=================================

Suppose you have the following in your tnsnames.ora:

Larry =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = myhost) (PORT = 1521))
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = curley)
)
)

Now, when you issue a connect, say like this:

$> sqlplus scott/tiger@larry

TNS will appear in your tnsnames.ora for an entry called "larry". Then, tns sends a request to (PORT = 1521) on (HOST = myhost) to aid (PROTOCOL = TCP), requesting a connection to (SERVICE_NAME = curley).

Where's (HOST = myhost) on the network? When the request is passed to tns to the next layer in the network stack, the name "myhost" resolves to an IP address, either via a file 'hosts' local, through DNS, or possibly other mechanisms being used less. Alternatively, you can hard-code the IP (HOST = 123.456.789.101) in the tnsnames.ora.

Then, the request arrives at port 1521 myhost. If all goes well, there is a listener on myhost configured to listen on port 1521, and this listener knows SERVICE_NAME = curley. If so, you'll be connected.

A few important points.

First, the listener is a process only the side server. It's all in life seeks applications for reception for connections to the databases and set up these connections. Once the connection is established, the listener is out of the picture. It creates the connection. It does not support the connection. A listener, linking an oracle of the House, listening on a single port, use multiple instances of database in several versions of several houses. It is unnecessary complexity to try to have several headphones. It's like the telephone company, to build a separate table for each customer.

Secondly, the tnsnames.ora file is a client-side problem. Its purpose is to address resolution - the equivalent of the 'hosts' file tns further to the bottom of the network stack. The only reason it exists on a host computer is because this machine also can run client processes.

What can go wrong?

First, there may not be an entry for 'larry' in your tnsnames file. In this case, you get "ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified" no need to go looking for a problem on the host, with the listener, etc.. If you cannot place a phone call because you do not know the number (cannot find your phonebook (tnsnames.ora) or can not find the party looking for listed in it (no entry for larry)) you don't look at problems at the switchboard.

Perhaps the entry for larry was found, but myhost could not be resolved to an IP address (for example there is no entry for myhost in the local hosts file). This will mean by "ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist.

Maybe there is an entry for MyServer in the local hosts file, but it specified a bad IP address. This will mean by "ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist.

Maybe the INVESTIGATION period was good, but there is no listener running: "ORA-12541: TNS:no listener.

Maybe the INVESTIGATION period was good, there is a listener to myhost, but he is listening on a different port. "ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error.

Maybe the INVESTIGATION period was good, there is a listener to myhost, listening on the specified port, it's unknown SERVICE_NAME = curley. "ORA-12514: TNS:listener is not currently of service requested in connect descriptor.

    Hello

    Maybe this can help.

Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.

Homegroup = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.

Network of home or work = fundamentally similar (and better) to the previous Working Group sharing methods which allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.

    Public share
= network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks.

To get best results connect to each computer system screen and set all the computers to be on a bearing the same name of Working Group , while each computer has its own unique name.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_name.jpg

Make sure that the software firewall, AV, or other security components allow free local traffic on all network computers. If you use the 3rd group of security, firewall native Vista/XP must be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted
Please Note that some 3rd party software firewall/AV/security costumes continue to block aspects of the Local traffic even it they are off (off).
If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic.

If you end up with the 3rd party software uninstalled or disabled, make sure that Windows native firewall is active .

    -----------------

Network Win 7 with another version of Windows as a work network (works very well if all computers are Win 7 also).

In the center of the network, by clicking on the type of network opens the window to the right.

Choose your network type. Note the check box at the bottom and check/uncheck depending on your needs.

When you have finished the configuration of the system, it is recommended to restart everything the router and all computers involved.

    -------------

If you have permission and security issues with Vista/Win7, check the following settings.

Point to a folder that wants to share do right click and choose Properties.

    In the properties

Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.

This screen shot is to Win 7, Vista menus are similar.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/permission-security.jpg

The Security Panel and the authorization Panel, you need to highlight each user/group and consider that the authorization controls are verified correctly.

When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).

    * Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.

    * Note . All the users who are allowed to share need to have an account onall computers that they are allowed to connect to.

Everyone is an account, that means a group of all users who already have an account now as users. It is available to avoid the need to configure permission for each on its own, it does not mean all those who feel that they would like to connect.

