Re: Satellite 1410/2410 battery lasts less delayed

Hi all

in case of failure of electricity - an incident standard these days of high temperatures and a/c worked as crazy - battery of my Satellite only lasts for about 2 hours, what is indicated, although it seems completely charged (green led).

Shortly, after that the laptop goes into battery mode, I get a warning message that within 4-5 minutes the computer will enter Stand mode for the next 2 hours, which is not good at all because I can't work!

So, what happens? If I can't work at least 1-1, 5 hours on battery, do I need a laptop?

Thank you for your time... and I welcome all responses, I hope you'll come with some good ideas, because this problem bother me all summer...

May I ask how old your laptop s has?

To my knowledge the old batteries discharge more quickly and after a long period of use, the battery will discharge.
This is nothing unusual and to be honest it s only a matter of time when it should be a replacement of the battery.

I have some mobile home and one of them is about 6 years old.
The battery no longer works. I can run the laptop is longer than 2 minutes using the battery.
I didn t he replace because the laptop is still connected to the power adapter. If a replacement is not necessary for me.

I think you have the same problem of battery and only a new battery could solve this problem.

Good bye

This problem has persisted throughout the four months, I've owned and used this notebook: when the battery has been recharged and I try to work on battery power only, the battery reading usually indicates 82% min 27' and, as you would expect, runs right now.

I've seen similar problems reported on this forum, but none with such a capacity of battery runs.

In case this isn't a bad battery, is it possible that I use a lot of battery power without realizing?

    Hello

As far as I know that the Toshiba power saver is not installed on the Sat Pro L20.
The power of Microsoft options windows is responsible for the State of battery power.
However, have you tried to update the BIOS on this laptop? If this isn't the case, in order to check it out.
Visit the Toshiba page and check that you have installed the version of BIOS with BIOS available on the site.

But it is also possible that the battery has a malfunction because it s unusual that the laptop will run only 27 minutes on battery.

    Hello

I need to reformat my laptop but I can not find my product recovery cd. I don't remember if I've ever had or not to be honest. Can I get one sent to me? Or I can download recovery stuff from anywhere?

I have the cd tools & utilities, is the stuff of recovery of product out there?

    See you soon,.

    Hello
On the CD of tools and utilities, you can find the Toshiba drivers and utilities, but without the Windows operating system. Only the restore CD contains the image of the operating system with all the drivers.
Stefan suggested, you can use the original CD of Microsoft Windows to install fresh OS Win or you will order this CD of the ASP from Toshiba.

  • Satellite 1410-604-BIOS update > update BIOS Incorrect in the web?

    Hi there again!

Now with a new and strange issue.

We all know that tell old... "If it does not break, don't fix it." And if you put in more computer terms, "especially if it's a BIOS.

Yes, we all know that the BIOS is something quite dellitate to manage. For some reason, we normally feel as if we manage something like nitroglycerine, or radioactive products. And it's because we all know who is put at risk at the moment: our (or sometimes other) computer, the whole system could end up as dead as some pieces of metal, plastic and son.

Well. I passed through all of this, more than 10 times in my life, and only once, it went wrong. But since this old motherboard was already dead, it was not important. But I've always been EXTREMELY care. Allways cross checked everything before you do anything, allways has a backup and a way to allways and restore that backup... I did COMPAQ systems, which have been prepared in this way. A BIOS update was about about a disc, turn on the PC with the disk in the floppy drive and wait. And if you don't like the results, you just click on 'back to a previus BIOS' and that was it... very nice. And easy.

A few days ago a friend gave me a Toshiba Satellite 1410 604 to solve some problems that have been her crazy. After you remove a Norton Internet Security has expired, install avast and scan, I found more than a hundred of files infected with a variety of viruses, malware, trojans, and everything you could imagine. Avast all removed, but the rest of the operating system was so unstable that we decide to format it and install from scratch.

I asked for the restore disks, which obviously it failed because they were lost in one of his trips. After that we had confirmation of Toshiba representatives there is no disk recovery available for this model, because it is too old, we decided to install from scratch like any other normal PC and resigned to losing some of the utilities accompanying that CD and are not available for download on the Web site.

