  • By default, Firefox spellchecker bad language

I've read many threads of the forum on this subject, but none of them solved my problem.
The spellchecker of Firefox highlights almost every word I type - I discovered that its spellchecker language is set to French.
So, in the options, I deleted all the dictionaries as English. The problem persisted.
I think the problem might be that I lived in France when I originally installed Firefox - even if I chose the version English and my computer is in English. I am now back in the United Kingdom. I downloaded the English UK version and installed as an update. That did not work.
I also completely uninstalled the app (I thought), restarted the computer and reinstalled the English version - but when I opened it, all my favorites etc were exactly as before and the problem persists.
Anyone offer a solution? I really need the spell check function and I really want to come back to Chrome...
    I use Firefox 41.0 on a Windows 7 laptop.
    Thanks in advance.

Hello again. My problem is solved! I found that I could right-click on email gmail window and select the language here - it was fixed in French rather than English. So now, everything seems to work very well. Thanks a lot for your help.

  • How can I get American English spellchecker working when my location is Canada?

I have recently come back Canada formula States. After my place in the Canada, I found that I had lost access to US-spellchecker (which I still need).  I looked at various system preferences and have not yet seen how to get back the Canadian spelling corrector. Any suggestions?

System Preferences > keyboard > tab text > spelling > click the menu drop down > implement (bottom)

Select the checkboxes Americans and English Canadians and all the other languages you need.

Now, you can check the spelling in several languages and dictionaries.

  • Spellcheck language set by DEFAULT

Running 13.04 Ubuntu, firefox can only highlight each word red whenever I type in a text box, because the superior to RIGHTCLICK entry > > LANGUAGES is "French". The other read, in order, "French (Belgium)', 'English (United Kingdom)', 'French (Luxembourg)', 'English (United States)', 'French (Switzerland)", "French (France)", "English (South Africa)," "French (Canada)", "Persian", "Persian (Iran)", "English (Australia). Now, I do not deny that I can went on a fine madness long after discovering the spelling check of the new languages. Whatever it is, I want to be rid of all but "English (United States)", "Persian (Iran)" and "French (France)", in that order, with "English (United States)" as a default.

Unfortunately, the first ("French") option is the default value, which means that each textbox I go, no matter what I chose in the previous text box, the language of the spell checker is reset to French. There is no firefox addons that suggests a change of language, other than maybe Ubuntu Firefox changes, integration Ubuntu unity Desktop Integration online, accounts or Web sites of the unit as I understand would change the language of the spell checker by default, these plugins or languages. Subject: Watch spellchecker.dictionary like en_US config set by user and EDIT > > PREFERENCES > > CONTENT > > present LANGUAGES, "in order of preference", in the us, FR, fa and ar; Although I don't think that the latter is related to my problem, since Web pages in the correct language; It's just the spell check.

Hello helasraizam, it should be possible to delete some installed spellchecker Ceres of topic: addons under "dictionaries".

I do not know how to influence the order of the remaining entries however & would have recommended setting spellchecker.dictionary manually. If this did not help, but you can also erase the part "site preferences" in your history, since the preferred spell checker language can be stored on a site-by-site basis: remove the navigation, search and download history on Firefox

  • problems with the built-in spellchecker to ff 23

I find and have checked through these forums, that the text boxes on web sites that are a single line are ignored by the spell checker. I'm working on a Web site, no I don't administer it, which has an input field which is a single line. This field is the only one I have problems with because it does not check the spelling. Anyone know of a way to adjust or replace the spellchecker, so he'll see this area as well. Thanks in advance.

Have you attempted to set the pref 2?

That should give you a checkbox "Check spelling" and a menu of languages in the context menu for a single line entry field.

  • Crazy SpellCheck

Spellchecker is stressing nearly every word, correctly spelled or misspelled. I can disable completel; There? What can I do? Really boring...

I guess that the spell checker is crazy because the incorrect dictionary has been selected. To select Law Dictionary:

    1. Right-click on a text box and open the submenu language .
    2. Make sure the dictionary required (in English) has a tick mark against it.

If this is not enough and you really want to disable completely spell, see these instructions: How to use the spellchecker of Firefox?.

  • I downloaded the (US) dictionary and spellchecker - it's showing in my modules - but it does NOT work - WHY?

I added the English spelling corrector of the United States (US) 5.0.1 - it is in my modules, spellchecker is checked in tools/options - and I restarted firefox after it said 'successful' - However, it still does not work.
Is there anything else I need to do?
    Help, please!
    TY

TY so much... it works now. I see what I was doing wrong. I would right click, but not on the misspelled word and the area to correct the spelling & "add to Dictionary" did not come upward. After reading your response and clicking on the link, I decided to try by clicking right on misspelled word... YEAAAAAAAAAAA!
Yet once, so I appreciate your prompt response & look forward to transversing again in the future.
    Have a nice day (night)

  • The spellchecker is built based on firefox

When Firefox is downloaded the spellchecker automatically comes with it? It is built in the Firefox browser?

Firefox has a built-in spell since Firefox 2.0 inline

I do not have a dictionary installed and selected according to the language in the menu in order to make it work. As said that the NOF comes with a even though I think that en is also. Others not for reasons of license.

  • Use of spellcheck in OSX with several languages?

    Hello

I often need to write emails in French with English technical words and it seems that the spellcheck in OSX do not understand that a document can contain both languages.

Therefore, the words French or English are highlighted in red, and it's not pretty.

I tried the trick how Firefox to check spelling in several languages simultaneously? This is to merge several .aff and .dic files downloaded from TitoBouzout/dictionaries , but the grammar checking is less accurate than the default OSX one.

Does anyone know to use spell check in a multilingual document?

    Thank you

    Son.

As far as I KNOW, the system preferences > keyboard > text select 'set-up '. "in the drop down menu the spelling. Select the desired languages. Then set "automatic language.

Of course, it works only with applications that use the parameters of OSX. Firefox does not work for example.

1: OE 6 doesn't come with it's own spellcheck. You need to Word or MS Office program, before 2007. The spell checker in Works 4 to 6 will work with OE, but not other editions. If you do not have such a program, you can download a free spell check to one of these sites.
