STRANGE Exchange on Qosmio G30-178

Is it possible to change the dvd with blu ray burner drive?
What is the model?

Thank you for advance

Hello

G30 is old notebook and as much as I know this series don't was not equipped with a Blu - Ray player or a blu - ray burner.
So I m not 100% sure that you would be able to use it in G30

But I found an interesting thread on similar issues:
http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=57468

+ @ lukevega +.
"We think it's likely that the Blu - ray player would work as long as it fits physically and he has the same card. Older systems will require enough graphics processing power to deal with Blu - ray.
This system has the NVIDIA® GeForce Go 7600 who must deal with it.
We can guarantee t this disc might work, but we believe that it is likely to be, but install you it at your own risk.
Before the installation of more modern equipment, it would be wise to check that you have the latest version of BIOS. »

But the fact is that the procedure of replacing everything is very very delicate because the CD/DVD drive is not easy to remove. As far as I know you must remove the portable whole (remove all covers) to have access to ODD and it needs a lot of experience.

Besides even if you replace and insert and BD, no one can say if the BIOS would be able to handle it so in my opinion you should not try to update it, but you can use an external BD drive / burner.

I should send it for service?

    Hi Vasilias

That s is amazing! You need 9 hours to install a simple web application!
It's very strange and I would first say that there must be a hardware malfunction

But did you install all the applications 3rd? What about the CPU usage? Open the Task Manager and check if there is no strange background on the laptop running process
Have you checked for some malicious software system?

You defragment the HARD disk? Please also start the 'chkdsk' for the HARD disk check

  • Qosmio G30-204 - how to replace the screen?

    Hi people. I have a Qosmio G30-204.

The screen to the right corner is not sure as the rest of the 3 corners of the screen.
    How can I tighten again?

Where are the screws on the screen?

    Hello

Have you tested the laptop to an external monitor? Perhaps it is not a problem with the monitor and your graphics card or card mother is causing this issue.
    Check it!

Moreover I replaced didn't a computer laptop screen myself again because it s too difficult and delicate in my opinion. You need to remove a large number of screws and you should be very careful that you n t destroy a part or material of the laptop.

I think the best way is to contact a local laptop technician you. They can try to help you and they have enough experience for the exchange of material on a laptop computer.

  • Re: Qosmio G30-162 - updated graphics card

However, I have a Toshiba Qosmio G30-162, which until now has served me fine - games is becoming more advanced and requires more vram.

My machine came with a GeForce 7600 256 MB has told me that the technician "is integrated with the Commission. Now buying a new pc isn't an option.
It is therefore possible to update this machine graphics card or increase the amount of ram that the current map (I'm no stranger, with the help of a soldering iron)

I would like to hear from someone who has experienced similar problems and found a solution.
    Any help appreciated thanks

You will meet many people who has the same attention but I can tell you that this is not possible.
GPU is mainly set at the Board of Directors and cannot be upgraded.
And this isn't only a deal with Toshiba laptops, but it is usually not possible on all laptops from different manufacturers.

  • I have some problems with my Qosmio G30-126

    Hello

I can feel that Toshiba does not have just customers to be technical but also is harmful to reputation because the Toshiba customers cannot use Toshiba product as do advertising -: performance, stability...

I bought 1.5 year ago Quosmio G30-126, which was earlier model (more expensive) at this time. But this model does not allow me to correct the work. Ways to collapse the system lose the work during treatment, slowing down my productivity.

If I contacted the service, was always somewhere else than the warranty conditions.

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/generic/QOSMIO_G30_BIOS_UPDATE/

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/generic/PRODUCT_UPDATE_RAID_DRIVER/

For this I am sure about the instability and not much choice of graphics GeForce GO 7600 card. The driver for Vista which has been updated several times of Toshiba (and after a year as buying by NVidia for Vista - until that moment only for XP) seems to be like another flaw of Toshiba.

Also have problems with scratches on the screen. The framework is too soft (high and low) and "technicals" told me I was putting something heavy on top... which I did not, but anywhere: in this case it can scratch it if it is to stay on the table. Second think it is I travel a lot with her... My answer is Yes, it is portable and not PC... It's the first laptop on which have stripes, using laptops for the last 12 years and 17 "for the last 5 years.

