Support for CD/DVD external USB NB100

I have a netbook NB100, which has been upgraded to Ubuntu 9.04 (all works well). I recently bought an external CD/DVD burner but cannot make it work.

I tried the device on a G5 Mac OS x 10.5, Windows XP an Acer and the Acer even run Ubuntu 9.04 and it works on all these - just doesn't work with my netbook. Is this a problem with the hardware with the netbook?

I (finally) dug my external device of DVD R/W, plugged in my NB100 running Ubuntu 9.04 and played some audio on a CD. I can also look at the files on a DVD, so it seems to work.

I have not tried to write on a DVD because I don't have as much as to find what program to use to do. I guess that's my next task.

What everyone uses to write CDs and DVDs in their NB100?

  • Portege R500: XP Installation with CD/DVD external USB - SOLUTION drive

    Hi all!

I just wanted to take five minutes to inform you that installing XP on a Portégé R500 with external USB CD/DVD drive is possible, even if you have already deleted Vista and with a CD bootable XP Win in hand.

First go into your BIOS and check / set first boot device is CD/DVD player

Start your installation of win XP from the CD without the F6 thing and let go his way

After some time, the installation stops and says "cannot find the file xxxx" and you are invited to tell where is this file

"" Just replace the drive letter "C:" which is given by default with the letter of your CD/DVD drive (and leave the rest as it is) and the installation will continue until the next "cannot find...". "and you need to again replace the drive letter, etc...

After a complete installation 'automatic assisted manual', you are welcome in Win XP!

The next question is "where can I find my CD/DVD drive letter?" and the answer is "it's the next letter after your last HARD drive letter" (I consider you have only your Portege with nothing else plugged that your CD/DVD) so more often it will be 'E' C: being the first partition of your HARD disc : is the hidden / recovery partition that winning creates.

But don't worry, if you type try to the wrong letter, that you will have as much as you want until you find the good and the following "cannot find...". "it will remain the same.

I hope that this information will help some of you who want a fresh installation of win XP from a newly formatted HARD disk.

    With sincere friendships.

    What a great information!

  • Portege R700 - no autorun for CD/DVD and USB keys

In my Portege R700 there is no way to make autorun works (for key USB and CD/DVD as well). CD/DVD and USB keys work perfectely, but not the autorun.

I tried to use both the automatic repair of Microsoft and PowerToys, but the problem that it is still there. I also tried to change the registry, but it seems that the changes are not retained. I suspect that it is something related to some utilities or so.
    Can someone help me?

    Thanks in advance.
    Gerlando

    Hey,.

    > I suspect that it is something related to some utilities or so.
What utilities you have installed? Theoretically, they could block the autorun

Normally if autorun doesn t work on XP, you can enable it in the Windows registry:
    Start > run > regedit

The registry editor will open and go to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / policies / Explorer
Double-click the NoDriveTypeAutoRun value and set the value of 91.

    Now he must navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlSet / Services / Cdrom

Double-click the AutoRun value and set the value to 1.

Now restart your computer and try it again, usually autorun should work again.
Additionally, make sure that the latest Service Pack is installed for XP (SP3).

The operating system on two workstations are running with Win-7 and using the same version of R & R.

  • Updated BIOS for a boot with USB (external)?

I have a laptop of G50-104NR with Windows Vista Home Premium.

It doesn't seem to be a BIOS update available at HP when you run the update from HP. As best I am able to determine, the BIOS does not support boot from an external USB device. Does anyone know of a source of an update of BIOS or other workaround to allow booting from a USB device?

    Thanks in advance.

the update of hp does not always show the BIOS updates.

Enter your product number in the search box at top right of this page, select software downloads and the pilot, then the OS you are using.

  • What type of support for labview usb protocols?

Hello guys I want to connect a device to your pc via a usb port and I want to use labview to analyze the data.

But first of all, I would like to know what usb protocols support for labview.

USB, USB CDC and other TMC?

I ve read labview recognizes a raw device to the usb, but what is? Is it VI to read and send data, or I have to do? If these VI exists, they do the handshake? flow control?

    Thank you.

Please read the chips and have a look at the USB specification (it is linked to in the nuggets).

TMC, CDC, MAss Storage are all built on the basic USB protocols.

LabVIEW has no built-in support for one of these classes of devices except Test and measurement.

As far as I know that you need a compatible USB key to boot from the external drive.
I found this useful document with a list of compatible readers on the Toshiba support page.

  • Satellite Pro P100 - cannot boot from external USB DVD

My internal DVD player on my Toshiba Satellite Pro P100 failed, and my windows is broken.
So I bought an external DVD drive to boot from, so I can recover the system using the product recovery DVD.

