Support in ESXi 5 cassette player

VMware took support to fix a tape to an ESXi host drive and run a virtual machine with the tape drive set up?   http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC & docType = kc & docTypeID = DT_KB_1_1 & externalId = 1016407

The tape library features and backup together with VMware ESX/ESXi software are supported partner.

VMware ESXi supports the scsi tape drive but its a supported and validated by the seller, VMware doesn't validate.

If you look at the KB to say like that, and if you look at the page "vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-50-storage-guide" guide 35 its said that FC connected conical discs are not supported but scsi tape drives connected are still supported.

For more information, I suggest you open a request and deal with VMware.

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 taken Failover Cluster support in ESXi 6?

    Hi guys

I think that it is based on the many articles of MS and VMWare I was wading in but did anyone have knowledge if a SQL Server 2008 R2 failover cluster is supported on ESXi 6?

I think we have to run on a Windows Server 2012 R2 operating system unless we are forced to stick with Server 2008 R2 for reasons of inheritance

  • Physical serial ports are supported in ESXi?

Physical serial ports are supported in ESXi?  I install Windows 2008 SBS on a HP Proliant ML350 G6 ESXi (version of stick USB HP) running. The server comes with a serial port on board.  I was hoping that connect an external modem and expose it to the virtual server, Windows SBS 2008 to serve as a network fax.  Is this possible? Alternatives if not supported?

    It would be a no.

There are TCP/IP USB devices, do not know if there are similar devices for the series, but NO physical devices, sound cards, usb, parallel, series can be transmitted to a virtual machine.  That's because ESX uses vmotion, and it was designed to let the virtual machine move between machines, so allowing physical connections so would interfere with this operation.

  • ESXi in vmware Player?

    Hello

I am trying to build a lab inside my workstation.  The configuration is:

(physical host) Core i5 x 64/w VT active
    -(os) Win 7 Professional x 64
-(hypervisor) VMWare Player (client, defined as "Other OS 64-bit"

    -(os/hypervisor) VMWare ESXi 5.0.0

    -(os) Win 2 K 8 R2

The Win 2 K 8 R2 will not start. The message pointed out, is that the CPU does not support 64-bit execution.

My understanding is that the above doesn't work... Is there any restriction that I can't run a 64-bit client OS inside a host of VM ESXi 64-bit? compared to a physical host of ESXi 64bits?

OK - you can't do double nested 64 bit VMs. (unless you run ESXi5 on ESXi5 on the bare metal).

  • Microsoft Product Support Services (C00D28B7) Windows Media Player 11

I use a 4 month old XPS M1530 DELL with Windows Vista. And Windows Media Player 11 was already installed. I always update my computer with the latest updates for Windows and Vista.

Hello. For a few weeks ago, I wanted to take the opportunity to see a TV program that was protected with DRM by using Windows Media Player 11 I have installed on my computer. After I chose to play this TV program with Windows Media Player 11, I got a message that I had to install an add-in to be able to view the selected program. I accepted and then.

I never had a confirmation that it went well. And I'm still not able to see TV programs that are protected by DRM. Whenever I try to load the protected DRM content I get the same error. The error text that appears is the following (translated from the Norwegian version)

There is a problem in the DRM (Digital Rights Management) component. Contact the Technical Support of Microsoft (C00D28B7). Windows Media Player cannot play the video and reported the error message above.

I tried to get answers on how to solve this problem on the internet without finding any answers. Can someone please help me solve this? Please describe how, to English easy since my English could be better. I have also considered reversing this additional installation. It is to uninstall this add-on. Can someone help me to do this?

    Hi ourkid,

    Thanks for posting answers.microsoft.com

It seems that the error log has been changed on your system.  If the DRM is used correctly, try to install this update to resolve the problem.

  • Cisco ACS 5.4 is supported on ESXi 5.5?

    Hello

We modernize Cisco ACS to version 5.4, but the only available platform VMWare's ESXi version 5.5. The docs to install ACS indicates that version 5.0 and 5.1 are the only supported versions. Does anyone know if version 5.5 is supported too?

  • My supported if ESXi VMware inside my VMs tools are outdated?

    Hello

One of my customers like to install a new cluster on ESXi 5.1.0u1 and migrate virtual machines in a cluster on the cluster 5.10u1 5.0. But it does not update the VMware tools (in the first place).

He asked me if the ESXi 5.1.0u1 servers are always supported by VMware if VMware tools running are obsolete.

For me, Yes, but I can't find an article/paper which can confirm.