Also feel funny that I am a customer subscribed and that waiting will be provided, all news of Toshiba, not only on new products, but also all product updates... nothing happen.

Anyone have a similar experience as it is written above?

    Hana

The year last January or February my friend give me his newest Qosmio G30. I ve used a month. I've install my favorite games and I also used it to scan all my movies of course done.

The laptop has been pre-installed with Vista, but we have also installed Windows XP Home edition on the second partition to check the performance in the two operating systems. WXP works perfectly and after some personal configurations that Vista was also good working operating system. I recorded a hours of movies, he coded and burned about 20 DVDs. So I hope you believe me that this laptop has been uninterrupted on the race. Encoding is not short and portable process runs almost 24 hours a day.

After a month of use I didn't noticed anything negative and I can say that the Qosmio G30 is a fabulous laptop. Unfortunately a bit expensive for me.
I don't know what you're doing with expensive products, but I always buy the extended warranty to avoid a risk of material damage. I don't want to pay for costly repairs. For my new LCD TV I paid about 130 euros for 2 years warranty. Now I don't what will happen over the next 4 years.

Thus, everyone has their own way how to use laptop and to discuss the system collapse, lose the work during treatment, slowing my productivity is not so easy. Who knows what applications, freeware or shareware you stuff use? Who knows what make your system unstable?

I use my Satellite 17 nearly 2 years of work and private things and I always use original preinstalled Vista. Why I don't have this kind of problems?
This with scratches on the screen is too strange for me. I wonder how this can happen. After closing the cover of the display, the screen is protected and there is no chance to make scratches on it.

One last thing: maybe I didn t understand you well, but what is your problem with the driver updated, updated BIOS or corrections? Each laptop manufacturer offers different updates or upgrades to improve performance, better security, or functionality of the software. Toshiba do this too and this process would not present yesterday, but for years.

Sorry mate, a side that I understand your wish to discuss all of these negative issues but just blame laptop manufacturer for every stupid thing is not understandable for me. According to me, you know a lot of people say that PC 80% disorders are not result of bad hardware/software, but because nobody who are sitting in front of it.

What to say at the end? If possible, buy extended warranty to be on the safe side, try to have the right operating system, from time to time do the backup data, make sure that the laptop is placed correctly on the desktop to avoid overheating and I'm sure you'll use your Qosmio for a long time.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Qosmio G30 display flickering and cannot connect to Windows

I have to press F5 to make the visible display each time that I boot. I thought that it was a software related issue and I tried to format the drive with recovery CD original. However, the screen keeps flickering of the stage of the BIOS.
Now, it's even worse. The screen flashes when the turning on and I cannot Ouvrezunesession Windows MCE after formatted HARD drive.

After reading the FAQ and related articles, I suspect that it was a problem of graphics (hardware).
My graphics card is NVidia Go7600. Is this true, and it's a must to change the hardware (graphics card)?

Appreciate your advice before contacting the local support team.

    Thank you very much!

    Hello!

That s a strange question. Do you have the same problems on an external monitor?

If a display is flashing, the screen itself is faulty, the FL tube is the cause of the error. I think that is the best, when an ASP (authorized service provider) checks your Qosmio G30.
    Here you can find one:

  • Qosmio G30 - I can't update the BIOS

    I have a Qosmio G30 * PQG31A-01Y01F model number * purchased from the Australia.

I downloaded the update to the BIOS (version 3.90) of the Australian from Toshiba Web site. But it still says "the computer is not supported. I know that this message appears when you try to update the BIOS to one lappy with another.

Its frustrating because I am very sure that I downloaded the correct bios listed on the Australian site. It is very incompetent on the part of toshiba for not providing the correct bios of the same.

Why cant they put an all .bin file. Now they are confused with that support, they have released so many model of qosmio worldwide

I need this update bios because because it's a model that has been registered under the program repair GPU. Lappy so expensive and they come with a such blunder upward.

