Successfully installed, but cannot be updated.  Error "serial number is not to qualify the product."

I installed Adobe Creative Suite Production Premium (CS5) on a new PC (Windows 8.1).  Installation was successful.  I uninstalled on old PC and it disabled.  My problem is that I can't update.  Without updates, I can't read the most recent pictures of Canon (so I can't use Bridge or PhotoShop).  In fact the installation the first time, I put in wrong number of product Adobe (I believe that Elements 8.0, I bought years ago).  I have reinstalled twice using the serial number correct, but same result: I can't update programs and get an error "serial number is not to qualify the product '...  Help, please.  Dave
