SR2024C network problems out of Box

Hello

I added 2 switches gigabit SR2024C with miniports (10/100/1000) to my network. I have them in 2 closets separate connected via fiber for miniports. As soon as I connected the switches in my existing network, I lost all connectivity on the network (servers, workstations, and PLCs. I couldn't ping servers or workstations. I could only ping via loopback for testing.

As soon as I disconnected the servers (and waited about a minimum or then everything began to speak again.  I could ping servers, workstations etc.

As a test, I have reintroduced the Sr2024c in the new network and BAM! the same problem. Knocks out the entire network. (And nothing that I plugged in the new switches even further than fiber linking the SR2024 2 then the fiber connecting from my network existing in the SR20204.  Another test I tried was hang each SR2024 separately in the network existing, thinking that perhaps one was bad, but they both were individually doing the same thing.

Someone knows a problem like that?  This stinks... any input would be appreciated...

Thank you

One of the things I would check is to make sure that all switches run the same STP. You should be able to issue the following command on the cisco switches to ensure the good functioning of STP

Switch #: show spanning tree

    Hello

I have two virtual machines with windows xp. On the first, the network is good work but form the other I can't just ping on the host. I tried a large number of parameters, but none worked.

The weird part is that the second virtual machine sends garbage on the network.

There is no firewall on the host, and the virtual machine has the default windows firewall.

Because VMware Workstation 6.5.0 build 118166 does not work with the 2.6.29 kernel, I had to patch files (patch attached).

    Thank you!

To put it simply: VMware Workstation offers three types of networks for the connection of customers (I list the default settings):

    1 VMnet0 or bridged

Using this, you virtual NIC (vNIC) will be attached directly to the physical NETWORK (Teddy) map where the bridge Protocol is bound to. This means that your prompt appears on the same physical network as its own instance with its own IP configuration, as with any other host. Maybe it's something you don't want to not use if you want to hide or secure your guests.

    2 VMnet1 or host only

It is a virtual network where the host and all guests (when the vNIC is configured to be 'host-only') is involved. The NIC host in that network is VMnet1. Through this network, your guests are completely isolated from the outside world, but they are always connected to the host. This isn't what you want as you want to continue to communicate with the outside.

    3 VMnet8 or NAT

It is much the same as VMnet1 but guests can communicate with the outside that this network is linked to each TCP/IP stack on the host computer. Thus, you must use this type of vNIC if you use something other than an ethernet Teddy. Maybe that's what you use. This hides the guests from the outside because the host is located between clients and physical network acts as a proxy and a NAT device.

VMnet1 and VMnet8 are served by the DHCP of VMWare server.

I suggest that bring you things VMware network to the default value. Next, configure the NICs for your guests to NAT. so they communicate with each other and the host through VMnet8. They are not visible or accessible from the outside, but they can communicate in the world.

    Treat your need?

  • ESXi network problem

I have a strange problem of networking with ESXi, my infrastructure is described below:

I'm under vCenter 5.5 on a VCSA (5.5.0 update 2d, Build 2442330). The environment is a mixture of ESXi 5.1 (especially U2) and 5.5U1a. We have 1 primary site with 5 sites all remote connected via GRE VPN tunnels, The VCSA is in the main site, each remote site has at least 1 ESXi server managed by the VCSA. Each remote site has independent internet so for each site, the basic router (which ends the GRE VPN) routes inside networks (essentially 10.0.0.0/8) through the tunnel and has a default route to the local firewall. ESXi boxes that are not configured with the router as the default gateway, none of the custom static routes have been added to ESXi.

Two of my remote sites (a site has two servers ESXi, the other has a site) ESXi servers keep losing contact with vCenter. Nothing else on these networks is never a problem to talk to the main site, including talking to the VCSA. Three servers are different versions of 5.1. Here's what I've done for troubleshooting:

    1. ESXi can ping on virtually any host through the tunnel to the main site with the exception of the VCSA.
    2. I isolated my network management in ESXi to a physical NETWORK card and made a SPAN on the switch port, a capture of packets revealed that when the rattling of the VCSA ESXi put the packet on the wire with a destination MAC of the firewall. For all the other hosts on the main site of subnet ESXi sends the packet with a destination MAC address of the core router. Packet capture on ESXi itself (using tcpdump-uw) shows the same thing.
    3. The ARP tables on all hosts show correct MAC addresses for the router base and the firewall.
    4. Make a "vmkping - I vmk0 - N < core router > < VCSA >" succeeds (destination MAC is correct in this case).
    5. Add a static route to ESXi to the address of the VCSA force it to the top of base does not work, ESXi continues to send the packet to the Mac static routes these firewall have been removed after the failed test of workaround.
    6. Restart the host will solve the problem for a short time.

