    Hello Lonny Jones,

Let's start by downloading the latest drivers and software from HP and see if that helps.

When you install the drivers, it is important to perform the following actions:

    1. remove the printer from the PC.

2 uninstall the printer from the PC driver.

    3 reinstall the printer driver.

    4 reinstall the printer.

  • Spooler subsystem app stopped working, was closed due to the DEP. How can I restart it.

How can I restart Spooler subsystem. Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

If you mean the Spooler Service, go to start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services and scroll to spooler and make sure that it is set to automatic (put it in auto mode if it is not) and make sure that it is started.  If it is running, stop it and then restart it again.  If it is stopped, start it just.

If you speak another application, to be more specific and provide the name and version of the application as well as the EXACT text message you received (including all codes).  Here is an article on how to enable or disable DEP using programs that can help: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/65790-dep-turn-off-programs.html.

    I hope this helps.

  • Photosmart C4485 Spooler subsystem app

I have a fairly new C4485, only bought last month. So far, I have had no problems at all with it.

But now when I log in there is an error message saying that the Spooler Subsystem App stopped working as was closed. The printer also is no longer recognized as connected.

However, I can still send print jobs, but it will print only a very small amount before stopping.

I went and downloaded the drivers and patches on the site of hp (However, I knew that the pilot was already up to date). But I can not install them in any case, as it says it cannot find the printer and the installation stops.

I use Windows Vista Business 32-bit.

Can someone advise me on how to solve this problem, thank you.

OK, now press Windows + R key to bring up the run window and type 'cmd', make sure that the "run this program as an administrator" is checked and click OK. Now, type the 3 commands below in order.

    net stop spooler
    sc config spooler depend= RPCSS
    net start spooler

Note the space between "=" and "RPCSS". This space is IMPORTANT. Once this is done, close the command prompt window and try printing.

  • ' error spooler subsystem app

How to fix Spooler subsystem errors

How to fix Spooler subsystem errors

Start off by explaining at least the following:

    • The full error messages you get, without paraphrasing
    • What version of Windows you have, including the service pack
    • The circumstances in which you get these errors (i.e., what you try to do)
    • What happens when you restart the computer after receiving such an error
    • The brand and model of your printer

For most print spooler crashes (which may or may not apply to you):

    Clean potentially corrupt print jobs:

Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK) and type the following commands pressing enter in the black command prompt window, after each command

    net stop spooler
del "% windir%\system32\spool\PRINTERS\*.*" [press y when you are prompted.
    net start spooler
    output

Clean and reinstall your printer driver by using the instructions here .  If you have or have had a Lexmark printer, use the directions here instead.

  • Spooler subsystem app has encountered a problem.

HP Laserjet 1020 printer does not work.  Have used this printer for years.  Last print job has stopped the printing process and give the spooler subsystem app has encountered a problem error message.

Used Mr. Fixit.   Have the print spooler service manually restarted and the RPC service. When I try to print, Spooler Subsystem App Error message appears and printer spooler stops,

OS is XP Home Edition Service Pack 3.

Cannot remove hardware HP Laserjet 1020 and reload HP Laserjet 1020 download did not fix problem.

Often, but not always, the symptoms you describe are caused by a corrupt print job stuck in the queue or a damaged printer driver.  However before you clean things up, on general principles, that you can download, install, update and run full scans with each of these two free programs:

    AntiMailware MalwareBytes
    SUPERAntiSpyware

Do not operate the two scans simultaneously.  Each will take a long time, so start it and then go do something else for a while.

    Cleaning of printers

NOTE: If after completing step has the print spooler is not always running after you launched the command "net start spooler", you will not be able to follow all the steps in "First Article".  Use of the special procedure for printers Lexmark described below and follow in its first Article.  If still no joy, use the alternative method that is linked below.

    A. Clean on print jobs pending

    • Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
    • Type the following in the black command prompt window, and then press ENTER after each line

    net stop spooler
    del/q '% windir%\system32\spool\PRINTERS\*.* '.
    net start spooler
    output

    B. clean the old printer drivers and install the latest drivers by using the directions in One Article.

A special procedure for computers that have or had a Lexmark or Dell-badged Lexmark printer.

Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)

Type the following in the black command prompt window and press enter

Note that there is no space before the =

If you want to use a Lexmark or Dell-badged Lexmark printer after having done the above, you will need to reinstall it.

  • Error message Spooler SubSystem App

Hi - my computer has received an automatic update from Microsoft some time this morning and now I get the following message appears and cannot print: "Spooler SubSystem App has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience. "I'm lost as how to solve this problem. Can you help me?

    See how it works:

We are going to stop the Print Spooler Service and delete any backup up/stuck/in waiting it for print jobs and restart the Print Spooler Service.

To clear the print queue, stop the print spooler service and delete all the pending print files.

You cannot delete all print jobs in the queue so that the Print Spooler Service is running.

To stop the Print Spooler Service, click Start, run and enter in the box:

    services.msc

Click OK to open the Services Applet.

Locate the Print Spooler Service, right click and choose 'Properties' and then click on the "Stop" button to stop the Print Spooler Service is running.

The option "Startup Type" of Service properties print spooler is usually set to "Automatic" (which is now a good time to check it out).

If the "Startup type" is not set to "Automatic", set the "Startup type" to "Automatic" If that is your desire (which now is the time to check it out).

Do not try to start or restart the Print Spooler Service again...

Then, delete all updates pending upward and forward to printing from XP.  If they do not print before, you will need to send the to the printer again.

Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the following folder (assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS

Delete all the print jobs in queue (select and delete all the files) in the folder if the folder is without waiting for print jobs.  The folder must be empty when you are finished.

Reboot your system and check the Print Spooler Service again to make sure the Print Spooler Service restarts automatically restart (given that the startup type is set to automatic).

After the reboot, check again the spooler service for printing and the 'Status' column for the print spooler must be read "started."

Submit new failure of print jobs.
