SQL Developer 1.5 and JDK 1.6_Update 10 - no connections tab and Assistant DB

Hello

PLS HELP!

I installed the JDK u10 and SQL Developer 1.5 (latest version available from Oracle) on my PC Windows Vista Sp1 (with Oracle 10 g Instant Client).

When I start SQL Developer, nothing happens,

I can't create a new SQL file, or a new SQL connection nor can I change the db settings in the Preferences dialog box.
When I click on the entrance to the menu Tools/SQL worksheet, I get the following error:

Hi sklaffke,
Yes, I found a solution, I posted it in another thread.

The only thing I did was to change the locale and language for the Americans and the British, it worked. Try and let me know.

  • How to add data to the table changed in sql developer at Apex and vice versa

    Hello

I had tables of database with sql developer. But now, I have modified the database (new tables added + changed the data in the tables). However, in the Apex, I the old database. Is it possible to get the new Apex database with the data of the table changed so this database in both places (sql and apex developer) is exactly the same... Also the other way around.

The database schema that contains the tables, is it associated with the workspace even you are searching through the APEX product t development?  Why I'm asking is, if they are the same schema, the tables that you MODIFIED should be appear in the sql for APEX workshop part.  Now reports and forms will NOT see the changes (unless you have actually added or updated definitions for column).

Can you explain what exactly you were doing the SQL Developer to the tables in your schema?

  • Bug: Details of body inaccurate package SQL Developer 4.0 and 4.1

I went through the trouble to recompile the schema SYS with native = PLSQL_CODE_TYPE and PLSQL_OPTIMIZE_LEVEL = 3. I found that it was unwise to change the PLSQL_OPTIMIZE_LEVEL for package under SYS specifications, so I left them alone. When I query the view of ALL_PLSQL_OBJECT_SETTINGS, it shows me that my Package body are properly compiled at level 3 and the specs are still 2. However when I look at the Details tab in SQL Developer 4.0 or 4.1 last Early Adopter, it shows the it is PLSQL_OPTIMIZE_LEVEL = 2. I did a test for the PLSQL_CODE_TYPE and the details of body in SQL Developer also follow the specification and not true values. I used the sub query to verify the real compile settings.

    SELECT owner,
           name,
           type,

  • How and why I get lowered note version 4.1 to 3.2 SQL Developer?

First of all, I must say that I am a newbie.  I know a little SQL to use it on my own over the years to build queries and reports outside the overview of the it Department.  I'm at halfway through the first book Fundamentals SQL for Oracle Database 12 c Certification in the end.

A week ago when I started this journey, I downloaded Oracle 12 c and later SQL Developer 4.1 and was using SQL Developer 4.1 successfully.  But when I tried to follow the examples of OE and HR in the book of preparation review making simple queries, I had to download the "examples of database" oracle.com/downloads.  I downloaded the zip and run the setup.exe file.  Now, I'm going to open the same exact shortcut, which I had used for SQL Developer 4.1 and it now opens instead of the SQL Developer 3.2!  Why the hell should I suddenly have SQL Developer 3.2 an older version? Has anyone else got a happen to them?  Do you know why it happened to me?  And above all, it won't hurt anything if I returned to oracle.com/downloads and re - download SQL Developer 4.1 the latest version?  Or do I somehow the old version of the SQL Developer to use the HR and OE schemas, tables, and data?

Thanks for any idea you may have in this weird situation.

    Heather

You can install as many versions of SQL Developer you want, simply unpack each in its own empty directory.

"Examples of database" download & install must have diverted your shortcut.  Probably version 4.1 is still installed and you just create a new shortcut.  Better yet, 2 shortcuts: one for version 3.2 and one for version 4.1, as in the names of shortcut 'SQLDev32' and 'SQLDev41 '.

Edit: Using 3.2 for the examples in the book preparation will be easier because the SQL Developer can change from one version to another and no longer exactly correspond with them.

What is a database of the container

So, what is the big advantage in this configuration, you may ask? Couldn't we have just created several ordinary vanilla instead of several PDB databases? Yes, we could have; but each of these 'plain vanilla' databases would have then his own load of instance (process and memory). PDB do not have an instance associated with them, eliminating this overload. Let's look at the installer with an example. Suppose you have a CBD (database container - the real database that hosts the other PDB files) called CONA, who has a calledPDB1 of the PDB. If you check the Oracle instance, you will see that there is one - that of the CBD. First, let's check the ORACLE_SID:

    [oracle@prosrv1 ~]$ echo $ORACLE_SID CONA

That's all. There is only a single SID; not one for each PDB. Then we will check the process, especially very important that known as 'pmon ":

See this last sentence above? See this line in the status of listening port you have posted?

    Service "Pdb1" has 1 instance (s).

Pdb1 has a 'service' - a SERVICE_NAME allows to connect to him and all other PDB files.

  • SQL Developer, wrong file name registration

    Hello

I use generation SQL Developer 4.0.2.15 15.21 on Windows7 Enterprise 64-bit. Recently, I found that when I save the contents of the pane out of the Script (by clicking on the floppy disk icon) and use the select a file to replace dialog box, SQL Developer is overwhelming in fact another file in the same directory.

I already tried to restart SQL Developer, restart Windows and rename the properties - preferences.xml to force SQL Developer for the re - create (in case it has been altered in some way), but I still see the same behavior.

My current workaround is to manually type the name of the existing file in the dialog "Save" to save a new copy.

    Hi Martin,

SQL Developer web pages do have these links, but they appear broken:

1 http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/overview/index.html--puis select the Downloads tab
2 scroll down to the section of the news archive at the bottom, and then select the 3.0.04.34 that brings you here...

    4. If you want to 3.0.04.34, download still works.
    5. or scroll down to the download section of the inside archived versions. All of these links seem to be broken.

I have ping product management on this subject, but if you want a copy quickly you may be forced to look at sharing sites like mediafire or 4shared. You can do a Google search and certainly get results.

  • Readability of SQL Developer Editor

I just spent in SQL Developer of Toad and I found some problems with the editor that make it unreadable.

The first problem is that fonts appear blockier and heavier. Toad and SQL Developer I use Consolas with size 12. I tried to turn on/off the "enable text anti-aliasing" and they are both bad. The question would be that developer SQL does not use clear fonts of the window? If so can it be fixed?
