SteadyShot

Hello world

I dropped my A57 about 3 feet on a concrete floor. I have no external damage, but sometimes my pictures are blurry. How will I know if the Steady Shot works or not. In the Menu, I can turn on or off the Steady Shot.

That's exactly yhe kind of thing that can cause image stabilization by displacement of the sensor to fail, unfortunately.

You can confirm the proper functioning of the SteadyShot feature by pulling a few helping hands at shutter speeds slow, with SteadyShot on and outside. Compare the plans to see if there is a difference in the amount of motion blur.

  • When shooting video, it is necessary to turn off Steadyshot when the camera is on a tripod?

When shooting video with a NEX - 5n, 6 or 7 on a tripod, it is necessary to disable the Steadyshot in the menu, or is the camera supposed to sense that she is on a tripod (like the small Sony Hv9x)? I ask because sometimes my video tripod with these cameras mounted seems to have a slight pulsation or flutter, I can't explain.

The SteadyShot function does not serve a purpose, while the camera is mounted on a tripod. Given that the tripod is stationary when you take a picture, there is no excessive movement to the camera. It is not necessary to use the SteadyShot function in this situation.

Sometimes involuntary blur can occur when you use SteadyShot, while the camera is on a tripod.

  • SteadyShot seems to be normal with mounted lens vintage

Sony a7II with vintage lens mounted.

Constantly adjust is set to manual.

Manual is highlighted in red.  But the words "Manual Steadyshot" are grey.

I tested the effect of steadyshot with a 135mm manual lens and could not tell any difference if the steadyshot is turned on or off.

This means that the steadyshot does not work if the "Manual Steadyshot" words are gray?

    Thank you.

  • On my A7ii with a 'legacy' lens, I have add-in the length of the adapter for a total of lens for SteadyShot Adjust?

What I understand: when I'm with, say, a lens 50mm on the A7ii legacy, I must say the focal length of the lens to the camera so that SteadyShot who work best by doing this:

What you are referring is the distance between the lens and the image plane, which is NOT the focal length , but the focus Distance, which is a feature of the lens mount.

In order to properly define image sensor shift stabilization, you enter the focal length of the lens, which is a physical property of the lens and is engraved somewhere on the barrel (usually in millimetres). The focal length is an indication of the Angle of view of a lens, which is what needs to know in order to compensate for an amount of shake SteadyShot detects it.

ID hate to have hanging around the special software to watch its files on a computer that is not mine.

    Hello Sokonomi,

If you plug the X 100 via USB on a PC, the cam is automatically recognized by the operating system (Vista and 7).
2 folders would appear. The "DCIM" and "miscellaneous".
You don t need no special software to watch photos or movies.

I think that the X 100 is fast enough for recording moving objects, but the autofocus might react a bit slower after using the zoom.

With a 4 GB SD card, you´re can record 45 min in full HD (1080i60) and 01:08 hours (1080 p 30). In my view, the battery should last so long, but I try didn t.

  • ASSIGNABLE button 6 doesn't seem to work.

I tried to affect 'assignable button 6' to 'steadyshot' on my FS7, but it doesn't seem to work.

    Countermeasures that I tried:
Thinking that I might need to reboot the camera, I have it turned on and then turning off. I also tried to unplug and re - connect my connection the handlegrip LANC and swapping of lenses (all the Sony E-mount). I also tried other functions as peaking to assinging but no matter how hard or soft how I push the number 6, he's as dead as a dodo.

Has anyone else had this problem or is there something that I'm not just doing?

Sorry everyone. I'm afraid that the culprit was myself. I expected a menu pop up and did not notice that the icon has been change to reflect the State.

Therefore, the button works very well - it was my brain and eyes (I didn't put my glasses on!) which were defective.

  • FS7K lens Image stabilization

Received my KIt FS7K Thursday here in the United Kingdom.