    Some info:

These three server 1 is an IBM x 3300 M4 using Intel I350 GB network cards, the other two are R620s from Dell. The R620s each have 1 4-port Broadcom BCM5720-1 4 Intel 82580 ports. IPv6 has been disabled on all three hosts. Right now vmk0 is linked to an Intel NETWORK card on three servers, but barely I started to watch it, so I don't know if we saw the problem with vmk0 with a Broadcom.

The Dells are inherited, so we have not done installs it but I reinstalled one of them yesterday (it was 5.1 U2 I reinstalled 5.1 U3) at the request of support for VMware. Support noted that the firmware and drivers were outdated and did not meet the HCL for those who have been updated when I reinstalled.

IBM has been purchased and installed by our care last summer, firmware and drivers correspond to this LIST with the exception of the version of the BIOS that is a future release (it corresponds to the HCL for 5.5).

I have a pension case, SR 15633456803. Initially, they tried to blame the network. Although it is clear to me that this is not a network problem, I put a case of Cisco in any way. Cisco has quickly threw the evidence I had gathered and made the same determination. The only way that this could be a network problem is with ProxyARP. ProxyARP is disabled on my firewalls, ESXi has correct ARP tables and when you talk to anything on the main network, in addition to the VCSA it sends the packet to the MAC address so clearly not a question of ProxyARP. At this point VMware said essentially that they are running out of ideas. I hope my reinstalled host stay online for more than a week, then I'll reinstall the other two hosts and call it a day if all goes well, but I'm preparing for the possibility that may not happen.

We never seen anything like this or have any ideas?

I understand the problem, ESXi does not correctly release the generated ICMP redirects. You can force the issue by restarting the vmk0 interface (or any port of kernel VM is your management interface) VMware KB: Internet control management protocol redirects, because a permanent fix I will disable ICMP redirects on my routers.

  • PE2950 intermittent network problems

Hey guys, I have a PE2950 running Windows 2008 R2. It's a (non-primary) domain controller and I'm having all sorts of problems with replication errors. I also have problems with DNS errors.

When I log on the 2950 and run nslookup ifc.local, sometimes it comes complete with success immediately. Then if I run it again a few seconds later, it expires. I checked the reverse on both servers search areas and have the correct PTR records (it seems) and points NIC of each server to the other server, and then to his self for DNS. There are forwarders in DNS records, but not on the network card. I seem to have no problem with the PDC network (a 1950).

It seems that my network problem is intermittent and can be hardware/driver related, but I'm not sure. One thing I found interesting is that if I try to activate IPV6 on the 2950's NIC, I receive an error message that says I need to install a network card in order to configure TCP/IP, but there is clearly a here and IP4 is set up very well.

IPconfig shows also two cards tunnel I'm not familiar with. Clear that they are not used. I would like to disable some how?

Here are the results of an ipconfig/all and nslookup example. Of course, when I went to this post, I couldn't nslookup to expire, but when he does I have server: UNKNOWN and IP address correct and therefore three lines of time-out.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

  • How to restore my computer toshiba laptop out-of-box state?

A few days ago I received a notification window report a problem with my operating system (although it's practically new) in my laptop Toshiba Satellite 15.6 "3 GB 320 HD. After not being able to open ALL the files in my office (ex: icon workstation), task bar (the ex icon) or even start menu (e.g. Control Panel), I decided to restore my laptop to an earlier configuration, when the problem was not present. At the end of the restore process, I received an error message. I restarted my laptop again and the problem continues (not being able to open the files, applications, or programs). I then decided to restore my laptop with the option of deleting is not my current data. Out of 47 process had to be done, my set up spun without progressing to the #3 / 47 (display of SMA - I think). Although I was warned not to disrrupt the process, I forced my laptop turned off after 30 minutes.

