Start PC fail

You need to restart my pc several times (6 times yesterday), until I get the screen to connect.  The repair process fails, and I find myself having to force startup.

Hi SOliCat,
Thanks for posting in the Microsoft community!
I'm sorry to hear that you have problems starting the computer.
Did you make any changes before the show?

What exactly happens when you connect to the Windows 7 operating system?

Is there an error message/code?

Try the following and see if it helps.
Method 1:
Try to boot to the last good known Configuration.
Using the last good known Configuration: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Using-Last-Known-Good-Configuration
Note: Make sure also that you have disconnected all external devices except the keyboard and mouse.
Method 2:
Boot safe mode in Windows 7: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

If you are able to connect in safe mode, turn the computer state to boot to safe mode and check if it helps.
How to solve the problem by running the clean boot in Windows 7:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: once you have completed troubleshooting, perform the steps in the step 7: to reset the computer as usual.
Method 3:
I suggest to perform a boot form system recovery option using the repair disc and check if it helps.
Startup Repair using the Windows 7 installation disc:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-are-the-system-recovery-options-in-Windows-7
Note: If you still have the problem then I suggest you to perform a restore of the system to Winre.
Open the menu Options on your computer system recovery and try to perform the system restore.
To do this, follow these steps.
(a) remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer and restart your computer by using the power button on the computer.
(b) do one of the following:
If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you must try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to repair, and then press and hold F8.

(c) on the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight repair your computer and press ENTER. (If your computer is not listed as an option, then your computer doesn't understand no repair preinstalled recovery options, or your network administrator has disabled the.)
(d) to select a keyboard layout and then click Next.
(e) in the System Recovery Options menu, click a tool to open it.
(f) select System Restore.
For more information, see the following Microsoft article.

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-are-the-system-recovery-options-in-Windows-7

Please report if you are still having the problem. I will be happy to provide you with the additional options that you can use to get the problem resolved.

  • Starting test FAILED - HP ENVY 1191-NR

    Hey guys/girls,

New to the forum - need some tech support.  I have a HP ENVY3D 1191-NR running Windows 7.  He recently began closing before you start completely.  I ran a Test at startup and for the following results:

    Memory test: FAILED

    FAILURE ID: QE40XL-5GE6G4-XD0141-400103

    PRODUCT ID: YL748UA #ABA

    Memory module

    Starting test: FAILED

I wonder if that means the RAM of the computer has gone wrong and I need to replace, or else... ?

    Thanks in advance to all.

    Hello:

Yes, that could indicate a possible memory module failure.

What I would do is unplug the PC and remove the battery.

If the laptop has two memory modules, remove one of them and plug the power adapter.

See if the PC starts and works normally.

If so, unplug the adapter, remove the other memory module, put in the first one you took, connect the a/c adapter and see what's the result.

If the PC does not start, you have isolated the bad chip and you can just buy a new one with the same characteristics.

If the PC is still under warranty, contact HP for a replacement.

  • Starting test failed

I have a HP Pavilion g4-1125DX with Windows 7. A few days ago while I was downloading the files that it hung. I was able to move the cursor, but could not close the browser window, nor could I stop him. I push the power button down for a few seconds for a hard stop, when I tried to connect the system to the top it wouldn't boot Windows. He gave me several options to save and I tried to perform a restore of Windows, which did not work, tried to start it in safe mode and still have the same error, I gave up trying to save my files that I have most of them supported anyway if I tried to perform a full recovery of the system to the factory settings. He went through the process of recovery worldwide and says that it is successful. When I tried to reboot after recovery, he hung up on the trunk again. He didn't try to make me the same recovery menu. He just hung. I tried another hard stop and restart to get to the HP Advanced System Diagnostics and tried the start-up Test and he FAILED.

He gave me the FAILURE ID: M4H27W-5NR5SC-MFPV5G-60UQ03.  I don't know what to do with this information. I need help. I just want to get this thing back operational.

    Thank you.

    Hi, LBG,.

An error 303 is a failure of the short drive self-test and definetely suggested that tough is a failure.

As your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP by simply using the relevant link below and make arrangements for the disk needs to be replaced.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

  • HP ENVY laptop - 15-k101nx: HP envy 15 does not start after failing to set up

Failed to configure Windows (it took so long and shows no percentage) so I turned off my laptop, removed and unremoved battery and turned on it. The problem is it does not start and the screen is all black with little light on it.