It's strange. I found the same BIOS on another site of Toshiba, try this: http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/bios-20080911134528.zip

PS. you have installed Windows 32-bit or 64-bit? Is it Vista or XP?

    Hello

According to the Microsoft Online Crash Analysis, the BSOD was caused by the unknown device driver.
But it's very strange because the device uses a common MS Windows driver for a CD/DVD drive.

A question: have you used the OS from the Toshiba restore CD or you made some changes to the operating system?

However, to my knowledge, not all media are compatible and taken in charge. So eventually the error message because of the use of any compatible CD or DVD.
You will find the information on compatible media user manual.

  • Qosmio G30 - problem after the system recovery procedure

I Qosmio G30 - 148 who have Windows XP MCE, trying to download some system programs crashed and make automatic restart.

I then used a RECOVERY CD to recover my system all and followed the instructions on the CD but when finished and restart the system, a famous blue screen telling me there is a problem in my system and windows must be restarted.

When restarting in safe mode, it is a message telling me that the system is not fully installed. Please, rerun the Setup program.

You could any body help me in this problem because it's a strange problem?

Note: I tried to install Windows XP from external CD but the system did not have the hard drive.

You are right. It's a really strange problem. I don't know if you use some external devices but before you start recovery procedure please remove all connected devices.
The fact is that this recovery image is designed for this model of laptop and the specific hardware configuration. If the BSOD occurs after the installation of the image it takes little hardware related issue.

I don't really have any other explanation. Problem is that no one here will be able to offer an accurate diagnosis, and we can only speculate what may be the problem.

Try to do it again to the recovery facility, but if the problem persists I fear that you need professional help.

  • Qosmio G30-137 - video card problem - the bug of vertical lines

    Hi members,

Today my Qosmio G30-137 started to make trouble showing vertical lines that look like this:

    ''''' ''''''' '''''' '''''''
    '''' ''''''' '''''' '''''''

After having used the product Windows disk recovery could not start early and came up with a blue screen with the error code:

    + failure of page in the nonpaged area STOP 0 x 00000050 (0xC09C3044, 0x00000000, 0X804DA90AA, 0 X 000000002) +.

Basically, this indicates that the RAM - memory Cache L2 or preserved is dead. But I also learned that the graphics card can be smoked.

After the blue screen, you will not get the system to normal operation, no matter what you try.

I strongly advise to check if your Qosmio is under warranty and see your reseller for Exchange. Fortunately I bought mine 2006/06/06 so its still under warranty (even if only a left view days).

Additional information: another Member of this forum has had a similar problem and noted that the entire motherboard must be changed causing costs of USD 700.00 and more!

I will let you know what I found myself with.

    BRgds
    The Q

Unfortunately, this sounds like a serious problem of material as other members suggested, the GPU (graphics card) may be defective and therefore replacement is necessary.

The point is that the GPU is soldered on the motherboard and it of not possible to remove the graphics chip of the card. In most cases, the entire motherboard must be replaced to solve graphic problems.

In my opinion, you should contact your ASP as soon as possible.
Technicians should be able to help you to explain the situation and to issue and ask for later handling.

    Good luck buddy

  • Qosmio G30 HD-DVD (PQ31): updated Value Added Package

I wonder if anyone has noticed this. They offer a value-added package update dated 08/01/2008 my Qosmio G30 HD - DVD (PQ31). The file reference is vap - 20080108132320.zip. I downloaded and installed the utilities contained in the compressed file, but now when I boot my laptop with Vista Ultimate, what follows are reported as incompatible with my version of the system: Toshiba Power Saver, Toshiba zooming Utility, Toshiba Wireless Hotkeys utility, Toshiba Raid Utility, controls of Toshiba, Toshiba Touchpad, utility, utilities Toshiba & finally Intel ProSet Wireless Driver.

After checking the zipped file, I noticed that the installation files are named for the PQ-32 my PQ-31!

Could this be the problem or Toshiba is not compatible Vista Ultimate? Your comments would be greatly appreciated

PS I assume that this question should be addressed to Toshiba direct, but strangely, they fail to give an address for your comments.