I downloaded all the software available for this model, including two updates to the BIOS. (In reality an update, but in two versions: Windows and traditional) and prepared a CD with all the drivers and programs as if it were a new system installation. And everything was fine, no problems at all. Until we arrived at the wireless LAN card, but that's another problem is already solved (the mini PCI card for the WLAN does not support the encriptación WEP or WAP, and it is not possible to connect to any LAN encripted wireless).

At this point, and when I started setting up and activation of peripheral PCMCIA and USB devices (this computer only supports USB 1.1, 2.0 not) I discovered this text from Toshiba Web site:

"This Bios update adds functionality to your system.
(BIOS stands for Basic Input and Output System. This program is stored in a chip memory dead on the motherboard.
When the computer comes on, the BIOS is launched to perform various functions to start.)

For more detailed updated information, please refer to Information update BIOS Toshiba"

    Yes... it's here!

Now when you go into the "Toshiba BIOS update information", you get:

    "Ref. FAQ: TRO0000000b07.

A BIOS update is a {color: #ff0000} * operation is relatively simple and can be done by computer more competent users * {color}. All BIOS updates can be obtained from "BIOS update" Section download click here...

Note: the BIOS files are specific machine the correct BIOS for your machine should be used. »

Please note that Toshiba does not disencourage BIOS manipulation, on the contrary: they even encourage people to do. It is not badly needed, but at the same time that they encourage people to 'play' with such a delicate question, at the end of this page, in small letters, they say:

"Toshiba provides this information"as is"{color: #ff0000} * without warranty of any kind * {color}, explicit or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of quality market or adequacy has a specific use." This should trigger yellow alarms in our minds.

+ "Human error is inherent in man, and it is not possible to eradicate. It will be displayed always, sooner or later"(Prof. James Reason). +

And finally, I made the mistake. Although I have read this warning, I remembered all these successful BIOS update with COMPAQ and relied for Toshiba. This update was available there, and Toshiba told me that it was for this computer. Great!

So finally, I disconnected all devices (USB), removed the PCMCIA (WLAN), plugged the battery charger to avoid any possible battery problem, restarted windows, and then Windows started the update (windows version, such as recommended by Toshiba). This drug looked very nice, nothing different from what I usually see on these old COMPAQs.

As reported by the update program, the system would restart. And in fact he did.

Windows normally closed (a little faster than normal, but without mistakes, and since there is no other programs that most - even the antivirus not working - no), the computer turned off, all lights (normal) offshore, and then again on...

OMG! I never movement something SO bad. 3-1-1!

And now... What a 3-1-1 is here? Award BIOS would mean no card graphics or video deffective card, but it is not true, because it worked 20 seconds ago. There are BIOS.

He never came again to life. He's still 3-1-1 beep.

But now comes the investigation on the human factors involved in this accident.

I found I committed the following errors:

    * (1) * rely in the constructor, even if they have WRITTEN their information may be incorrect or incomplete. (BAD if I was a detective QA & QC).

    * (2) * I cross checked deep enough (until it was already too late).

    * (3) * I haven't looked above for how to make a backup of the BIOS to restore must anything deceive you.

    * (4) * let Toshiba lead me to a path that I didn't walk, just because of their supply of 'increased functionality.

    * (5) * Beleave in Toshiba when they said "relatively simple operation and can be performed by the most competent computer users"... they never said it is infallible. "."

Then I began the most interesting part of the investigation.

    {color: #0000ff} * "what went wrong?" * {color}

Obviously, the update of the BIOS has not somewhere, somewhere. And I wanted to know what and where.

First thing, I discovered that there is another Toshiba search engine called "askiris" ([http://askiris.toshiba.com]) and I looked to see if, for any chance I could get the old BIOS 1.20 version which was installed at the origin of this machine.

And I found something... VERY interesting:

    GOOD! Or not?

    Let's take a look:

First thing I did was download all four files.

Then I took the same version that made the accident: 1.40

I unzipped the file, which I found:

And I got my first surprise here: there is a {color: #ff0000} * README. TXT * {color} that was not present in the file that I downloaded earlier from the repository of drivers.

