Start the USB VM in Vmware 6

Hello everyone, sorry to bother you to all.

Searched for an answer to this, I can't seem to find a. I'm trying to start windows server ISO 2012 from a USB connected directly to the host. I set up the usb controller and added the usb device. It is recognized. I'm not trying to get my VM to boot from USB but I can't start it. I tried tinkering with EFI and Bios but can't seem to get the USB to boot at all. Please can someone give me step by step instructions on how to do this? I feel as if I had just missed something simple...

Thank you very much for your time!

CTRL Alt Del after connecting the unit! I have it! Thank you!

Some systems cannot put a change of configuration of VT - x into force without being truly disconnected from power for a while, so if in case of doubt, he put it off and remove the power outlet for a few seconds.

Your CPU is certainly capable of VT - x and support all the VT - x features required by VMware Workstation... Simply to force the system to allowing the use of VT - x and then it should start to work well.

Notes: Creating an ISO Image of the CD/DVD drive

When you use utility disk in order to have a bootable ISO Image, you must select Master CD/DVD without encryption in which case by default, it will have an extension .cdr file and in version 1.1 of the merger and later does not need to be changed in .iso, although one can if one chooses to. A default .dmg image is compressed and is not bootable, as an uncompressed .dmg will start if changed in .iso and of course the source CD/DVD should be bootable in the first place.

To create an ISO Image using disk utility...

1 insert the CD or DVD disc into the optical drive of your computer.

    2. open disk utility (/ Applications/Utilities/Disk utility).

    3. Select the CD or DVD drive in the list of disks and volumes.

    4. Choose file > new > "Disk Image from (name of the disc)."

    5. type a name for the disk image.

    6. choose "DVD/CD master" from the Image Format pop-up menu.

7 choose "none" from the encryption pop-up menu.

    8. click on save.

  • Access to the BlackBerry through the USB port on the virtual machine VMWare

I have my development environment configuration in VMWare virtual machine, and I have no problems of deployment of BlackBerry applications on a simulator that runs as another virtual machine. A way to solve this problem? • How to start a client of the USB?

    Hello

I'm trying to start a client vmware linux from a usb key (which has an installer of linux inside).

I can create a host controller and a usb device. When I start the system, that the USB is connected to this client computer.

But I never managed to boot from usb-stick, the boot process * still * trying to get a response from a dhcp server. When I go to the bios Setup, I can only select a device "removable", until now, I didn t find any usb device to start.

Is usb-boot possible on esxi or should I try a workaround?

It may be worth trying Plop Boot Manager 5.0 to see if it works with your distribution of USB.

  • Start the VM on USB: USB detected/unlocked hostOS

Suppose I have a Win7 guestOS running inside a hostOS Win7. guestOS works well at the start of the vmdk disk.

Now I plugin a bootable USB stick and reboot the virtual machine of guestOS.

When the BIOS of the virtual computer screen I press ESC to get to the start menu and select

"Removable device" since I want the the USB boot guestOS.

Unfortunately guestOS VM does not recognize the USB and the boots 'as usual' its vmdk disk.

Yes, the boot sequence in the BIOS of the virtual computer lists 'removable device' on top as well (it shouldn't matter when I press ESC in the splash screen)

    And Yes, VMplayers menu

    Player-> removable devices-> Sandisk

It seems to me that the hostOS is blocking the USB somehow so that it is not available for the VM guestOS.

You can use Plop Boot Manager to your goal.

I don't know what is the problem here, but it turns out that it is certainly possible to boot from the memory stick bootable USB flash.

Many users have been abele to boot from the memory stick USB external flash, but it is necessary to disable the secure in the BIOS boot option.
Also if you want to install an unsupported UEFI system, the boot mode must be changed of UEFI in the CSM.

  • Satellite A10 - want to start using the USB

I have a faithful A10 pro, paralyzed by a skinny concert 17 HARD drive. The DVD - rom drive just failed. I replaced it, that one isn't working. I seem to have a problem with my motherboard (so the tech Guys tell me). Maybe someone out there knows better.

I have an external (USB) DVD-rom and floppy, that work well, but I'm unable to boot either. It worries me because I need to reinstall windows. I also want to replace the HARD disk drive.

I can (so the BIOS tells me) boot from LAN. I have a home network (desktop runs vista Home premium), but do not know how to start the drivers for the USB drives on a local network.

Maybe there is an easier way to boot from a USB device. Can someone help me please?

  • Satellite C660-108 does not start if the USB Bluetooth dongle connected

    Hiya,

I hope you could help me.

I'm having a problem with my dongle bluetooth and satellite c660-108.
It all works perfectly. It connects devices via bluetooth and I can do whatever I want.

But then when I'm mobile stop and turn it on again it will go if the bluetooth dongle is always in the USB.

I see Toshiba screen and then it hangs with a black screen and a cursor flashing at the top left.
I have to turn it off, remove the bluetooth dongle and then turn it back on.
And then windows starts. After that, I put in bluetooth dongle, once again I want to work with her.

It isn't a huge problem, but it is a bit annoying when I have to leave the bluetooth and put it back again to get the windows began.
I'm running under win 8.1 but he already had with 8 victory.

    Anyone any ideas?

    > I see Toshiba screen and then it hangs with a black screen and a cursor flashing at the top left.
Especially the blinking cursor is displayed because the laptop can not find a boot device.

It seems that the device cannot put on the HARD drive while the USB dongle is connected.
I would recommend you check the boot order in the BIOS.

Put the HARD drive in the first place and the USB boot last device.
Save changes and check if it helps.

  • Cannot start linux USB drive on the PC of Compaq CQ2903ES

    Hello

I am trying to install linux on a Compaq CQ2903ES desktop PC. I disabled startup secure on the bios, but the system does not boot from a linux live USB.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Paul,.

I can confirm that following your directions, and starting from a DVD, I could install linux on it. This isn't what I wanted at first, but it helps.

    Therefore, the solution is:

    1. Disable secure boot.
    2. Enable legacy start.
    3. Set boot order (DVD first in legacy trunk).
    4. Start the PC and enter the code + entry.
    5. Again, start with the inserted bootable DVD.

Thank you much for the help.

    Best regards.

  • Portege M500 cannot start when the USB ports are loaded

We have a M500 that recently seems to be affected by start-up problems when the USB ports are loaded with things like KB and Wireless Mouse USB external adapter.

When these ports are occupied at the start, all the usual tools seem do not load and the associated icons do not appear in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. • Satellite A300-243 - can I choose the USB key you want to start?

    Hello
I need an update for my laptop.

That is the problem. I want to boot from a flash drive and I want to save my data on another USB HDD.
All other laptops (even mini books) is an option that you can choose when you need 2 or more USB key when starting, that USB drive you want to start.

When I put 2 key USB to PC and push button start options, see a single USB boot option. I want to see them all.

Please help me get rid of this.
    Thank you.

    PC: A300-243
    BIOS: 1.90-3/20/2009

    Hello

    I think that's not possible.

As far as I know there is that only one option is supported by the BIOS (last option called USB memory)
You need to know that the different BIOS supports various functions and BIOS located on the A300 contains the option only to a USB key.

So you can use just a USB key to start.

    Welcome them