First of all, let me give you a profile of use of the previous video Sony:

Currently I still own both the Sony HVR - Z5 (using Atomos) and Sony HXR - NX5 - my market spent was of videos on the site. Have all two large x 20 G lenses with IS excellent for the operation at hand. What residual movement at hand could often be stabilized using Adobe 5.5 and 2014 CC AE Stabilsing - no probem. I'm a fan of the 'pocket' more of 20 years, dating back to the early days of broadcasting in English

What I see in my test of the FS7K shots is much more "shake". In fact I would say the lens SELP28135G gives me NO stabilization even if I chose the option "camera > Steadyshot > Steadyshot.» "Steadyshot Active" option which, in my experience in previous products, is 'more aggressive' is not selectable.

I can confirm that the 'Otptical Steady Shot' switch on the lens all is market' '.

Formats and codecs I test: HD 1920 x 1080 50 p and 50i as my previous experiences - not yet disappeared to test the 4K again.

What gives? We expect the firmware updates?

The Steadyshot indicator in the viewfinder, not necessarily told you the truth! This is why you must turn it on whenever you turn on. It is my understanding that this issue will be resolved in a next update.

The asset IS is not compatible with the objective of stock but is compatible with some other Sony lens. Talk to your Sony representative to find out which ones who.

    See you soon,.

    Chris

  • Close the stabilization on Alpha 7mk2 when using the tripod?

On my previous camera, we were advised to cut objective of stabilization when using a tripod for a long (> 1 sec) exposure because stability can cause vibrations. Is this also the case on the Alpha 7mk2? Stabilization of the device must be switched off when you use a tripod?

    Altogether.

"When you use a tripod, turn off SteadyShot because there is a potential

for a malfunction of the SteadyShot function. »

  • GYRO lock stabilizer CX760v

I was wondering if the gyro for the stabilization mechanism can be locked mechanically as it seems it will get damaged. You can always hear it move in the unit even when turned off or disabled. Also is there a way to adjust its parameters so it can be less offensive during panning shots or is all fixed in firmware.

Believe it or not Terence Malick used this camera to a vehicle in motion for a shot in a coming feature!

The camcorder has an optical shooting, whereby the objective set + sensor is moved to compensate even moved fort ("Balanced Optical SteadyShot"). This furniture must also have freedom of movement when the camera is turned off. So if you move the device strongly you can hear it moving to a certain extent. This is not a malfunction. As the device is built very solid inside a metal frame and the lens and sensor are connected instead of simple parts, no damage can occur during normal operation (transport). However, it is recommended of course to use a well padded bag, as usual, when you carry the camera around.

  • Function of IRIS with Nex VG20 + Sigma lens

    Hello

I have a NEX VG20 and a NEX 6. When I use my SIGMA 8-16 + THE - ai2 with NEX 6, everything works fine. On the other hand, with the VG20, the iris does not work and I can only work at full aperture. Is there a solution?

I still have two other questions.
With the NEX cameras, the lens correction (vignetting and distortion) is active on the video?
The video SteadyShot function works with all lenses in the range X?

Thanks in advance for your answers,

    Paul

Try to adjust the mode of development on the lens itself, instead of the [FOCUS] button on the camera. There is a M - AF switch near the mount and slide it on m.

  • SLTA77/A65/A57/A37 CROP in video mode

    Hello

The electronic shooting adds an extra culture of 1.2 in video mode! After the shooting the extra harvest is still there! To avoid this extra crop in video mode!

It is a big disadvantage compared to other brands of DSLRs where this issue of culture does not exist in video mode. When we spend so much on lenses (e.g. wide-angle), it is difficult to accept this dramatic change in the field of view in video mode, even after the deactivation of the electronic shooting. I know it's bothering a lot of users and potential buyers.

Please address this problem in the next firmware update.

    Thank you for your attention.
    Kris

Hello, I agree with you, this cameras need to turn off the video of culture when steadyshot is turned off, I own a sony A77 and I am disappointed by this function.