    Zaki

    Hello Zaki

Please don't be crazy about me, but what you wrote is noting but totally absurd. There is no difference between the versions of Vista and all Toshiba designed tools, utilities, or packages are universal and can be installed on every version of Vista.

Qosmio G30 is quite long on the market and you are the first person who says something like that. I really wonder why?

VAP is identical for both Qosmio models and there is no difference. PAxxx number is different but the platform is the same and there is no reason to make two different veterinary antimicrobial products.

To be honest, one thing is interesting to me: How do you get the following are reported as incompatible with the version of my system?

Before you try to install already preinstalled VAP should be removed first. If you do a clean install of Vista Ultimate there should not be any problems at all, just follow the order of the facilities.

  • Cannot start windows on Qosmio G30

    Hello

I have a Qosmio G30 and I can't start windows XP MCE. When I start the computer, I see first is the screen "Qosmio" and there is no problem but when Windows starts, I see the logo and the background is filled with white dots. After that, windows logo disappears and the lines is still there. Finally, the screen goes black.

I formatted the computer and reinstalled windows, everything worked fine until I rebooted. Unfortunately, the problem is still there.

I can connect to windows if I hit F5 when booting up and then choose "safe mode".

    What can I do?

    Hello

Have you installed the operating system from the recovery CD delivered?
I asked because it sounds a little like a graphics card or graphics driver problem.

    > I can connect to windows if I hit F5 when booting up and then choose "safe mode".
This is possible because the graphics driver is not loaded in windows safe mode and OS uses the common Microsoft driver.

I would recommend the boot safe mode and then delete the preinstalled graphical driver.
The new driver can be downloaded from the page of tosh.

But if this procedure doesn't help and the strange lines appear again, I guess that the malfunctioning of the graphics chip
In this case the laptop must be checked by a technician

  • Qosmio G30 - 10F - need mainboard partnumber

    Hello

I need to reference my motherboard, because it is defective and I want to replace the motherboard.
and my dealer wants the right partnumber to find the right spare parts.

But I can't find the reference to the Board of Directors, one and only one i found is:
    + A5A001964 / 030 A0 / C074AGOT +.
    + Model: Qosmio G30-10 +.
    + PQG32E-03903NGR +.
    + S/N: 47816895 +.

And my dealer said, the partnumber resembles this example: P000462640

    Thank you

As far as I know Toshiba service partner has this info. They have access to Toshiba of database and that you can check this. As much as I know that Toshiba has offered two platforms for the Qosmio G30, so it is very important for you to get the motherboard for PQG32E.

I mean if you have this number, you can order only and you don't need some special shopping.
Try to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.
It's really not easy to help you with this.

And Yes. Part number is something like K000xxxx.

  • Qosmio G30 (PQG31) - problem with cloned hard drives

    Hi all!

    * Qosmio G30-154 * (* PQG31 *).

Demo of the Qosmio has 2 hard drives with XP MCE (32 bit) installed on the primary.
    The RAID parameters are JBOD.
    BIOS is "newer" 3.90

I would try to upgrade the drives (without installing any OS) and... have a problem!
BSOD "Stop 0x0000007B" after 'clone with resizing' for the main HARD disk.

I read on [drivers Toshiba RAID | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=48489] also [how to integrate the AHCI driver when installing Windows XP | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9401AN0000R01.htm] and (or)

F6 (for all usb drivers) is not available to boot OS, sorry.

"cloned" drive is in line with the correct name of made in the BIOS. "Cloned" secondary drive works (with old primary school). How to get access to the new primary OS and loading cloned? Please, any ideas?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I think that the system cannot boot to the new HARD disk as the partition where the system is installed, was not marked as bootable system partition.

I recommend to insert the previous HARD drive and to start the laptop.
HARD drive new, cloned could be connected as an external HARD drive to a USB port.

Then you should go to disk management (right click my computer - manage-> management-> disk management computer)
Here you can see the HARD internal disk and the 2nd HARD drive connected to the USB port
Right-click on the partition (2nd HARD drive) where the Win XP has been installed and choose the partition as the system partition and mark it as active.

Then you could change the HARD drive again and could power the device in place. Usually, the system should boot to the top of the new marked system partition.
