SRM failover failed with RecoveryPoint

Hi people,

We have table RecoveryPoint SRM installation. We have not had any problems with any configuration. But when we have validated the failover we get the following error at recovery steps.

-Impossible to synchronize the data on the replica consistency group ' *'. Replication is not active for some reason any in the copy of the group.

I have attached the report of the history of recovery plan for reference. Maybe someone knows what could cause this problem?

FOR INFO. In RP consistency group strategy, we put "SRM" and managed by "External Application" (this is what our team of storage done if I had no idea what it means). Also I don't know if this is what the origin of the problem.

We opened the case with VMware and finally settled the issue. Issue was not with RP or RS. It comes with the services of ESXi. When trying to download anything from the data in the local client store it throws the error 'Operation timed out' immediately once start us the download. Then we tried restart ESXi services services.sh restart.for guests. Then everything started working so far. This isn't the same problem reported in known issues in MRS.

    I created a Protection Group based at the A Site containing a single VM with a single vmdk disk on an NFS volume.

    The NFS volume is synchronous to the Site-B

    I can perform a migration scheduled to Site B, and then reprotect an another planned migration back to Site A, but then when I try to restore the reprotect again so that I am ready for an another Site-B recovery fails in the first step, configure storage for reverse Direction with " " - Failed to reverse the replication for impossible on the devices. SRA command 'prepareReverseReplication' failed. Peer table provided in the entry MRS. ID is incorrect check the newspapers RS to verify the correct peer array ID. "

    I see nothing on the files or the newspaper of SRM server logs to indicate that it is.

    This occurs for each Protection Group, I create this is not isolated to just this one volume.  I also tried with VMFS iSCSI volumes and get exactly the same results.

    If I create a Protection on the Site-B group I can get back to the Site-A and will not restore to fail to Site-B.

    Initially, I look that the issue I saw is that I could do a backspace, but could not perform a second reprotect because the SnapMirrors were left in the State of evil, but now I see that the problem is that I can't make a reprotect from Site A to Site B.

    I completely uninstalled SRM in both places, removed from the SRM database on both sites and started again but always get the same question.

    I actually IBM N series-N6040 controllers and uses IBM Data ONTAP and SRA. brand got a call open with VMware and IBM but not very far.

    Has anyone seen this problem before and got a solution?

    Now, I've identified what causes this problem and can work around it until there is a fix of NetApp.

    The issue was the name of the file on the recovering Site Server had the same name as the file server on the Site protected with a prefix to the subject, which in my case the recovering Site go was named NSERIES01 and the protection of the Site was DRNSERIES01.  Don't forget that I had already performed a failover and restoration for the protection of the Site was my original recovery Site, so yes give it the site protected for this Protection Group is DRNSERIES01 and the recovering Site has NSERIES01 on this.

    Using the task Reprotect is the first step is to call the SRA with the command prepareReverseReplication, which calls reverseReplication.pl, which is trying to verify the SnapMirror is broken.  It gets the status of all the SnapMirrors run on the recovering Site, which in this case NSERIES01.  It then goes through each of them looking for a match of the local-spin-name section: volume-name of the source of the snapmirror, for example for my test group was trying to match NSERIES01:NFS_VMware_Test, at this stage of the source of the SnapMirror is DRNSERIES01:NFS_VMware_Test which is correct, but because the script uses a pattern matching test it corresponds to NSERIES01 : NFS_VMware_Test to DRNSERIES01:NFS_VMware_Test as NSERIES01:NFS_VMware_Test is contained in DRNSERIES01:NFS_VMware_Test. It then checks if the destination of the snapmirror corresponds to the peerArrayID (that is, in this case DRNSERIES01) he does not like the destination, properly, is NSERIES01, and then reports that the peerArrayID is incorrect. If there is no match on the local-spin-name: volume-name of the source of the snapmirror, then he continues to check the destination of the snapmirror, and when it finds a match, it checks if the peerArrayID is the source of the SnapMirror, and if it checks the State of the SnapMirror is broken off.