Can someone tell where I can find an official statement about this?

    Thanks in advance.

  • vCenter 5.1.0b does not support vSphere ESXi 5.0.0?

I came across a weird error today at work.

Immediately after installing vCenter 5.1.0b, I tried to add a host to a data center newly created ESXi 5.0.0.

I met an error that said, vCenter does not support the hosts of this type.

I thought, really?  The compatibility matrix says it does.

At this time, I left for the day and will answer on Monday.

In the meantime, is someone met such a mistake?

vCenter... can't stand the hosts of this type.

Could you please provide the exact error message!

At what stage of the wizard have "Add host" you received the error message?

How the host is currently allowed? With the free license of the hypervisor?

  • Mac OS x 10.8 support for ESXi 5.1

Also, I wanted to know about licenses. Im not clear if I'm reached unrestricted license trying to run MAX OSX on ESXI. There was some talk everything through forums, I wanted just to have a clear answer

Any help on these questions would be appreciated

    Hi DForneiro,

If you get an error in HostSmcRead, I would hazard a guess that you run ESX host non-Apple machine.  Apple Mac OS X to support software license conditions require that the OS runs at the top of the Apple hardware, even when virtualized.  We rely on specific Apple hardware on the host computer in order to activate virtual machines in Mac OS virtualization, so if it is not a host of Apple, Mac OS X does not start.  A failure in HostSmcRead means that we were unable to communicate with the hardware required host.

If you are using host of Apple hardware, I'd be interested to know the details, because the failure you see would be something that we want to determine and fix... Otherwise, what you are not allowed by the Apple ALS and we will not be able to help you here.

    See you soon,.

  • copy the vm-support journal ESXi host bundle

Can anyone suggest a way for me to make the beam of vm-support of an ESXi 4.0 Update 3 host? We don't allow SSH on our hosts for SCP and Veeam FastSCP came out. I tried several PowerCLI remote CLI commands and vMA and nothing seem to work. Any suggestions?

We create the bundle in unsupported mode and it seems to store the .tgz under/var/usr file but I do not see the file when I navigate to the folder on the vMA. I guess it is because another user (root) creates the beam and I am connected at VMAs with vi-admin.

    When I run the command vifs.pl: alive < connection_options > g ' VM/VM.txt [StorageName]. "
    Z 'ha-datacenter""tmp/backup/VM.txt. "

    RCLI file cannot be located

    When I run:

    Get-Host HostNameOrIP | Get-Log -Bundle -DestinationPath c:\Storage\Location\

with Powercli I get the following error:

Get-Host: A positional parameter cannot be found by accepting the argument ' *. **
    .**.**'.
    Online: 1 character: 9
    + Get-Host < < < < *. **. **. ** | Get-Log-Bundle - Destination c:\

    . Commands.GetHostCommand

(I replaced the IP with * for reasons of confidentiality)

Allows SSH really my ONLY option?

Your partition you want to pull the bundle of newspaper are there enough space? Sometimes, the size of the file for this could be huge. To check the free space on the Service Console, use "vdf h", the v includes VMFS, while "df-h" excludes VMFS.

So you might want to change the location where empty you these files.

You can also manually run vm-support - w/vmfs/volume/guid. Where guid is the guid a volume with a lot of space.

/etc/opt/VMware/vpxa/vpxa.cfg will actually show you where your logs are generated by default, and the number of files you have. Try to move / backup the files in/usr/lib/vmware/hostd/docroot/downloads. This contains all the files in package old newspapers. This should free up space to run the command vm-support.

And Yes, you can try to activate SSH to see if that helps too.

    I hope this helps.

  • not supported for ESXi 4 NIC... Can I simply add a NETWORK card?

Maybe it's painfully obvious, but I don't want to assume anything.  I tried to install ESXi 4u1 this morning on a machine just to see if it would work, and I have not reported any supported network cards.  Can I buy a NETWORK card support and then ESXi 4 will work?  Is it really as simple as that, or is there some other stuff that I'm not aware of?

  • 8 support on ESXi 4 vCPU?

    Hello Alls,

For the new version of ESXi 4. is it supports 8vCPU for 1 VM? (I mean if I have server physical quard core 2Cpus)

and for the server with physical 2CPUs on ESXi4 how to create VMS on for secondary physical CPU used?

    Best regards, B-)

    Bancha

Yes... and it's ONLY for your ESXi host, has NOTHING to do with your guests.  You can always just give your 4vCPU max guests, no matter how sockets or licenses of socket you have.