Now, when I try to boot my laptop, I get a message that my computer is preparing for first use; When I get to the 'Welcome' screen, my session runs without procedure. After forcing my laptop off and restart my computer several times, I left my laptop computer spinning during the night and when I woke up, I could choose, "Administrator" or "guest user". When I click on "Administrator", a screen will appear indicating that I don't have permission to enter this environment. When I select "Guest user", I have to enter my username and password. Although I never created a password for this laptop, I'm not allowed to login without password.

I am now trying to restore my computer laptop out-of-box settings, but when I try to hold F8 at startup, I don't have the option to select the recovery settings, as I already did when I tried to restore my laptop to an earlier configuration.

For Toshiba, you press and hold "0" while turning on the computer...

  • Cannot download the software due to a network problem

Hi all I'm on MacBook Pro (retina, 15 inches, end of 2013).
I try to install Windows 10 with the version downloaded from the Microsoft Web site.
I finished uploaded and am trying to use Boot Camp to install Windows 10.
However, I faced a question and it is that he "cannot download the software due to a network problem".
I'm stuck here for an hour and I can't find a solution.
I did all right until now by the following online tutorial but it prevents me to continue.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thank you.

It is a very common problem. To fix this, first try to start your Mac in safe mode by following these steps-> safe mode try if your Mac does not commissioning - Apple Support

Then, restart your Mac as usual and try to download the Windows support software again.

  • Re: Out-of-box recovery

    Hello

I uninstalled the driver Realtek Ethernet controller and then accidentally installed the Realtek Windows all-in-one, but it wouldn't do the same thing as the other.

Then I tried to uninstall, but it wouldn't let me so I tried to make out-of-box recovery. It is said to hold the 0 (zero) and press the power button, if that's what I did and it froze right on the page with the Red "TOSHIBA" on, even though the manual says it should come with a warning page.

I'm not an expert in computers and am very stuck on what to do because I have to use the Ethernet cable, every time I want to connect to the internet.

If anyone can help I would be very grateful. :)

It will be interesting to know what model of laptop do you have and what operating system is preinstalled. I don't know if you have a machine US or European but in s user guides document will describe how to start the installation of HARD drive recovery.

Please send us mobile exact model so that we can try to help you.

This seems to be a Toshiba US series.

Here, I found the manual for this device.
    [Manual satellite A205-S5000 | http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/manuals/userguides/su1931068/SatA200A205_GMAD00130010_07Apr23.pdf]
Here you can find instruction how to recover the device

To recover the disk HARD using the disc utilities stored on HDD monitoring this statement:
-Be sure that the laptop is OFF
-Press and hold the 0 (zero) while turning on the laptop. Then the Toshiba Recovery Wizard should start.
-Then click on recovery of factory default software and press next
-Follow the next steps and the instructions on the screen.

If this does not work, then you will need to order the recovery for US disc series.

  • Outlook Express 6: your server has unexpectedly ended the connection. The potential causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Error number: 0x800ccc0f

Original title: Windows XP and Outlook Express 6

I have a new computer with outlook express and went through the set up instructions.  When I tried to send a test email, I got this error message:

"Your server has terminated suddenly the connection. The possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, secure (SSL): Yes, error number: 0x800CCC0F. »

How can I fix this error message and have e-mail sent via Outlook?

    Hi Jeanette Logan,

Here is an article that addresses this issue. Follow the steps listed in the article for this problem:

  • Wireless network problem: disconnects randomly anywhere between 1 and 4 hours.

I have a wireless network problem, it disconnects randomly anywhere between 1 h and 4 h. The network consists of a Samsung 4 G hotspot and a Linksys AE1000. The signal strength is excellent, the AE1000 is 1 ft of the computer and 1 ft of the HotSpot.  The computer is a Dell Dimension 2400. Any ideas?

    Hi Jack,

Problem solved.  I did 2 assumptions about the original problem.  I assumed that the 2 Tech that I spoke made the hurt their product. Battery saver has been activated on the hotspot.

    Thanks again

    Greg

You must make a few changes, not only on outgoing parameters, your incoming parameters also need changes.

Open your e-mail program > tools > accounts > your bizmail account > properties > servers, under outgoing mail server, check "this server requires authentication" > apply > advanced, under outgoing (SMTP) mail change to 465 not 25. Put a check mark on "this server requires a secure connection (SSL)" > under incoming (POP3) mail, change it to 995 no 110. Put a check mark on "this server requires a secure connection (SSL)" > OK
