• Studio 540 s, powers but no ports before or aft is working, no video, problem solved

  I have a Dell Studio 540 s of desktop slim which had an unusual problem. Turn on the computer, but there is no video. The video card or onboard video worked. I tried different cables, different monitors. The monitor could not detect a signal. I went on the memory sticks because the faulty memory sticks can cause loss of the video. This isn't that. I checked the correct voltage on the power supply using a multimeter.  I reinstalled the CPU, put new thermal grease on it and then cleaned the whole inside the computer to include fans and their power. Still without success on the video. Then I noticed that not only the video has not worked, but none of the ports on the motherboard worked it didn't detect either the keyboard or the mouse. So I figured simple, the motherboard and since I found one on ebay for $35 it was worth buying. Replaced the motherboard and still no video and no motherboard port working. It is the motherboard. I talked to a Dell technician who came to my place of work. He said to pass on the i/o panel until he had seen that cause problems if it goes wrong. I was skeptical because I had never heard of this being a solution. I have since found a new Panel of e/s on ebay for less than $10. I thought it was worth a try, and I just had to know. I replaced before i/o Panel and wahlah video came and all the ports are working properly.

• Dell Studio 540 no speakers or headphones Sound - win 10

  My Dell Studio 540 lost out to attached speakers.  I can't tell if the problem is caused by the upgrade to win 10 or if I experienced a motherboard failure a coincidence.  I tried a number of bugs that include uininstalling pilots, roll back drivers and even install Vista drivers original I have original system disks.  Nothing works.

  I see, looking at the acoustic, Panel output HDMI seems to work because I can see where it says sound when playing music.  However, I can't the speakers or headphones of entry to work.  Even if I try the speaker plugs into one of the entrances, the acoustic Panel still shows the headphones or speakers are not connected.

  So, how can I get the systΦme can recognize that speakers have been connected?  Is there another driver I can use.  So far, I've tried several driver Realtek and configurations, does not

  Apologies for the lack of your post. The Studio 540 has never been validated for Windows 10.

  

  My advice is to disable the Realtek HD audio integrated into Bios - Advanced - Integrated Peripherals. Then install a current PCIe x 1 sound card in a PCIe x 1 on the motherboard slots. His current card will provide 10 Windows drivers.

  After each start up my Dell Studio 540 with Vista, I get a warning that "Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working.  Although this 'fault' seems to have no obvious effect on the following operations, it is very annoying to have to clear the window. I applied the suggested solutions elsewhere, but without success either.  Can someone please help me - in simplistic terms that I am a silver surfer?  Thank you very much.

  Thanks a lot for the guide. Finally, I've identified the problem via the boot as in the NVIDIA driver.  I've now updated that and everything seems to work fine - touch wood!

When I hooked the HDMI first, I found a realtek window asking me to activate the sound via hdmi. I find it anymore this window. I can't get the sound to work at all now.  I even tried to use 3.5 mm with hdmi and got nothing. 3.5 worked when I plugged in the vga to tv cable, but the picture quality was awful. How will I know if my card grphx carries sound?

• On AHCI on a Studio 540

  Hello I recently added an SSD in my Studio 540 and installed Windows 7 on it, with the old HARD drive as a storage device.

  I learned that if I turn the RAID SATA Mode in the BIOS, it will enable the AHCI mode.

  After I did, when I restart the PC, it shows blue screen and fix the required windows and can not start correctly. May due to the two disks and Raid mode

  How can I only activate the AHCI and Raid to disable?

  I changed the values in the registry 'Start' and spent in bios Raid mode and it works.

  It seems that the difficulty of recording has the same effect.

  I just picked up a used Studio 540 and was looking to upgrade the video card without having to buy a new power supply. I do a few games.  Anyone would be able to advise a good card that works in this machine? My budget is $ 150.  I was leaning towards a Sapphire Radeon 7750 brand or possibly a 7770 like this:

  You always have a pretty decent system with Quad CPU and 8 GB of memory.  I love the Sapphire of HD7770 you have connected.  As long as you have the PCIe 6-pin power cable on your 350w unit, you should be fine.  It's going to be the best that you can get without taking account of an upgrade of the power supply.  I say go ahead because the 7750 HD is not that much less and the 7770 HD will be best for the games.

  I recently bought a Dell Studio 540 second hand, in private.  I am trying to install Windows 7 64 bit, for which I have a license, but have lost the installation media.  There was no media installation with the Dell printer.  I downloaded an ISO of digital river, the DVD burned, shot to the top of the installation on the PC.  But he asks a driver CD and not proceed with the windows installation.

  Where can I find this driver?  I searched on the section of downloads for serial number and nothing that seems to do the trick there.

  99/100 times there is no such driver.  This message indicates that your media is bad... try downloading, check the hash or use a download manager to ensure the integrity of the download. try to use different software, blank DVD, engravers to create the DVD... you can also try the installation via USB after re-downloaded ISO.  Once successful with this DVD, you will need to activate by phone from Microsoft (not Dell).

  Read this subject of audit of issues that you need to install Win 8.1.

  Here is the Studio D540, if that's what you mean.

  Remember, you will need to purchase a license to win 8 (8.1). You can download the iso file to install it and probably not use it for 30 days, but then you will need a license (product key) to activate it.

• Failure of the Studio 540 USB after the House from lightning.

  So, I am a computer Tech and this is a first for me. My client calls me and tells me that she has a problem with his desktop computer. I show up at his house and the first thing I see is a huge burn on the side of his house. (I think thisll be fun...) Crush.)   Try to clear the BIOS first:

  1. Power/disconnect
  2. Power button press / hold for about 15 seconds
  3. Open the case and remove the motherboard battery
  4. Power button press / hold for about 30 seconds
  5. Reinstall the battery and see if it USB works when you start

  If this is not the case, consider connecting a USB hub with its own external power brick. Connect the brick on the wall and the hub to a rear USB port. Connect the mouse, the keyboard through the hub and see if it works.

• Studio 540 does not illuminate

  I got a blue screen which kept looping saying something like "repaired" and then it turned off to restart. The white start button came out but didn't. Turning the power on.  I tried again and now the white power button will not come, but I see a reddish glow behind it. Green power light is on.  I love this top Office 6 years and more and have a lot of things on it, unfortunately not saved.  Or Microsoft made a backup somewhere?  Help!

  Hello!  Try to unplug the unit, then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, plug it back and see if it will reboot.  When you say that the "green power" are you talking about the green light on the power supply unit itself, where plug you it into the wall?  If it is green then your PSU should be fine.

  Hello I recently upgraded my pc to an OCZ Vertex 3 240 GB ssd hard drive and moved my old HDD as a secondary for the storage of music, pictures and video files. I read that using the SSD in AHCI mode will further improve the performance of the disk. My question is how can I activate the AHCI in bios dell. the only im options given are SATA and RAID. Is it possible to run AHCI? Any help is appreciated. I have better than average knowledge with pc, s but far from an expert. Thank you

  If your bios allows, you can find passage to the raid (even if you have only a single boot drive) can put you in ahci mode. Before making the change in the bios, you will have to do some registry tweaks like just change the bios setting you will get a bsod when you start.

  To enable switching between RAID/AHCI/IDE mode, you will need to change the values 'Start' in these key 0

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci\Start

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Pciide\Start

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\iaStorV\Start

  Once you make these changes, restart and set AHCI/raid in BIOS, save the changes and then restart.
