  The message is usually due to the Admission HA and reservations control configuration memory set on one or more virtual machines. With the default configuration HA calculates the sizes of slot based on the memory and CPU. Any reserve on a virtual machine could increase the size of the slot and lead to fewer available seats. What you can do is either to reduce (or eliminate) reservations about the VM (s) or set admission control to a percentage rather than the host failures tolerated.

  I created a test failover script that is simple and done insert 1 row every 2 seconds.
  Then we fail the Node1 and check if it will continue to insert on Node2.
  
  My script uses sqlnet client to connect. for example:
  
  connect scott/tiger@TEST
  
  So I still need to install oracle on my laptop client.
  
  I want to create a script that will not need to Oracle customer or tns names.ora in my laptop. How can I do?
  
  I want to behave like what the sqldeveloper wherein no tns name is necessary and uses the parameter: hostame: port: SID

• Test failover network

  I wonder if there is a way to force a virtual computer to a specific network during a test failover?  I use SRM 4.0.1 with NetApp SRA 1.4.3 and a network of testbubble is created during a failover test.  I created a test network and select this network setting up recovery plan when he ask about the test networks.

  Yes, of course, it is possible. The setting is per portgroup / VM, however.

  Change your Recovery Plan. On the "Network Test" screen, you can choose on what portgroup virtual machines will be connected during the recovery test. By default it is set to auto mode, which means that the switch internal is created on the ESX hosts.

  I keep trying with a variety of different settings, the settings that I KNOW work on other systems, but I get the following message is displayed:

  I changed the static DNS domain name in network iDRAC settings...

  The same parameter work perfectly on my other devices on the network.

  Any ideas?

  I found that I needed to add a DNS server for the network properties. In my case, the entry door. I was using an external smtp server and well... you know the rest.

  Hello. I just bought a HP all in one single 8620. I had a Kodak 9250 previously in the space now occupied by the HP. I have just re-connected all cables that they were on the Kodak but I have a condition of line test Fax "fail" is this normal?

  I have DSL service, two sons at & t external modem, two CPUS (one using wireless printing) and phone/answering machine in one device.

  connections are; Crossover ADSL wall jack in a line will printer line 1, then 2 - ext phone/answer.

  A - Ethernet from the modem to the printer, a modem to CPU1, CPU2 a modem.

  Is that what that sounds right?

  I need to test failover.

  I'm looking some procedure or steps.

  Can they be valid?

  On primary

  • change the built-in system again to standby_db_name;
  • alter system archive log current;
  • Stop the shipment of archive: alter system set log_archive_dest_state_2 = "DAVID";

  Standby:

  • ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE CANCEL;
  • ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE FINISH;
  • stop immediately; --> the snapshot can be done at this stage or need to get after 'RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE CANCEL'
  • Make a snapshot of the virtual machine
  • startup nomount
  • ALTER database base_de_donnees eve of Mount;
  • ALTER DATABASE ACTIVATE PHYSICAL STANDBY DATABASE.
  • ALTER DATABASE OPEN;

  Test what finish

  Standby:

  • stop the database
  • restore from snapshot
  • Put the database in recovery mode

  Elementary school:

  • Allow destination of the Journal 2

  Hello Atelier42, this usually indicates that you have a hard disk failure.

  I would like to back up my data as soon as possible, just in case the hard drive breaks down actually.

  You must also make sure that you have the HP Recovery restore set for your system recovery disc in case you do not want to replace the hard drive.

  With this restore HP Recovery disk set, you could replace a defective hard drive and use this disk set to your HP system back as it was when shipped. Then, you could put your data saved on your system.

• Testing failover with VMware vCenter / SRM and SQL on protected volume.

  OK, MRS. works well in test mode, although we would like to test a failover / then backspace over the weekend...

  We run SQL 2012 on a virtual machine as well as vCenter/SRM on another virtual machine, both on the protected volumes.

  If the failover stops all VM, makes a new replication then turns on the virtual machine on the DR site, it would fail because we had SQL and SRM on a protected volume?  I can understand moving protected site vCenter / SRM VM to another volume, but SQL Server is also used for other data bases we want protected.  My guess is that MRS is not smart enough to not stop SQL server last.  What should do?  What is everybody doing?

  You need a RS and SRMDB on both sites. The SRM on the site of DR will manage the entire process and not the vcenter/srm on the production site.

  BTW. a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express (R2 SP1) - 64-bit is supportet to SRMDB. Check partnerweb.vmware.com/.../interop_matrix.php

  I spent the first 3 automated cases: Install::Driver:VIBwithTestKey, Install::Config:Driver Update, Version_Check.

  Now I'm stuck with the case of dissemination because of the error "VM is in an invalid POWER State", but it's ok for me to start the VM manunally.

  2 virtual machines are created and fully automatically started on host by workbench, and two of them are assigned the same name 'vtafVM1_192.168.49.168_4740'.

  I fixed it by name NIC different setting on the host and to the. If I put the test both network adapters on the host and the slot the same name, for example, the two vmnic4, starting the virtual computer fails; If I put one like vmnic4 and the other as vmnic5, the virtual machine starts ok.

  I think it should be a bug in the combination of test IOVP NIC.

• SRM failover failed with RecoveryPoint

  We have table RecoveryPoint SRM installation. We have not had any problems with any configuration. But when we have validated the failover we get the following error at recovery steps.

  -Impossible to synchronize the data on the replica consistency group ' *'. Replication is not active for some reason any in the copy of the group.

  I have attached the report of the history of recovery plan for reference. Maybe someone knows what could cause this problem?

  FOR INFO. In RP consistency group strategy, we put "SRM" and managed by "External Application" (this is what our team of storage done if I had no idea what it means). Also I don't know if this is what the origin of the problem.

  Any help would be really appreciated.

  We opened the case with VMware and finally settled the issue. Issue was not with RP or RS. It comes with the services of ESXi. When trying to download anything from the data in the local client store it throws the error 'Operation timed out' immediately once start us the download. Then we tried restart ESXi services services.sh restart.for guests. Then everything started working so far. This isn't the same problem reported in known issues in MRS.

  My Hp Pavilion dm1, hangs as soon as windows starts. I went the system diagnostics and ran the development of the system, but it failed. Here are the results:

  You need to replace the memory module.

  Try first, remove and replace it.

  If you get the error, buy one with the same characteristics as the bad.

  If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP technical support for a replacement of the faulty memory Strip guarantee.

  Make sure that you remove the battery and disconnect the laptop power adapter before working inside.

• Rescan of HBA during test failover

  With the help of EMC MirrowView SRA, apparently during the failover of the trial that the new analysis of the HBA does not detect taking LUN until the second new analysis (manually made by me). Is there a way to force the SRM of rescan twice as part of the failover/failover test process?  Any help is very appreciated, let me know if you need more information.  Thank you.