Now, he actually goes ahead and starts from the DVD. But once in the setup it gives me the message: "ERROR: file Setenv.ini D:\Setenv.ini or X:\Tools\Setenv.ini not found!

So I went ahead and checked if the file was... it was... but it is on Drive E:\ (probably because it's a USB device I'm starting from)

-J' did some research and found that I needed to run the command: X:\tools\recogui /FE: say the recovery my files were actually on drive E:-which has helped a little... until I got a new error where it was always looking for the *. TPA file on drive D: eventhough I have via recogui had specified otherwise.

Now what do I do to understand everything is to the recoveryprocedure on drive E: and not D:, as he seems to think?

As I am in the middle of a period of review, quick response would be GREATLY appreciated :)

    Bad new boyfriend!
Boot from external DVD USB drive is NOT possible!

You can start only from the inside, ODD, HARD, LAN disk and external USB FDD (floppy)

  • Portege Z930-118 does not recognize the external USB CD/DVD drive

My new Z930-118, with windows 7 64 bit home, does not recognize the external CD/DVD drive when I plug it into the USB port.

The CD/DVD device does not even appear at all in Device Manager.

The reader is a SE-S084 Samsun and works well on another laptop.

I already checked for the "upper_filter", "lower_filter" with the regedit, but entries are not there, so no help.

    Hello
I m not very well how to help you.

I found some information about this WEIRD disc and it seems that he didn't need an external power supply. Its USB bus powered so I guess around 500mA power since it is the default value provided by a USB 2.0 port.

I don t think that there is a problem of missing software. It is a plug n play device so you need to connect it to the USB port and the system should automatically recognise.

From my point of view of the few you try to connect the external USB ODD two ports to aid a * Y * Cableusb.
I think the reader needs more power provided by a single USB port.

  • DvD - external rom for Portege 3500

I recently acquired a Portege 3500 as well as an external DVD-ROM from Toshiba (model No. PA3246U-1DVD). As I try to find the drivers for this I failed horribly (for the dvd - rom). It is connected via a CardBus card. Toshiba says that drivers should be part of Windows but my system is unable to find them. I was wondering if anyone here had drivers for the Portege 3500 for it. If I'm not mistaken, they should be for PCMCIA adapters. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    * Note: retailers say the ships of external Toshiba DVD-ROM with cd contain the manuals and drivers. If anyone has a copy or could direct me to a site with them it would be greatly appreciated as well.

  • File USB supports for disappointment 19BL502B TV

    Hello

After reviewing various brands and models of 19-inch TVs, I decided on the Toshiba 19BL502B, after downloading the manual for http://www.toshiba-om.net online.

What particularly attracted me to it was the support of USB for movies Xvid encoded, as described in 'Appendix C: supported File Formats for USB Mode' in the manual that I downloaded from the top.

So, I bought one, paid in cash, but when I try to run files xvid, TV does not have this format.
Research in the paper manual that I got with the TV, Xvid files are not mentioned at all in Appendix C.

Convert these files in mpeg2 standard comes with a heavy fall in quality and even when converted to Vob format, the image is ok, but there is no sound.

I tried to take it back to the shop but they say there is nothing wrong with television, as it does what it says in the manual.

So what's happening? Why my new TV from Toshiba UK does not supports xvid, even if the online manual says it does, and I know that make televisions more expensive and larger Toshiba?

Can I get an upgrade of the software that supports xvid as advertised?
My software version is 0.6.6 V and when I do an update he claims it's the lates version.

So is there an earlier version of the software which, is there a place I can download it, put it on a USB key and upgrade to get what I consider all of the announced features?

I am very, very disappointed, because it was really the main reason that I bought the machine, so I didn't have to reconvert and DVDs to read.

    Disappointed Frank.

    Hello

File formats supported for USB mode are listed in appendix c.
And the video Format Xvid is supported for files with the file extension. AVI
So if your movies are encoded in the format xvid video, you must use the .avi file extension.

  • External USB hub limit for Satellite Pro C650

Is there a limit to how much you can connect via the Satellite Pro C650 of external usb ports?

Provides four ports hub I, ports seem to work individually and all devices operate normally when plugged directly into the top of the Tower, but when all devices are plugged into the hub and combined high tower, there are future errors.

    Thank you
    Karyn

Well, I think that this should not be a problem if the unique USB hubs provide clean power.
The fact is that the only USB port provides common 500mA and if several devices would share the power of a USB port then it might be possible that the 500mA available would not be sufficient for all USB devices.
