START Media Player, not in the list of programs on the MENU
For some reason any Media Player has been removed from the list of START MENU programs how do I get it back in the list that I have not entered?
Hello RickWS,
Very well. Follow my previous instructions and PIN the icon in the start menu. Then, right-click on the embedded Windows Media Player you option to the start menu and select "copy".
Next right click on the "all programs" option at the bottom of the start menu and click on "Open all users" Windows Explorer opens and in the right pane, you should see three elements. Default programs and Windows Upates programs.
Right-click programs, and in the menu drop-down, click on paste. A message appears telling you that you need adminstartive permissions to make the changes. If you are the administrator, click on the button continue.
Now take a look in all programs, and you should see the entry for back to Windows Media Player where it was originally.

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file. (((PLEASE HELP)))
I understand that this has been a matter of repetition and I made the suggestions listed and nothing works. This just started happening, although downloading songs, and once they are finished I'm not able to play them with Windows Media Player. The initial message indicates that the file has an extension that is not recognized by Windows Media Player.
I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop with Windows Vista Home. Any suggestions? What should I chahnge how I download and save music?
Hey Taylor09,
You may find that you are getting this message in Windows Media Player due to one of the following reasons.
a. you try to play a file that is not supported by the player.
b. you are trying to play a file that the player does not support, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the player.
Step 1:
Confirm that you are trying to play a supported file type. The following article lists the types of files (formats) supported by Windows Media Player.
Information on the types of media files that supports Windows Media Player
Note that if you tried to play the file type is included in this table, the file might have been encoded with a codec that is not supported by Windows Media Player. If this is the case, Windows Media Player cannot play the file.
Step 2:
Download the necessary codec to play the file.

Hello
I recently haven't been able to burn a CD with Windows Media Player (he worked last week, but not now). I get an error message "Windows Media Player cannot find the file. The link between the library item and its digital media file associated with may be broken. "Try to fix the link or delete the item. There is a web help option which says that to fix a link, you click on the blue icon next to the item, then click "Browse this article. But the only icon I see is a little blue triangle next to individual songs in the library pane or list, there is no icon next to the name of the playlist. Although the click with the right button on the blue triangle gives me a few options, "Browse this point" is not one of them. Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong and how can I sort it please!

During the synchronization of music files, you have 3 questions,
1-WHY some said files already added to the device, even if the memory card is empty?
2-is there a way to configure windows media player to detect songs appearing twice and automatically delete them or just simply not add syncing? IF Yes please let me know how.
3-How do you stop sync everything in windows media player when in sync I put only some songs, but it always adds all the music, 5 star music AND photos? How we prevent that?
Hello
Follow these steps and check if they help.
Step 1:
You can re-create the database of Windows Media Player and see if that fixes the problem.
To resolve this problem, delete the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:
a. exit Windows Media Player.
b. Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player and then click OK.
c. Select all files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.
Note You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.d. restart Windows Media Player.
Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.Step 2:
If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:
a. exit Windows Media Player.
b. Click Start, type % LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft and then click OK.
c. Select the Media Player folder, and then click on Delete on the file menu.
d. restart Windows Media Player.
Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database. With respect to the timing, I would have you read the following article.

3. What is the format of the file you want to play in Windows Media Player? You may encounter this error message for the following reasons:
(a) the file type is supported by the drive, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the player.
(b) the file might have been encoded with a codec that is not supported by Windows Media Player. If this is the case, Windows Media Player cannot play the file.

Original title: error reading from a photo cd
Error message "Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD. The disk has been created in a way that the player does not support"when the disc is inserted into the PC HP Touchsmart yet he plays on the laptop. Help please
Hello
(1) what is the file format of the photos on the CD?
(2) you are able to play another CD/DVD on this computer?
(3) have you made recent changes to the computer before the show?
(4) is it a Blu - ray disc?
Install the codec for Blu - Ray. Your Blu - ray player should have come with a medium containing the codec. You can also use your favorite search engine and free research Blu - ray codec.
The Blu - ray disc format is not supported in Windows Media Player. To play a Blu - ray disc, you must use a non-Microsoft program that supports Blu - ray playback and a device that can play Blu - ray discs. If you have a program that supports Blu - ray, then I suggest you to use the Troubleshoot utility and check for the issue.
You can try the following methods and check if it helps.

Original title: cannot get audio from video .3g2 (Windows 7)
I have a number of videos that were recorded on a Motorola phone to format .3g2, when I played against them in windows XP Pro using what was the most recent media player, they played very well and the audio was present.
I've since upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate and have found that videos will play with media player sound is not output.
I tried different players like VLC (same result, no sound) and came across one called SUPER from erightsoft which indeed works and allows me to re - encode to .wmv BUT when I do and you try to read the .wmv I encounter an error:
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player does not support the format you are trying to play. »
When I clikc on help, I am led to a page with links on THIS forum.
So here I am.
Can someone explain what is happening, why it happens and how / if I can convert them into a playable (with audio) .wmv friendly format?
Thank you

In windows media player, cannot change the album art view in the list of music icon.
* - Original title - in windows media player, I can not change the album art view in the list of music icon...
I recently deleted a lot of my music library, the Media Player (not while in the music folder in my library, but all using the MP). but now, in the classic view (and when I click on an album cover to view follow-up for an artist or album), it will only allow me see the tracks/albums with expanded tile or Details views we don't let me use the display of the icon; Indeed, this listening option is grayed out. I don't know what I did, but before that I deleted the music I could see the icon display in the library. Can I fix somehow?
Here's how I put it in an e-mail to a friend, maybe the problem is clearer in this way:
Very well - so the other night, I did a purge in my music folder, deleting a lot of tracks how much I did not listen. I was doing this WMP. Now, the default view in my WMP since always the view icon, with the great icons of the album covers next to the track. (large, compared to other views) But now, I can't get that discover more, not when I'm looking for the titles of music st - only when I look by Album, artist, Genre or year. In the opinion of music suddenly the only options I been authorized were expanded tile and details - icon option is grayed out and the purge he was not! I looked in the WMP folder in Program Files and there was a folder called icons; It was empty. I had never watched there before; so I don't know if this is normal or not. How can I fix it? I remove and reinstall WMP?
Had the same problem and you probably already figured out the answer, but it's here... Media Player 12.
HERE a THE FIX... go to the top near the top of the media player window and directly to the left of the search bar in the media player is a drop down for the choice of the view menu. It is somehow changed to "Détails" view in the mine... CHANGE "Expanded Tile" view and your icon appears again in the Middle as I had initially. ;)