  • Z2 video camera instantly zooms in

Hello, I use Z2 for a year. Lately, I noticed that when I take a simple picture, it is wide (not), but when I click on video it will instantly zoom a little (maby on 2Ocm) but it is clearly visible. For example when I take a picture of the box and the edges of it are close to edges of the screen of the phone then when I touched it will zoom video record and the edges of the box will be seen outside of the camera. You will need to take a step back to any film box. Of course you can only zoom while shooting, you cannot zoom out. When I hit record stop zooms the screen and you can take a normal picture with the entire box shot. My friend who has Z1 has got the same problem. Is this normal? Because Samsung s5 or other phones I've used does not have such a problem. Help or please check your phones so it is topical. Thanks for help.

As far as I know, it's quite normal on when the image stabilization feature is turned on.  The function needs a few extra pixels around the edge of the video that he can 'throw' or 'Add' to the scene saved to ensure that shooting remains stable image in the image.

If you don't like the zoom effect, you can turn off the 'SteadyShot' function in the set video mode - but you will get video jerkier unless you have very steady hands.

  • dschx300b-noisy/nervousness/video all in 3/4 full max zoom... of the day or low light... anyone?

just bought a refurbished dschx300b from sony... when in video mode, the picture is noisy/unstable to 3/4 full max zoom... lighting is not serious... I reset the camera... even... everyone?

In addition, zoom to this length, noise and excitement is natural.
Noise because the opening became smaller (more large number f), causing it to have less light entering the lens, making the sensor to the ISO, which makes it more sensitive, so more noise.
You mention that is happening in the light of the day and the low light, I guess the ISO can be manually set to something high, that then maybe, take a look at the ISO in video mode settings, to see what ISO has been affected.

In addition, with zoom, small handmovements will look great on the screen - just do sure SteadyShot is enabled to minimize the effect Falters as possible in the final video.

Now, if this isn't what you mean by hopping, but maybe a constant vibration or such, etc., just something constant, I think it's time to get this guy here send for verification and replacement.

  • A99 problems, needs an Urgent Firmware update!

while making sure, you are aware of that:

There is a problem of disappeared with the a99 and video vg900:

Take a look at the dpreview forum and other clients

many have returned the camera back because of this problem

so it's worth to check and give a quick solution

    It's probably a codec/compression problem

Here are a few quotes from the Forum

can be very restrictive pass filter or done something another twisted with 24 to 2 megapixels to the bottom of the video conversion

SteadyShot & auto focus video done a few questions

AF mode - D do not work in video mode, also something small in the continue autofocus in video mode

some problems of aliasing and moire in video

NEX-VG900 has the same problems of video

When it is connected to ninja 2 these questions have disappeared

but the only problem is that atomos ninja 2 supports only 1080i not 1080 p at 60 fps

so that means when I turned the slow movement, I have to settle for the camera video

problems with the video resolution (as well as micro-begaiement with AF on). The moiré and aliasing is much worse than the a77 and there is a general lack of detail and sharpness.

None of these things occur in stills mode, if however the camera down - converts image (line jumping, binning, whatever) has a serious flaw and I hope Sony can fix that.

also people are disappointed that the hdmi output is 8 and not 10 bits

Anyway, please correct that as soon as possible.

many people are confused about the purchase of this camera

    because of this problem.

the camera has a great potential and takes great stills

I want to see that it takes great videos too

    Thank you

Note to Sony: it's scary.  I recently bought an A99, and I can see the value of my investment deteriorate before my eyes because of the video problem.

The A99 motorway is a great camera.  I'll post an Amazon review that will notice little still-photograph of magic that even your own people do not seem to have discovered.

You have chosen to ignore the countless complaints the wrong balance of sharpness and noise processing in the A900, and bash people yet a sound performance of the device.  The video problem is even more serious.  It needs to be fixed yesterday!  Your loyal customers are countiing on you.  You cannot afford to let us down again.
