  I try to create an inner border around text which is completely transparent.  There is a line under the text that shows through.  I want transparency through this line.  It is a T Shirt and I need the color of the shirt to show through.

  I was wondering if there is no way to force the text in a text block to be at the top of the race that I added to the text box. The descenders are cut and I have messed around with various options of baseline for the text block, but can't seem to find a way to make it work without making the largest text block which I prefer not to do.

  I saw a few solutions, but they all seem to be for earlier versions by using the settings that I can't find in the CC options.

  You can DirectSelect the path (click the direct Selection tool on the invisible way, Smart Guides can be your friends) and apply the line (you can change none at the bottom of the Toolbox or set a race weight in the stroke palette/Panel).

• Add a line around the text with a stroke

  This has been driving me crazy for years and often found ways to achieve "kind of", but I thought someone here might be able to help.

  Create a text, vectorize, add a line. OK, now I want to add a line around this whole thing so it is dye-cut on vinyl. My Cup is just a stroke with a color defined in my palette. I create 2 shots, but I can not understand how to get one to go on the other. I tried also to duplicate the image, to create just a glimpse, but it is impossible to get exactly described by hand.

  So, I have the text converted to outlines, white and gold accident fill stroke. I need to be able to dye cut it. If you add a new related, it's at the top of the old. Basically, I want to add a stroke to the race, but only on the outside.

  It transforms the effect (which is a direct construction but does not really exist) in paths that exist for the cutting line. Do you need a real tool to follow line don't you?

  The only way to do that is to go Type > convert to shape.

  Then use select it and the tools direct Selection to select just a letter, then Ctrl to turn this letter.  More work, but you get a perfect state of cleanliness, always vector, object.

  

• Cannot change order of stroke and fill to the text

  In Illustrator CC, I have a text with background colors and contour, and I hang outside the text, not half-n-half. From what I can read (for example Why can't fix us a line of text to the outside (as in InDesign) without having to first convert them into text vectorized?), the way to do that is in the appearance Panel, dragging filling to the top or the race down. But they don't change places when I try - I drag, but nothing changes. And in the Panel advanced stroke, the second and third options to align the lines appear dimmed.

  If I saw the text, then all the choices to align the shots are allowed, but I prefer to do it with the living text. Is this possible?

• Reverse the flow of the text along a path?

  I have created a path to the oval text using a shape tool.  When I type along the top of the track, the lettering is flowing as it should.  When I type the lower part, it is upside down and backwards because the stream is the same as the top.  How to reverse the flow of the text at the bottom is the place and reads left to right?  Can't find info on how to reverse the direction of flow.  Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

  OK, finally successful: Type around the top half above the lettering.  Reposition the tool text down and continue typing, even if upside down.  Select the path Selection tool, drag the text down to the INSIDE of the oval that will right the text correctly.  Select the text that you want to go then it appears highlighted, go to the window "Select the vertical offset" (not the slider to the left of it) and press down as many times until it is aligned with the bottom of the oval, in my case about - 5.  For larger slices of movement, hold the SHIFT key while pressing the down arrow key to count 10 movements.  The upper part of the lettering will line up correctly with the oval shape.

• Stroke line up options for the text

  I just upgraded to CC and we have all these fancy new 'Touch Types tools' and I can now do a clipping with living text mask.

  But we do not have yet can't align the stroke to outside on the text! WHY!

  It necessitated that many of my clients uniform of sport always want (big features surrounding the numbers and names) and now I duplicate the layer and place it under my text.
  If they text changes then I need to change the two layers so that he could match.

  This should be relatively simple request in the light of all the other fancy stuff going down. Very nice work Adobe otherwise.

  PS so I'm also why can not I use gradients in the race on the text and... I did like this clever text effects sometimes.

  all you need to do is use the appearance Panel to apply the background and outline.

  Drag the line under the embankment.

  You can also apply gradients to the stroke.

  I am trying to create a text effect in small characters following the outline of the text very large block "BOLD" (see photo).  The idea I had was to create the 'ME' in very large print text.  Then convert this text in object / path using "object-> flatten transparency...->"convert all text to describe.  Then, select this path and use the type tool ' along the way '.  However, when I use this process, the way that results is a path that does not work, that is why the long path Type tool.  Guidance on how to achieve this?  The picture below I just used a pencil to draw the letters (quick and dirty) but the result is choppy, etc..

  I have a circular path where I've got 5 words in the text that I need to have a distance equal between every word.

  What I've done is to create 5 text paths coming to overlap the other so I can move the text around the trail but is there a quick way to creat gaps equal?

• How to change the start position of the text on a custom path

  I don't seem to be able to change the start position of the text on a custom path. I can see the 'X' on the basic line that defines the beginning of the text, but it doesn't seem to be a way to change its position. Among the videos on the Internet suggested that now the CTRL key would allow X to drag along the way - however, if I try that, the path moves rather than the X.

  Steps to reproduce the problem:

  Select text on a custom path tool

  Draw a custom path

  Validate by clicking on the green arrow

  Click path for text insertion tool

  Type text

  Engage

  ... Now try to change the start position of the text.

  After validating the text you need to click on the path with the type tool (for example next to your first letter), and then by holding down the ctrl key should work.

  Your get the path selection tool.

  In other words without switching tools, just pass your cursor next to the text, then click on when the cursor turns into the i-beam cursor, but you can switch to the type tool as Ken suggest if you find that easier.
