  It started yesterday.  I use Windows Vista on my desktop.  I put the power/sleep options not to sleep-(never) during the day because I play videos from my video player Amazon.  I did this about a year and it has never been a problem.  Two days in a row, the computer was past to the login screen and asking to specify a password (we have defined it to enter a password that is awake) about every 30 minutes.  He never sleeps in fact, any kind of goes in stand by, then display password prompt. I'm still able to hear my TV shows, but the computer has the screen upward password prompt.
  We have AVG anti-virus and analyses of the computer every day at noon and have not found a virus.
  Could someone help me understand what the problem is?

  It is important that the laptop is not in stand mode or hibernation mode.

  First of all if the Toshiba power saver is installed on the laptop so the electric windows options doesn t work.
  All power settings should be changed or set the energy saver.
  You must choose the energy saving mode, and then click Details
  You should see 3 tabs.
  Check the second power saver tab you can change some settings, also the stand by time. After this procedure, you must apply the change.

  in case of failure of electricity - an incident standard these days of high temperatures and a/c worked as crazy - battery of my Satellite only lasts for about 2 hours, what is indicated, although it seems completely charged (green led).

  To my knowledge the old batteries discharge more quickly and after a long period of use, the battery will discharge.
  This is nothing unusual and to be honest it s only a matter of time when it should be a replacement of the battery.
