, for some users of iPad 2/3, so far!

I did and my iPad 2 and 3 are working like new, 'out of the box' units!

First, connect your iPad to USB and sync and backup your iPad to iTunes (make sure that your iTunes is up to date).

Then disconnect/eject your iPad to the computer.

Since the iPad, in the application settings under the general framework, look in the right column for the reset option, choose the content clear all to clear and reset your iPad at the plant, "in the box" configuration.

Again, to the iPad, set up as a new iPad and follow all instructions.

Then reconnect your iPad to the computer and do not forget to cancel synchronization, display by pressing the little X to the left in the iTunes top center.

iTunes should detect your iPad. If iTunes begins to try and synchronize, even once, cancel synchronization.

Then select restore backup instead and choose your last backup in order to restore on your iPad.

Once the restore is complete, complete the set up of the iPad and let it sync to iTunes, you can cancel the synchronization again or let it back up, once again.

Then remove the iPad.

Do a hard reset of your iPad by pressing Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to the dark and restarts with the Apple logo and then release the buttons.

Once your iPad is back at the home screen,

In the application settings tab general, right under the spotlight sesrch, try disable the search under the applications who really don't need a research, as some games, remote controls, apps that are really useless to be searched, etc., in order to reduce the list to Spotlight search.

Try to turn the reduced movement.

This is found in the application of settings in the general tab, in the left panel.

In the right panel, look under accessibility, look to reduce the Motion and turn this feature "On".

You should see a significant performance increase on all models of iPad 2, 3 and 4.

In the application settings under the general tab, in the right column, search background App update and enable this setting to "off".

If you have purchased any music from iTunes, you will need to re-download this content back to your iPad to play directly from your iPad and no music from Apple servers.

Also, if your iPad contained many pictures in the Photos app, these will take time to regenerate the original AND thumbnails themselves inside the Photos app when you start everything first.

Good luck!

I got a new iPad. I have already backed up my old iPad to iTunes and wanted to put in place the new iPad to restore this backup data. • 4013 error keeps popping up when you try to restore the old iPad

I was going to give old iPad (3rd generation, 64 GB Wi - Fi cell =) of my friends to my niece and follow all instructions on this link https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201351.  But it turns out, she could not even get sound or use. He continued in this vicious circle of turn the page of "Hello", asking for language, country, network, etc.  Then screen would say impossible to activate.  So I forced to restart, log apple appeared, then the black screen that showed 'connect cable to iTunes' appeared.  So I plugged into my Mac.  My Macbook is new <6 months="" old="" with="" el="" capitan="" os="" x,="" itunes="" is="" also="" updated.="" then="" followed="" these="" instructions="" on=""> https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201412 (I did point #3). This old iPad, of course, was the Apple Care warranty.  I'm surprised to find that many people have this same problem and no announcement of a recall on these things.  I have the original iPad (first generation), and thank God it is still in working condition, used by another niece of 2 years.  And the irony is this 3rd generation, there are problems.  Y at - it hope that it can be corrected.  I paid top dollar for this piece of technology, I bought every model of iPad and iPhone, same macbook air/pro, macbook, there is.  And is the one who gave me the biggest problem, it seems a waste of money. • Reset an old iPad increases its speed?  NOT SOLVED!

My husband has replaced its old iPad 2 / 16 gb for a new iPad Air 2 / 64 gb. I would like to take his old iPad and strictly use for my memory-hogging games like Bash Bingo, secret society, The Room, etc. If I do a full reset, it will give me enough speed for these games? The main reason to replace the old with the new, is that the old one got painfully slow.

Also... the old iPad is running on OS 8.1.  If I do a total given, will be I have to install OS 9 or can I keep 8 OS?

    Thanks in advance!

  • How to set up my old iPad with the content of my husband's iPad

I give my husband my old ipad to replace its older iPad. I have reset my old iPad to factory settings and then save the sound an old man to iTunes on my MacBook and then synchronize my old iPad than upward?

You, in fact, start with settings > general > reset > erase all content and settings on the old iPad you disclose.  (Before doing this, make sure that the iPad has been removed to find my (iPad), if it has been implemented.  Also, make sure that you have made the settings > general > software update, then it executes the current iOS version.)

I hope that your husband (one being replaced) old iPad has already been saved or to iTunes on his computer (with his account, not yours) or iCloud (using his Apple ID, not yours).  Simply restore his 'new' iPad using this backup.  If the backup is to his iTunes account, make sure it is the latest version of iTunes (12.4).

  • Transfer old iPad new iPad, but with the new account.

I have a MacBook and an iPad 2, but actually the iPad is my wife, using my Apple for Apps etc ID. It syncs with my MacBook.

We will buy a new iPad which belong to him completely, with its own (new) Apple ID I will then use the old iPad.

How to transfer ALL of the former (who is using my Apple ID) to the new (which will use the Apple of the wife ID)?

If you use another Apple ID you should just start fresh. Choose "set up as new" when you set up. If you mean content itunes or more by 'everything' then that won't transfer via. This content is related to the Apple which bought ID.

If you talk about the General data (photos, documents, etc.) then you can sync on the new device when you set up.

  • I use an ipad to a friend not locked... I have myself a code and a apple ID... It works well, now afete upgrade to the latest os blocked .i and wonder the old apple... what to do ID. ?

I use an ipad to a friend not locked... I have myself a code and a apple ID... It works well, now aferupgrading in the last os blocked .i and wonder the old apple... what to do ID. ?

    Hello

You describe Activation Lock, which prevents the unauthorized use of the iPad if it's lost or stolen.

This can be disabled by the person who helped him either entering their Apple ID and password of the device or to remove the iPad from their list of devices to find my iPhone via iCloud.com.

If the friend who sold or gave the iPad for you is the original owner and who has activated locking Activation, they can try to recover their Apple ID information and forgotten password if they have forgotten one or both of them:

If they cannot recover this information (and therefore can't follow the steps described above), but they still have their proof of purchase as the original owner of the iPad, ask them to accompany you and the device to a Genius Bar appointment, where Apple may be able to help by removing the lock.

If you can not organize or any of these measures, then you will not be able to use the iPad. There is no way around this security feature.