    What I've done so far:

-J' tried to restore the BIOS by following the instructions here say: http://support.hp.com/ee-en/document/c02693833 ; However, I still have the same problem after restoring the BIOS.

-J' also tried a few hardware diagnostic test, he failed in the test of ' disk hard short dst check "and gave me chess and product IDS.
-He also failed in the Startup Repair tool

My laptop is still covered with warranty accdg here 'http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/weInput?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&tmp_weCountry=&tmp_weSerial=&tmp_wePro... '. but the characters upon receipt of my laptop is already melted aways since they are written on a thermal paper.

BTW, I can always open the command prompt and the research on the C: drive and see my files, but don't know what to do whenever I used the chkdisk command, it asks me to do things I'm not familiar with.  I just heard that the chkdisk command solves the problem temporarily.

What do you think are the alternatives and solutions to the problem of my laptop?

Yes the hard drive needs to be replaced. Just call support and they will have it replaced for you under warranty.

It started with the PC freeze, well, I just restarted and after have connected you on the deskop screen came, then it just froze again... and again... and again...

(discovered an old topic about the same problem here: http://delltalk.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=insp_harddrive&message.id=45306 )

I ran the F12 diagnostics, he said:

    -Start the test short dst.
    test results: fail
    error code: 1000-0146
MSG: Unit 0: dst log contains previous error

and when you run intensive scrutiny with the CD of diagnosis CRITERION of the READ and CHECK it seem to fail (error code 0F00:1344 and 0F00:1 A 44)

  • Phone start-up failed

I bought the new Satellite from Toshiba. Followed the instructions on how to start. He asked me if I would like to remove the hard drive. And don't give me the opportunity to say 'no' so I went with it. It now comes with the following message and I have not found anything on how to fix this.

    * For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.0.1.9 *.
    * Check the cable connection! *
    * PXE - MOF: exit Intel PXE ROM.*
    * No boot device - insert boot disk and press any key *.

Do I need to buy a disc of "boot"? And if so where can I find one?

    Thank you

    Hey Buddy,

This error message means usually only in the BIOS, an incorrect boot order is set. Have you checked the BIOS? You must set the HARD drive as first boot device.

    > I bought the new Satellite from Toshiba
    Is what laptop exactly?
For me this seems strange that you have to format the HARD disk on a new computer laptop purchased.

  • HP probook 4520 s: start test failed

    Hello

Which indicates a failing or hard drive and you need to replace the hard disk drive.

I suggest that to do fast & Extensive tests in the system diagnostics hard drive by typing F2 away as soon as you turn on laptop, to be confirmed. If you get the ID of failure 24 characters or other error codes, it is time to replace the HARD drive.

If you are in warranty, HP may send you a free of cost.

Otherwise, you could buy any laptop brand to retail SATA HDD at least the same capacity as the one supplied with your laptop. (Eg. 500 GB, 750 GB)

If you do not have a recovery until now media, must order them for resettlement to the factory settings.

  • re black screen: start: last good known Config, Windows starts normally begins to start and fails

This screen offers safe mode options that I didn't choose. When I select to start Windows normally the computer starts to boot and I see the Windows Logo, then it switches to the Logo from my computer with 2 different keys of F and when I looked into it and I tried again, I got the black screen again with these options and it keeps cycling.

I tried F8 and I don't know enough to navigate. Can I get help? My windows disc seems to be broken, so I'll try another disc. I ran it under Configuration now it says: for installation: format the Partition using the NTFS file system. I don't know how to repair Windows on mine.
The disc seems to be higher my score 1 digit. It is Windows XP Home Edition. The Windows disk that is scratched is not this edition. I do not know what form of Windows is installed in my BONES.
I move files off my hard drive when this problem occurred and I got a blue screen and the computer began to dump physical memory... I turned off my computer. Recently, I had the memory stick inside, but it starts normally after that I did until this happened, I thought that this can happen because I changed the memory stick... not sure

    Hello

Are you trying to clean windows install? Do not pass without taking your databackup as format NTFS means it will erase all your data on the disk, you will have:

    Validate windows

    Reinstall windows update

    Install all required software

    Restore your data

What, exactly, is the problem. Remove first the cd boot pc, at the prompt when it asks for safe mode - select Safe mode, connect to pc using administrator.

    Click Start-> run, type &-> chkdsk /f c :-> OK

He may ask you to schedule the scan of the drive-> select Y for Yes, restart your computer.

    I hope this helps.