So I went the readme.txt and I found this:

    'README. CDC TXT 31/01/2003

I thought ' well, there must be another archive... ". »

But then I realized a name that seems familiar, that is, in the directory where I unzipped this file 1.40, and the name is:

    {color: #0000ff} * 2410A9V140. EXE * {color}

So I took the other file, the update of BIOS_Win, and I discovered that the name of the file is:

(Except in the case that one of these models is a name that is different from the model 1410-604, and if that's the case... now I don't know why this BIOS do not work with this computer).

The worst thing is that neither the other files (V1.10, 1.20 and 1.30) lists the 1410-604, apparently so no solution possible workaround for this problem. I need an original v1.20 to the CMOS, and Toshiba seems to have. They offered me to solve the problem, leaving the laptop to an ASP, and pay only € 95 for the work and about € 280 for a motherboard replacement, I will get it resolved. But they offer no guarantees of their possibilities because is a model "too old" and "abandoned" and "unsupported"...

In other words, they said 'you don't have to bother with it, just go and buy a new' (something of quite out of my reach in this time of crisis): P

    Thanks for reading so far.

Now, what I need is to get ideas on a work around for this, my ideas are:

    (1) the CMOS has some startup that works (it allows a roll-back if you have the appropriate file). So I need a good BIOS to burn in the CMOS memory, the SAME SAME model (a backup BIOS) but the backup should be sufficient for the burning program (CHGBIOSA.COM).

    (2) it is always possible that the BIOS might be OK, but the CMOS data has been corrupted somehow. If so, the CMOS of compensation could solve problem. But I wasn't able to find a clear cmos from the outside button, and after disasembling I took battery, with no good result. I try to leave the MOBO without battery for a period more long (I left it about 20 seconds) just in case where 20 seconds are not all capacitors for well pass zero values. I don't have a lot of hope in this point.

    (3) try to get a REAL good update from Toshiba. I contacted technical support several times, and I was able to verify that they are only - phone operators, with a script in front of them, and when the problem is going - out of reach, they fall in the same response: "you must go to an ASP. I still have a faint hope to find someone who really knows a little and could illuminate with a good BIOS in this disc.

    (4) as far as I could find, this BIOS is not any BIOS-manufacturer known. It seems that it has been developed by Toshiba (own brand), so the Phoenix crisis recovery disk won't be of any help here. As well as any other BIOS recovery tool not designed for Toshiba BIOS. But I'm open to all ideas, which could be put to the test more or less safely. (Remember that the 'BIOS-BOOT-PART' feature still works, I don't want to lose that possibility alone of redemption).

Wwwaaaaoooowww... what a falks long post! Sorry about that!

Forgive me, but I wanted to be really clear.

Someone give some tips or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Please don't say that I shouldn't be doing... I already know that. I already did some research and found my mistakes, not to repeat them. Now, I need to spend, to move and to try to solve this problem, or at least learn to solve similar things. As much as possible.

Thank you once again, in advance, and sorry again.

The Bios in the website is the right one. If you have downloaded the right version of the Bios.

Toshiba America, which has most of the time the Askiris you used isn't accurate models for Toshiba Europe.
This should be the reason, why does not the readme file contain the European model.

I'll try to do an update of the fresh Bios using the update of the traditional Bios.

Copy the files on the disk, put it in the floppy drive, press and hold power on the notebook tab.
After that the laptop is off, press on and hold the key on the left side of space power on the laptop new bar and wait until it turns off again.

If your laptop does not power perhaps the most, the RAM is default?

Therefore, if the use of the traditional Bios or change memory doesn't help, and your laptop is still dead you should go to a SPA, but it will cost money.

I now have my fourth Toshiba laptop and I had never problems with the Bios updates.

The 1410 is very old I think, so before you go to a SPA, I'd buy a new ;)

    Best regards

    Maurice

  • SD-2212 drive does not read some DVD - Satellite 1410

    Hello every1,
I have the Satellite 1410 604 for more than 2 years, with player combo mentioned above...
It serves me right, except that it does not read certain types of dvd media, and I use only high quality DVD Verbatim...
It happens that in the last months. It is not my main computer but it's to use in my house, and it really bothers me when my sister or father takes the new A60 Pro satellite on the road (its battery is better), I can't use last discs on it. So if there is a cause of upgrade, firmware I can't find on this site...

