storage vCops ports

Hello

Is this possible on vCops to follow also the storage ports? Measures such as the throughput, latency, orders/o and so on are available for data warehouses, event for guests, but I have not seen the same for ports.

Thanks in advance!

Use these instructions:

  • Storage on FIs FcoE ports

Hi, we live from Netapp for the FIs storage configured as storage fcoe ports, the FIs are FC switch mode. I see the netapp in FIs flogied so the CF part looks good. I was creating a KEEN on the Netapp side and CE marking on these ports connected to the FIs to use for ethernet/nfs traffic. I need to tag vlan 100 side FI, but it seems that there is no way I can do this. The config on made them is as below.

    FI - A (nxos) # sh run int eth1/23

    interface Ethernet1/23

    F: FcoeStorage description

    PIN border

    switchport mode trunk

    switchport trunk vlan native 4049

    switchport trunk allowed vlan 2000,4049

    no downtime

    FI - A (nxos) # sh run int vfc745

    interface vfc745

    link interface Ethernet1/23

    switchport trunk allowed vsan 2000

    no downtime

The NXOS running on the FIs is read-only. How to allow to vlan 100 int eth1/23?

You also need to configure the port as a port of the device.  This will make a "Unified storage" port rather than simply FCoE_Storage port.  When you add the role of 'Port' the device it allows you to select the trunk VLAN you want to allow.  The FI should then tag the traffic accordingly.

    E.g.

    interface Ethernet1/1

    Description AF: UnifiedStorage

    No server pinning sticky

pinning of pinning-down server drop down link

    No cdp enable

    switchport mode trunk

    switchport trunk vlan native 4049

    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,240,4048-4049

    no downtime

  • 6248UP: how to display a GFS model and the seller in a CF storage port?

We have a couple of 6249UP Blade (2.21 (d) interconnection with the latest firmware installed. I need to check what types of SPFS are installed in the ports configured as storage FC ports. It's easy with Ethernet ports, this information is displayed directly in the management of the UCS. However, the FC ports not this description.

Of course, I can get out of the SFP and write down all the information I need. Or I can reconfigure the ports to be Ethernet ports. However, these two methods are disruptive. Is it possible to display the information that I need? In the shell, for example?

  • Connection EQL 6110 X (10G SFP +) PowerConnect 6224 10 Uplink ports

    Dear friends,

    Need your help...

Please let me know if I can connect EQL 6110 X (10 G SFP +) storage to ports 10 G SFP + PC 6224 for iSCSI to my servers on a local network connectivity that is 1 G.

Correct, do not use the uplink ports for Gigabit Ethernet switch for 10GbE tables.    It can connect, but performance and stability will most likely suffer.   So has been the experience of other customers who have tried to do.

  • Storage circuits and dot1q FCoE

We have live from Netapp for the FIs storage configured as storage fcoe ports, the FIs are in mode switch CF. I see the netapp in FIs flogied so the CF part looks good. On the side of netapp, we have a 10 g interface, e1a, with an IP on this subject.  We have another interface of 10g, e1b, with VLAN attached to it for this interface sends and receives frames dot1q tag.

Documentation seems to imply that the ip traffic does not at all on an FCOE storage port.  Yet, e1a works very well is not the case of e1b.

Question 1: My theory is the plain ethernet on e1a works well but the dot1q tagging on e1b, is what actually does work on the FCOE storage port.  Am I wrong?

Question 2: I think to operate dot1q that I need to change to change the type of port FI FCOE destocking at the port of the unit.  Is it as simple as chaning the port enter through the UCS Manager?  Who takes the FCOE link offline or anything?

    Hi Tod,

Please make sure you have dot1q on Netapp and necessary FCoE VLAN are marked as native on FI and Netapp.

  • Nested ESXi 5.1 and iSCSI Shared Storage

    People:

I am unable to get my ESXi servers nested to see the iSCSI shared storage, that I put in place for them.  I use iSCSI for the ESXi host, who holds the guests of ESXi, so I have a successful iSCSI configuration to use as my reference.

Here's what I have for the host network config:

    iSCSI targets

+ IP1: 172.16.16.7 (subnet for host IP storage)

+ IP2: 172.16.17.7 (subnet for storage over IP comments)

vSwitch associated vmnic2 on NIC IP storage

+ Port "IP storage" group containing virtual NIC both ESXi hosts

+ VMkernel Port for iSCSI host connections: 172.16.16.28

Here's what I have to config network comments:

+ The highest virtual NIC group of ports "IP storage".