  • Unable to connect via nfs, ftp only

My network has two devices NAs - a NetGear ReadyNAS 102 (2x1To) and an OXFORD (NAs French device, 1x500GB). I'm trying to set up a weekly backup of critical files to the ReadyNAS to the GLOBAL system.

The name of the application's access to the camera more than, unfortunately, the Pixels.

HFG30 not in the taken list supported here. Support says that it is supported. After all, no connection. Can connect via a browser however. Anyone else?

    Hi robbif!

    Thanks for posting.

The application CameraAccess and CameraAccess Plus is not for all our camcorders.  Some newer models, like the G30 HF, are controlled using a web browser based remote connection, instead of using the application.  For more information about this, visit our help wireless page or view the distance travel brochure HERE.

  • Unable to connect via wireless with SSID broadcast disabled

I want to configure my router for my SSID is not broadcast, because I think it's a logical step to take for increased security. I have not been able to do since I started using my new laptop Inspiron 5558. I tried this several times and every time I turn off the SSID broadcast, I am not able to connect to the Wi - Fi on this laptop. Other remote computers in my house and my smartphone connect without problem, but nothing I've tried helps my new computer Dell laptop to connect via Wi - Fi, except for allowing the SSID broadcast.

I have a router Actiontec MI424WR reverend E. I have installed the new driver and the Intel PROset utility and unfortunately nothing has changed. I went to the settings to investigate some of the other solutions offers, and I came across something that seems to have solved my problem. What I found in SETTINGS/network & Internet/change adapter options/Wi-Fi/see the status of my properties of connection/Wireless / on the connection tab, it was an uncontrolled area with the words "connect even if the network is not broadcasting its name (SSID). I checked this box, and since then, I was able to connect to my network wireless with SSID broadcast disabled. I will now call this resolved and if no new problems arise. start a new post. Thanks for sticking with me on this.

  • Unable to connect via radio - impossible to obtain network address

    All,

I had to restore this laptop due to virus problems (my daughter system..).  I have put back it and it works except that I am unable to connect to the wireless network.  It says 'Acquiring Network Address' and goes then to the "Limited or no connectivity."

    Here are the details:

    System:

    Inspiron 1300 - XP Pro SP2

Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN Mini-PCI Card

    Parameters:

o use Windows to configure the verified wireless network

o in Dell Wireless Utility, unchecked "let this tool manage your network."

    o WZC: start & automatic

o TCP/IP: Obtain IP automatically and obtain DNS automatically

    I took action:

o reloaded all drivers available for my service tag, including the pilot for

    the network card

o went through all the Dell relevant troubleshooting steps

o I have a different laptop that connects to the wireless network and I

compared the parameters between the systems of work and non-working - they

seem to be the same (another pc and card)

o the 'bad' system can connect to the network via ethernet cable

The status bar displays the network icon (pc screen) with yellow trinangle and!

and 5 green bars for the network card has an excellent signal with unknown status.

I'm not clear on the question of whether Windows or the utility of the card should be network management; I tried both to no avail.  I'm basically out of options to try and hoping someone can help me.

Please let me know if there are any additional necessary information.

Thank you in advance for your help!

  • SQL * more syntax to connect to Apex 3.1 workspace

How to connect to a particular application of workspace Apex using SQL * MORE?

In the tenth Summit, Sql * more command is: "sqlplus username/password" to connect and connect to the base.

However, at the Apex 3.1 "sqlplus username/password" is no longer the correct syntax to connect and connect to the database is created in the workspace Apex.

I created a table called "Sample" in the workspace Apex. I can run the sql query on the "Sample" in the GUI Apex SQL Workshop table. Type "sample to describe" workspace for SQL workshop gives me the desired result.

However, when I come out to the command prompt and use sqlplus to issue "sample", I get "table or view does not exist.

This has nothing to do with the apex.

I would say, your workspace has several patterns that are entrusted to him. You were probably asking a particular schema and he gave you the correct results. In SQL more trying to describe a table that is not there.

This should give you some results:

    SELECT object_name, object_type
      FROM all_objects
     WHERE owner = 'DKUBICEK';

where you replace "DKUBICEK" with the name of schema, you log into SQL Plus.

To see the schema that you use for SQL Workshop / SQL commands, see the dropdown in the top right corner - schema.
