• 5324 SSH running but not asking not password and not running through my firewall

  I picked up a Dell Powerconnect 5324 off ebay and wiped the configs, updated the firmware and got it mostly set up for what are my needs but I don't know why good SSH than active and working locally on the same subnet as the ip of the vlan has the following two issues:

  1 SSH works but only ask "open as:" then "user name:" and never will prompt you for the password. It just goes straight to an enable command prompt

  2. I can't work through my firewall DNAT. It's not critical, but I removed the access list that I had just to test and still no go.

  You will have to perhaps disable the built-in Administrator account when it prompts for user administrator rights, and then try to install updates.
   
  Follow the steps below to disable the built in Administrator account.
   
  Method 1: Use command prompt
   
  a. log off from the administrator account and log in to another user account.
  b. go to the start menu and in the accessories list, select command prompt
  c. when the window appears, enter the command net user administrator / active: No.
  d. your login screen should now show only your common user accounts.

  This message does not mean in itself that you are not an administrator, but says that everyone will be blocked, but only an administrator can remove the block.

  Please keep in mind that restrictions placed on the system by antivirus system for example would be as a block of administrator level and would be effective for the 1st instance for all tastes. It's just that as an administrator you would be able to override the block but as a deliberate act.

  If I bought a used computer, no matter who previously owned the
  first thing I could do with it would be to reinstall the operating
  system itself. You don't know how the computer has been maintained,
  which has been improperly installed, what's missing, what virus and
  There may be spyware, etc. I would not live with someone
  other errors and problems, possibility of kiddy p0rn, etc. and I
  would not recommend anyone else to do.

  Your choice of course, but in my opinion, you're playing with fire if you
  do not reinstall Windows properly.

• vSphere ESXi ssh works, but not able to ping from the inside

  I have problem with my ESXi 4.1 straing I just fresh installed on workstation 6.5 and assigned IP address. I am able to ping and ssh on my local network (another PC).

  But when I am trying to ping my local gateway of ESXi bash command line, I get the expiration time. Everything works including shared iSCSI and all but vMotion don't work. Is this firewall problem? I don't think that there inbuild firewall in ESXi.

  I am able to ping the local interface IP, but no gateway, see below.

  I'm having a problem with my background. Whenever I try to put a picture on my computer as background will not be set that image as it is, and when I put a picture of the internet as a background it will fix but don't stay once I restart the computer. This is the case EVERY TIME.

  After seeing this happen several times I went to control panel > appearance and personalization > change wallpaper. What I get on this page is a simple line, "this feature has been disabled, please contact your administrator." The problem is I AM the administrator and I have never changed the parameters of the Office to act like that, and I certainly never turn off any of the display settings.

  I scoured these forums and I've seen people who have similar problems (but not admin issues I'm having and not the problem with the setting of a local image) and have tried some of the solutions, including going in the ease of access settings > make computer easier to see and to erase the settings is unchecked.

Since it is to change the registry I recommend that you first create a point in http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/create-a-restore-point-for-windows-vistas-system-restore/ restoration system AND back up the registry as follows: http://www.adamsdvds.co.uk/tutorials/vista/regedit/backup.php.  I also want to warn to do at your own risk and peril - I have not tried these procedures myself, so I can't speak to their effectiveness or what other impact that may lead to changes.  But if you do the safety precautions backup two above, you should be able to recover in case this does not work or something you want starts to occur.  The decision (and risk) is your enttirely.
