• Unknown status alert

  I have about 50 iDRAC to OME - a mixture of iDRAC6 & 7. Every day I receive 1 or 2 of the following "Status unknown" alerts raised. Generally followed a warning of "Normal State" 50 to 70 seconds later. There is no visible trend for these, but the frequency makes OME virtually unusable due to the high number of false alarms.

  Is there a solution?

  If the State of health of the device then changes to a stranger in the status survey OME automatically generates this alert to say that the health of the device has changed.

  If you don't want to see these alerts, you can disable this alert settings option in the preferences. Uncheck the box enable internal health alerts and you will not see these alerts.

• vCOPs - used to generate alerts from vcenter instead of configure actions on the vcenter Server?

  I was wondering - is vCOPs a product that can alert and monitoring, in addition to being a tool of use/capacity analysis?

  Since then, we have 8 or so vCenters, we would use vCOPs to generate action alert for most standard vcenter alerts. Is this a proper thing to ask vCOPs to do? It seems much better to have a monitoring/alert tool to do this and then try to make sure all vcenters have commonly (and correctly) snmp Configuration and alert thresholds and actions.

  Yes. We found in vcOps alert management configuration is cumbersome. The virtual appliance provided by PSO the process a bit easier with a front-end user interface, but really, it should be as easy as configuring alerts in the user interface of vSphere

• Uninstalled SRM. vCenter management VR error display Service status

  I've been trialing SRM and uninstalled.

  I uninstalled SRM and also removed the replication apparatus that I deployed to it.

  There is now an alert in vCenter Service status VR management is impossible to recover data on the health of https://ipaddress:5480/service/HMS/CGI/health.py

  I did some research for the error and found people taking on this error and how to solve if SRM is still present by updating the thumbprint.

  I have followed the steps in this Blog from VMware to locate the entry in the LDAP Server vCenter.

  If I have more SRM installed, can I remove the many "CN = com.vmware.vcHms," all together? Or is it necessary for other things?

  What cleanup steps should I follow to remove all the remains of MRS.?

• OMSE - no health status on SNMP

  I recently started an OMSE server configuration and adding OMSA servers in the environment, where I am able to create a beach discovery and set up the beach to learn about SNMP. OMSE is version 2.1.0.2635 and OMSA version 8.2. I followed the tutorial in open manage essentials to set up SNMP on 3 of 18 servers that I added to the beaches of discovery, but so far only one of them reports the status of health. 2 are on the same subnet, but in different geographic locations and a third is in another country and on a different subnet. All sites are connected by the SPLM. If I run the troubleshooting tool, 2 on the same subnet will report more information on the server with the reporting health ukd OMSE, but Dr device which is in reports from different subnet than the name of the device. Can someone help me?

  

  Hi, the DRA is the server you mentioned in your first post.

  I think it's something to do with your installation of OMSA.  I ask you to open a support on 800-945-3355 ticket. This will help our engineer to take a deeper look and possibly to fix your problem.

• vCOPs Alerting does not?

  I added my VCOPS server and I can't to vCOPS click on "actions-> search in vlog insight"... which works well so I think that the adapter is configured correctly.

  Now the questions is when I set up an alert in vCenter Log and set source as a criticism of the VM... I do not see the virtual machine getting a fault or change of status.

  1. the Aelrting works at vCOPS in the beta?

  2. if guide installation Yes?

  I assured my time settings and the areas are still in vCOPS and vCenter Log Insight.

• Monitoring and network of virtual machine failure alert

  I'm trying to set up an email alert when one of our VMS lose network connectivity. I'll try the following settings, but I don't receive any alerts when I kill the network connection.

  • Alarm type: Virtual Machine
    • Monitor for specific events occurring on this suybject...
  • Trigger: VM No. network access
  • Status: alert

  I tried the same settings with a different event (for example on and power off the power) and I get an alert message each time. But with network access I get nothing. For the test, I have reset the INVESTIGATION period (so there is no network activity), I disabled the NETWORK card and I tried to disable the NETWORK adapter in the settings of VMware.

  Nothing alert? Essentially, I jut want an email when any of my virtual machines happen to lose access to the Internet for a reason any.

  Thanks for any help.

  Another note: I also tried to use different drivers Ethernet, with no luck.

  Decided to use only ONE Veeam.  Their free version offers sufficient data and monitoring.  Seems that monitoring network is a deficit of VMware.

  By default, vCenter Server is not configured to send notifications by e-mail. Set the system server account and SMTP sender to receive an email when the store of data use alarm is triggered.

  Procedure

  1. Select the system my vCenter Server 5.1 Server vCenter in the browser.

  3 click on edit, and then click Mail.

  4 in the mail server text box, type the IP address of your SMTP sever.

  Creating an alert from vCenter for newly created VM

  If your like me and you want to know when a virtual machine is created in an attempt to curb virtual server sprawl, then you must configure a custom alert to notify you when a new virtual machine is created. VCenter has in fact already pre canned for you in ESXi 4.1 or 5 alerts.

  Follow these steps:

  Create a new alarm

  General settings should be monitor virtual machines

  Select the radio button for the monitor for specific events

  On the triggers tab

  Add the event for deployment VM

  Add the virtual machine creation event

  In the Actions tab

  Send an e-mail notification

  Enter the e-mail address

  Time alert green to yellow

  Yellow alert time in green

  My VMs shows alerts in Vcenter Server, although there is no visible alarm on the alarm tab. Not for the virtual machine, not for the host, and not for the data center.

  I can't connect to host virtual machines display no alert. I enclose a photo so you can see what I mean with a warning sign.

  It happened when we had an unexpected failure and virtual machines restarted.

  How can I solve this problem?

  Edy Hello,

  Earlier, few people have experienced the same problem and have been able to fix by doing the vMotion of virtual machines. You see if it works for you? Maybe a service restart vCenter server to refresh the inventory followed by vMotion would be good too.

• Alerts when migrating a VM

  I created an alert in vCenter which applies to a virtual computer with the trigger setting to be "migrated VM".  Basically, I want to follow when migrating virtual machines, either caused by a user or DRS.  The alert I created doesn't seem to work.  Someone else was able to create an alert that would send a mail when a migrated virtual machine?  Thank you.

  I applied the update 1 for my vCenter.    My version is 4.1 build 345043.

• vCenter hardware monitoring

  We are short of ESX4 U1 with vcenter. We have HP servers, but we have not implemented a System Insight Manager server. Recently we had a drive fail to our camp and did not know until we received a call from the colo. We try to avoid putting in place a SIM server for monitoring equipment. Is there a way for vCenter to monitor material events such as disk failure, etc...

  You can configure vCenter alerts to send an email when there is a problem.  We use solarwinds, but you can set an alarm to trigger and send you an email.