+ vSwitch with only a VMkernel port for iSCSI of the guest connections: 172.16.17.38

From the iSCSI host, I am able to ping 172.16.16.28.  However, I am unable to ping 172.16.17.38, and here's the really confusing part - I am able to get an answer ARP of that associated with the VMkernel port with the correct MAC network CARD!  This eliminates all kinds of potential configuration issues (for example means bad NIC, bad IP, etc..)

The firewall on the host indicates the software iSCSI port outgoing 3260 Client is open.  Capture of the target iSCSI host package reveals no. TRAFFIC from VMkernel IP guest when updating to storage adapters.

In the debugging process so, I turned on the "Promiscuous" mode on the vSwitch associated vmnic2 on the NETWORK card on the host IP storage ESXi and poof!  Everything magically started working.  The iSCSI traffic be unicast, so I don't see why promiscuous mode would be necessary, but I can't argue with the results observed.  Clearly, I have more to learn more about nested ESX, that's why I'm playing with it.  :-)

Leave the controller in raid mode. Provides the same functionality as AHCI and you can change to raid later if you choose.

  • 2.1(1a) UCSM zoning?

I just finished my upgrade to 2.1(1a) and need help.  I have a NAS server, attached to the FI and configured as a storage FCoE port.  I also have a Compellent SAN directly related to the FI.  We don't all have switches upstream for zoning or anything like that.  Before the upgrade, I had disabled on my VSAN zoning and everything worked fine. I just did on the side of SAN LUN masking for secure access to the LUNS.  Since the upgrade and have zoning now active on the VSAN my NAS is no longer able to see the SAN.  I know that it is because there is no area created for her, as there is of my blades.  My question is how can I create a box for the SIN so that she can access it's LUN on the SAN again?  I looked through the CLI and the functionality is not in the NXOS.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Don

Expected a direct attach NAS to see a live table attach is not supported.   You were probably default profit of zoning that allows you to "see everything for everything."  As you say that you relied on the masking of security.

We have voluntarily removed this feature (default zoning) due to problems, we've been see.  Features fc of zoning is intended for blade <->communications target only, no NAS or other directly connect <->target zoning.

  • VSAN, MDS, areas... and many doubs

    Hello

After reading lots of documentation, I'm very confuse and it is very difficult for me to do a picture in my head of how this work.

For example. I have a table of storage, 2 MDS 9148 and 3 servings (independent, no blades) with 2 HBAS each. Each HBA has 2fc ports of 8G each.

So on the final configuration, each server will have own OS ESX and virtual machines, all within the storage Bay (serves him didn't have HDs).

Topology of connection: I have 2 MDS for redundancy. So I guess that's Connect ports FC 2 (combination mode) from the server to each MDS switch. But what I need to connect 2 MDS using an ISL trunk?

Design VSAN. VSAN is as VLAN but what are the criteria that I should follow to assign VSAN? A VSAN by ESX and the other by virtual machines. Or a VSAN by MDS switch, server...

Area, pwwn and nwwn: if I understand correctly. nwwn is the address of my adapter HBA and the MDS and the pwwn is an address of each port on the HBA and SDM.  But dissing the areas, what are the criteria?

And finally. The Vswitch on the sphere and on the storage array logical unit number. they have their own pwwn? Can I assign them to areas?

    Thank you very much.

    Best regards

    Check figure 4 of the

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/interfaces-modules/Stor...

you do not have a core - edge, but only the kernel.

All devices, storage and ESXi hosts have two hosted this 9148 2.

NO ISL links between the 2 MDS. The CF philosophy is double fabric, A and B.

You create 2 separate VSANS, for example 10 to fabric and 20 for fabric B.

    Zoning is directed by VSAN.

Single initiator - single target areas: port hba - storage controller port pwwn pwwn.

Your ESXi will then discover the FC LUNs.

VM can't see CF, they see peripheral scsi (RDM is an exception).

CF Multipathing driver may be installed on the host allowing failover and load balancing.

    See, for example.

    1 cisco Catalyst 3560-x

    2 fabric of interconnection 6296UP

    1 FAS 3220 (primary storage)

5 servers blades Cisco UCS B200M3

    Firmware version: 2.2 (3 c)

Interconnection of fabric are set directly on the fabric of interconnection 6296up and ports are configured as storage FC ports

    My question is this:

Can I zoning fabric interconnect with FAS3220 and FAS2240?

May I present LUNS of FAS2240 and FAS3220 at the same time on the same startup strategy, same strategy of startup san and the same organization?

    Thanks for your help

You can make the zoning on UCS:

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/servers-unified-computing/UCS-...

If it's really a good practice...

    CF sees WWNNs and WWPN.

What would be the purpose of pointing both starting the 3220 s 2 and the 2240?