    Thanks in advance...

    Hello

I don t think that the firmware update will solve this problem because this pilot acknowledged this DVD some time ago.
In addition, I put t found any firmware of this drive on the Toshiba site.

But check if the disk by removing the procedure will solve this problem. So why go to Device Manager and remove the disc. After again starting the operating system should recognize the drive again

    Good bye

    He's not 6-cell 4800 maH?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    It supports 4000mAh

    See you soon

  • Satellite L755-11J battery low charge question

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L755-11J for nearly three years.

It is now stated the battery down and to replace.

What is the average time that the battery lasts? Understand that they take some time, but seems a little earlier.

Looking for a replacement online through Toshiba but can't seem to see it.

    Thank you.

    > What is the average time that the battery lasts?
To my knowledge, the common battery would have started loos performance around after 500 cycles of carbonization.

However, to keep the battery performance the longer possible, you need to calibrate the battery from time to time. The battery should be completely discharged and then recharged until the battery indicator should appear green (or blue).
This process must be repeated 2.3 times in the line.

  • Satellite 1410 - password on power on

Hi I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite 1410, daughter put a password on it says, but don't remember.

Is there a backdoor password to enter the BIOS and delete it?
Or is there another procedure as reset the battery of the BIOS, or something.

For safety, you will have to send the laptop to an ASP for the removal of the password.

The ASP will have the necessary tools.

  • Unable to get the restore to work - Satellite 1410 disc

I have a Toshiba Satellite 1410. During a restore of system with restore disks, I forgot to plug it. During the windows set up (this screen where you put in your country and all that) the battery has flat that I plug!

I tried to throw the disc again, as it came with a box when I rebooted that said "the system is not fully restored. Please re-run Setup '. So I turned off and restart, then the message goes up after that windows image appears during startup.

I bought this laptop second hand so I have all the manuals or books with him, I do not know the keys on which support to MSDOs not that I know what to do from here, I do not know which key press during boot up to get the CD to work, I have pressed the keys left right and Center and found exhaust takes me to a page of the system but anything to get the CD to run again that I thought would get just the restoration will once again.

So now it starts up saying ' not completely restored system, please run the installation again.

Someone know or seen this before, and someone can tell me if there is a simple answer, which key support during the start up or how to fix this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

As Daniel said in the first assignment by pressing the C button the laptop should boot from the disc. Please press that several times the C immediately after the laptop from.
Then you can be sure that the option has been enabled.

The other possibility is to enter the BIOS and then to change the initialization of the order on CD/DVD first

  • Satellite C50D-A00L - battery of short duration

    Hello

my partner has a portable Satellite C50D-A00L that was bought yesterday, the battery only last about 1.3 to 1.5 hours at most and on eco mode, which is just surfing the net.

I have a Satellite L850 and the life of the battery last 2 - 3 times more!

Is this good? The battery feels very light compared to the batery in my laptop

Can I use my laptop battery in his?

Can I buy a battery of capacity for it if so where to go? (links)

    Cheers for any info

    Hello

As you have probably not known different laptops of different batteries.
There are 3 cell, 6-cell, 9 cells or even 12 batteries which lasts much longer and provide more power.

I found on the Toshiba page specs of the Satellite C50D-A00L and it looks like its battery 3 cells.
I guess that the L850 was equipped with a stronger battery.

    > Can I use my laptop battery in his?
Do not think to check if the battery will be compatible.

Found a few compatible batteries for Satellite C50D series and it looks like you could use a 6 cell battery PA5024U-1BRS 4200mAh or / and PABAS260

  • Satellite L735-11f autonomy last only 3 hours

my daughter satellite L735-11f autonomy last only 3 hours...
is it a problem or do I need to replace the battery, or simply change a few settings?

    Hi Fred

3 hours is really a good value for the working time of battery.
Don t think that something is wrong with the battery.
You should know that the battery working time depends on the use of the laptop.
The battery needed to dump more quickly if the laptop computer to operate with higher performance.

Of course, you can change certain values in Win 7 power management to optimize the parameters of battery operation.