    I've never touched the issue with the first reprotect because DRNSERIES01:NFS_VMware_Test is not contained in the source of the SnapMirror (NSERIES01:NFS_VMware_Test) and so it will be the next test of verification of the DRNSERIES01:NFS_VMware_Test in the destination of the SnapMirror, that he finds and then checks the DRNSERIES01 against the destination which is also to and finally confirms that the relationship of SnapMirror is broken-off.

    I had changed the volume on DRNSERIES01 a while ago because I thought that the question could have because of the volume being names the same, but I had changed with a suffix of _Repl on the end and so the script was always corresponding to NSERIES01:NFS_VMware_Test to _ReplNSERIES01:NFS_VMware_TestDR.

    I have now set my group of test as follows:

    Protected site

    Name of the file server = NSERIES01

    Volume name = NFS_VMware_Test_HMR

    Recovery site

    File name = DRNSERIES01

    Volume name = NFS_VMware_Test_EWC

    I can now get on the Site recovery, Reprotect, restoration, Reprotect and Fail-over again and continue achieving recoveries and reprotect again and again as often as you can re - save on VHS of Scotch tape!

    If the file on the Site B server had a suffix on its name instead of a prefix, for example, it was named NSERIES01DR, or had a name completely different then I would never hit this bug in the SRA.  I'll wait for NetApp fix SRA.  In the meantime I will be renaming all my volumes on the site of recovery as well as to avoid this problem.

    I configured a physical database maximum Performance, accelerated failover mode standby. I set FastStartFailoverLagLimit to 3 hours (10800 seconds).

    If I understand the Oracle documentation, Fast-Start failover should work with Max Performance, as long the Transport timeout is whithin the FastStartFailoverLagLimit.


    So I started a few scripts, generated some loading, so I have a Transport and apply the shift of 3-4 Minutes.
    Then I killed pmon to cause an automatic failover.

    Failover failed with ORA-16798.

    I know, there is Note 846087.1 , which describes the problem, but I thought that automatic failover should work in this configuration.
    Is this a bug or am I wrong?

    The FastStartFailoverLagLimit property specifies the amount of data, in seconds, during which the standby database target can

    Errors show a gap for sequences 34-37, which is not optimal for a fast failover.

    Even if FastStartFailoverLagLimit is set to 3 hours, there is too much data loss for the standby site because newspapers are not available on the backup server and the Broker cannot activate the Pb of the day before.

    Steps to change the time-out value:

    Right-click the virtual machine in the stimulus package and select Configure.

    Change the default value of 5 minutes to 15 minutes.

    I use SRM, almost everything works fine except one thing.

    I know that this is probably a simple question - I've stuck with marketing jargon and just am not not clear on that.

    SRM seeks to recover a site or he can do and also failover individual VMs?

    By example, if I deploy:

    Site A - 40 mV, 4 physical servers, SAN, data stores 4

    Site B - 40 mV, 4 physical servers, SAN, data stores 4

    If I lose 1 server in site a can I served it to Site B or should it be all 40 virtual machines, or entire data store?

    Y at - it a failback option?

    Finally, is it versioning/snapshots, as well as replication (which is managed by the SAN I know not, but are available VM snapshots)?

    There are some interesting points here...

    First of all, the others in this thead element are correct - SRM failovers all virtual machines in the data store - really the only way to recovery on the VM data store that contains 20 are to have a fair recovery plan for her - place you 19 of the virtual machines in the area "not lit" and the unique virtual machine in the normal priority. The get together 20 recovered during the test - but effectively only a VM would be active. It is a clumsy work-around that could not serve your purpose - and useless if you press run...

To some people will say that the loss of a data store could not be considered as disaster - given that can be recovered by a local kind of snapshot to the table, rather than replication to another geographic location. As ever I guess depends on the size and scope of your infrastructure...

    Finally, automatic failover. With the SDK and some work with .net, it is possible to automate the recovery plans. But I'm his terriritory dangerous - because you could could easily get splitting-brain/false positive.     Please don't be crazy on me, but in my opinion, this is the wrong place for your question. The fact is that Toshiba doesn't support Windows 2003 server for mobile computing. If you have problems try again with Microsoft.
    As a manufacturer of operating system, they should be able to offer an explanation for each error message. Sorry, but I see no connection between the problems described and Toshiba as a hardware manufacturer.

