I can't install Microsoft. NET Framework 4.0 because of the error (0xC8000222), so for this reason, I can't install Kaspersky Internet Security 2015, suggestions...

    Hi Ryan,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I understand that you can not install .net Framework 4.0 whereby you are unable to install the Kaspersky Internet Security software and I'll be happy to answer your query. Let me ask you;

    • How you try to install .net Framework 4.0?
    • Are you can install other updates?
    • What is the exact error message that you receive when installing .net Framework 4.0?
    • Is there any previous Internet Security installed on the computer software?

There could be several reasons for not being able to install any program or update including any third-party software conflict, corruption of Windows Installer, Windows updates the corruptions of components etc. Please, try the following methods and check.

Method 1: If you try to install .net Framework through updates, try using the Windows Update Troubleshooter to fix the problem. He makes sure your computer is connected to the Internet and checks to see if your network card and Windows Update services are running properly.

Method 2: Put the computer in a clean boot state and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Place your system in the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: see 'How do I reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting' to reset the computer starts normally after troubleshooting.

Method 3: You can reset the Windows Update components and check the status.

To automatically reset the Windows Components update, run the fixit in the article below. If the Fixit does not work, you can try the manual steps and check.

How to reset the Windows Update components?

Method 4: Fix the .NET Framework

Download the Microsoft .NET Framework repair tool to repair the following versions of the .NET Framework, and then reinstall the update of the .NET Framework.

Method 5: Uninstall and reinstall the .NET Framework

To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Discover the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool User Guide.
    2. Download the .NET Framework cleanup tool.
    3. When you are prompted, click Open, and then click retrieve now.
    4. In which you extracted the files, double-click cleanup_tool.exe.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, provide the password, and then click continue.
  • In the Do you want to run the .NET Framework Setup Cleanup Utility? message, click Yes.
  • Click Yes to accept the license agreement.
  • In the window cleaning product , click the list, select .NET Framework - all Versionsand then click clean up now.
Note the cleaning tool does not remove the .NET Framework 2.0 in Windows Vista or later versions of Windows because the .NET Framework is installed as a component of the operating system.
  • After the .NET Framework is removed, restart the computer.
  • Download and install the following components:
  • The .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (this will also install the .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 and the .NET Framework 3.0 SP2)

  • Restart the computer.
  • Visit Windows Update again, and then review and install the updates.
  • Try to reinstall the update of the .NET Framework.
  • Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • NET Framework Update KB2804577 watch in my list of programs, but also continuous appears in Microsoft Update as downloaded and waiting to be installed.

The update a few months ago... Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 (KB2804577), continues to appear in my list of installed updates. But according to updates from Microsoft, it is downloaded and ready to be installed. He also appeared in my sandbox with automatic updates as ready to be installed. He also continues to appear when I shut down my computer. Any number of times when I tried to leave my computer to install this update when I close down, by means of Microsoft Updates and automatic update. It will simply not go away! Since it puts in my list of programs updated, is it updated? If so, why he continues to show needing to be installed? I run Windows XP. IE8.

Sorry, it took so long to answer. To answer your questions, no he didn't is not updated and that's why he continues to show. This is a common problem with updates of the .NET Framework.

    Follow these steps:

Download it manually here. Click on download and choose NDP20SP2-KB2804577 - x 86 .exe. Install it and then visit Windows Update and check if it shows as a high priority. If it isn't there, you should no longer be disturbed by it.

If it's still there, follow these steps:

Uninstall .NET Framework 2.0 from Add / Remove programs.
Then download the .NET Framework cleanup tool , unzip it, run it, and in the drop-down list box, select 2.0 and clean.
    Reinstall .NET Framework 2.0
Visit Windows Update or Microsoft Update and let it install the rest of the 2.0 updates, including KB2804577.

Check if they install and report.

  • NET framework 4.0 does not install

I used the cleanup utility net dot to remove older versions of the dot net framwork, but will not remove the dot net 4.0 exe so it doesn't even start the installation process.  TIA

    Hello somebodysomewhere,

I would try to see if you can install mode without failure.
    To access Safe Mode:
    (a) restart your computer and start pressing F8 on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured to start to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
    (b) select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and press ENTER.
    (c) when the boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start, and then press ENTER.

Then try to run the .NET Framework 4 that you have already downloaded.

Please answer back with an update and let us know.

    Thank you

  • Instructions for the removal and reinstallation of .NET Framework on windows xp 32-bit

I need full instructions with links of web page to remove all versions of net and then put it back.  I have a copy of an e-mail that has it all, but I don't know how to get my copy in a document where I can use the web links.

You must may (or may not) .NET Framework 1.1.

    Of http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2009/04/20/9557946.aspx

Most of the applications that have been created for the .NET Framework 1.0 or 1.1 will automatically use the .NET Framework 2.0 instead if it is installed on the system.  In most cases, this means that you do not need to keep the .NET Framework 1.0 or 1.1 is installed on your system if you have already installed .NET Framework 2.0.

However, there are some applications that are configured to require a specific version of the .NET Framework, even if later versions of the .NET Framework installed.  If you have any application like this on your system and try to run without having to install the .NET Framework 1.0 or 1.1, you will get an error message that resembles the following:

    ---------------------------
MyApplication.exe - .NET Framework initialization error
    ---------------------------
To run this application, you first must install one of the following versions of the .NET Framework:
    v1.1.4322
Contact your application Publisher for instructions about obtaining the appropriate version of the .NET Framework.
    ---------------------------
    Ok
    ---------------------------

In the above error message, the version number will be v1.0.3705 if you install the .NET Framework 1.0, and it will be v1.1.4322 if you need to install .NET Framework 1.1.

If you end up seeing error messages like this one, you can re - install the .NET Framework 1.0 or 1.1 in order to fix the errors.  If you end up seeing errors like this, then you don't need to worry about re - install the .NET Framework 1.0 or 1.1.