  • Real doozy of blackBerry Smartphones has a problem

Greetings to you. I hope this message finds you well.

I need some help with a problem that has just recently.  I literally spent all day looking for and trying solutions and nothing has solved the problem.  Until about 2 weeks ago, I was with XP Pro, but went to 64-bit Vista Ultimate on a new computer laptop. I was able to install and use the Blackberry Desktop Vista software with no problems after installation... until yesterday.  When I plugged the BB Storm to my laptop, the laptop has recognized the BB, but BB Desktop does not.  I tried all the obvious things like another usb port, a usb cable, hard to start two devices, uninstall BB Desktop and relocation, checks the parameters of mass storage USB Port, authorization rights, by running as an administrator and so on.  I tried to disable UAC, check connection options, run 4.7 instead of 5 and so on.  I can't BB Desktop to recognize that the BB is attached. On XP, I had this problem once or two, but a reboot took care of the issue.  Unfortunately, I absolutely need to be able to synchronize appointments with Outlook and other documents, so it is important that a solution.  If anyone can help me, please let me know.  Thank you so much in advance. -TMreth

I want to thank all of you who responded to my call for help.  I finally just to load Win 7 (RTM - no Release Candidate), dumping Vista well.  It seems to be a behavior itself and is synchronization and recognizing the BB.  I wonder if it would make any difference to go online to download the vs disk software.  My husband had a similar problem with his BB and since we went with Win 7, there was no problems. (shrug)  Again, I'd be curious to know why I suddenly started having the problem in the first place.

I'd love to give you guys well done, but I can only do if the suggestions do not solve the problem? -TMreth

  • Fabric Interconnect 6248 - linking to 3rd party servers

    Hello

We are running out of free ports of 10 G of environmental Nexus5K and until the extension of the network is added, I plan to connect third-party servers (Del, HP) 3rd in the FI6248 that are used only for Ethernet. I couldn't find any documentation that describes if this is supported or not.

Are the ports of server or device support base connectivity ethernet for the 3rd party servers?

    Thanks, Sandor

    Greetings.

The FIs do uplink support, server and device (storage) connectivity ports.  Server ports are two connections of Cisco VIC supported, connections of IOM chassis Rack UCS server or fabric Extenders Fex connections (i.e. 2232PP).

Any UCS server connections are not supported.

  • NFS question

I have a vswitch who has management, vmotion and the virtual machine network. This switch, I'm running under the grouping of network cards.

is it possible to somehow I put NFS also inside the same vswitch?

Like jballack answers, it is best to keep these types of traffic separated. It is entirely possible to let the NFS share reside in the same vlan that you use for vmotion, but better performance and traffic separation is performed using the VLANS separated. I guess that your switch is able to use VLANs.

Another good reason to keep separate traffic in different VLAN is that on most switches and then use an MTU size of 9000 instead of default 1500 for vmotion, and it's much better for the transfer of large files, but keeping the 1500 MTU size for other types of traffic.

A tip on the same side, I've known on some switches, Cisco in particular that if you put all the traffic on a single port and have regular traffic unidentified (vlan native) then you can have some hickups and drops, but if you define vlan native to something else (an unused VLAN) then you can let the VLAN "regular" institutions tag , and it is in my experience, the best way to do it.

This is an example of configuration of lab I used for some laboratories minis (all IP addresses are examples):

    ESX1:

    NIC Team1:

VLAN on switch to 999 native (not really used), shared resources on switch port.

VMK port with Vlan 1 (10.0.0.10) for administrative traffic (management)

Port of VMK with vlan 2 (10.0.2.10) for the NFS storage

Port of VMK with vlan 3 (10.0.3.10) for vmotion, MTU value 9000

The standard ports for VM traffic with VLAN 4-10

    Esx2:

    NIC Team1:

VLAN on switch the value 999, switch port trunking native

Port of VMK with vlan 1 for management (10.0.0.11)

Port of VMK with vlan 2 (10.0.2.11) for the NFS storage

Port of VMK with vlan 3 (10.0.3.11) for vmotion, MTU value 9000

The standard ports for VM traffic with VLAN 4-10

    Storage Server:

    NIC 1:

Managment on untagged vlan 1 for management (10.0.0.12)

Tagged vlan 2 (10.0.2.12) for NFS shares

With this configuration, I had better traffic separation and troughput good. Grouping of NETWORK cards is available to all types of traffic as well the

    Hi friends,

    I have this doubt,

What Qdepth is strangled by SIOC? As we know there is some depth of queue at each level i.e. GOS depth of queue, the queue HBA, storage processor port q depth etc.

It is the depth of Queue LUN limitation aka limiting device.