  • Firefox install fails with WIN ME

    I tried to install Firefox 3.5 and 8 on a Win ME - both system fail with "Setup causes an error in the Setup program. Firefox 2 was OK. Firefox messages suggest an update is necessary, but I can not because the installation program does not work.
    I also can not provide FEEDBACK - because it suggests, I need "Last version" which I can't install "simply" as it says on the feedback page. It's a probplem with ME - like the other browsers like IE and Chrome latest versions do not appear to it either... am I stuck with older versions?

    You can try KernelEx for versions of Firefox 3 + to work, but they might be very slow with an old PC less 750 Mhz and RAM.

  • Can't do dmg file in the folder - "operation failed with status 1"

    I have a 1 TB hard that often went around. There are some personal files here although I am trying lock creating a DMG using disk utility and turning on encryption. However, whenever I try to do that, I always get an error code - status 1 to be exact. Note that it only does on some records. I had about 15 cases work this way with success, but I get this error a LOT... probably about 40% of the time. "Whenever I try too search ' operation failed with status 1," nothing appears!   • Backup failed with error 18: the backup drive is not found

    Hello

    My guard time capsule saying "Backup failed" for a few days and I cannot access the old backup files either (when I enter my time machine it shows 'today', which is kind of scary, although I know that my old files is still there). I tried many ways to trouble shoot this problem, but none of this has worked. In my opinion, it's more a network problem and I made sure I connect Wi - Fi even my time capsule created.

    So far I have tried:

    -Delete the files from my internet (com.apple.airport.preferences.plist; preferences.plist and NetworkInterfaces.plist, etc.) and restart my mac

    -Remove TimeMachine.plist and restart my mac

    -Hard reset of my time capsule. Went through all configurations with success but then still backup missed (I hear the running time capsule when it is by train).

    I share this time capsule with my wife and she has no problem with that.

    I can only think of a possible alternation I did which could cause this problem.

    Because of unstable WiFi problem, I had deleted

    com Apple.Airport.Preferences.plist

    com.Apple.Network.identification.plist

    NetworkInterfaces.plist

    Preferences.plist

    or other files and reboot my mac * before * I had this problem with time capsule.

    However, this is not the first time I do it, and it wasn't a problem before...

    This could be the reason? If so, how to restore the network settings?

    What model is the TC?

    Try to force the connection to 2.4 ghz using different names for the various bands... or even better to use ethernet.

    (You may need to buy love at first sight for adapter Ethernet... is an investment worth considering how unreliable wireless).

    Also give me some screenshots of the TC installing airport utility.

    I tried several times to improve my HP Envy 15-K204NA for 64-bit Windows of 8.1 to 10 Windows Home, but she continues to fail with the error code 80070714.

    I use Protection Premium Bullguard and Acronis True Image installed.

    I disabled the SQL services as suggested by other posts on the internet, but nothing seems to work.

    I have now abandoned and rebuilt my laptop using the recovery partition.  The upgrade to Windows 10 came immediately, and it installed fine.

  • SSM BIOS deployment ends sometimes fails with error 0 x 642

    Hello

    I'm trying to use the SSM software to deploy an update of the BIOS on my HP Folio 9470 m 300 and run to an intermittent problem.  The problem I see is that sometimes, the deployment fails with a dependency error 0 x 642. I was not able to determine a reason for the failure, and the same package deployment works on another laptop.

    The only consistency I was able to reproduce, it's that if the installer has failed the first time, it will fail at each time in the particular computer.

    I've included a deployment successful and failed log files.  I confirmed that there doesn't seem to be a problem with the help of the incorrect BIOS password, because I put the password to that specified when I created the database deployment and it will still sometimes fail.

    Let me know if I can provide any additional information.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I really want to be able to use this software, because it would make my job managing these laptops much easier.

    The team responsible for the SSM does not monitor this forum.

    According to the newspapers, that you've posted, you use SSM version 2.14 A8.

    Your version prior to the design and production of the folio 9470 by about 3 years.

    SSM were many changes since 2.14.

    Please update to the latest version.

    I suspect a corrupted download. If you have trouble downloading the correct Installer iTunes try; Uncheck the box "Keep me updated", clear the cache of your browser, change the settings of the blocker, a right-click or ctrl - click on the download button, using a different browser, or by using the direct links here.
