Start menu - Games folder has no executable association

If I want to use the Games folder in my Start Menu for convenience, I can't.  Whenever I click on the game icon or image to start, I said that "this file doesn't have a program associated with it for performing this action.  Create an association in the control panel to define the Associations. "  What?  I don't know how to do this, I can get this section of the control panel but have no idea how "connect" with the symbols of this folder.  The games on my computer fine when loading I access it through my office, if there is a separate icon, or my Big Fish Games and Wildtangent game managers.  So I know the executables that launch games exist and are accessible by Vista.   Not only through this great - but right now useless - folder on my Start Menu

Hi MooeyG,

Open the Games folder and try to copy and paste or drag the icon on the desktop of your game folder and run it from there.

  • The Start Menu program folder is empty

    I was trying to organize my folders in the program file in the start menu. In my effort to move some of the files, a new appeared folder also named 'Programmes', which seemed to be a duplicate in the program file, so I removed it. When I did the menu is empty, so I tried to restore it from the Recycle Bin. He restored some of the files and folders, but none that were originally on the computer, such as the Solitaire and file administration tools. Essentially, I want to clean the computer and reinstall all programs and files that have been on it the day I bought the computer. However, I don't have a CD to do this.

    How to restore my Start menu list?

    How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
  • Hi, I have a bunch of programs on my desktop I want to put in my Start menu. Someone has any idea how to do this? In addition, I have Windows 8
    I have shortcuts to programs on my desktop I want to put in my windows menu start. I looked and there was no possibility to add to the start menu. Does anyone have an idea how to do this? Thank you
    Copy the shortcut "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start start\program"
    This will place the program on the screen of "All Apps". From there you can right click the icon and the Pin-to-Start
    ProgramData is a hidden folder, click the view tab in the file Explorer, and check the "Hidden items" box if you do not see.
  • I lost my games folder in the all programs folder in the start menu, how can I replace it (Win 7 Pro)
    If I remember correctly, I was playing solitaire spider on this computer about 1 year ago, but now I can't find the Games folder in the start menu. In the past, the record of the games was still installed automactically when I installed the operating system. Can it be restored or installed from a stand alone facility?
    Thank you
    Frank
    When you go to start, type spider and see if it lists the game.  Otherwise, type appwiz.cpl and press ENTER.  Then click Add windows components, and then check out the games.  Sometimes, on Windows 7 Pro, they are disabled.
  • Start menu appears when the letter button two times, reducing to the minimum the games or the theft of focus
    Hey all,.
    I just got a new computer with Windows 7 64 bit Home installed on it.  We have installed a few programs (Google Chrome, steam, Team Fortress 2) but quickly noticed an interesting glitch.
    A letter key is typed twice and held, it evokes sometimes the start menu.  It happens more frequently when you play, and thus minimize the and killed us.  It can also happen outside of a game - my wife had trouble typing a web address, because when she hit 'w-w-w' the menu start jump upward and she just type 'Google' or whatever in local search.
    A few notes:
    • The computer is new.  The keyboard and mouse as well - are the keyboard and the mouse are brand gear xtreme.
    • We have updated Windows from a half hour ago.
    • We have updated the graphics drivers from an hour before.
    • We run avast antivirus and have analyzed malware.  We only visited sites of confidence, since we got the computer yesterday, and the problem appeared the first time my wife ran IE, so I'm doubtful that it is malware.
    • Nothing unnecessary runs in the background - that is if I run TF2, the only other program running is steam that has to work.
    • We tested intensively - the Windows key has not been pressed.
    • The problem may appear when a program runs, but its also duplicable when simply on the desktop is open - double typing and taking much will eventually bring up the Start Menu.  However, the problem is much easier to duplicate and much more infuriating when you play full-screen.
    Thanks for any help you can provide.
    -Zack
    Hi Zack,
    ·        Is this a desktop or laptop computer?
    If the problem does not persist, you can continue with step 2 from the link above.