  • Satellite U 300 - battery and sound problems

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had similar problems as me:
My laptop is only two years, but last year his work only intermittently. I get messages saying that the driver is not installed, until one day he will decide that the driver is installed after all and works very well. Until the next time it stops working. There seems no rhyme or reason for it. I gave up trying to reinstall the driver, because I know that (possibly) the sound will come back without intervention from myself.

My second problem may be connected - I have problems every now and then close the laptop. I try to put in mode 'sleep', but is not complete the process, and the blue light comes on. When I then open the cover, very often, the screen stays black and I have to turn off the machine and turn it on again the force again.

Then recently, I noticed a sharp drop in the battery life (less than an hour). He also annoyingly started losing all power and cut until the indicator showed all the usual warnings of low power.

Anyone know if these problems can be linked, and whether they can be fixed? A new battery will fix it? To be honest, he arrived at a point where I think to buy another laptop do since they are really starting to get frustrating!

    Thank you very much

    Gooday,

I also own a U300 I bought about 2 years ago now, I had no problem with the sound but didn't have any other problems with my 1-2 months battery life after life - 20-30 min. I just baught a new battery and it is promising, I just did the first load and it lasted long, however the windows said it had 0% remaining, but I pulled out another 30-45 minutes the dough until it went flat. If you look in your event log do you get the message

": The embedded controller (EC) has failed in the specified time-out." This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with the manufacturer of your computer for an updated BIOS. In some cases, this error may cause the computer to function properly. »

It is listed under ACPI in the event log.

    see you soon

  • HDD upgrade Satellite 1410 604

    Hi all

I have Satellite 1410-604 and the HARD drive is really broken (about 1/3 of the blocks are wrong, according to MHDD and a strange noise is coming from the drive). I have another Toshiba HDD from another laptop. This spare part is a MK2018GAP (20 GB, 4200 RPM) while the original HARD drive is a MK3018GAS. I am very surprised by the fact that my laptop cannot detect even the 'new' drive of 20 GB, despite the fact that is also a part of Toshiba, of same rpm with original HARD drive and less capacity.

This disc HARD MK2018GAP came from other non-Toshiba laptop and was replaced because the owner wanted a faster drive (7200 RPM). I am sure that the MK2018GAP works well. Can someone help me please? Why my laptop can't see the 'new' Toshiba disk?
It makes account "no HDD" in the latest version of the BIOS (1.40) I.

PS: Above all, can someone tell me if the laptop can accept a new 60 GB 7200 RPM HARD drive? I want to buy one, but after this failure, I fear that my laptop does not detect it.

    Hello

It s very strange because the MK2018GAP supports the 20 GB drive HARD Ultra-DMA100 and interface (ATA-2/ATA-3/ATA-4/ATA-5).
Satellite 1410-604 also supports the ATA-5 interface.

So usually the HARD disk must be recognized by the BIOS. I have only one explanation. The HARD drive is a bad master/slave. I m not 100% sure how the HARD drive should be set on works properly on this laptop, but you should check the settings on the old original HDD to book you.

I also found the compatible sizes of HARD drive: 20 GB, 30 GB, 40 GB HARD disk 60Go should work.
For example, the TOSHIBA MK6021GAS HDD 60 GB and 4200 RPM is compatible.

I would like to say a few words on the speed RPM HARD drive. The 7200 RPM is very fast and usually the Satellite was delivered with 4200 or 5200 RPM hard drives. The highest speed could produce more heat, which could increase the temperature inside the laptop.

  • Satellite 1410 - power on problem

    Hallo,
I have some problems with my Satellite 1410 303.
After the stop, without disconnecting the power supply, if I try to put the laptop by pressing the button start the laptop does not start and the orange green power led indicator lights up, indicating a power problem.
This problem appears after updating bios and Windos XP Service Pack 2.
    Can someone help me, please?
    Thanks
    Andrea

    Hi Andrea

The first thing you can try is to remove the battery for a short period and try to start Notepad without power supply.
It will also be interesting to know if the laptop turns on without battery with power running. There is the problem after that, is it possible that power supply microcontroller don t work properly.

If the orange flashing is not constant it may flash code.
